Not United related I'm afraid but I saw Yaya Toure tonight with an agent/estate agent being shown around the outside of a huge house in Hampstead, North London. An area where a lot of Arsenal & Spurs players live. Would he go there really? I was gobsmacked but it was definately him. Just thought I'd pass that on.

United related. Allegri to Juve is now old news but Sky Italia speculating who will now leave Juve, as Juve fans don't want him & regard "Milan" Allegri as Mediocre & are calling him The Moyes of Juve. This is the man that when at Milan, tried to tell Pirlo 3 years ago he was finished in the centre & put him on the left wing before Pirlo left for Juve. A lot of unrest already apparently.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Could be just a personal investment - although Mikel seems to be off and with Luiz & Lampard leaving I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea make the move. I remember an interview where Jose said something like "Yaya is Man City".

I can also see them coming in for Rooney as well if he doesn't fancy LVG or vice versus - if they pull off Yaya we all need to worry though.

trying to take our minds off transfer speculation today at lunch we spoke about if you could change 1 simple rule for next season what would it be? why?and how would it help the game?
My suggestion would be like Rugby I'd allow the trainer on to treat simple injuries while the game is still being played. Why? because it would encourage less feigning of injury and cheating, it would also stop this mental putting the ball out of play to allow an opponent to be treated for BS pretend injuries. It would help the game by allowing less time wasting stoppages and the game would be more free flowing.
Other suggestions were, the obvious video replay, automatic 10 min sin bin for questioning a referee decision, and an auto red card for asking a ref to book an opponent.
ideas welcome I desperately want to see a thread without signings being mentioned. ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I like how you suggest a system to ensure refereeing decisions are correct as well as a system for punishing people for questioning decisions regardless of whether they are right or wrong!

I'd like to see a challenge system similar to tennis and cricket wherein a team can refer a certain amount of decisions to a video ref.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a rule as such but I wish they would start giving penalties for players grabbing attackers in the box at corners . Some defenders don't even bother to watch the ball at corners anymore and just play their man. A flurry of penalties would hopefully make players think twice.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jul 2014 22:41:09
Not my suggestion, It was another that came up during our discussion, we spoke about 2 challenges per half a bit like tennis I like that idea to, but badgering and questioning refs every decision is a blight on our game. Every time the ball goes out of play both players claim for the throw and even when the player knows he kicked it out he Fu&&s the ref out of it with a volley of abuse its disgusting and needs to be stamped out of the game surrounding him looking to get opposition booked or red carded is BS

Agree0 Disagree0

If have the clock stopped like rugby, when the balls out of play , injuries etc. that way when 90 mins is up, no injury time to play, just next time balls out of at it's game over

Agree0 Disagree0

I would make a few changes, firstly only the captain (or a nominated player if the captain is the keeper) can speak to the ref along side the guilty party, cutting out on players crowding the ref trying to get someone sent off. Secondly I would make 'simulation' a bookable offence, when you see players rolling around on the floor like they have been shot it is frankly embarrassing, I know this would be hard to enforce, so maybe a mandatory 5mins off the field to 'heal' could also cut this out
Lastly, I would introduce a bonus point if 4or more goals are scored to make the game more exciting by encouraging attacking play, we wouldn'tprosper too much from this rule but iI think it could improve the game as a whole

I like 4 points for an away win 3 for a home win any draw is worth a point

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jul 2014 23:29:07
I would get rid of penaltys, i'd play 30 mins extra time then if the scores are level, u have a 5 min rest break and then go into 30 min periods of golden goal where at the end u get a 10 min rest followed by another 30 min golden goal and so forth. At the very start of the golden goal time after extra time u get 1 extra sub that can be played.

Football is a sport that should be won as a team playing football as a team & scoring goals. Not to see which player is tired and nervous enough to miss a penalty kick.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think you would need to get Dr Fuentes involved for that!}

16 Jul 2014 23:38:31
Stand-united

That was mine, I think refs have enough to do without having a watch to look at and stop and start as well. In a game that's already 3-0 we get 2 minutes added, in a 1-1 we get 5-6 minutes added, seemingly with hardly any difference in stoppages or any reason. During added on time of 3 minutes a player can time waste for 2 minutes of it and nothing extra gets added. So frustrating and one of the ways rugby league is miles ahead of football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Any team called manchester city or Liverpool should be kicked out of the premiership . I would mind that rule being introduced .

