On the debate about diving earlier on today, I would like to add a point that annoys me more than those trying to win penalties. The biggest divers and therefore hypocrites are the defenders. When they are facing there own goal and under pressure they nearly all go over as soon as the opposition come near, and it always results in a free kick, (except when Raphael was bulldozed to the ground against Leicester). Defenders can't go mad at attacking players when they go over easily in every game.

I too find it frustrating. I'm all for shielding the ball but often it is clear obstructin which the refs never give, or the defender feels the slightest contact and falls to the ground resulting in a free kick.

And, whilst I'm feeling so pedantic, every week there are foul throw ins which are never given, players steal 10 or 20 years at thrown ins without penalty, playerskick the ball put and then appeal for the throw. All minor stuff but it does niggle.

Stats can be misleading sometimes, or do we just look at other players with Envy sometimes
Since signing for United
Mata has played 200 mins less for Unted than Hazard has for chelsea (approx 2300mins) in the EPL but Mata has scored 1 more goal has 2 more assists Made 8 more successful tackles and has 9 more iterceptions and 14 less dribbles
So the question must be is Hazard as good as the media would have us believe, personally I don't see the hype.

I think it is more than Hazard is much easier on the eye, them stats don't take into account the speed in which things are done which Hazard has in abundance and Mata struggles with. I don't think Mata has been that bad since joining us at all, his stats are there for all to see, but for 40+ million I would expect a player to be taking the game by the scruff of the neck and standing out more often, getting man of the match awards etc, which he has failed to do.

I think he is a fantastic player

You can make any player seem better than another if you hand pick the stats you want to use. Hazard has created a lot more chances than mata and I have to say i'd take hazard over mata any day.

Chelsea fan. Hazard is our best player, and isn't a statistical player. The amount of goals he's involved in is crazy. He has so many secondary assists and is a nightmare for other defenders.

I have to say IMO he is not your best player cesc is your best player closely followed by Matic. I think he (hazard) is good but a long way short of bale even IMO.

Hazzard can turn a game in a plot second because of his quickness and i have seen this so many times when chelsea have not looked particularly dangerous or looked liked scoring. Mat does not have that in his locker.

Once chelsea get ahead you are playing right into mourinho's football book. Pack the middle, Defend well and pick them off on counters.

Hazard has that little bit of magic that can change a game in an instant, which Mata doesn't. Hazard must have an indirect role in many goals due to the way he stretches Chelsea's play and causes problems to defences with his pace.

I must say though, that considering the lack of praise Mata has had in a united shirt, the number of goals and assists he has got is very decent.

I agree with aron in the fact that hazard is involved in more goals and chances created than mata. Mata needs players with pace around him to be at his best while hazard can individually influence the game. But having said that, I think hazard has performed much below expectations this season and his performances away form home have been quite ordinary.
Also, mata has not played at his best position this season (atleast 50% of the games). Mata is still a brilliant player and hopefully he brings trophies to united like he did at chelsea

Hmm mm, Hazard or mata? That's a good question. I'd take hazard because I think he's more what we need atm and because his speed and trickery has defenses more on the back foot.

Having said that, not sure hazard would have pulled off that disguised pass to rvp at the weekend

Mata can look invisible for long parts of the game, but he has the technical and mental qualities to create goals. But where Hazard excels him is in his explosiveness, which puts a real fear factor into Chelsea's opponents.

IMHO, Eden Hazard is the 3rd best player in the world. Yes, that's how highly i rate him. Like Shahram said, he has made things happen for Chelsea, more so than Cesc.

Deeps.

He has been there 2 seasons but the team only started functioning as they do now when cesc and Matic joined. Hazard is the flashiest player but he cannot function as well as he does without them behind him. his stats are poor and don't stack up against the worlds top players. There are many i'd take before him. He is a really good player I am not dissing him but chelsea did not look like the team they are now with him but without the other 2. The chelsea team would function better without hazard and with the other 2 than they do with hazard but without the other 2 simple as that.

Hazard is world class no doubt but to call him 3rd best in the world is going too far. The obvious two are ahead but then you've got Suarez, Aguero, Kroos, Robben, Bale, Iniesta who are all at the same level or higher. There's then a host of defenders and defensive midfielders who are arguably better but harder to compare.
