Was disappointed with Jose on Sunday, he moved young to RB and brought on Rojo at LB with Shaw on the bench. Shaw has been very good since his return the more game time he gets will improve his match fitness.

I think Shaw will of been pencilled in to play 90 minutes on Wednesday.

We won.

{Ed025's Note - your right, but you dont want to see mozart playing in a skiffle band mate..

18 Dec 2017 22:52:51
Perhaps he was thinking of dealing with set pieces? However I think we will see Shaw play if Valencia is out injured. Could be the chance he needs.

rwwd we won despite mourinho's tactical changes not due to it.

19 Dec 2017 08:58:12
CSM, how do you know that? Did you watch the alternate reality game where Shaw came on and we won more comfortably? We might have drawn had Shaw come on and not been in the correct position defensively as he often is not.

We won. Be happy.

Ed025, I would actually give my left nut to see that.

His tactics is what led to the Westbrom dominance and goal late on as we hung on. We were cruising until mourinho went defensive and nearly handed westbrom the game.

Agree0 Disagree3

19 Dec 2017 10:05:58
Yeah, that's a fair point CSM. I wouldn't have gone that defensive either. I'm not his biggest fan but the bottom line is we won the game and I like it when we win games so what he did ended up being enough. My other team is Motherwell so maybe I just have a higher tolerance for crap football.

I have been a Untied fan for twenty years though and remember periods under Fergie (especially towards the end of his reign but not exclusively) when we were grinding out results and not playing well. I think (and hope) that Mourinho is simply doing what he has to with the players he has and that after the next two windows we will really see what his plan is long term for how we play. His track record gives me hope and I always felt like three years would be how long it would take to sort the mess he inherited out.

I didn't want him at the club (due to his personality more than anything else) but results are improving, the squad is getting stronger, and I'm a patient person who (without wanting to sound insulting to anyone) has so much more in my life than United to think and worry about. I'm just happy when we win!

Peace.

Here's how I see it, we are playing better now than we have in a long time. Give Jose another couple of transfer windows and let's see where we are. His record in the transfer window in generally good and he will improve the squad. If we regress or fail to improve then we can move to replace Jose. I don't agree with removing a manager, especially one which is improving the team, unless you absolutely have to.

Great post RWWD. Completely mirrors my feelings.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Dec 2017 12:11:00
RWWD, shappy unlike Beast i don't want him sacked but he infuriates me from time to time with his football, his signings have not been bad but some of them make no sense, mkhi is not a mourinho player, lukaku isn't a mourinho striker yet both have been signed costing us 100mn+, mkhi by the looks of it is on his way out and apparently we are going to try to sign lewandowski as a zlatan replacement, that signing would not have been on cards if mourinho was happy with lukaku.

His football is at times dire and has nothing to do with players or injuries or any other thing he blames his faults on. Liverpool and City games were a perfect example of what tactics not to use, we weren't beaten or held to goalless draw by better teams or great tactics, the games ended the way they did because mourinho had the team playing with both hands tied behind their back.

We could have seen of the game as 2-0 or even 3-0 had we kept playing the way we were but mourinho football demanded we go into a shell, concede a stupid goal and hang on to a 2-1 against a team who hadn't scored in 6 hours.

Not United related, but how many of the British Public are aware of Phil Foden? He is a Citeh player, but how Brewster was beaten is beyond me? I know Foden got the award as best player, but I think Brewster won the tournament for the under 17's.

I posted on here about Foden, deserved the award. Has real potential if given the chance.

I'm a Liverpool fan and I can still appreciate how good Foden was in that tournament he was literally a level above everyone else. Brewster was brilliant getting the goals and it looks like he is being rewarded with the attention of Dortmund unfortunately for us.

"I will probably not manage a club anymore.
I would make one exception - if a big English club comes for me, than I would do it. Because then I can get the chance to get one over on Manchester United. ''
Louis Van Gaal.

Do you guys think he should have allowed to continue?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

18 Dec 2017 12:57:16
Absolutely not. The football was the worst I’ve have ever witnessed at Old Trafford. Passing sideways and backwards and not having a shot on goal till the 60th minute. That Xmas period last season still gives me nightmares. Me thinks LVG is a bit salty. He should keep his mouth shut and enjoy his handsome pay off.

Agree9 Disagree1

18 Dec 2017 13:28:21
He should be allowed but do you think any big club will take him? This guy is talking through his rear end. If he does I hope he goes City or better still scousers. 🤣🤣🤣.

The guy was a joke and he is more deluded than Moyes.

