One of the things I think I am most looking forward to this season is watching how Moyes sets the team up and our tactics during the match. There are so many different options open to Moyes and as he hasn't made any signings as yet it's very hard to work out how he will play.

From pre-season it looks like Moyes is looking to implement higher pressing and getting the team to work harder to win back and keep possession of the ball. This will be a huge improvement on last seasons sit back and let's teams onto us.

Moyes is also very structured in the art of defending, his teams seldom give you a cheap goal.

Formations are funny things, 433, 4231 and 4213 can all be very similar with only tiny differences which are hard to notice for the untrained eye.

Formations really only mean something when your defending anyway, its a map to where each player should be when their team doesn't have the ball, but when in possession then these formations become very flexible and free moving. Clever players will find and make space for each other and make it very hard to defend agaisnt.

This is something Moyes will have to learn, as he has had a habit of trying to over coach attacking plays. Which can make his teams abit stagnant and lacking ideas going forward, at this level and when dealing with creative talents of this calibre he needs to learn to trust them to create on their own in the manner which best suits the situation at the time.

For people like myself their is a feast of new tactical ideas and plans being implemented right in my own back yard. This season I am likely to watch less football involving other teams as i'll be watching more of our games over and over again analysing every aspect of our play. I'll still keep an eye on certain talents i've been monitoring but I don't think i'll have time to watch such a wide range of players this season.

I'm just getting super excited, woooohooo. lol.

Let the games begin.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dont forget shappy, moyes favorite formation is the 7-2-1, also you might try anderson in the flase no-9 role, I mean for too long, he's been in the flase midfielder role lol. {Ed007's Note - To err once is human, to err twice is stupidity.}

Agree0 Disagree0

That's exactly what I'm looking forward to as well shappy, I think moyes is a great tactician, and the people who are worried about the tactics we employed during the charity shield are quite right as in my opinion we played very predictable football, however it was moyes first competitive game so it will take the players a while to settle into the new formation and Tactics he's trying to employ. Honestly last season the team I was most worries about facing was Everton, they were an adequate team in terms of quality, bit the drive moyes got from the players was outstanding, and he seemed to be able to outnumber us in every department, his tactics IMO are outstanding and he will prove that this season.

au contraire ed007, that is false, repeat false, I mean that would make me a stupid human lol, anyhow good luck to all teams fans for the new season, let's hope we see some great football. {Ed007's Note - We had a debate today and Ed030 thinks LFC will finish in the top 4, ahead of Utd, Spurs and Arsenal, that Suarez, Agger, Gerrard and Coutinho are genuine world class players. Even other LFC eds were disagreeing with some of his statements. It's good to see that you are all passing your delusions of grandeur down through the generations.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Jase, its quite difficult to exploit space and gaps when a team puts 10 men behind the ball no matter what level you play at. If Wigan came out and attacked like they had say against Barnsley the week before it would have been a cricket score, so the only way they could play was to suck up uniteds attack and counter and hope to nick it 1-0. You can't judge our football on one glorified friendly. For example today we will be solid and looking to counter, but when we play Palace at home in a couple of weeks we will attack from the off. Play the style that suits the opposition.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice one bond, got a belly laugh that one

Question, who does he think would finish 3rd then?
or is there just going to be a gap?

Mick,

I've been meaning to reply to your reply to my post all day, unfortunately we are a man down at work and I have to make up the slack so have been monsterously busy all day.

But here goes. I kind of agree with our poor pairings at centre back. But I do feel the old fashioned idea of beauty and the beast has evolved some what in recent seasons. Certainly more so in europe though than it has in the premier league. I think there is no place in european football for uncultured footballers at the highest level, by that I mean all players now need to be able to play football and pass the ball and retain possession. Including defenders, so although I think you still need to have a strong physical defender it is equally important that that defender can be useful with the ball at his feet.

