Ronaldo:I was showing some skill to Paul scholes one day, not many players could do the skills I can do, scholes took the ball of me and pointed to a tree 50m away and hit it with one shot, I tried this ten times and missed, he just smiled and walked away. Brilliant !

Everybody is reading to much into this demaria interview. The interview was done for a french football magazine.when he said he nearly joined p.s.g. and that every player would like to play in the French league I believe he was only being polite. Even stevie wonder could see United are twice as big as p.s.g.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

About time someone talked some sense about the situation!

Depending on the severity of injuries and anything further in the next week or so who do you think will make up the midfield against arsenal.
Could we see a 3 of Fletcher, Fellaini, Di Marea? Maybe entrust the youth and bring Pereira in.
Also will we see CB pairing of Blackett and McNair or will that be deemded as too risky with Smalling playing instead?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Blackett-McNair too risky and we should play Smalling

I do not understand. =P

Agree1 Disagree0

I think he will play Fletcher, Fellaini & Rooney, sticking with Januzaj and ADM out wide. I don't agree with this one iota, but we are riding high from Palace so he won't mess with the formation imo, hmm!!

He will play Smalling and a youngster, I doubt he will rely on the two youngsters.

This has 0-0 written all over it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Will Herrera not be fit? I imagine that he will play Herrera, Fellaini and Di Maria or Januzaj.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha. nicely put Mumbai Boy!!
I am hopeful of Herrera Fresh but have not seen anything to suggest this is a definite.
Logic dictates that Smalling can't be as bad as the last game.and if he has any brain he would have learnt from that. However at the minute he looks like a rabbit in the headlights any time someone approaches him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Brad.

Yes Smalling had a bad moment(2 rather) in his last game but he will obviously try to prove he is better than that and this might work in our favour.

We should start Smalling-McNair.

Herrera, Fellaini should definitely start.

Has Carrick been confirmed to be out? If yes we have no option but to put Rooney in mid.

Any news on Falcao and Rafael?

If Rafa is back, I would prefer Valencia to be put in mid along side Herrera and Fellaini and Rooney up top.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good call Mumbai, Valencia looked quality in CM last time out, just depends if LVG trusts Fellaini deeper and where Herrera & Rafael are fitness wise.

He might go back to the diamond with fellaini Herrera di Maria and Mata with Rooney dropping back to help and van persie staying forward. Smalling will play. Abysmal luck with injuries

Agree0 Disagree0

The Diamond is ADM's and in turn Utd's best friend. He needs to drop this winger rubbish as our players don't suit it at all.

Beast,

I am finding myself agreeing with you a lot at the moment, it is worrying me haha ;)

We do need to play the diamond, the width should come from Shaw and Valencia / Rafael and Di Maria can be tucked inside and go out wide if need be. His talent is massively wasted with him on the wing and hopefully we will go back to the diamond this weekend, even if Fellaini is the man dropping in behind Di Maria and Herrera. Also agree about Valencia, he had a great game in the centre, just needs Rafael to be fit for longer than 20 minutes.

Agree1 Disagree2

Nice one GDS2 - the only thing that will be stopping LVG is the fact we played City & Chelsea with this new formation and he would consider Arsenal the same type of game.

Also he is crazy and doesn't know what he is doing, (threw that in so you can go back to disagreeing with me, it upsets the natural balance otherwise, haha).

Roll on Saturday.

Agree1 Disagree0

I like the diamond but we where conceding goals .
Lvg ditched it and we have conceded 2 in the last 3 games . 2 of them games against good teams.
We haven't been great to watch in these games but i think lvg will continue with 4-5-1

Agree0 Disagree0

Beast
on di maria, in the 9 games he has played for united he has done better playing tucked inside but he has played the majority of his career as a winger and is very good there .
He is capable of playing well in either position imo.

There is no denying he is crazy unfortunately, but I do feel like crazy brings with it a little bit of fun and uncertainty.

Got my fingers crossed so much for Saturday.

Agree0 Disagree4

Jred - its true the diamond does leave us a little more exposed, but playing 4-5-1 leaves us with hardly any attacking threat because RVP isn't mobile enough and our midfield can't box-box it quick enough - providing options for the man on the ball.

If we had a Vidal in CM and a mobile striker then ADM would be fine for the wing I believe, but as it happens he is the only player with penetration we have and he is not involved when stuck out wide - besides Shaw can do better without a winger taking up space imo.

Truth is I never really rated ADM that much out wide (he is good but not great), which is why I thought £60m was way too much to spend on a hit and miss winger. I accepted I was wrong a month ago with this view as I didn't expect him to play CM for us and he has looked incredible when played there. The past 4 games my original view seems justified, he either isn't a great winger or our team isn't built to accommodate him as a winger, either way we are wasting him out wide.

