as a manchester united fan i am not too fussed about the marquee signing eg sneijder modric all i wish for is to return to that more dynamic style of play which included a fast pace and deadly counter attacking. so if that comes in the form of young relatively cheap in comparison to the more favourable hazard, goetze, ericksen then so be it. if we have the same budget as last year in terms of transfer fees (60m) and we do offload the likes of berbatov nani anderson park then i think the following targets are not to unrealistic as a nani sale would free up a chunk of wages expenditure.
Martines, 30m
kagawa, 10m
Clyne, 3m
gaitan, 15m

---------DE GAE---------
JONES VIDIC FERDINAND EVRA
--------MARTINEZ-----------
-VALENCIA KAGAWA GAITAN-
---------ROONEY--------

leaves us with a strong bench/squad including- lindegaard, rafeal, smalling, carrick, wellbeck, hernandez, cleverly not including the likes of scholes and giggs who would be used more sparingly.

i think this squad would be more than capable of winning back the premier league. not only giving us great options but providing us with the depth. not having to rely on giggs and scholes as much as we have done this year. thoughts ?

Firstly as much as it pains me to say this but well done man city for winning the league! Even with the money spent u still have to push hard to win the league. Now on to transfers...I'm afraid that I'm not a friend of a united youth team player or Alex fergusons horse groomer, this is all just opinion but going on past history I'd take a punt that kagawa is pretty much a done deal barring and out of this world wage requests. This would give us a cracking goal threat from genuine attacking midfielder. Park and Anderson really need to go as they are taking up essential squad positions and wages that can be better used elsewhere.
Man city will probably attempt to bid for Eden hazard but I'm hoping that the ferguson personal touch and regular football can convince him to join the red part of Manchester. Ferguson is usually better than most at punting a good case for united forward. This would give us a genuine left footed gem who can play on the wing, in the centre of floating behind Rooney and we all know fergie loves player who can play in multiple positions. I'm really unsure we will go for a defensive midfielder as fergie doesn't go for them, remember that keane and ince where box to box. A combination of fletcher, carrick, giggs and schole will suffice for another season as long as we secure hazard and kagawa.
I'm feeling the Dortmund lewandski can be got due to his contract running down as long as we can shift berbatov, Owen and the perennial under achiever/twitter whore macheda.
Debuchary would be an right back to give our defense more balance and with vidic back Evans could provide cover for evra with fabio gaining experience while in a year long loan with porto.
Finally I think that if Dortmund showed any sort of hint they may sell hummels then I would be adverse to either vidic of Ferdinand being sold to free up squad space for a much younger world class centre back. Preferably Ferdinand of the two due to age.
I know ferguson has been quoted as saying 3 additions were needed but I believe if he was able to shift fringe player like park, Anderson and other mentioned then this number of additions could increase.
Let's not forget kovacic is on a free so could be purchased as a more long term project. God I ramble. If ferguson could achieve all I have just mentioned then we really would be a team to be feared even by the might of barca. But remember that we would have 1 advantage on top of all these positive changes! Fergie! The man can take an ordinary united side and go to the last day of the season still hunting for the title.

I know he seems Barca bound, but always thought Bale was such a natural Utd player. Seemed destined to take over as heir apparent to Giggs, and I think the lad himself would have loved, as a Welshman, to maybe be regarded as such. I know SAF was always sweet on him, and I know we'd have to pay top money, but I'd love to see him tearing down the left in a Utd shirt.

Can't see us signing hazard as city will get him...chelski wouldn't sell torres to us in a million years...think fergie will go under the radar again...in some respects this year we over achieved and with the boys now blooded I think the likes of Jones, young, wellbeck et al will start to really shine next year. Keep the faith

How on some websites saying that we could get Torres on a free? What a rediculous suggestion. He is one of the few strikers that i would love to see in a United shirt though, even when he was off his game i still really rate him.

Red Man

Since you've been watching for so long (being there makes absolutely no odds), you'll notice that we mainly buy young players, not ready made 'WORLD CLASS' players. That's Real Madrid's thing.