I think last season we suffered when Vidic was out dur to the fact that none of our other defenders are aerially as dominant as Vidic. Jones will get there, he has the physicality but he needs to learn the art of positioning and timing your leap which are just as important as strength if you are to be aerially dominant.

I also agree that we dropped too deep due to a lack of pace in our centre backs. That I think can be sorted by having a DM who is able to drop back and help out and by not having our full backs commit themselves so high up the pitch. that's not to say that we don't get them to attack, but they need to learn to be more disaplined in doing so. I would suggest they learn to be more spacially aweare and instruct them so that only one full back pushes forward at a time. That way we will always have one full back to help out covering in case of a counter attack.

As for Alex Sandro and Coentrao. Both are very good players, and both would improve our defence. I would worry about Sandros ability to adapt to the prem, although it shouldn't be too much of a problem. And for some reason i've never been totally convinced by Coentrao, he is obviously a talented player. But at times he tends to go missing, and he has a habit of running down blind alleys.

If we were to move for a ready made replacement for Evra rather than signing a young player and moulding them, then for me I can't look any further than Filipe Luis who is a solid defender both in his reading of the game and his aplication of his physicality, but its his clever and incisive passing going forward which makes him a genuine attacking threat.

As for Nemanja Matic i've never been impressed with him when i've watched him. He is fast and strong like you said but for me his reading of the game let's him down. He makes very few interceptions and mostly charges around akin to a bull in a china shop.

Milan Badelj on the other hand has impressed me greatly everytime i've seen him, although he has on occasion been marginalised in some of the bigger games. But he is still learning and is offered little help from his midfield team mates. If I was looking for a replacement for Carrick then he would be right up high on my list, but he does have a keen attacking instinct and likes to push forward alot.

My hope was to release Carrick from his defensive duties to enable him to focus on his creative side. I feel Badelj wouldn't give him that release as he likes to do most of the attacking in midfield. If Hargreaves had never had his injury issues he would have been the perfect partner for Carrick, that's why I was so suprised that Sir Alex never moved for a similar player when it became apparent that Hargreaves was never going to recover fully.

Lars Bender would also be a good option to partner Carrick, but he will cost a lot of money.

I too like Lamela, but I fear he will always be a pipe dream due to his ownership issues. Willian would be a very good option to replace Rooney if he left. But if Rooney was to go I would be inclined to move for a creative player who is creative through his passing more so than his ability to run around or past players. Imo we have Zaha Valancia and Nani who are all excellent at getting around or past their man, but only Kagawa and to a hit and miss extent Rooney who can use their vision and passing to open up teams. And with Rooney possibly leaving that would just leave Kagawa. In an ideal world if Rooney was to leave i'd love to see us get Mata as part of the deal if not then Kevin De Bruyne is a player I rate very highly and would want as part of the deal. there's also rumours that Xherdan Shaqiri is available who would be a great choice also.

But i'll be honest i'm starting to question whether Rooney will be sold this summer. At the start of the summer I was convinced he would be moving on, but I am a little less so now. My worry is we keep him and he really wants to leave. Then he leaves next year with just a year left on his contract for significantly less than we could get this summer. My main worry with this is the two players who'll suffer most if he stays are Kagawa and Hernandez, i'd hate for them to become unsettled and maybe lose them as well as Rooney next summer. Then we really would be up the creek without a paddle.

Your not Harry Rednapps agent are you? Your is cup of tea mate, are we in such a need of major change?
SAF believes he's left the club with the squad at its strongest with quality youth and experience something Sir Matt didn't do.We need at best 1/2 top quality signings players that would have an impact on the squad, players like this are very rare Ronald, Messi, Iniesta that calibre are probably not available but your suggestions as good as they seem wouldn't improve us but slow down or hinder Powells, Januzaj, Lingard, Jones Will Keanes etc.progress and that's our future not Harry Rednapps way here today gone tomorrow now clean up the mess I've made. Our club is so well geared up to challenge on all 4 fronts its so exciting, let the pundits forecast a 3rdor 4th place they've no idea this squad is ready to blossom and prove everybody wrong.