18 Dec 2017 13:41:47
Yes, 100%. the club completely mugged him off after a success in the FA Cup.

It may not have been perfect, or better than Mourinho's for that matter but it would have been the right thing to do in my opinion.

We moan about Real Madrid for sacking manager's even when they do well, whether you think it or not, he won a major trophy and i consider that a success.

Jose, if it looked like the stuff he served up was a means to an end, a transition, then fair enough. But there was absolutely no sign that the football on display was ever going to change. It was anti-football, that sucked the excitement and passion out of anybody that watched it.

I lost count of how many games I went in to do the Sunday dinner, rather than watch. More importantly for the club, my teenage son, a future consumer, who lives and breathes everything about the club, started making excuses to leave a game early. If it could do that to lifelong fans like ourselves, what do you think the effect of a few more years of his philosophy would have been on our newer fans around the globe.

The ending could have been handled with a bit more class, but hey, we've American millionaire owners so what do you expect.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Dec 2017 19:47:33
LVG was a dinosaur manager well passed his sell by date and deservedly got the sack. He Made terrible signings and bored everyone along the way. His only redeeming fest was that he won an FA cup, which the top four stopped playing for years ago. Two words LVG. jog on!

Hey friends and eds how are you all, I have a question for u all, what do you guys think about Leon Bailey and Malcolm, Man Utd need to sign a winger, these guys are very talented, whom do you think is better and will be a better fit for Man Utd.

18 Dec 2017 10:29:31
Can I have both for Christmas wish?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Dec 2017 12:00:39
Both look like exciting young prospects, Bailey is maybe slightly more proven, but Malcom looks like he has higher potential.

Both are potentially good options. However, are either ready to be thrown in and effect a match consistently for a club at the highest level? Both look like good future options, but they probably aren't going to be able to effect games for us on a consistent enough basis just yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United were very interested in Malcom throughout last season. Manchester United also looked at Bailey before he left Genk earlier this year. Perhaps people should try the search function.}

18 Dec 2017 12:58:00
Haven’t seen much of Malcom but As ed said we are interested, can someone shed some light on what type of player he is? Also is he right sided? I feel with martial and Rashford we are set on the left hand side.

18 Dec 2017 14:32:05
Left footed, and plays on the right. Only watching videos so I can't tell how good he is.

We need both. We have no wingers and no creation. About time we started buying creative players.

18 Dec 2017 15:49:06
Random but would you take zaha back I think he’s a far better player since leaving you (no offence) and could do a good for a far better team maybe not quite good enough for you guys but I think he’s a good player now.

18 Dec 2017 16:06:05
Heard Barcelona are very keen on signing Bailey. Don't know if it's true though

Malcolm is the classic he got potential player who plays on the right and has a left foot. Wouldn't be against signing him but he a player I buy to develop for 2-4 years time, not to start straight away. Same said with Bailey.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2017 12:37:15
Ed001 what is your opinion about both players, I'll be glad to know your opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I really like Malcolm, I have watched him a lot this season and he looks a genuine superstar in the making. I am not sure if he is a striker or winger though, sometimes he seems like he would be better wide and others he looks a better central player. Malcolm is one I think would be a great signing for any Prem team. Like I said though, I am not 100% sure he will stay a winger, so not sure he would be the right choice for a team looking for one of those.

Bailey I have only seen a few times, but he did impress. I can only remember that I noted down his name as someone to keep an eye on as he looked like a player who would be a stand out in the future.}

18 Dec 2017 10:10:14
Whilst it is massively disappointing and it hurts how City for now are ahead of us and playing better, more attacking football I think there are a couple of things worth remembering.
When Pep and Mourinho took over I think everybody would agree that City were in a much better position squad wise and had a much better team than us and league positions proved that. Both teams have improved massively since but they are still ahead of us at this time. My point is Jose needs a couple more windows to be judged against Pep.
We were in a bad place following the SAF transition and having 2 failed managers with different ideas but there is no doubt we are in a much much better place now. Whilst it's true we should be after the money spent but that still doesn't guarantee anything.
We all knew what Jose was like when he came but he was still our best option at the time and has turned things around and is doing a good job. He will probably only be here another year or 2 and we will be in a much better place when he leaves. Let's get behind him, give him chance to catch up with another transfer window or 2, stop looking for negatives and enjoy the inevitable trophies we pick up along the way.
I believe we will win the league or CL while he is in charge.

It annoys me when say considering the money spent we should be doing better. Its all very well having money but it has to be spent wisely. Look at a club down the road. 1 billion spent an no league title in nearly 30 years as an example.
