Anybody not worried about De Gea leaving, should have watched Tim Krul tonight. Be afraid. Be VERY afraid.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

16 Mar 2015 11:37:54
I'm worried about Krul from what the Ed has said. But he wasn't first choice for the Dutch at the WC, Cillessen was first choice who is 25 and plays at Ajax. I didn't particularly like the look of him either to be honest, but it gives me hope that if LVG is not picking Krul ahead of this guy he doesn't fancy him enough to sign him (maybe wishful thinking).

I don't know anything more than that, but it might be food for thought. I would hate us to sign Krul, prefer Vorm if we are going Dutch.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 12:04:47
Adrian is far better GK than Krul IMO.
And Lloris is the best one to replace DDG if he is leaving.

Or Foster from Southampton hasn't done so badly this season. I do like Adrian though.

Good shout there Nomid, I think Forster is an excellent Keeper. Could be real top class.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 15:14:41
Yep, I liked Lloris when he was still in France. Top keeper, though very much in the DDG mould again. Needs a good lunch or two! Foerster has really started to impress me. Hard to know how good a player really is when he's playing for Celtic, especially a goalkeeper. I just hope we don't go for the cheap option in Krul.

Just . Thought while we're talking about keepers. Loved seeing Lindegaard up on his feet cheering like mad after the goals yesterday. Knows he's never getting a sniff of a game, and will probably be away in the summer, but still acting like a team player, compared to some other lads on the bench, who never even take their hands out of their jacket pockets.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 16:08:51
Fingers crossed Dave the Save doesn't escape from the refrigerator just yet, but I think Forster is a very good keeper.Excellent shot stopper and at distributing the ball and agile for such a big bloke.I really rate him.
But losing De Gea would be a massive loss. His pass to Young in the first half yesterday was an absolute gem.
Mata's blog today thanked all the fans for the reception when he was subbed, said he would always remember it.Nice touch.
Also, loved Rooney's goal celebration.Total class and I think showed a very united team.Brilliant.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 16:13:23
I think forster is average but big tbh and Adrian is hopeless, maybe I've just been spoilt with DDG but neither are top draw goalkeepers imo.

Lloris would be my number 1 choice, if not maybe Cech if Chelsea would sell to us and the price is right for both parties. But I'd be equally happy with Handanovic like Ed002 has mentioned.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Mar 2015 16:58:40
I'm just waiting for the call to pull the aul gloves on again, Chris. Still a great shot-stopper at 43. Just takes me half an hour to get back up on my feet again after every dive.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Everyone seems to have forgotten Valdes.}

16 Mar 2015 17:51:52
I agree about Adrian, he's a bit of a clown in my opinion. But Forster, he has a lot going for him. He's a no fuss goalie, good hands and just seems to be in the right place at the right time.Reminds me a bit of Jennings. Does look a bit shaky on corners at times, which is weird as he is huge.Seems to have a good temperament. Could be just he has such a tight defensive unit in front of him. I think he has the most clean sheets this season.
I wouldn't want Loris, he is erratic. He didn't look too smart yesterday, he should of done better for the first goal. Looked pretty shaky in all honesty.Seen him a couple of times, he makes some really rash decisions at times. Replacing De Gea will be just as hard as replacing Schmeichel, if he decides to leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 17:57:53
Not a fan of Forster, he looks like a bad guy in a Channel 5 film maxed on steroids and can hardly move!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 19:30:28
Good point Ed, Valdes is in pole position for the no.1 shirt, and he shouldn't be took for granted, tons of big game experience.
I've never been that convinced by him though.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 18:50:05
Ed, do you see Valdes as a solid stop-gap to take the pressure off the club timewise, in finding a genuine successor to De Gea?

Tremendous win and performance today, and it is coincidence that a good performance has happened with Mata on the pitch. He is a player who I love, he has so much composure and class on the ball, he was even effective out on the right despite being more effective centrally. The combination of Young and Blind down the left was at times unplayable, both worked hard, tan themselves into the ground and did good things on the ball. For me the composure of Carrick was crucial as well, he and Herrera were always first to the ball and used it well. Nothing needs to be said about Rooney, he was excellent and is more than capable of leading the line for this club - I would love to see him work more with Wilson rather than Falcao. Lastly, really good from the centre backs, they played as they should play and stayed fit!