2 smart, positionally sound and physically capable defenders seem to be the new modern partnership and it works quite well but I went with the tried and trusted but I still think every defense should have a Vidic or a Terry in it but that's just my opinion.

If we are looking at a capable passer than why not Eriksen? He has fantastic vision but he seems to go missing at times. At 21 years old, that should be fixable. I'm not too convinced about his ability to make it in the premier league but there are not many better options out there.

My favourite midfield addition would be Sandro. I think heis one hell of a player and will reach great heights if he manages to stay injury free but I think it's unlikely spurs would be willing to sell and even if they are, it would take a lot of money and he'd b a pretty risky signing.

And I too think we should be guetting a defensive midfielder to release Carrick but with him turning 32, I think it would be unwise not to start looking at a younger replacement unless the likes of Petrucci and Ben Pearson highly enough to give one of them a chance .

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2013 10:47:00
Dylan, i'm saying we should be looking at 2/3 new players at most. Two if Rooney stays, three if he leaves. I'm merely discussing the many different options available to us.

Mick, I agree that its always nice to see a battler such as Vidic in your defence. But there's no reason why that battler can't be good on the ball as well. Mamdou Sakho is a good young example or Kurt Zouma. Subotic would be a good option if you were going for a slightly more experianced option.

I've never rated Eriksen that highly, I don't think he or anyone knows his best position yet. And as you said he does go missing too often.

I agree that we need to be looking for a potential long term replacement for Carrick, but I feel that could wait a year and be brought in next summer. Players I feel could be good options are Koke, Kovacic or Verratti spring to mind. Or maybe even Ander Herrera if you were going for a more moble playmaker which abit more experiance.

Agree0 Disagree0

A battler who's good on the ball, both Jones and smalling could be that man .

We conceded to many goals in the first half of the season but during this time we had a few injuries in defence Carrick even had to play cb also ddg was till finding his feet.

Second half of the season with ddg looking confident And a more settled back 4 we conceded far less goals .

Vidic ferdy, smalling Jones and Evans I think we will be fine this year for cb maybe get a new one next summer

I agree Jred, I don't think we need another CB. As for maybe needing one next year well imo that depends what kind of season Rio and Vidic have. But I have high hopes of Micheal Keane making it at the club, hopefully Vidic can get back to his best and Evans, Jones and Smalling all have good seasons then we can let Rio leave and replace him with Keane.

NBC took the rights from espn and fox to the EPL. They will broadcast every single PL game live. After suffering for years watching choppy streams of matches at 7 am are no longer. HD every match on my big tv or on DVR if I want to sleep in. The years struggling and sacrificing as a New York based united supporter are over. Still can't believe tv restrictions are needed to ensure the stands stay full in Britain. In other words come visit New York, well have some beers and watch united in a quality environment with other true supporters. Open invitation. Especially the editors. Least I could do. On twatter, chelsea putting in a final offer of 40m plus lukaku for Rooney. ok twatter is hardly a reliable source these day's. but any thoughts? Personally i'd take that all day long.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would accept that offer, as long we signed one of Modric, Ozil, Fabregas, and Kroos. If not then either keep Rooney or ask for Mata.

Agree0 Disagree0

£40M and Mata, maybe. We as United fans have been spoilt I feel and the great football we're accustomed to has made us our own worst enemy.

Any player that shines in any team we're quick enough to talk about them when in reality, they aren't that good.

Take this for example, Anderson would shine I feel in say Liverpool's midfield. We are too quick to wave the sword on our own players when they underperform. I personally, think selling Rooney would be a very silly mistake and would haunt us selling to a direct rival but that's just me it seems.

ALDUtd

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take Lukaku straight swap, imo he is already a beast of a player and will only get better.