I remember the city match well. I also remember well the European performances. I would like to remind you that there are 2 centre backs. In my opinion, Evans has been the one holding it together after an underrated start to the season.

It's got everything to do with the tabloids (possibly the mail), everything you spout is straight off the back of some rag. Our team needs 'World class' signings or we'll become the noisy neighbours? Seriously, do you actually think that? If so, have yourself checked out.

I know its not United related but i'd like to mention to drag people away from "We're so rubbish blah blah" or the transfer guessing game.

But with Del Piero leaving Juventus i'd like to say that the guy has been one of the best players of the last 20 years and would like to say well done for sticking with Juve thorugh all that time including the enforced relegation to Serie B when he could have easily jumped ship with certain others.

I don't know about other Man United fans, but I' already getting a feeling this Hazard transfer could turn into another Sneijder summer.
How I see it is this, if he is haggling for a massive wage...£200,000 a week, then he can go to City. I personally only want players that want to play for Manchester United the team and Alex Ferguson!
The last thing we need is another money mercenary playing with our minds all summer.

Just a quick note on Hazard! He was supposedly at the Etihad for the City v Utd game?!?

Is it feasible that he could've been there as a guest of one of the two clubs and, as it was at City, maybe their guest so personally I think he'll sign for them...really hope I'm wrong as he is class!

However, no player is bigger than United and if they don't have their heart set on United then I don't want them! We want players who play for the shirt not for ££££££

I've analysed the squad of 2011-12 season. With the 25 player rule in mind.
This is my prediction for 2012-13.

FOR SALE: Kuszczak, DeLaet, Pogba, James, Berbatov and Owen released. Fletcher might retire come January. I have a friend who suffers from the same condition :-( 10m IN.

SHOP WINDOW/LOANS: Amos, Brown, Wootton, Norwood & Macheda will all have to be registered 2013 Season start.

LOANS SET PRICE?
Bebe, Brady, King & Fabio will all have to prove themselves on loan or will be sold in jan or next summer.

LOANS OR FEEDER CLUB LOANS:
M.Keane, McGinty, Cole, Tunnicliffe, Petrucci, W.Keane, Cofie
This loan will be important for these guys, Fergie will want to see strength from Cole, Ruthlessness from W.Keane and a full fitness workout from Petrucci for instance.

PROMOTED TO THE FIRST TEAM SQUAD:
Johnstone, Vermijl, Thorpe, Lingard, Fornasier, (Gladstonny, Evangelista the two players from Deportivo Brazil) also I think Fryers will cover Evra. He'll get League Cup, end of group Euro game and FA Cup game.

ACADAMY IN THE FIRST TEAM SQUAD:
Januzaj, Blackett, Coll, Van Velzen.
Pogba, Morrison, Macheda, Fletcher were in the squad at 17.

SIGNINGS:
Gaitan 20m LW plus Macheda & Fabio on loan.

Leandro Diamiao 22m (or) Ledwinski 18m
Clyne 2m FB

What does everyone think of my prediction.

The 1-6 derby loss represented a 10 goal swing on the goal difference. Will be nice that now it will probably have no relevance but had it not been for that game we would of won this premiership very comfortably. Not bad for a team in transition.
It's still not over yet but surely no. 20 is on its way. 3 or 4 top signings this summer and a great side is forming again.

Supasub
Just looking in the archives from the day utd thought they had won the title think this was the one that tempted fate it would seem that goal difference meant everything in the end. Mo

If you read my post Mo, you'll see that I've used the key words "probably" & "not over yet". What is your point exactly? That my post was the tipping point in the title race? (have a quiet word with yourself) That game is now more relevant than ever. SAF was right when he said we should of shut shop at 0-3 down. There where several games where we threw it away, but ultimately we were undone by the last 60 seconds of the season as a result of things that had happened in previous games.
I stand by my post now(even if irrelevent) and we still need 3 or 4 top class players to make a great side. Tempting fate indeed.....winning the league is about results, simple.

Please don't get swept up in the media frenzy that suggests a "changing of the empire", and all the other BS headlines from arse licking journos eager to cosy up to City's money.