Agree0 Disagree0

Ironically a lot of the rules people are asking for are rules that are already in place and aren't enforced properly!

Agree0 Disagree0

Make arguing with the ref punishable with a direct freekick and then if a player continues to argue with the ref the freekick is moved back towards their goal by 10 meters. If it is moved back inside the area it will become a penalty.

Works a treat in rugby. How many players do you see arguing with the ref? None, ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd like to see sin-binning introduced. Sometimes its easy for a player to take a yellow and it would hopefully make them think a little bit more if there is a possibility that they will leave there team short for 10 minutes. I think it would particularly help against teams who are just intent on spoiling play. After accumulations of fouls the ref can warn the captain and say the next player is sitting out for 10. They use this well in rugby; in fact lots of good rules in rugby which have improved the spectacle for the fan should be considered.

I read this before somewhere (could be here) but thought it was really a good idea to avoid penalty shootout deciding the result in elimination games

If scores are tie after 90 min, have the penalty shootout immediately and the winner will be awarded 0.5 score.
Then let them play for another 30 min and anyone who scores will get score 1.
This will ensure the team who lost the penalty shootout will still have 30 min added time to score and win the match.
And people get to watch an attacking game in those 30 min because one of the team has to attack.

pancho,

Interesting thought, but they are the 2 games I look forward to watching more than anything, nothing like the atmosphere at a Liverpool game and the noise coming from the pubs on the walk up. I know your post was tongue in cheek, but just thinking, as long as they aren't winning it, I am happy for teams like that to be in the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

I like your idea Andrew B we have hurling here and that is called an extra 10 metres for dissent and you very rarely ever see players giving the ref grief

Agree0 Disagree0

I hate it how Goalkeepers have the right to punch players, jump with their knee up (to break the ribs of a challenging attacker) or simply can't be touched if claiming a ball in the air. Refs constantly just give the easy option for the keeper and it is farcical how often this happens and the decision should go the other way, or no decision should be made.

The same rules should apply to the keeper as they would for a defender - they don't need extra protection because they can choose whether to come for a ball.

The Higuain assault by Neuer was an obvious example, but personally I had 3 ribs broken by a keeper storming out with a knee chest height when I didn't even see him coming, yet he got the freekick because he hurt his knee!

Keepers get too much protection in the modern game at all levels.

I remain hopeful about Vidal. His own words show that our interest is genuine. I find it too hard to believe that we are going to give up over the price.

Rather, I think the delay is more on Juve's side. They have had the sudden turmoil of Conte, a well-loved coach, resigning. How much our bid had to do with that we don't know.

From Conte's point of view, he may have felt he had a very good squad and was just a few players away from really competing in Europe. The club not only fails to get them, but then he faces the prospect of losing his best player. It is never easy for a club to lose their best player, think of the impact of the sales of Ronaldo for us, Bale for Tottenham, and we shall see for Liverpool now. As hard as it is for us now to wait, the prospect is even worse for Juventus and their fans.

I am hoping that Juve's announcement today was only to save face and buy some time for Allegri to plan for life without Arturo Vidal, the new center mid at Manchester United!

Vidal.
One of the best box to box players in the modern game.
This guy has goals and assists in him, but more importantly he's an engine!
I feel he could be the spine of the midfield.
He will bring a good attacking drive to the team also.

However, we got to get him first. And the simple way I see it is the player is up for a new challenge, and he will be grateful and motivated to join Manchester United for his new challenge. But, we have to pay for him! I'm not sure what the price is being asked but we have to pay it because these type of players don't come round to often.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree. Vidal and Herrera would add real drive to the midfield. The two of them will make the players around them better. And Vidal has that swagger and edge to him!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jul 2014 20:27:09
For all that seem to believe everything that a paper prints, a certain paper is saying that Vidal has turned down a contract offer from us of £100k per week and wants £150k. Now, to put that report into context, Ashley Young is on £120k per week.

Ignore everything any paper prints unless there is a photo of LVG stood beside a certain player holding the new United shirt. Listen to Ed002 and you won't be far from the 100% truth, listen to the papers and you are as far from the truth as if you had asked the nutter stood in the local pub who talks to himself.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Didn't a newspaper tell you Young was on £120k a week :)

I would be amazed if he is on anything above £75k a week Brendan mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Checked a few places Syd, everywhere I could find came up with the same £6.24m per year. Check it out my

Agree0 Disagree0

A few places? Where? Don't you think they too are getting their info via the media? Don't get me wrong he could well be on £120k a week, but I find it hard to believe.