Agree0 Disagree0

So that values rooney at round 65 to 70 million. Are you punch drunk or hallucinating. He will be very underwhelming this season and his legs gone and not worth more that 30 to 35 million.

new poster on site it worries me that a lot of the younger posters have no real reality of what it is like
to support the reds I go back to the early 70s when we used to be caged in at the Stretford end after being there all morning to pay at the gate like others have posted a good f a cup run was the highlight of the season relegation then followed but boy didnt. the doc give us a team to watch the most exiting team I think I have had the pleasure to watch the 80s came and Dave sexton and big Ron and still the highlight was the f a cup. then of course the late 80s and the boss came slow start for him but the old favorite the f a cup started it for him the rest as they say we all know is history.
my point is people who have not been through all this and know no different have been. spoilt and it is now expected to win every thing each year sign big names etc .
just remember we are a proud club with no divine right to win trophies year in year out yes it is nice don't get e wrong
all I am saying is this season get behind Dave and the boys if things don't go too well don't slag them off give them the support they need. and don't forget we have been so so lucky to have had what Alex. brought to the club if nothing this year fine it will b a transition season but like I say get behind the boys they would all die for the shirt well perhaps not Wayne
here's to a great season {Ed007's Note - Are you related to KLOOT by any chance? Welcome to the site buddy.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Also new poster - first went to OT in 1962 - and I was there every home match the season we got relegated & every match in the old 2nd division - what a season that was - visiting places like York City - great days - those days a trip to wembley was all we dreamt off (I try and forget the Southampton final) - and trips to Europe were very few - I did 3 - Ajax, Juventus & Ostend as a friendly (I never saw the match but that's a long and funny story) - anyway we do not have a right to win things every season & have been look to have had Sir A for so long - so get behind the team this season & especially David Moyes & show everyone what great supporters we are

Agree0 Disagree0

As a young fan myself, I get your point, since the worst years for me were the Arsenal invincibles followed by Chelsea, and that only lasted 3 years. Other than that, my time as a fan has been plain sailing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Big Jim Holtons after you

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post IMO.

Although I'm one of the new breed, having been a 'fan' since 91/92 and only really known success, I'm old enough and wise enough to know that we have no divine right to win things. Especially nowadays with all the money being thrown away by other, non self-sufficient clubs. To combat this we have to look to the long term, with a manager who will look to stick around, a continuity of staff and set up and bringing youth through when we can.

Let's all get behind the manager and the team whatever happens. Hopefully we can get 1 or 2 good purchases and put a real push on this season. But most important is that we are there or thereabouts for the foreseeable future on a regular basis. Consistency is key for us I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post. Unfortunately, the 'youngsters' have only known success (that's not a criticism) so have not experienced the many years of no trophies / poor football (Sexton) some of us have. A lot of people will remember 1992 and losing out to Leeds but how about 1985 when we won our 1st 10 games under Big Ron. We won 13 of out 1st 15 games, but then only won 9 of the remaining 27. united never recover and that was the end for Atkinson.

On a similar point, I'm not sure the thrill of winning is quite what it was for me as the expectation is now so much higher. Rarely are we underdogs - beating Liverpool in finals and semi finals when they were ruling the roost was very sweet. Seeing Barcelona off with Maradona was incredible. Yet now I find myself less excited. It was great that we won the league last year but for me it was fairly flat. Perhaps it's just me

Agree0 Disagree0

Ajh
It's a really good point that, for me a lot of the excitement has gone out of the games when you just expect to win or even know it's no big deal if you loose as you will win the next one or 5
Jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post Big Jim I agree with all you say, I also travelled the coutry to watch the boys in the second division - York City away was memorable! I worked in Liverpool throughout the 80s and had to take merciless stick from the scousers but the level of success we had in the head to head matches with them made it all worthwhile.

So I agree, if it doesn't come together immediately with the new management team just stick with them and remember that SAF had a torrid time when he first arrived (who can forget Ralph Milne) and look what happened then.