Just put things in perspective. In the end we lost the league on the last day to 2 injury time goals scored against a bottom 4 club, playing with 10 men. We lost on goal difference, with a points total that would usually have won the league. If we had Vidic available as much as Kompany was, it is not hard to argue we would have won the league with ease.
For sure, we havn't played to our usual standard, but we have had significant long term injuries to midfielders and defenders to cope with, and probably SAF, in hindsight, made 2 tactical errors when 4-2 up v Everton, and team selection against City.

But all of that is just football, its the way it goes, but does not constitute the collapse of United.

We will be much much better next season, and with SAF probably more determined than ever before, anybody who wants to write us off, do so at your peril!

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has mocked Arsenal fans, after seeing the north London side finish third in the Premier League as his new club won the title.

Nasri departed the Gunners for the Etihad Stadium at the start of the season in a multi-million pound deal that led many Arsenal fans to accuse the Frenchman of leaving for the money.

Nasri has now hit back at those same critics - goading Arsenal fans that he is celebrating winning the title while they are left to mull over another trophyless campaign.

"People at Arsenal tried to make out that I came here for the money," Nasri told a French TV channel. "I hope they are watching me now, collecting my Premier League winner's medal. I believe they have not won a trophy for many years now.

"I made the hard choice to come and fight for my place at a big club, where they never settle for second best, and I have proved it correct.

"I now hope the Arsenal fans can get on with their lives and forget me, they should celebrate their third-place achievement and I will focus on winning titles."

Nasri also suggested that some players at Arsenal are not giving their all to the cause, but are happy to take their wages and settle for third place in the table.

"If all that I was interested in was money, the easiest decision would have been to stay at Arsenal, picking up my money every week and walking into the team," he said.

"There are many people doing this right now at Arsenal."

Nasri, Tevez, Balotelli, De Jong...... Nice team they have

In case you hadn't noticed our neighbours are buying quality and now they are champions will try harder still. They have ambition to build something that will win it every year and they want to dominate in Europe. We need to decide whether to compete or not. Your team with Evans in defence just is not good enough , Allen ok but he is not man city standard so why good enough for us. You just seem to think we will continue to buy the odd ordinary player and they suddenly become worldbeaters. Well SAF can get more out of players than most but up against city we need real quality. If you had even there for our home league game you could see it and the team SAF chose at the Etihad out of fear of City because we can't match them as a team.

If you can live with that then good for you. I grew up in Manchester and for over 20 years watched relative mediocrity through the seventies and eighties and at times a really poor side, we now need to compete with Citys quality or become their noisy neighbours and that is unacceptable. I suggest you up your game rather than name call, show some ambition rather than accept cheap options

Red Man

Just because a player is not hyped by the tabloids does not mean he's a bad player. Who says that Allen is not our standard? Lucas and Nani always track back, may rarely make tackles but they pressurise the opponent. Both Pogba and Allen can tackl brilliantly and pass brilliantly, what more do you want? Add to that great control and dribbling, you have something special.

Don't even get me started on Evans. He's been our best defender this season, hands down, yet for some reason, if he stays at centre back we won't be able to compete? There was a reason I was name calling.

Ed or anyone else, I was wondering whether or not there is likely to be any movement in the assistant manager position over the summer.

I have plenty of respect for Phelan, but I personally feel that he himself, and his "ethos", for lack of a better word, are wrong for this club and the way we are supposedly trying to shape our team.

I know it's been discussed before, but is there anything actually being lined up, or is it completely unrealistic that he will be replaced?

I wish people would stop including Anderson in their 'out' columns when talking about transfers. Its not going to happen. SAF has said many a time that he will be a great player for us, he even said it last week. He obviously has some faith in him, and when he is not injured he does offer a bit of a driving force in midfield. Admittidly he is no Yaya Toure, but he is very direct and i for one think he gives a directness to our play that none of our other players do. Give him another chance.

