Hey guys this is just a thought but if we do pick up class CM that everyone is crying out for would we really need a LB? Hear me out say we get a Martinez/Witsel type player to shield the back four we would be much better in possesion meaning it should be easier to blood a youngster. I am by no means saying throw him in the deep end but actually rotate Evra right now he plays like he doesn't have competition (which he doesn't). I don't really see value in the market for a LB some would only hinder our current prospects developement. Having another LB in training and on the bench could be a kick up Evras' backside and bring the best out of him. Maybe he's just saving it for the start of the season ;) lol.

Darren-Bermuda

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I think a cm is more important than an lb. we're crying out for a big physical presence in the centre of the park, and I don't think we could cope with an injury to Carrick or Cleverly. Although the same can be said for an injury to Evra. Ultimately I just don't think there are that many top notch lbs available at the moment. Evra needs cover but if it's a choice between a top class cm or average back up to Evra, then I know which one I want.

Just an observation everyone.

I know are on the lookout for a LB.....Baines has been mentioned and Emilio Izaguirre. I watched the Ross County vs Celtic game today and Izaguirre looked very average....maybe I got him on abad day, but he didn't really try the County defense and had no pace. People tear Evra apart, but he isn't the answer for sure.

So now we have the stories of Utd trying to do a secret signing, keep it very quiet as don't want others jumping in. The wish list prob be De Rossi or Martinez&the ones u expect would be Dembele or Witsel but heres a random name which could be way out but fergie likes the surprise signings&tends to have he's favs&was interest before he went to scouse...xavi alonso, year left on contract I think&also with modric on way there.

Could it be that we manage to sign Baines and Dembele? Putting the budget fears aside, that would be a dream summer as we would have our left back competition and also a midfield enforcer type player. This would be better value than Witsel at £25 million as I think we could get Dembele for £10 million and Baines for £15 million.

As funny as the Liverpool defeat is, they were down to ten men. It is great to see us do better than them without even playing, but until we have played Everton and beaten them we can't say much as we could easily have egg on our face.

Well, aren't we all just massive hypocrites?

When United lost to Wigan and even when we lost the Title we had a lost of posts from Liverpool fans enjoying the moment while we were ranting on about how low they must have sunk to be celebrating a United loss like a Liverpool victory.

Then I come on here to see what the latest debates are all about and I'm flooded with Liverpool scores and jokes...in fact the majority of people on here were celebrating this liverpool LOSS as a United WIN.

Even the Norwich post below, a few times people said 'focus on your own club' - YEAH! because thats exactly what we're doing right now. You could probably include the Liverpool lad that posted Yesterday and this morning, a few of you were harsh to him and told him to worry about his own club, well somebody might as well tell him not to bother. We're concentrating on their club far more than our own.

Just a gentle reminder to all of those on this site that this is a Manchester United site for Manchester United fans. NOT and I repeat NOT a Liverpool discission or a Liverpool laughing association website.

I am shocked and a bit disturbed by the post below from RFT which mentions my tag about 5 times and basically calls me a liar and even that I am working for the Glazers.

Just because I am positive about the club, enjoy supporting my team and have a different view to you Kloot doesn't mean I work for the glazers. You would have to be a bit thick to think the glazers care about or even know this site even exists never mind send somebody to it as a marketing ploy, pathetic.

I am from Manchester as I am sure the eds can clarify with my ip address and I have a season ticket and have stated on many occasions I can't wait to go to the game next week.

I am just a mad fan and love the club and get so much enjoyment from it, just because you don't doesn't mean you have to slag me off on here.

At least I know why the post earlier had so many disagrees now like I asked, it was you so that you could post more rubbish about me, fair play I fell into the trap and questioned it. Well done.

I actually commented on your post last night saying it was a good post and I agreed and have enjoyed some of your posts recently, so to suddenly turn on me and write a post like that is disgraceful.

I will probably leave the site as I am guessing that's what you want as i come here for enjoyment and banter, neither of which I found your post to be.

Sorry for having a positive attitude I now realise to be on this site I have to hate everything to do with the club and blame the glazers for every little thing that goes wrong but never say well done to them for anything that goes right. So I have learnt something.

GDS

Believable10 Unbelievable9

Pardoe

Agree7 Disagree3

GDS, some people on this site have become so obsessed with the Glazers that they are actually upset that we have invested well this summer. They have been hoping that we do not buy anyone substantial so that they can tell us they told us so.

Truth is we have had a good summer and we have bought well. Still two more positions that need looking at, but other than that we have done well this summer.