Looking at our full back. I don't think that we need an additional left back. Evra though is considered a weak link in defense is still a good left back and has tons of experience. Baines? Yes he is good but he is old and far too expensive. We must have faith in our youngsters. I don't understand why people here have been wanting Luke Shaw. I believe Fabio will be an amazing left back in coming years with Buttner as back up. I remember last year many poster here were wanting Clyne. but look. how rafael has turned out! I don't think now anyone would prefer Clyne over Rafael. So similar goes to Fabio. Why consider Shaw or Baines when we ourself have some bright talent.

Plus excited for the season to begin. just hope some great signings

im sure coentrao would change your opinion, no? :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I ink most us wanted Clyne as back up to Rafael not to replace him rather than keep playing centrebacks out of position. And as the club signed Varela they must have recognised we needed cover.

Fabio I sadly feel won't make it as a regular starter, far too injury prone and its getting to the stage of where he's missing too much football. Look at him compared to his brother, he's about 3 years behind him now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabio may make the grade, he may not. But I would definitely keep him for now, since he must be on low wages, he can play left back or right back and he is a very decent back up player.

Agree0 Disagree0

We wanted Clyne as cover for Rafael, which is exactly why Clyne went elsewhere for regular playing time.

I hope Fabio can stay fit and make an impression but I think he's more comfortable at RB. It's always handy to have a quality left footed LB, especially when we don't have a left footed winger - as the LB will be expected to overlap and provide crosses etc.

"It'll be fine"she said. it's Manchester united, they'll sign big players, they'll still score late goal, you'll still have no voice after the game, they'll still win cups, pull yourself together and go to sleep. Yeah 3 am in the morning and I scouring through the net, twitter banter and rumour pages looking for scraps of info on new signings, what's become of me. Time to turn the laptop off and put thing into perspective.

We are Manchester United, sure we are heading into a new season with a new manager and for a lot of us it's only the second manager we've know but as fans we know the history, the 70s were tough the 80s improved and the 90s to now have been unreal. Can someone tell me what the hell the manager of Manchester United is doing acting as a TV pundit. For a meaningless game between two very average teams. Are United not paying him enough so that he has to supliment his income. He has nothing better to do at United. It's an absolute disgrace, did you ever see Jose or Sir Alex sat there looking like a gormless sea horse with a thyroid problem. Someone needs to sit him down and explain that this is the real thing he has the job and he needs to pull his finger out and start acting like our manager

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is that a delayed reaction or have you run out of things to moan about?

Agree0 Disagree0

I did think to myself there is no way SAF would've been a pundit. Hopefully it's not a regular occurance and was just down to him agreeing to do it before he got the United job. Although he still should've cancelled.

Maybe it was decided in order to control the inevitable Rooney debate.
Get a life.

Whistler.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why does Moyes have to follow the grain? He is his own man. Maybe he just enjoys watching football.

Agree0 Disagree0

I admit it felt strange as we're not used to it with SAF. But like George says DM is his own man and has his own views, maybe he thinks having better PR will be beneficial for the team in some way? It certainly won't be about money for DM because he's on more money than he ever earned, that's a silly theory IMO.

In short, although I found it strange to watch, I think you are just getting your knickers in a twist - as usual.

Agree0 Disagree0

SAF did do similar work, he gave them all a chance press included until they spoke out of turn then he'd use it against them banning the tv and numerous press people surely Moyes is allowing them this chance and when they start with their games then he will respond in the same way.
Kloot anything positive to debate about our great club does our manager not have a right to be in the studio and in someway have control over the Rooney and Utd issues which could spiral out of control.

Just been reading "caughtonsh1te"- apparently the president of the LFP in France has said that Monaco should have to pay the %75 tax rate the same as the other clubs to make it fair. This could mean some of their big name players i.e falcao, already looking for an exit. Not sure how true but if it happens than congratulations to Frederic Thiriez, for being the first in the world to make a stand about how money is ruining this sport. On a side note if its true then does anyone think we would put in a bid for falcao, if Rooney were to leave?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A player can only move once in the window?