I really do hope that we sign Hazard, i have questioned it a few times as to whether we should or not. But i really do think that his signing would be a massive statement, if he chooses us it shows Madrid, City and Barca that we still have pulling power. I think that a serious amount of money could be spent this summer, all the talk sounds good, so we will see, but i really hope it does happens. I hope that Kagawa and Hazard are the first of quite a few, Debuchy, Clyne would be good additions as would Martinez, Pique etc. There is potentially alot that we could do, lets see what happens! just thought I'd share some of the banter on sh*teh page... there seems to be a real mixed opinion amongst football fans in general about city winning the league- some are ok with it, whilst others hate the idea of sugar daddies."Get a life Gooner Man u bought the league for a long time"

yeah, with the *clubs* money a big difference than being *subsidised* by a sugar daddy- there is nothing unique or exciting about that, it could happen to pretty much *any* club, thats the point.

that is exactly the reason for the fairplay rules coming into effect soon- but no doubt your club well find a way around that and continue to spend beyond your clubs 'realistic' means.

But enjoy it if it makes you happy- personally I would feel like my club has almost cheated its way to the top.

genuine congratulations, but sorry that's why i will always have more respect for the likes of newcastle, everton, etc.

Hummels(20m)
Sissokho(loan) or clyne 3m
Martinez(25-30)
Kagawa/Hazard(10-12)(25-35)
MAYBE rodriguez if nani leaves(20m)
Lewandowski(15m)-75mil spent if we don't go for hazard

Kuzckak(2m)
Fabio(loan)
Park(5-7m)
Anderson(10-12) maybe exchange or loan
Nani(20-25) class but inconsistent
Owen(1m)
Berba(7-5m)
Macheda(4m)-round about 45mil of players sold so net spend would be around 30 mil, then our live up could be:
De gea
Clyne. Vidic. Hummels. Evra
Martinez
Valencia. Young/Rodriguez
Scholes/Kagawa
Rooney. Lewandowski
not saying it will all happen but I've heard we are definitely in for kagawa and martinez

Firstly i would like to congratulate City on their win (although i almost threw a bottle into the tele when Aguero scored that goal). Reading some of the posts on here though you would think they won it by a country mile. Yes we haven't been at our sparkling best this season, but its nowhere near as bad as people on here are making it out to be.

When you look at our most disappointing days of the season, its mostly been a shaky defense rather than the attack that has been in question. Vidic and Fletcher have been terribly missed. We saw what happened to City when they didn't have Yaya Toure and Kompany and its easy to say we have a bad squad, but some of the goals we have let in this season, would simply not have gone in if Vidic and Fletcher would have been playing. I know there are doubts over how good Vidic will be when he comes back, but his game was never reliant on pace and he certainly cannot lose his aerial presence in the box which we missed the most.

Something else that we have lacked this season, is a quality striker to finish chances off. Its only so good criticizing the midfield all of the time, but when you look at some of the sitters Hernandez has missed over the course of the season, its not hard to know why we lost it on goal difference. Valencia and Young have put in fantastic crosses into the box only for them to see that nobody was there to finish them off, take intelligent positions or head them in with real power.

Gary Neville has come out and said today that a lot of quality players might not be available this year, well i disagree with him strongly. This is one of the summer where i think a lot of players will be available and City can't buy them all. Just look at this list :-

Full Backs- Clyne, Izaguirre (both would be here next season if you ask me)

Center Backs- Benatia, Vertonghen

AM- Kagawa, Muniain, Eriksen, (all would be available if the price is right)

CM- Modric, Strootman.

Wingers- Hazard, Rodriguez, Gaitan. (Again all would be available at the right price)

Strikers- Cavani (a dream come true if we sign him imo), RVP (subject to his contract talks of course), Villa (yes he is coming back from an injury, but he will be available and certainly would be taking a look at when Berba and Owen leave), Lewndowski (mostly trying to get a better deal though)

City certainly can't buy them all, neither can RM, most are gettable imo. Everybody seems to think we may miss out on Hazard, Muniain would be a quality option to fall back upon. I have left out Martinez since Bilbao are not prepared to sell him and would rather let Muniain go.

Hazard/Muniain, Kagawa, Villa, Izaguirre, Clyne would be a very good summer imo, especially if we manage to keep Pogba which is a big if. All of them are very much gettable. Some might say Villa is past it, but i think in today's market he is definitely worth taking a look at. We may also be interested in Modric if the price is right, although a lot depends on the CL final as well. Strootman is another interesting player whom i like a lot.