Red Spark

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2012 21:52:02
Jred,
If that was true then fair enough. Search for my name on here, less than 5% oft posts even mention the glazers and I struggling to find one where I stuck up for them. I put a message on here saying I was looking forward to seeing how people would put a negative glazer spin on here when we signed rvp, but I was really having a dig at all the no names and posters on here who have been writing all summer that we have no money and are falling behind and might not make the champions league etc.

I am not stupid, the glazers are terrible and the money they have taken out of our club is a joke, but just because I choose not to go on about it constantly on a banter site I apparently am American and work for the glazers.

The similarities between the posts from kloot and Danny pughnighted are so similar I could easily suggest they are the same person, but they probably aren't and it would be pointless to suggest it.

I love united and I enjoy watching the football so much and having banter on here, but I didnt think kloots post was banter and could easily make people on here think I am a right person

GDS

Agree2 Disagree1

Red spark,

Happy for every single person to disagree with my posts and put their opinion forward, even give me some banter, kloots post wasn't that, it was a deliberate post aimed at me to make people think I was some sort of glazer spy. Laughable but from the responses you would think people actually believe him!

GDS {Ed007's Note - I've said it for 2 years, if there are any Glazer spies or employees on here, send me money and I will make sure it is only good publicity you get on here. I am open to negotiations any time night or day. My morals are lower than a dachshund's bollocks and am easily led astray and open to blackmail by slutty looking women.}

Like many I couldn't give a flying F**k about the glazers but no matter how the persons paint it they have done right by the team let them whine and bitch

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

straight up man chill out, so RFT said your an employee of the glazers but i dont think any body really believes that pal , its banter.
we have 600 mill supporters do you think a glazer agent on this site would make a difference (no offence edds)

RFT can be harsh and a bit mental but you made a post that was a bit of a dig at the anti glazers and then moaned when they replied.

your right only about 5% of your post mention the glazers but to be fair an awful lot of your post are sarcastic comments to OP's.

So forget the glazers suck it up and banter about what you like, football and united.

Personally though, you should be concerned with how on earth your lot are going to surivive this season.

Lets not beat around the bush, if you could sign RVP, on the contract that he's on you would. but you can't so therefore you'll look to slate it.

question for the Eds or anyone else who would like to comment. It is clear Sahin is going out on loan for reportedly 2m a year. If that is true why are we not showing any interest. It looks like a very cheap option to deal with our midfield and look at the like of Erickson and few other s next summer.

BTW mancicni has come out and said he wants Javi Martinez {Ed004's Note - I do not know. Maybe we have shown an interest but the media haven't picked up on it or maybe we have other targets. I for one would love Sahin}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Would Utd be interested in a loan deal for him do you reckon Ed or would they want to buy him outright? i'd take him on loan any day!

DB-Red {Ed002's Note - A player cannot be sent on a two year loan. Sahin has been angling for a move to AC Milan who are being cautious in the market or a return to Germany with Bayern Munich but there is no interest from them. A move to Besiktas has been rejected although Galatasaray would like to take him to Turkey. There has been confirmed interest from Napoli, Spurs, Inter, Liverpool, MIlan and Arsenal although it looks like Manchester United has dropped the interest they had. I understand that Miguel Pardeza would prefer to see a sale at an unrealistic price (as quoted to AC Milan) rather than a loan which others at Real Madrid would prefer. Napoli, Arsenal, Liverpool and possibly AC Milan and Gala seem to be the viable options at the moment.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, wasn't Tevez on a two year loan? Or was it 2 1 year loan deals.

Here is a master stoke in marketing. Firstly you take 75 million pounds out of the club and put it into your pocket. Then you go out and purchase a player for 24 million to be paid over 4 years and place the debt on the club not using any of the 75 million you have taken from the club. Let the supporters pay the debt whilst you keep taking money out. Then you get your employees like GDS and others to come on sites like this and try and spin the story into a "Look the Glazers aren't that bad really" story. Do you really think we are that stupid. Know matter how hard you try GDS people are waking up to the truth. Season ticket sales are dropping dramatically. The share sales have been a disaster and all the serious papers are printing articles about what is really happening behind the scenes at United. The press days have turned into a joke as you are not allowed to ask players direct questions you have to sit there as some employee carries out a question and answer session as the press are allowed to take notes. I am as pleased as anybody to see RVP sign and I will be at Goodison on Monday night hopefully to see his debut in a red shirt. But imagine if they had given Fergie the 75 Million to spend. GDS you seem to be getting a little paranoid I notice from some of your posts or maybe it's just that you realise you have been rumbled. I also notice that most of the posts against you are from match going Reds from the Manchester area. Do you get the message. I AM KLOOT

It is interesting that GDS ,often wondered whether it stands for Glazer Defence Secretary, has used the RVP signing to be positive about the owners.