Bring on Liverpool!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

16 Mar 2015 11:33:16
Agreed, we should just bin off falcao and use Wilson.

16 Mar 2015 11:40:32
Best I have seen Mata play in a long time Fresh. However 90% of games he has played in this season he hasn't contributed much at all. I think his omission has been justified on account of poor form, but maybe that was the kick up the backside he needed, great yesterday and seemed to have a yard of pace back!

Fingers crossed the same can happen with Falcao, and maybe ADM if they can get back in the team!

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 13:58:00
Falcao and di Maria are the sort of players you sign for the champions league, not to get you into it. I blame Woodward and his obsession for signing star players.

Agree0 Disagree1

15 Mar 2015 22:57:39
United played good but I'd say Spurs defended poorly. 3 points nonetheless and the quality of the win would have given the team immense self belief and confidence.
I'd say we should start the same 11 against Liverpool.
Blind and Mata were very vital cogs for us and for a moment it felt good to have Mata holding the ball and not losing out Di Maria did. He could have had a goal had he anticipated well.
Blind may not be pacy but he was a calm presence in the back 4 who could pick a pass.
What I would do for a CB who could pick out passes.
There maybe hope for Jones and Smalling after all, and I wouldn't be surprised if they stay on next season. Evans is a goner though.

Just watching MOTD with Keown trying to impress the viewers with his analysis. Going on about how United were good today because we "made triangles". The on- screen graphics made me laugh showing picture after picture of any 3 random players making a triangle between them.
Now I know there is some validity in the whole triangles thing, and he isn't the first to say it. But if you take and three players, in any position, in any team, they will make a triangle. It is impossible not to, unless they are stood in a perfect straight line, or they are giving each other a piggy- back!!
Talk about over analysis!

Believable6 Unbelievable0

15 Mar 2015 23:15:47
They have to find some nonsense to pack the show out a bit, I'd rather they just showed more highlights.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 06:43:35
It was possibly the worst analysis I've ever seen, I was hoping it wasn't just me that thought it but then I went on Twitter and #triangles was trending. Mark chapman seemed bemused by the whole thing as well.

The graphic he was showing he just kept adding a random 3rd player to a simple pass to say it was a triangle, some pundits are stealing a living.

Fantastic performance against the Spurs today, I don't think we could have asked for much more. A clean sheet, a solid defensive display, technically good in midfield and 3 first half strikes to kill off the game.

Credit to LVG he got his team selection spot on and set the team up well against a tricky opponent. Over the last few months us fans have called for Herrera to start, Mata to get a run and Rooney up top and today LVG obliged. I hope he himself learns from this that from now to end of the season he must select his best team and not his most reputable one.

Special mention to Fellaini who has been in storming form this year, he played a blinder today. Carrick was awesome on the ball and Blind very solid at left back (Shaw should be worried). To top it off I would like to say after all the stick he got last Monday Valencia came out strong and put in a solid performance. Great to watch all round and a tidy result!

Believable7 Unbelievable0

15 Mar 2015 23:09:51
I agree with everything said. I would however rather see Rafael start next weekend in place of Valencia, he will do much better against Sterling and Ibe/Coutinho. Fellaini was excellent today, he deserves to start next week to be fair. I think however that we may see Mata moved centrally for Fellaini (or Fellaini keeps his spot) and Di Maria comes back in on the right.

Agree0 Disagree2

Valencia managed to keep sanchez quiet in the FA game and ericksen during the sours match. I don't see rafael coming in for him against lpool.

I'd drop ADM for the Liverpool game. Hopefully that will give him a boot up the backside (as it seemed to Mata). There is no way he should walk back into the team, it could really damage morale imo.

First 45 minutes were as good as I've seen since Fergie left. I actually found myself watching the whole game, without feeling the need to find something urgent needing done somewhere else in the house.

Lets hope we can maintain that level of performance, and I pray its not a flash in the pan.

£20 quid gladly lost today :)

I was thinking the same. The 1st half was a pleasure. The second was LvG's possession philosophy; "keep the ball and they can't score".

I was just looking at the comments on City's main forum and found this little gem: "we should be playing like United did today" LOL.