Agree0 Disagree0

You really think we'd sign Young from Villa and put him on more than our captain? Vidic was on around £100k at the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd

How do you think we have the biggest or second biggest wage bill in the league and something like 4th highest in europe mate. We have a lot of players grossly overpaid.

Am I the only person on here that cringes when other posters use's the term 'my source'
C'mon you don't know and neither do they(if they exist)
It's safe to say that sometimes the player himself cannot be sure what's happening with regards to transfers.
We all enjoy the speculation, it's soap opera for lads, but let's not pretend we have any insider info.
Good work eds by the way especially during silly season.

just makes them look stupid.

Agree0 Disagree0

I kinda agree but at the same time disagree. There are a lot of my sources stories posted and I admit the majority never come to fruition however we all know things can change quickly in football so its possible some were in position but fell through. I also think if we are quick to dismiss or ridicule we could drive away a provider of genuine info. Personally you remember a lot of the names of posters so time usually indicates who has called things right or who has called things twitter.

Everyone has an opinion on the Vidal situation with some professing to be in the know. I am completely not in the know so this is purely speculation on my part. I think Nani, Evra, and a barrel load of cash will go to Juve in return for Vidal. The sooner the better

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think it is related to Nani or Evra. I think it is about what we are offering and what they want.

I think we will get him and always said we would make a bid on him. It is also a question of if we pay over what we see the right price is there other options that present better value.

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH
The situation with Vidal is simple, he wants the move. His agent really wants the move. It's a case of paying the fee juve want. I expect this deal to happen. Juve was clever in there press conference. By stating he wasn't for sale and stating they have had other enquiries, . They was never going to say he was for sale. This deal will happen, my source has not been wrong once this summer

Agree0 Disagree0

Far to many people are flapping like old women at the sight of every article that says deal off, i'm not in the know either but I have a very good gut instinct and its telling me the vidal deal has been quietly done, he's touring his homeland at the moment though and most likely dosent want his privacy invaded even more than it already is so has told man utd and juventus to keep quiet until he returns to italy.

Agree0 Disagree0

So do we love him or hate him!?

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH, Evra, Nani plus cash would be great IMO. One of the problems we have had for years is offloading unwanted players. Nani has been "on the transfer list" for years now.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Juve want straight cash for this one. And we have the money to pay it. Vidal is open to the move. So what could go wrong lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jul 2014 17:26:14
So Sly are now reporting that Juve Sporting Director has stated that a number of clubs have enquiries about Vidal, but no negotiations have taken place, and that Vidal is a Juve player and is happy to stay that way. Another way of driving the price up a bit more?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jul 2014 17:18:08
Juventus don't want to sell Vidal in the same way athletics didn't want to sell Herrera, we no the value. It's up to us to pay it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Jul 2014 16:51:53
we still need 2 centre backs, maybe a full back, a defensive midfielder and an attacking creative player! come on van gaal and giggsy we still need another 5 players! personally I would like those players to be Aurier, hummels, vermaelen, vidal, di maria, I know some of those are unlikely.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We could do with a cheap back-up LB. One top notch CB. One b2b midfielder and a pacey forward. Hummels/Vidal/Reus would do me nicely.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe we won't need a back up LB if Evra doesn't leave. Does any think Conte's resignation may put and end to Juve's interest in mad Paddy?

Agree0 Disagree0

BennyBlanco - According to one of the papers (I know, I know.) part of Conte's unhappiness was that the club were trying to fill the LB slot with a cheap, older player (Evra) rather than shell out for a more expensive player that he wanted. If true, then Juve will still be interested in Paddy but, like I say, it's paper talk.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney. I would be locked away in my room for a while if we managed to pull that off. Not sure I see it happening though. Vidal I think is getable but we will have to pay what Juve want.

Hummels and Reus I think are less likely. I don't see Dortmund selling both and they don't have to I don't think.

I think it more likely we will see Vermalaen as our experienced CB signing with maybe a de Vrij type signing if he doesn't rate one or more of our current centre backs or plans on playing with 3.

Winger again Reus would be ideal but I suspect we will end up with Depay or maybe someone like greizman.

I would be happy with that.