Red Man

Agree9 Disagree5

Have not strengthened the midfield properly, IN YOUR OPINION. If we were that bad we would not have lost the League to a goal in the last minutes of injury time in the last game of the season. The powers that be obviously have a different opinion to you in terms of player replacement, etc. You'll just have to get over it.

Agree0 Disagree3

I hate the way some people rate united by "we only lost the league on goal difference"
jred

Agree4 Disagree0

Obviously we lost the league on goal difference but look at the gulf in class between us and City. Yes it is in my opinion but unless you think not getting past an easy group stage in the Champions league is acceptable or failing in both other cup competitions is ok especially given who knocked us out in the league cup then no doubt you will be happy about where we are. I am more demanding than that

Red Man

Moon, I considered all of your back four, but was worried Agger may go to Barcelona. I thought Cahill or Ivanovic would play ahead of Luiz and I have noticed Richards isn't liked by Mancini and he hasn't used him once in the new 3-5-2. That could be because he is injured, but if Agger goes to City it could be Agger or Richards and it would be Agger IMO. I think going for Lucas and Carrick could be a massive mistake as they do not score goals and rarely get rated. Both players that go unseen by most. I think Hulk or Cavani could play ahead of Torres this season.

Syd, While I see where you're coming from I do think that Agger will stay at Liverpool.

When I built the side I did think that Ivanovic will most likely be playing RB this year but since then they've signed the lad from france, although Luiz does score more than Ivanovic so I'm hoping that will get me some extra points.

Yeah, I seem to be picking up on that as well although surely Richards, Kompany and Lescott would be a better back 3 than Clichy, Kompany and Lescott.

My thoughts withh Lucas and Carrick is that Lucas picked up a fair few MoTM awards before he got injured and Carrick plays for a side that wins games haha.

We'll soon see though, I've seen a lot of articles in the sun which comment on Carrick being under-rated so maybe this could be the start of the Carrick Bandwagon. Maybe not though.

It'll either be a good choice or a bad one haha.

as for Torres, you could be right but neither are at Chelsea so it really doesn't bother me that much. What I do believe however is that Torres has found his shooting boots, he seems to have regained that yard of pace as well as his confidence and for that reason I think he'll be getting 20+ goals this season.

Looking at yours I think Rafael will be battling with Toni for a fair bit of the season and his injuries are also a concern hence why I chose Richards over him. I really can't see Kolarov playing unless Clichy is fatigued, injured, etc. although he does score goals.

I also think Hazard will have a season like Silva's first. I can't see him doing much at all.

all in all though I think you've got a fairly strong team. I wish I done my transfers so that I could have shoved Cazorla in there.

Putting in a £5 million for Dembele could be either the most sensible thing that we could of done, or perhaps the worst thing that we could have done. If Dembele pushes for a move then Fulham will have a lower priced due to our orignial offer, but on the other hand, they could put a rediculous price on him that we won't go too. Personally, I think he is probably the only viable option as he is going to be quite cheap but just what we need.

RedDevil19

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I do like Dembele and believe he would convert to a top midfielder no problem. For me he has much more to his game than Fellaini. He's quicker and far more energetic. Just as strong and has a striker's finish. For under £10m he would be a bargain. It's no coincidence Chelsea and RM are looking at him too.

Sydney!

Agree2 Disagree2

Sydney

Would we look at Dembele if all the share money actually went into our own pot?

If we bought the same standard of player for midfield as we have done for attack we might even challenge in Europe. However I expect to be disappointed as our owners have left us limp in the market to a point where we spend 22m on an admittedly good but older player and it makes some claim the owners are suddenly good.

When we play City YaYa will dominate and teams that put three central in midfield will strangle us yet we just havent strengthened as we need to as yet.

Red Man

Agree3 Disagree0

Red Man, anyone who now believes the owners are good simply because we have bought RVP are deluded, but it does put a few people in their place. The people who said we wouldn't spend big money on a player older than 26, that Berbatov was a one-off. It seems some people have been proven wrong.

I agree we need a tough player in midfield, ideally Witsel, but I think you are massively underrating Dembele who I believe is better than Fellaini.

Sydney!