ADM is the primary reason we looked deceptively better going forward in a couple of games. Like Fellaini there are certain games he should play in certain positions, but recently ADM has been one of our worst performers which is why we have regressed again performance wise - one man's performances is making or breaking our teams whole display. That is seriously wrong - the past 4 games he may as well not have been playing.

Agree1 Disagree0

Beast
I made the point before that our improved attacking style was down to di maria rather than lvg .
I agree the last 4 games he hasn't played well but after watching him for a number of years i think he is a top player but can be hit and miss and that's playing inside or out wide.
I surprised you never though thought he would play cm, he played there all last season for madrid

Agree0 Disagree0

I also think 4-5-1 is very negative

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah Jred I just thought LVG would play him out wide, we are lacking quality wingers and he favours the two wide men. With Herrera coming in I just assumed he was being signed as a winger. I much prefer him in the middle and LVG is all about versatility so it makes sense, I just hope he realises we are not ready yet to play with ADM stuck out wide.

Hey guys. 'Chavs' fan here ;)

Was just wondering who you united fans think is the best out of the following three

Di Maria
Sanchez
Hazard

I'm pretty sure if you ask on United page, they say di Maria, on chelsea page, all say hazard (apart from me lol), arsenal page they'll say Sanchez.

But I think Sanchez, he's such a qaulity player, and would love to know your opinion. Thanks

Sanchez is an amazing player, I've always rated the boy highly. But in truth there really is not much separating either, Sanchez just pips it for me atm.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think I'd have to give it to Hazard who is maybe the most dangerous 1v1 player in the league. He's young and surrounded by quality in the current Chelsea team. Sanchez and Di Maria are both class though and have done exceptionally well since coming to the EPL.

Agree0 Disagree0

You know, I actually chose Di Maria as well back on the Chelsea page :)
However I think it also depends on the playing style of the team as a whole. United needed a creative player IMO more than a direct one, so I think they're better off with Di Maria instead of Sanchez.
Both are a little better than Hazard, that's how I feel it. But I wouldn't want to trade him for any player in the world. He's awesome and still has lots of room to grow. That's something the others don't have (my opinion).

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't call it at the moment as Chelsea, Arsenal and Utd all are different stages. All three players have their amazing strengths which are similar and small weaknesses. ADM has the worst weakness as he gives the ball away a lot, but he contributes more and looks so much better than any of our other players when on form (when in the middle). Also we would see a better ADM more regularly when surrounded with movement/quality. Sanchez does well as he is in a team that moves and has a lot of good passers of the ball, always options and he can capitalise on the space created. Hazard is top class but drifts out of games - but he is the difference for Chelsea and look where they are. In my perfect team I'd have Hazard, ADM then Sanchez, but they are all much of a muchness.

Agree1 Disagree0

The onlt difference is hazard is off to Real Madrid

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey guys, this has turned into a quite brilliant debate over the three pages.

I thought you lot would all say Di Maria, and arsenal all say Sanchez, that has absolutely not been the case

Cheers for replies

To the dude that said hazard is off to Madrid, isn't that Di Maria guy off to P$G buddy ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Psg would be a step backwards, he might go there when he is coming to an end, plus he won't get better wages than he is getting now!

Current form I'd say Sanchez, Hazard then Di Maria. In terms of overall ability if to say all were on form then Di Maria, Hazard Sanchez.

Agree0 Disagree0

1 hazard
2 di maria
3 sanchez

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanchez for me. Wish we'd tried (harder) to sign him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazzard, Dimaria, Sanchez for me. Not much separating hazard and d maria and i think the players around them is very different and hence why hazard at the moment looks scary.

Is it true Angel Di Maria is already eyeing a move to PSG? I personally don't believe it as I thought he turned them down in favour of United.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

From what I read PSG was his preferred destination but they were unable or unwilling to pay what was needed. Only the player and those close to him will know if he chose us over them or because we were his only option; but as far as I can see he doesn't look too happy at the club and that is showing in his performances. I can't say I blame him. He thought he was signing for Manchester United - but as of yet I'm still to see a 'Manchester United' performance so far this season. Perhaps it was a reverse 'Robinho' type deal?

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Nov 2014 04:08:52
His preference was PSG but the deal failed due to FFP restrictions. Man Utd were the only realistic option left, hence.

Didn't his Missus come out and Say they're both very happy in Manchester?

Agree0 Disagree0

Whatever his missus says means nothing. He's left madrid and obviously wants to go straight back as it was in the metro or whatever.

Agree0 Disagree0

How do some of you guys no psg was di marias preferred destination? I've never seen them words come out of his mouth once and nor have any of you.