Reus and Hummels and Vidal I suspect is a tad optimistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

MU seem to be very interested and willing to pay, but there are concerns regarding his knee. That may be the hold up. We will see.

hi, i'm a man utd fan, I've supported them since I've been 6 years, I am now 16 and over the last few years have seen players just slip through are finger tips and I am worried that vidal will do the same, we really really need him, he will improve are midfield immensely and is exactly what we need. so far we have signed shaw and herrera, shaw absolutely quality signing but i'm not too sure about herrera could prove me wrong but he's not proven and isn't the big name signing we need to put a statement out there! rumours say we won't have enough to sign vidal, well if we sign herrera for 30m, we should definitely sign vidal for 40, vidal is a proven quality player and if we only sign one more player and its vidal I would be happy, just sign vidal and we will be sorted!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jake don't worry be happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Red deviljakestar

Welcome to the site I will agree with you we have missed on a couple of players in the past but we still have manaved to build a team and win titles where as our competitors in the lsst few years have signed a lot of playwrs.

I believe ww never missed out on price or not willing to buy the player it is only because we value each player according to their valuation and would not overpay .

I think some people might not like that but in the real world you buy things at the right price and shouldn't need to overpay for anything. If we have a genuine interest in a player and player wants to come I am sure the board will try as much as they could within their means.

Giuseppe Marotta has said at a press conference that Vidal is not for sale, that they had offers from "important clubs" and have decided to keep him since he is happy there. So that is the end of that saga then.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oh the naivety.

He actually said "we haven't put Vidal up for sale" and the "he is happy here" is based on what Vidal said during the week, that he will be happy at Juve if the MU thing falls through.

What do you expect him to say RF? We have let our manager go, brought in a successor that most fans dislike and that we are selling our best player? Is he going to say that?

Agree0 Disagree0

. and Sir Alex said he wouldn't sell Real Madrid a virus! Keep calm, the last thing Juventus supporters want to hear is that Vidal is leaving.

Agree0 Disagree0

What else was he supposed to say?they've just lost their manager he was hardly going to announce vidal was leaving as well, southampton did it with shaw and bilbao with herrera, I would'nt take to much notice.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Players decide their futures but I checked with Vidal and he is happy to continue playing with us."

This quote is key. Players decide their futures.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has also said they have no intention to sell him, but these things are often up to the player! A little bit of buck passing there?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah and if you believe that load of rubbish you will believe anything, he's just saying what the fans want to hear. vidal may well show juventus respect but if push comes to shove I think he will force a move, I've never been more confident of a signing than this one. keep the faith :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Les Reed is a prime example, he said there hadn't been any enquiries for any of his Southampton players. It was utter nonsense.

Agree0 Disagree0

No matter what people say people will believe what they want to be true

Agree0 Disagree0

Jred, or we will believe people without an agenda, like the Juve president.

Did you believe Les Reed when he said there had been no enquiries for his players?

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe we are at the point where both Vidal and his agent would be happy for Vidal to join MU and we are currently trying to negotiate a price with Juventus. Whether we agree a price or not (I have doubts, see further down) remains to be seen, but I believe Juventus will sell him if their valuation is met.

Jred, do you think any of this is wrong? In your opinion or are you just going to sit on the fence and criticise others?

Agree0 Disagree0

I would hazard a guess that if Juventus accept an offer agreeing to his sale they would have to pay Vidal a loyalty bonus. However if the club say he is "not for sale" then either he asks for a transfer forsaking any loyalty payment or stays. Probably a financial position and it is up to him whether he now requests a transfer. Whether he will come to us is yet to be seen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Red Man, to be fair some of the quotes during translation were incorrect. They actually say they haven't put Vidal up for sale, not that he's not for sale. The editor has confirmed it all comes down to finances and I agree that what you are talking about is probably one of the issues. Fingers crossed lads, but I think he may end up being a little too expensive come the end, I hope I'm wrong though. I didn't expect us to get Shaw.

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
Im not criticising anyone or calling them naive ;)
But you see it on the site all the time some people may think we will sign x player or sell y player and no matter who says what they stick with it.

If a manager says " he's not for sale " or "we don't want to sign him " people will just post, what else could he say.
If a paper runs a report that we are interest in a player that people rate then it must be true if people don't rate him then it must be false.