Agree2 Disagree0

Sydney

I don't underestimate Dembele but is Martinez better? When we come up against YaYa or Martinez will Dembele really be good enough or will he be good enough to carry a two man Central midfield against three? We have had Robson and Keane and why do we not aim for that level again

Red Man

Agree1 Disagree0

The manager may not see it the same way as you are seeing it mate. Martinez is a good player, but he is massively overrated on this page. There are other options and at lower prices. Don't forget we are a self sufficient football club, we are not bankrolled by a oligarch or sheikh. Money will not be a bottomless pit just like it isn't at Bayern, RM & Barcelona. All teams have to budget, even City are doing it.

Sydney!

it really p****s me off that people have been saying "city dominated the league last season, they're gonna run away with it again," when in fact they only won it on goal difference and if anyone runs away with it this year, it will be us or at a stretch, chelski.
nov00

Believable1 Unbelievable5

We flattered to deceive last season and did not reach City's standard of play. So whilst they didn't run away with it the question is whether we can play better. I remain concerned at getting overrun in midfield and not being able to supply the bullets for what is now a strong attack. If we added a similar standard midfield player then we would rightly be favourites. Most pundits can see this but we will have to see what SAF does in the remaining window

I watch Bayern Munich court Javi Martinez with total frustration. For those like GDS who applaud the Glazers should open their eyes and realise it is that standard of player we need. However having spent the vast sum of £22m we will likely have to scramble around for a bargain now.

Red Man

Agree1 Disagree0

Red Man, have you perhaps thought that SAF may not want to buy Martinez? We know the manager likes the look of Witsel so perhaps that's why he doesn't want Martinez?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree3

Sydney

Yes but is it because SAF doesn't think Martinez is good enough, despite almost everyone else believing he is, or because he doesn't have the budget? If he is after one more will it even be a CM he looks at or the Nani replacement we seem to have been looking at leaving our CM exposed for another season?

Red Man

Agree1 Disagree0

Why would the manager be willing to spend £30m on Lucas, but not on Martinez if he truly wanted the player? I like Martinez and believe he would be a good addition, but the manager may have other ideas. Even though Martinez is a good player I do not think he is worth £30m and clearly neither do Barcelona and RM. Barcelona will go for Song and RM wanted Witsel or Dembele.

A few lows too, the loss of Pogba being one for me. Definitely a midfielder with a bit of bite would be the iceing in the cake. I'd like to think before the window shuts Mr Berbatov will be let go. I have always admired him and would really like to see him getting game time somewhere. Too good for a bit part player. For all the times we have heard him referred to as a sulk and as miserable he has never complained about his situation. A professional through and through.

Red Man, some people just do not want to see what's right in front of them. The club have been happy to let Nani go for well over a year and the only reason he is still here is because we haven't had a good enough bid for him yet. Of course the same could happen this summer and the club may be forced to give him a new deal rather than let his contract run down. Another issue is replacing him. Hazard and Moura are no longer available and there are not many left out there that could replace him.

Just curious guys, do you think that your strikeforce is better than Citeh's? As a neutral, I dislike Man Utd and Man City equally, I'm just wondering whether you guys think you can outscore them and hve a superior goal difference?

It will be interesting to see how RVP, Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez compare to Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko and Balotelli. For me, Citeh's attack just edges it for me, but I have an uncanny feeling RVP-Rooney will be a more potent pairing than Tevez-Aguero! Thoughts?

And with regards to my previous post, someone said I analyse and worry too much about Liverpool's rival teams. Well, as a passionate fan of football, there's nothing wrong looking through the other team's squad and comparing them with others right?

And someone here mentioned that on the Liverpool FC website, there was a list of 10 facts about Oussama Assaidi and #9 were his FIFA stats, well, I'm pretty sure that was intended to be tongue-in-cheek! By the way, I'm surprised one of you guys actually bothered to go to our official website haha.

Anyway, today's the day where the EPL starts and I'm excited like crazy! All the best for your 1st match against the Toffees! I hope RVP and Rooney can click sooner rather than later! It will be mouthwatering to watch! And hopefully we'll beat WBA! :)

Here again?

Rvp and Rooney scored more than all 4 city strikers last season put together so yes I think we have the better strike force!

GDS

Agree1 Disagree1

I agree. I think RVP + Roo are going to be a better strikeforce than Aguero + Tevez but we'll need to keep them fit as at the moment I think they have better backup, thou chicharito and Danny will get us goals as subs, cover for resting players and FA cup games. I'll also be watching alot of LFC games this season (sorry guys) because I do think you have one of the best young managers around in Rodgers. Maybe I'm a bit biased being from NI myself and wanting him to do well, hopefull igniting a bit more passion for the game on our Island, but I think he'll have you's playing great football this season and getting back to CL football.