On the departures, i think Berba, Owem, Macheda, Anderson all need to be shown the door now. Nani is the controversial one of course and if a 25mil+ offer comes in, i think we should let him go.

So simply, there are a lot of very good players that we can go for in the market this year and there will be no excuses if the "no value" banner comes out, although SAF hasn't said that for a couple of years now.

The most important signing we should make this season is getting SAF a new no.2 though. Some of the tactical errors this season have just been aweful and made us look a lot worse than the quality we have, especially in Europe.

Also why does David Gill bother saying a word? Doesn't he know that anything he says simply gets twisted and turned the way the fans want to?

If the news is true that Dalglish has run away (again) then I'll be the 1st to thank him for his efforts over the past year in turning Liverpool into more of a laughing stock than they already were. You'll be greatly missed by all you deluded, classless fool!

hi eds, these are my views abt the transfer activity at old trafford this summer

striker: with berba, owen, macheda expected to leave. expect us to buy a strriker

winger: i dont think Hazard is coming to us because he is mainly a right winger and with valencia, nani, young, park in the ranks who can fill the position it does make sense to pay 30-40 million for a right winger
wat we are in for is a left footed winger someon like bale or gaitan. i m not saying that we will get them but may be we will go for some one unknown who is on the cheap

midfield: i think kagawa is likely to come to old trafford so unless fletcher is unable to recover from his illness and pogba leaves we will not go for anyone else

defence: i think we will buy a full back who will be cheap

all in all i expect us to spend 25 to 40 million on 2 or 3 players
thank u

not united related but interesting, sorry for cut and paste;

Samir Nasri's response to being called a mercenary:

"People at Arsenal tried to make out that I came here for the money," he told French TV station TF1. "I hope they are watching me now collecting my Premier League winner's medal.

I believe they have not won a trophy for many seasons now.

If all that I was interested in was money, the easiest decision would have been to stay at Arsenal, picking up my money every week and walking into the team.

There are many people doing this right now at Arsenal."

That's rubbing arsenal and the fans noses in it.

I wonder who we sign that make us all think..........
Who's he?
Can he play in a midfield 2?
Why can't i find him on any football manager games?
Where's his wiki page for stats?
Doesn't look that good on YouTube?
Why did he cost that much?
Oh my god! :-(
Is that it?

This is what I'm dreading if the Glazer's only fund us another Bebe, Obertan and that young Man City lad we felt sorry for and took under our wing Veseli.

I remember the days when a player was spotted at Manchester Airport he'd be defenatly playing for United next season.

Not the case now. We see these players and we question:
Are they money grabbers or are they priced out of our reach at 33+million.

I'm happy to say I've cracked the code............
If a player is geeted at the airport with welcoming smiles and handshakes he is United bound.

If the player walks out the airport and a black tinted window 4x4 BMW skids infront of the player. With 3 big thugs that jump him & pull the player in. Then I'm afraid he's sold his soul. Rich beyond his wildest dreams but will live a life of regret by the fact he'll never be a UNITED PLAYER.

Just looking in the archives from the day utd thought they had won the title think this was the one that tempted fate it would seem that goal difference meant everything in the end. Mo

So it's been two days since we lost the title. We were nearly there with number 20 but it was taken from us in the last minuet of the season. How is everyone feeling?
Some may be sad, some may be angry and some may still be propping up the bar but. Most show frustration and hit out at tactics or under performers but there is one common link between all these people..... They love there team! They want there team to succeed and be triumfont and these are the people I love reading there messages on here.
Keep up the good work people and here is to a good transfer period, a good pre season and a cracking 2012/13 season!

After losing Morrison & Pogba I really hope
Fryers & M.Keane can be great squad players like Brown & O'Shea were.
Tunnicliffe turns out like a Butt or Fletcher.
Petrucci even if he turns out half as good as Scholes.
W.Keane like a little Bobby "Dazzler" Charlton or Hughes.

Let's hope these players of the future mirror our home grown talents from the past.

