If we start with Carrick tomorrow i think we can say we wont win. I know people go on about his silent roll, and does a job that not get noticed. The problem is he been noticed now but for giving the ball away, slowing game down, and in my opinion when he is on field brings out the worst in other players.
Also i think we should make a cheeky bid for van da vart in Jan, the guy seems a little unsettled at Spurs atm, due to him been left out the Europa squad, and could see maybe a deal involving him and Carrick or maybe Berba. Done shoot this down just ones guys opinion.

Not united related but is anyone else watching barca atm? They really are a class above anyone i can remember watching. And fabregas has fitted into the team so well, was he really this good at arsenal or has he risen to the challenge.

It amazes me that you talk about naming Carrington after someone who had a big effect on United and then don't mention the man who had the biggest effect on United's youth and who kept the club going after Munich. Jimmy Murphy. If anyone deserves something to be named after him or a statue it is Jimmy Murphy. RAINFISHTROMBONE

Andy carroll has scored 2 prem goals so far in 2011 in the same time leon best the man who replaced him at newcastle has scored 11 prem goals. So if carroll's worth 35m then best is worth 157.5m, watch out for liverpool's bid in january. Lol.

I am so sick of reading about De Gea and Fergie's ''dilemna'' about dropping him. No wonder Sir Alex himself gets fed up with the press asking him. How many times does he have to back De Gea and say he's our no.1 goalkeeper? Literally any excuse to attack and de-stabilise the club. Lindegaard (in the team through no more than standard rotation obviously) had an ok night in europe in the week but wasn't sensational by any means. He pulled off the sort of decent saves we have seen De Gea make in every game so far. Added to that his distribution was woeful whereas De Gea's is outstanding. Don't get me wrong I like Lindegaard and he looks like a decent back up keeper to have.
It's not just us, I would feel the same as a Chelsea fan watching AVB getting asked about Torres. The press just wind me up. Rant over.

Down the page I saw someone suggest we should go for Barkley and Rodwell, I know we will never get both but if you could pick one, would you pick?
Rodwell - Stronger, taller, better at tackling, good in the air and has a rocket of a long shot. Better defensively. Would suit Anderson in a midfield partnership and even Cleverley
Barkley - Faster, more attacking, eye for a through ball, extremely highly rated. Not as "quiet" as Rodwell of the pitch. Not very good at defending. Brilliant passing. Would need Fletcher Ect beside him in midfield.

So who would you choose? If you had to pick one?

On the sponsor and naming issue.

I could see Carrington and maybe a stand named after someone from our history i.e Edwards/Charlton/Best etc and or SAF but then in the title 'sponsored by ???'.

This would give the sponsor a part in the naming and also keep the historical side in connection with the club.

Arsenal haven't got a chance this year. Awful stuff. But I suppose that's what Wenger deserves, letting Cesc and Nasri go, replacing them with Arteta and Benayoun, buying Mertesacker - the slug - instead of coughing up a few million more for Jagielka or Cahill. The return of Wilshere isn't going to fix the mess they're in.

1. United
2. City
3. Chelsea
4. Liverpool
5. Tottenham
6. Arsenal

Liverpool's only realistic threat for fourth place is Tottenham IMO.

I've read on here a couple times that Pogba might play against Leeds? Any more news on this possibility? I'm really keen to see this guy play with the first team. I just have this feeling that if he makes a step up like this, he could establish himself in the team this season.

Concerning Cleverly. I really like him also. I think his partnership with Anderson is excellent, I just worry that perhaps if Anderson were to be injured, Tom's efforts might not make for as much in the middle. Does anyone else think this?

Though in general it certainly does feel at the moment like it'll be the reserve kids coming through and making the difference in our team rather than big summer signings. Feels like it may have all be timed perfectly and we might see a procession of talent all arrive at the same time. We could be on the verge of seeing the basis of a united team that'll last for 10 years!

I see there has been some debate over weather the Glaziers are good owners or not so heres my two cents.
Now the first thing you need to look at is the debt, and it's a huge debt which is only there due to the way in which the Glaziers took over(effectively getting the club to buy itself). Now the waste of the clubs money in this way is nothing short of criminal and i will never forgive them for it.
Now we should look at what they have done for the club(even if it's done for their benefit not the clubs), they have massively increased the revenue of the club in a time when the financal world is in turmoil which is very impressive, now i know they have relyed on the clubs good name and standing in world sport to do so but to say anyone could have done that is abit nieve. There running of the club has been Superb if they hadn't created such debt in the first place then we proberly would be singing their praises. Ultimately though they have only maximised the clubs revenue for their own benefit. Also their hands off approach is such a refreshing thing to see in modern football ownership, just look at Hearts and Chelsea to see how easily an owner can make a hash of it and embaress the club in doing so. I think it important to Realise that whoever owns our club will want to make money from it so to say the Glaziers are leeches is abit daft as any potential owners will also be looking to do so. The pursuit of financal supremercy by our club ment it was always going to end with us getting these kind of owners, how can you aim to be hugely financally sucessful and not attract people who will look to profit from our success.

So in short the Glaziers run the club in the right way by letting the people who understand football run the footballing side of the club while aggressively expanding the earning potential and increasing the revenue of the club, they have made money available for signings(Anderson, Nani, Carrick, Hargreaves, Valencia and De Gea all being signed for large fees) and Run the club in a financally responsible way. BUT and it's a big one, they have wasted millions if not yet a billion of the clubs money in procuring the club, this is money paid by fans from all over the world and for that their image is damaged beyond repair, and they will always be remembered as poor owners despite all of the excellent work they have done for the club. On the bright side the end of the debt is insight and hopefully then the money made by the club can go into improving the club if not then the Glaziers will really have a problem on their hands.