Agree0 Disagree0

The Lawyers are going to have a field day with this one. I wouldn't touch Falcao without carbon dating him ;) Just looked it up, and apparently one can you can move twice in the window, just not in the same league. {Ed004's Note - Id love to move for James Rodriguez}

Agree0 Disagree0

Technically, you can't carbon date a living being. just saying

Agree0 Disagree0

Technically, it was a bit of a joke.Just rebuffing ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Anything that doesn't make sense doesn't have to be funny, just like the OP, No way Monaco would let Falcao leave, they have all the money in the world to increase his wages plus no club is naive enough to buy players for 60 odd million and sell them because of higher taxes in the same window.

I think Moyes is thinking long term and getting Fabregas primed for next season by showing him we want to buy him.
He'll probably keep Rooney for this season.
I don't think he'll go for Fellaini ( I think Moyes is looking only at top top quality ).
If he can get top quality in before the deadline he will do it ( Ozil or Modric ), but if not I expect him to have all his transfers ready to go next year early in the pre-season.

personally I don't think replacing evra this season would be a good idea. He is clearly a good character and is experienced. he proved last season that he is still one of the best left backs in the league and he added goals to his game also. if I was david moyes I would wait another season and see the situation with luke shaw and try and get him if he's available for less than 18 million.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I've said all along I'd like Baines in to replace Evra but I do admit Patrice is a big character and has great mentality, which would be missed. Evra has become very lax defensively though so if he stays I think a quality defensive midfielder to cover the gaps is essential.

Clutching at straws a bit now, but it does feel like something is happening today. There was no manager press conference scheduled on MUTV today and Sky haven't made a big thing of it allegedly being postponed so i'm not reading too much in that being 'cancelled' but given the first game of the season is tomorrow - there does seem to be a lack of news in the last 24 hours and that is more or less what happened just before the RVP signing last year. I have feeling whatever will be announced will be on MUTV and the next 'live' show is today at 6:30. I can not base this on anything ore than my somewhat optimistic logic.

I am loving this rumour about Ozil. He is my favourite player behind Ronaldo and Vidic, he is young but experienced and he is one of the few players in world football that has a sense of invincibility on the ball. A line of Kagawa, Rooney and Ozil behind RVP would put us close to the champs league, add to him Fellaini and possibly Baines we have a squad I think will win us the league.

When you look at our rivals and their 3 behind the strikers they are all very good but lack depth. City: Aguero, Jovetic and Silva. Chelsea: Mata, Hazard, Oscar. Arsenal: Podolski, Carzola, Walcott.

Although I agree they are all dangerous I don't think they all have enough options to rotate. This is where we can win the league. Kagawa, Rooney and Ozil are all very technical players who are good on the ball, passing should be smooth and accurate but against some teams that may not work, bring in Zaha and Welbeck and all of a sudden we are a complete different attacking outfit.

For me Ozil and Fellaini is now a perfect window, let's hope.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

While I agree this would be amazing, it results in Kagawa playing out of his favour position. I reckon Kawaga would play out of position before Rooney would, but with Dortmund making eyes at him, long term it COULD result in him leaving.

Another thing to consider, is that all preseason Moyes has been playing a 433 formation. This might be down to a lack of options through injury / no transfers (yet?) but it would be hard to fit the players mentioned into that system, particularly an unhappy Rooney.

I suppose we will have to wait and see. I would have prefered to have some transfers in before playing the likes of Chelsea and City, but we will just have to make do for now.

Agree0 Disagree0

RedDub -

If the players were played centrally and occasionally pushed out wide rather than played as out and out wingers I don't see a problem.

My preferred positions would be Ozil on the right, Kagz on the left and Rooney through the middle; but all three have the capability to interchange - so I don't think Rooney could complain too much about where he is playing (assuming he stays).

1redarmy -

I would much rather see Khedira or Modric signed instead of Fellaini. With Fellaini at £23m; there wouldn't be too much difference in the price (£10m max) and both players are considerably better.