That's of course if we have to rely on our academy products.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville is concerned that Sir Alex Ferguson may end up disappointed in the summer wheeling and dealing.

Neville believes there may not be enough quality players available given the spending power of the top clubs vying for them.

He told the Mail on Sunday: "I’m sure the manager will look to bring in players but can they find the right quality to lift them back to being among Europe’s best?

“The money will be there, but are there enough quality players to go round in a market that could be blitzed by Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona?"

Hummells, Kagawa, Ledwinski, Sahin.

If we buy this lot then Goetz & Subotic in jan we should change our name to Manchester U-Dort-ed.

First we were buying Balse's Frei, Xhaka, Shaquiri
then the whole Ath. Bilboa first XI.
Then some of us would be happy with Baines, Felliani, Barkley from Everton. Tiote, Cabaye, Ba from Newcastle.
Bale, Modric from Spurs.

Truth is we will get a hell of a lot of players from one club.
CLUB DEPORTIVO From Brazil. All the scraps that no big team in Brazil wanted to take a chance on. Like Glenn Hoddles Spanish training camp. We've already seen one product Rafael Leao.......? who I hear you say......
Only played a few reserves and went back cause he was shocking :-(.

No real info here but I saw a post a few days ago that said the glazers spent on their American football team this year and maybe that's a sign for United. Unfortunately, in my opinion it's no sign for us Reds. I live in florida and have seen the figures they've spent here, and the money that they've spent here is a mere pittance as compared to European football. United is a leveraged business opportunity for them. They don't have the dollars, euros, or pounds to do what is needed for United to be what It should be. The best we can hope for is £50 million until the IPO goes public. Rock and a hard place gents.

Good morning all,

Watched SSN when I could today, watched MOTD and Football First last night, it was hard but feel better after it, I know that sounds strange, now don't get me wrong, it was hard watching, thinking about what might of been but then there was Carlos Tevez. This is the same man that f**ked off back to Argentina for six months, showed nothing but disrespect for his club and team mates, has slagging matches with his manager via the media, comes back with his tail between his legs, does f**k all on the pitch and then celebrates on that bus this evening like he is some form of god, and as for that banner/poster, well that just shows he lacks the inteligence, integrity and respect required to be a professional footballer. It also highlighted the real difference between us and city, and thats class.
Take the fans, had to laugh at the lads trying to get back into the stadium after they walked out after 90 mins. Its the last home game of the season, you stay and applaud the team win lose or draw. Even Chelsea fans are better than that.
The players, now don't get me wrong, in my opinion there are some top blokes at chitey i.e Harte, Kompany and Adam Johnson. But then there's the mercenaries, Nasri(went to chitey for an extra 10k a week to play in a team that totally went against his style of play), Tevez(not wasting anymore time typing bout this piece of brain dead garbage), Balotelli(poor excuse for a human being), Dzeko(couldn't shut up talking up clubs he wanted to join in the summer when chitey were in there slump).
Total lack of class shown by all but hey I suppose its the nature of the beast, mo money mo problems lol.

On a more serious note I see all these reports regarding Hazard, saying he will be in Manchester next season, he is going to s**tey, another nasri, better off without

good night and god bless

Guys, saying it as I see it again.

As you all know by now, I dont personally like Fergie but hey, Im not the only one. Respect to him though for what he has achieved, Tevez is out of order and has no class.

Losing the league title may just have the desired effect that United need. They ammassed huge points this season, but honestly they did not really look good, in fact very poor at times.
Sometimes teams need a huge shock to awaken them, and Fergie being the canny old fox he is, will play on this next season.

He tried his old tricks on Mancini but he wasnt having it....top marks to Mancini he has been the only manager who has beaten old sneaky pants at his old game.... not a good omen boys.

Contrary to your normal starts, next season I suspect United will come out the blocks fighting like wild men, frothing at the mouth. ( trust me i know what Im talking about, I froth at the mouth every time I put my teeth back in ).

Your team will learn from this dissapointment, as will Liverpool....and who knows we may just be party poopers for both you and citeh next season ?

ps I presume a replacement for Scholes will be bed in next season, but Scholesy has been supreme all season....shame he plays for man utd though !