And one last note, good luck to all the clubs in the PL this year and lets hope it was as exciting as last year. Put on a good show for us lads! EPL RULES

Tommy

Agree1 Disagree1

I have to say on paper I completely agree with you, City do have a stronger set of forwards but on the pitch not so much...Balotelli will be pretty equal with Welbeck and I think Hernandez will out score Dzeko.

As for Tevez/Aguero V. Rooney/RVP - Well I honestly can't call it, both Rooney and RVP are so similar in that they both like the 9 and a half role so they both might be attempting to get the same ball. I do personally think it'll work brilliantly but it'll take a few months before we see the two of them have the same sort of connection as the City pair.

On another note, some of our fans are complete persons and as soon as they see 'YNWA' they'll argue with you for the sake of it. I sometimes get it off you guys when I rarely post on your site.

I read your post and thought it was very well written and thought out, you've echoed what some of us have been pondering since he RVP signing rumours started. I think we'll stay 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 seeing as that is exactly what we played for 90% of the Pre-Season tour.

anyway! Good luck in the opening fixtures (you're going to need it) haha.

The Moon.

Agree1 Disagree0

As a United fan I think we have the better attack just slightly. Our 1st choice pairing will be RVP and Rooney who were the top 2 scorers last season and are also the top 2 scorers over the last 4 seasons. However, it can be argued Tevez and Aguero are just as good and there are valid points for that. The place that edges it for me is Hernandez and Welbeck IMO being better than Balotelli and Dzeko. Dzeko has been a bit hit or miss, like last season where he scored for fun for the 1st 2-3 months then he hit a bad patch and couldn't hit a barn door. Balotelli can win a game for City with a bit of magic and he showed at the Euros he can be a top player but he has the mad side to him which means he is liable to get a 3 game ban at any time. Hernandez works hard and is a predator in the box. One of the criticisisms of Hernandez is his poor link up play but now with the addition of RVP and Kagawa it will be less of a focus because we have more creative talent in the side therefore he can get back to doing what he does best and that is being our finisher. Welbeck is getting better and better, he is also improving physically which is a great sign. IMO he will be played wide and up top this season because his all round game is so good.

Obviously as a United fan who might be a little high on the euphoria of signing RVP I will give us the edge but arguments can be made for either side.

Rjmanutd

Agree0 Disagree0

Balotelli equal to Welbeck? I'm sorry...but that's crazy! If Balotelli was at any other team in the world, he'd be scoring thirty goals a season. He's being held back at City IMO. Balotelli is a game changer, Welbeck just isn't.

I adore rooney hes one of the best footballers ive ever seen in the flesh, but i cant help but think his first 3/4seasons were just so much better. Nowadays when he loses the ball or isnt given a proper pass he flails his arms up. Whereas i remember a younger rooney who would do anything to get that ball back! I hope and pray that the presence of RVP spurs Roo back into the hardworking, hard running and hard tackling player we used to see.

All i can say in well done to fergie gill and yeah im going to say it the glaziers.

And for all the so called united fans who slated the great fergie saying hes past it and hes losing the plot he cant sign big players anymore ETC where are you all??

A few people said "no way will we get van persie, yet we were the only club to match arsenals valuation.

We can all sit here and say we need this player, that player, but the manager knows more than us, if he says the teams is good enough then thats good for me.

Yeah i like a few players who i think would improve our team but comstantly saying this players crap and we should get rid is a joke.

We got KAGAWA on a steal, easily the best striker in the prem to date, and one of
The hottest young players in england.

Dont forget we only lost out on goal difference, a few more clean sheets and goals and we would have won it.

Vidic is back, dea gea has a full seasons experience, along with the signings weve made and cleaverly back fit looking great.

I think we can actually go on and emulate the 99 teams success, not winning the treble but domanating again for the next 3-5 years, in terms of titles and cup finals.

Our team has been improved in the areas we needed, maybe a left back or another cm.

I would watch him burst into the other half not looking up loose the ball and concede a goal with opp players in his position and him nowhere to be seen or a lacklustre attempt at defending it

And i didnt say the glaziers are good or right, but we wanted a big signing and they have backed the manager.

As long as we still compete and they stay out the managers job, the only thing wrong with them is the debt.

We all moaned myself included about signing class players, we signed RVP and kagawa. Tried for both hazard and moura( they decided to choose money)

So we have tried to complete ans we have competed we just wont be made into mugs paying silly money for players who quite frankly are not super stars, they play in poor leagues and have potensial.

So united have answerd our cried we have the class we needed and our team is stronger.

So get behind the team and stop moaning.

STRETFORD ENDER.