That put an even bigger smile on my face.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

15 Mar 2015 21:26:19
Well that's how we play with David Moyes's team out there!! I'm including Herrera as a Moyes player, in that it was he who supposedly identified him and initiated the signing.Otherwise Blind was the only addition. Di Maria and Falcao were red herrings. Hopefully the former will have a good second season, but the latter is surely not going to get another year at OT.

Honestly, I think what we're starting to see is how much better we are without RVP, who, IMO - and have said many times - was a poor signing notwithstanding the first half of his first season. It is his inclusion that puts the team out of balance. Moreover I think he's a very arrogant self-opinionated person and a divisive influence. If LVG has any cojones he will not play in a United shirt again.

I don't know whether if we'd added 5m to the transfer fee and 50% to his wages it would have ever swayed Hazard to United, rather than Chelsea, but between RVP and Hazard, which one was the better 2012 signing? It's not even close, both in respect to the football and the financials. Hazard is now probably worth more than he was purchased for, whereas RVP may well be completely past his sell-by date.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

15 Mar 2015 21:54:49
Are u classing Reals midfield a Moyes one too as he wanted Kroos and Bale?

Agree2 Disagree1

15 Mar 2015 22:13:41
Shawthing I personally don't see the point in letting RVP leave. With his form this season combined with the fact he's not going to get any younger and his contract only having one year on it we aren't going to get much value for him.

He may not be as mobile as Rooney but he is still a predator in the box and if next season he accepts he will not be an automatic starter then there are many benefits of having a player of his experience on the bench who could come on to change a game. Also he has heaps of experience to share with the youngsters coming through (imagine Wilson learning how to sharp shoot like RVP with his pace).

He could be utilised the way Larsson was during his time at United for example.

Agree5 Disagree0

15 Mar 2015 22:19:14
we signed rvp and he single handedly won us the title, he was worth every penny its a shame this season his injurys and his form have been below par but he is still a world class player when fully fit.

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Mar 2015 22:34:41
No, not really, since they weren't available. Nor am I suggesting Moyes didn't have to go. His position at the end of last season was untenable, even if that was as much down to bad luck as bad decision-making and lack of leadership.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Mar 2015 23:19:59
He only scored 12 goals last season. He was a one season wonder for us. When you look at it, he had one great season for Arsenal so, maybe it's because of his injuries, but I think from a total career point of view he's overrated, and at his age he's not going to get any better. His salary could be more effectively employed elsewhere.

Compare his stats to Wayne Rooney's who has 40+ more career goals since 2004-5, probably a load more assists, and is 2 years younger.

I'd rather keep Falcao.

I don't dispute that his contribution in the first season was integral to us winning #20, but to me it was at the cost of overall team development.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Mar 2015 00:00:35
You do realise we would not have won number 20 without him that season don't you?? So your saying we should never have signed him? We would be years without the title. Also the revenue made from winning the league and shirt sales from kids for rvp, has more than made him a worthwhile signing

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 01:29:23
You don't know we wouldn't have won the title without him, though I admit it's likely we wouldn't have done so. It depends on who else we might have signed. What I'm saying it was a very short term signing, and it masked the inherent problems at the club, to wit, the failure to replace the midfield and the aging defenders.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 10:00:28

We now have 9 cup finals left after winning the first.

We actually won easily and impressively and the early goal settled us. Carrick's assured play including an assist and a goal caught everyones eye but for me the MOM performance came from Herrera, he was everywhere and involved in everything.

I didn't feel Fellaini was as good as some were saying, when he lost the ball which he did a few times he didn't seem to make the effort to get it back. Good goal, well finished but that apart I didn't feel he was that good.

A mention to Blind, I was worried his lack of pace might get exposed by Townsend but he saw him off and more.
Young carried on the good form and Smalling seemed to have taken a step forward in his performance today.

Rooney showed what a mobile forward can give us and when we all watched his goal celebration at half time we all laughed heartily.
The first half particularly was enjoyable to watch, let's hope for more of the same going forward.

Fellaini did a lot of work in front of where I sit in the second half and didn't keep the ball well enough. He lost it easily on one occasion and just stood there, didn't evrn try to win it back and the crowd shouted at him. Close up view of him gave me that opinion although good finish for the goal

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 09:42:35
I think Spurs couldn't cope with him. He was just ramming at their defence but like you said you may have glimpsed things that I didn't.