Have juve decided to keep vidal? I don't know but every player has a price.
Is vidal happy at juve? Again he could be but that doesn't mean he wouldn't move to an other club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough Jred, but surely you can see why managers and chairmen/executives/presidents do tell porkies? We know there are negotiations taking place, we also know that Juve need to sell one or both of their prized assets to fund their signings. So I certainly will be taking what Marotta says with a pinch of salt. I for one hope we can pull it off. Can you imagine a midfield pairing of Herrera & Vidal with Rooney or Mata ahead of them?

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jul 2014 20:27:33
Totally sick and tired of this window. The rubbish printed by the press leaves us with no idea what's true. I hope we are getting Vidal and trust Ed002 to keep us informed, but at the same time Woodward needs to either make it happen or move on. His fannying about will leave us still short of much needed players. Only we seem to have these long drawn out possible deals. Others identify their targets and in a short time have deals done. i'm on the verge of insanity reading different things everyday.

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
He might be telling lies or he might be telling the truth i'm not going to pretend to know.
They may have a good offer on the table for pogba but want to put some positive news out.
Time will tell

Agree0 Disagree0

Jred, no one is pretending to know. It's called having an opinion. IMO he is doing what he has to do and that's to keep the Juve fans calm after a massive couple of days and disruption. Just like Southampton's Les Reed was doing for Southampton, yet most of us knew he was talking rubbish and he was. You are right that people generally believe what they want to believe, but you must also understand that not everyone in football like managers etc, tell the truth all of the time. Did SAF mean what he said when he said we will not sell RM a virus? Ronaldo, Heinze & RvN. Did Ayre and Brendan Rodgers tell the truth when they said Suarez will not be sold? Sometimes there are hidden agendas, sometimes it's to protect the fans. But not everything the club says it true. That's all I am saying. But you are right when you say that some people believe what they want. Sort of selective believing. Not everyone though.

I read an article today which stated that LvG has been a fairly slow starter at all his previous clubs.

Granted that he has gone on to win titles with those very clubs but this season we have easy fixtures to start with(on paper) so we should try to take as many points as possible.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He will need to Galvanise the team first though, because those "Easy" teams are going to have a go based on last year so unless he has to get them mentally prepared regardless of the team otherwise it won't be an easy run in

We have the skill we just need the return of the never say die Mentality

I know all the eds tend to dislike this sort of question but which CBs are united actually interested in? The usual names are being thrown around as well as the Dutch players. I expect van gaal wants to evaluate our current stock before making any moves but surely there must be some indication of targets?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

MU have an interest in Vermaelen, Hummels & De Vrij. But I imagine Hummels is the number one target.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jul 2014 14:21:49
I have no ''sources'' and it's purely my speculation but I think we will go in for De Vrji as 1 of 2 CB's if that helps?

I suppose depending on Vidal, if we miss out, we might splash cash on Hummels but if we sign Vidal, Vermaelen as a cheap alternative. Can't see us spending close to £30Million on each of Shaw, Herrera, Vidal and Hummels.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well we might just do it ports maybe just

Agree0 Disagree0

I have thought all along that Vermaelen is purely a back up for Hummels. De Vrij may be a target in his own right though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hummels would be main target for left side with Vermarlen back up/more realistic. De Vrijwould be my choice if we also want a right sided pplayer. he looked very assured in the WC and Van Gaal knows all about him.
For me it would then allow for 1 of Smalling/Evans/Jones to depart with my choice Smalling (yes I know some on here like him, just for me I would sooner the other 2)

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure I agree.
If we sign Hummels+De Vrij and have only 2 of Evans/Jones/Smalling, we'd be one big injury to Hummels or De Vrij away from being left with 1 established CB. Also doesn't leave LVG many options if he wanted to play 3 CB at the back on occasion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Juice, historically we have only ever had 4 main centre backs in the 25 man squad. Remember we are able to select under 21s so could bring Keane in if needed.
Also, I think Carrick will have a part to play if we do switch to a back 3.for me he is possibly more suited to the centre position of a back 3 than any of our current centre backs.
Also, I think this set up will not be used too often and more as an option against certain teams. just my thoughts

Apart from Shaw who we have already signed we do not seem to have been linked with many young British player. Which young British players would you most like to see in the Red of Manchester? Apart from the obvious Ross Berkley (Who I would love us to sign) I think Calum Chambers and John Stones would be fantastic signings.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree with you on calum chambers.
Although i'm interested to see our own youngsters develop under lvg :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I like Chambers a lot he seems to have a very good footballing brain and is a great athlete. Would be Ideal for us really. Surprised we haven't been linked with him really. I think Stones will become a fantastic player, again h reads the game unbelievably for such a young kid and is just fantastic on the ball, long term England replacement for Rio.