On a side note - there's talk of us paying £70m for Ozil, Modric and Coentrao. I've no doubt that these signings would massively strengthen our team; but am I the only one who would rather see us offer £70m for Ronaldo and see what happens?

redseven

Agree0 Disagree0

You say city have no depth for the three behind the main striker they have nasri, navas and toure when he pushes on which he has done to great effect the past two seasons then you say utd have and name a player who has only played in the championship and one who contributed one prem goal last year other players from Chelsea and arsenal spring to mind schurrle, de bruyne, Moses, van ginkel, Arteta, chamberlain, rosicky and Ramsey take off those rose tinted glasses and take another look Mw

Mudit (India)

In good faith from a Magpie loving friend of mine, Manuel Fernandes is being looked at as a replacement for Cabaye (bid submitted for around £3.5m I believe). Whether we put a bid in for Cabaye or not is anyone’s guess! He’s a good player who would add depth and improve the squad but is he a world beater? No.

That’s why I am hoping we do actually put bids in for Will.i.an and Ozil as a priority. We could then allow Carrick to sit deep with Kagawa and Will infront of him with Ozil and Zaha on the attacking prongs with RvP in the middle! That would be very tasty.

Both Telegraph and Mail linking us to Willian this morning. Has the advantage that he is natural on the wings as well as more centrally, unlike a lot of the other creative mids we're being linked with. Can't help but think that would strengthen our squad more overall and it would deprive Liverpool of another of their prime targets. Personally I think we need a more deep lying playmaker like modric to replace scholes and bring a bit more class to that position. Why buy more competition for Kagawa when he's already up against Rooney for a starting spot in his best position. Obviously that's assuming Rooney stays, but Kagawa needs a chance to shine!

Ravel Morrison has had a very good pre season, scoring 6 in 5 games. He had raving reviews and an England call up is talked about. It looks like he's finally git his head down and a move to London has done him the world of good. I hope we have a clause to by him back. Anyone now of one? Also City are was again keeping a close eye in him, hopefully we are to.

If he really is a reformed character and proves him self this season, then he should be resigned because this lad will come back to bite us on the backside.

Another one to keep an eye out is Jonathon "Joniesta" Williams at Crystal Palace. He's nickname some him up and he has a lot of potential. He's neat and tide with his passing, has excellent vision, quick, has an eye for goal and loves go forward with the ball at his feet. He's a player we should be keeping a close eye on, and if he does well we should sign him in January and loan him back, much like we did with Zaha.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think anybody doubted that Ravel had quality.

personally I don't think he'll make it at a high level but that's just my opinion.

I'd rather concentrate on how Macheda does at Doncaster than worry about an ex "doesn't know what he threw away" player.

On Williams, he has a bright future but he needs to make sure he has a full season and performs well this year, again I personally think Januzaj, Powell, Will Hughes and Max Clayton are all better players with bigger futures.

The Moon.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm pritty sure due to ravels attitude no such clause was placed in the deal but if he can get a few good starts in the first 11 and still looks good in the prem then we should go back for him as he had potential

Agree0 Disagree0

The Moon,

I have to disagree with you, I think Williams will go onto be a better player than those you said apart from Januzaj. You only have to see his performance against Croatia, in which he was man of the match. He played Modric of the park that night. He has huge potential and would be a good addition to the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2013 07:51:39
I still believe Bale is the key to this potential transfer merry-go-round and I think Levy has intentionally engineered it so it won't happen until the last day thus scuppering any chance of his rivals benefiting as a result. Think about it, If Bale goes to RM, who are going to be the potential benefactors? given it could then trigger a move for Ronaldo to Man Utd, and then a move for Rooney to to Chelsea. I'm convinced Levy is already spending the money he's getting from Bale and it would be just like him to ensure no other premier league team indirectly gains from the move.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well given the fact that they have spend 50 million so far and looking to spend more, I tend to agree with you.