As much as Young has come on leaps and bounds this season, most improved player goes to the big Fella for me.

Before anybody gets too carried away and hails Van Gal as a hero for today's display, let's look at it logically and not get too carried away.

Van Gal so far has proved to be a negative manager with many poor displays recently. Today's result had nothing to do with him.

Today's result was not down to Van Gal it was down to me!!
Yes that's right me!!

Let me explain. Whilst taking my wife to The Lowry Hotel for her mothers day lunch and mulling over the possibility of having to miss united playing live (TV!) for the 1st time in over 25 years, it dawned on me that United will be boarding the bus outside just as we are about to go inside for lunch.

Having made a sensible booking for 1:30pm, I was horrified when my wife rang to change this, without my knowledge, to 2:30!!!

Not a problem I thought let's just hurry her along eat quickly and we will be home for kick off.

We arrived at 1:45pm, to see the United coach outside, with many fans waiting to catch a glimpse of the players and staff.

Not ideal I thought as i wouldn't be able to stop myself saying something to someone after having such a Rudyard Kipling season and having to endure boring negative football!!

Then I thought well i wouldn't say anything to any of the players and it would only be Van Gal I could vent some rants towards. Not much chance of seeing him come out as i go in I thought and proceeded to head towards the door.

First came Rooney then Falcao. No point saying much to Rooney, as he has been our best player and pointless saying much to Falcao in my Manc accent which might go over his head!!!

I take my 1st step towards the Hotel and who should come out next.only Louie Van Gal!!!!! Happy Days i thought!!

The best I could come up with was, you need to play some attacking football today you!!!
It obviously worked!! My wife said he didn't know what to say or do and looked confused as i walk off proud as punch!!
Little did i know, with my back turned, that his next look was a "i'd like to **** her look at my wife"!!

I will let him off with that look seen as he decided to take my advice and play some attacking football!!

Now you all know it was me who has turned our season and Van Gal around!!

Beast i'm sure you will want thank me personally!!

Well, I put my hands up! Phil O'Sophy got his team selection and tactics spot on and managed to outsmart one of the most promising managers around right now.

Was nice to see De Gea get a clean sheet, he had a quiet afternoon which is great to see for once.

Both Smalling and Jones were a little nervy at the start but they slowly grew into the game, especially Jones who made some great tackles. Special note for Smalling who is leaps and bounds ahead of his former self from last season, if he keeps injury free he can become a serious first team defender for us in the future.

Blind, Young and Fellaini were immense down that left hand side. Absolutely loved the determination by Blind to get the ball back and won us many corners because of that. And well Fellaini had a good game again, it's great to see him get some form as he has been wrongly targeted by a lot of our fans.

Carrick, Herrera and Mata had some great link up play and it's great to see them actually pass forward! Carrick was key in the first half for 2 goals, he's still got it and it will be a difficulty replacing him in the future.

Finally Wayne 'Boxer' Rooney proved today why he should be starting up front, can't help but imagine how well he would play with a pacey striker beside him, somebody like Benzema or Lacazette would give him the space to perform like that on a weekly basis. His goal was class, him vs the defenders and just typically bullied his way onto goal. The celebration wasn't too bad either!

Overall a very happy Weggy, let keep this momentum going now onto next Sunday, keep the forward quick passing and hopefully we could see ourselves pushing for second by the end of the season!

The 3 points were important but the most surprising thing for me was I really enjoyed watching us, we were entertaining, inventive, forward thinking, and took the game to Tottenham. Pretty much everyone played well, Smalling kept bursting forward with the ball and there was a general perkiness to us today. These are the same players who have been struggling so what has changed? No idea, but whatever LVG has done, do it again Louis.

I think today proved that Rooney up front should be the way we play, we have options in midfield we can play with but having 5 thee helps us control the game. Blind gets some stick but he is a very useful player and I'll say it again, Carri k is massively underrated. Someone called him a crab this week, what utter poppycock.

All in all the best game this year and fingers crossed that gives us some confidence to take the game to the other teams in the coming weeks.

The lads were a pleasure to watch today. First goal was lovely, with Carrick moving into space and setting up Fellaini for the nice finish. It really seemed an intelligent group out there, able to move the ball together and lots of movement.