We do seem to lack quality central midfield youngsters in Britain, even defensive midfield players which is strange given how combative British football is, I can't think of one name who could fill a DM role well.

Moggi has confirmed that. Quoted by TuttoJuve, Moggi revealed "Could be (all about Vidal), but with an offer worth €50m you have to accept and then find replacements.
Quotes in Italian media today.

If that is true it won't be from us!

The Times' journalists are getting information that MU are not even in for Vidal and never have been. We know this is false.

Now either MU have balked at the price and are doing some repair work, trying to save face, or MU are being very secretive.

I really hope we do not balk on this one. Vidal would be a real coup and our midfield would be once and for all repaired.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wouldn't expect anything else from spineless woody!

Pancho,

What, that he has learnt from mistakes and is keeping everything under wraps this year so nobody knows what is going on?

Agree0 Disagree0

Pancho, last summer it was Ed Woodward who was releasing info to the media. This season he has kept his mouth shut and MU are being very secretive. I believe that is what's going on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd,

I agree, I think we've learned from last summer and are running a very tight ship when it comes to talking to the media about transfer targets.

I'm confident we'll sign Vidal.

Agree0 Disagree0

I still think he may end up being a little too expensive. The knee reports may also be an issue. Hope you are right RS.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is still spineless!

Hi Ed002. There are reports in Italy that Conte has resigned. Does this have anything to do with United agreeing a deal with Vidal?

Cheers!

Is Evra definitely going/ already gone? If so will we sign left back cover or is there someone young coming through who can play when shaw is not. I am not that knowledgeable about utd youth so any info appreciated. I know that Blackett went on loan at Blackpool last season, how far is he from the first team picture?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Blacketts progress has stalled and IMO whereas a year or two ago he looked like an almost cert to make it into our first team obviously over time but he hasn't improved and if anything has took two steps back.

Well, today is where the new era begins. LVG gets his feet under the desk for the first time. I for one am very excited about what he will bring and how he will make us play. And with the Vidal deal nearly wrapped up according to a lot of people, we are in great shape going forwards. At the very least I hope that the Vidal deal is done in time for our pre-season tour.

So LVG first day today, can't wait.
We should really start to see things moving along now on the transfer front, both those coming in and them not fit to wear the the shirt.
Exciting times :)

Haven't really read into it much but as much as I'd love Vidal to sign for us, is it not possible that conte resigned because of the vacant position of Italian national team manager? Could be way off but he was claimed to have stated he would find it difficult to continue to win with juventus. I've got to say though the prospect of signing Vidal and possibly strootman in January is very exciting.

002, do you know if Conte resigning had anything to do with Vidal departing? Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Of course not.}

002, will manager leaving have any effect on MU's pursuit of Vidal?

And is it true that we have upped our offer for Vidal? Has it been accepted?

Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Conte knew the financial situation and he knew that it was likely one, and perhaps both, of Pogba and Vidal would leave. There is shoprtly to be another discussion about the transfer of Pogba. I am not aware of Manchester United increasing their offer for Vidal right now - but it would be an excellent time to do so if they want to push ahead.

Ah so we have made an offer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks 002, I think if Chelsea are going to get Pogba, MU need to get Vidal to soften that blow.

Hi eds, enjoy reading the site, keep up the good work.

When asked tonight if Conte left over Vidal, ex Juventus Director Luciano Moggi is quoted as saying, "It could be, but with an offer worth €50 million you need to take it and find replacements".

Sounds like Utd have increased their bid and Vidal is on his way to OT. Finally some positive credible news about the deal it seems.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - I am hoping that's what happened today. I really want Vidal signed tbh}

I know me too, we can finally have a world class midfield and with that we can be back near the top.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes for the first time I believe (not hope) we will get Vidal. I read a long, informative, article yesterday about Conte and he being the reason Juve were not selling. Others have mentioned it but apparently he was assured(before signing a recent 2 year extension) he could keep Vidal and Pogba.

Vidal will transform us in defence midfield and attack. There may indeed be better players in world football, interesting debate, but none who suit our needs like Vidal.

Agree0 Disagree0

How brilliant does Vidal - Carrick - Herrera sound? With Carrick the next one to be replaced. Dynamic, solid, technically very good.