Carrick made a huge difference today, and as Red Man said above, Herrera was brilliant, popping up everywhere.

On a side note, watching Hazard play today and remembering how good Ronaldo was for us I wonder how important it is to have that kind of a tricky player in our line up. Right now we do not have a player like that, therefore I think we need to go all out for Depay because I think he could turn out to be that kind of a player who would give us our fear factor back.

Well that was disgraceful really. 3 lucky goals and shut up shop for the second half. Rooney was the usual headless chicken and did nothing apart form his goal. FAellaini is just a big lump who gets in the way and Ashley Young is not fit to wear the shirt. We were very poor, it's just that Spurs were worse. There you go Beast, I've written your post for you.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

15 Mar 2015 18:04:19
Haha nice one AJH.

First half was great and second half was deceptively brilliant. Our problem this season is we have played whole games with the same mentality we had for the second half. There is a time to be cagey and the second half was it, we attacked at pace, the team grew in confidence and I just hope it continues for this difficult run-in. Great to see the boys enjoying their football for once, I think all our fans can be proud and it gave us a taste of what we have been craving for 3 years.

Are Chelsea catchable, a few tricky games for them and with City looking ropey, it could be a crazy crazy couple of months if we keep this up?

15 Mar 2015 19:44:20
I think it is great we can all sit here and agree we played a great one.

I tell you beast, if we turn over the scousers next week and Chelsea drop more points, who knows what could happen.

Well I have said it before, now it's proof. Mata needs to play every game. He is what we need in at number 10. This team is one of the best we have, so it's a wonder why we signed Falcao or actually why we did not sell Chica or Clevs?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

15 Mar 2015 19:16:11
But he didn't play number 10?

To be fair GDS he roamed around the midfield and was in the 10 spot among others. The midfield played very well.

Fellaini and Mata are destroying Spurs. Everyone looks really up for it but.Smalling and Jones make me nervous. Will they give a goal away? I wouldn't bet against it. Well done United, best 45 minutes this season.

Yes I praised him earlier on here GDS2. He out smarted the guy I want to take his job and the players looked happy. Amazing what confidence can do.

On paper we looked slow and weak, in reality we were really effective and forward looking. If LVG has us performing like this most games there will be no complaints from me. I hope it wasn't a fluke, it didn't look like it was, we certainly looked like a team to be feared - oozing confidence out of nowhere.

I noticed your post below after I posted mate, I agree it came from nowhere, I actually felt that it was never going to click but to suddenly play like that today was unbelievable, we played the same way we have been but about 100mph faster, the issue has been that we make it too easy to defend against us, but today we took it to Spurs and they couldn't cope with us. Fingers crossed it wasn't just a blip.

Ridiculous team selection as always, should be fun to watch the mighty fellaini up too whilst we have Falcao on the bench.

Im with beast on LVG. Clearly has his work cut out for him. Strange formations, tactics and player selection. Constantly trying to force square pegs into round holes. And isn't really giving some players a fair chance in the team. Just talks pure drivel about 'philosophy'.

@Ed001 if you're around. i'd like to hear your views on depay as a player and his potential. Also I would be interested to read what you think of januzaj and Wilson as players and their future potential .Thanks in advance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - from what I have seen of Depay, he offers a lot of pace and direct attacking runs from wide areas, but has supposedly got a few attitude issues. If he knuckles down and works hard, he has the talent to be top class, though I can't see him ever being the Eden Hazard level, for instance. He, in my opinion, will be the step down from that, good enough to be first choice at a top end Prem side, but not good enough to be their best player.

Januzaj needs games, he has the talent, but needs to increase his workrate, both on the pitch and the training ground. For me I believe he made a mistake not committing himself to an international side as soon as he could. That international experience would have been vital to his development and really given him a chance to take his game up to another level. He needs games, if he doesn't get them, I fear his talent will not grow the way it should.

Wilson is similar in regards to needing games, the lad has the ability and lightning pace, what he needs is experience. I really like this lad though, he reminds me of Ian Rush a little, he desperately just needs an arm around his shoulder from the manager and some faith shown in him. Rush took over 3 years to establish himself at Liverpool, I think Wilson will have a similar time frame to really get to grips with the Prem. He will need to learn to do more than just rely on that pace, and that takes time as he never had to at youth level.}

15 Mar 2015 14:14:52
Cheers ed. In Januzaj and Wilson we no doubt have two of the most promising attackers in the country. Depay would add to this. All three of them will be blocked slightly by 'world class' starters next season, but they are great to have to bring on, great players will be here to learn from and they will take over the reigns in years to come. Who knows, they could be the next Holy Trinity!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - for me Wilson and Januzaj should be starters, especially Wilson, as RVP or Falcao need some pace alongside them to create space to operate.}

15 Mar 2015 14:28:33
Thanks for your input ed. very interesting. One more question. Do you see Hazard as being in the same bracket as Neymar as a possible future Ballon D'Or winner and then see Depay as like a Di Maria or a Sanchez or do you see hazard as the Sanchez tier and then Depay lower again.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Hazard is Sanchez tier, but I do love Sanchez as a player and would never include Di Maria as on the same level as him. Di Maria is one of the most over rated players in the game, he has technical ability but no intelligence at all. Far too much running around to no effect other than looking good to TV cameras. Depay, at the moment, does a lot of ineffectual running as well, he needs the right coaching to move up to the next level. Neymar is a whole other level, at his best he is potentially Messi/Ronaldo level.}

15 Mar 2015 14:46:43
I'd start Wilson with Rooney for sure, and Januzaj should get far more game time. Will be interesting to see how he and Young do today.

Agree1 Disagree1

15 Mar 2015 12:48:30
Great chance to forgot what's gone on so far this season so far and just make these last fixtures count. If we can see off Spurs and liverpool that should give us enough of a cushion to secure top 4. Massive result today think we need to forgot style and just dig out results on that note I want to see 11 battlers out there today. For me that means no passengers like Di Maria, januzaj, need players who do not give the ball away cheaply as Spurs will fancy it today and are a quick counter attacking side. Defenders need to give the ball to midfield quickly as they are all horrible on the ball and look complete liabilities whenever in possession. Like to see Herrera and blind playing in front of the defence and Rafael on for Valencia who cannot defend and offers nothing going forward.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

15 Mar 2015 12:31:32
It's come to this. Being the worst in the world at betting on football, I have decided to back Spurs to win today, in the hope that the betting Gods will look at my bet, and think, 'Kirkwood's betting. Let's crush his hopes once again'.

Just watching MOTD. What a goal from QPR's Matt Phillips. Got me thinking that we score hardly any goals from outside the box. This lad Phillips has a hell of a shot, so maybe we should put in a cheeky bid. We could get him for under £3M I'm sure. Could be a great signing, and would be a much cheaper alternative to Vidal of Pogba.
Also from the same game, Zaha was world class. What were we thinking of letting him go back to Palace for 75 quid, or whatever it was. He has all the attributes to be one of the greats. Could have saved ourselves £59.7M on the DiMaria deal. For me, Zaha is a better player.

15 Mar 2015 10:45:05
All joking aside, I think Bolasie could go on to be a very good player. Then again, he could sign for us, spend most of the time on the bench, the rest of the time playing out of position, then go to a Championship club on loan and then end up back where he started and try and rebuild his career. Hold on.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Mar 2015 10:54:39
Betty, you do realise that Zaha has been fairly poor this season, and hasn't even been first choice at Palace?

The lad has one good performance against a very poor QPR side, and suddenly he's better than a player who was a major part of one of the best teams in the world for the last five years?

By all accounts Zaha's attitude was appalling when he arrived: he believed he was a star player and had nothing left to learn. He was given oportunities at United and failed. He was given oportunities at Cardiff and he failed. And after the best part of a season back at Palace, he's just about starting to look like an EPL player, so obviously now he's world class.

Tough but very winnable game today against Spurs. They have scored a fair few goals this season but are very inept at the back.

With Di Maria out I hope Januzaj plays and drives at the the defenders the way he did against Sunderland a few weeks back. I still think the lad will be a top, top player in the future if he applies himself.

I also think Mata should start today. We need someone to link attack and the midfield if we want to get anything from the game. He carved up many opportunities last time out against Spurs but Falcao and RVP failed to put them in the net. With Rooney firing it could be a different story.

Let's get at them from the start!
