"Watching the UTD game and it amazes me how the hell they are top of the league, when we were on top at least we were head and shoulders above everyone else. Every time I watch them play it just confirms what a Piss poor league we have in this country and I strongly believe that if we had consistency we would be right up there fighting for the title. We played Utd in two league games and totally outplayed them apart from the first hour at Old Trafford, If we had half of the luck they have we'd be right up there I'm telling you. If Utd were any where near as good as they were even six or seven years ago I would give them credit but did anyone watch the game against Real Madrid? Utd were totally dominated and had to rely on the break. We need consistency and a bit of luck and we'll be fine"

I see AJH and Gav have already commented on this wonderful piece of genius from the scouse page.

I'm almost, almost, starting to feel sorry for them. Mental health issues are not funny. These people need help now.

RVP is frighteningly good.

He links all the other attackers brilliantly, it's no coincidence we play better when he comes on even when he doesn't get that goal or assist.

You have to give credit were credit is due, Nani was fantastic tonight. I would go as far to say that that was the best performance any of our wingers have given all season. He could quite easily have had a hattrick as well as getting an assist. If he could bottle that and do it 8 out of 10 times then we would give him a new deal and he would go on to be a fan favourite and crucial member of a front 4. However I fear its all a little too late and another flash in the pan performance from him!

Fresh!

Chicharito will need to be careful he doesn't risk a silly injury.

You don't pick Anderson to go up against in a 'belly bump', when celebrating a goal.

Believable15 Unbelievable0

18 Feb 2013 21:32:28
No Percy. we don't want to hear about it ;).

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Credit where credit's due at times - he's the only winger we have that brings something extra to the table.

Agree5 Disagree0

Actually, I'd like to hear about why he doesn't do it more often. Clearly the boy has incredible talent but too often he frustrates. He's good enough, he just needs to be consistent enough.

AJH

Agree3 Disagree1

I would agree AJH. But he must be in the squad before Valencia on this form. He could be the difference in a tight game when playing like that and right now I cannot see what fergie sees in vels game to merit his place.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Feb 2013 21:30:57

Nani looking promising that last 10 minutes! Valencia is way too obvious nowadays, he does that stand still thing! he's faster and stronger than most full backs so why doesn't he take them on! Smalling and Vidic are looking pretty solid just hoping we won't have to bring on RVP to get us a goal. The scouse lot would love that!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Playing great so far, it would be a huge boost if he finds some form.

And an assist. love the passing and interplay.

shahram

Agree2 Disagree0

This is what drives me mad about football fans. Nani goes missing in almost every game he has played all season and plays okay for one game against Reading and all of a sudden he is back? Look at Torres he has one decent game in every 15 or 20 but when he does every one goes the old Torres is back and he is class. Fickle.

Agree1 Disagree6

Nani - came out to prove a point - and has proved it.

Agree2 Disagree1

Not really fair George - we all have players we don't particularly like, but you have to give them fair dues when they have a good game.

B****r! If I start typing my name in one more b****y time!

Agree1 Disagree1

If you can blast him when he isn't doing well, it's only fair to hail him when he does. Today he played well. A few good shots on goal, beating defenders like we know he can, and actually putting in good crosses. I feel some of us get so personal, that even when a player is trying to do better, we fail to give credit where it's due as we are not too much into them.

Agree4 Disagree0

He made all the difference in the final 3rd once he came on and won us the game, so let's give credit where its due.

valencia is very very poor, he needs to get his act together!

Believable5 Unbelievable2

He has not had one very good game all season in fact he hasn't had one half decent game. He has been frustrating at best. I have no clue what it is only that he is struggling with one leg being shorter than the other which is giving him back problems but surely shouldn't affect your crossing? He is a shadow of his former self.

Hello guys,
Whilst we all agree that jones has done terrific man marking in the last two games, his versatility, skill etc makes him an exciting prospect. But do you see him in the CB postion in the long term? In some ways i'm scared that he can become another O'shea.
Cheers

Believable5 Unbelievable1

I do, I think he'll be perfect to take over Vidic's role in the lon term, alongside either Evans or Smalling. He could still be used elsewhere in certain games. I'm glad he's versatile and can do a job in front of the defence but I would like to see him given more game time at CB to get used to the role.

Agree4 Disagree0

Even if Jones does turn out to be another O'Shea as you say he would be a much better version and very useful in the campaigns. That would be worst case scenario and hopefully won't happen as he has the potential to be an immense Vidic replacement and could form a phenomenal partnership with Smalling.

Agree4 Disagree0

If he comes away at the end of his career with as many medals as O'Shea, he'll not have done too badly.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Feb 2013 19:20:16
No Rooney and RVP in the starting lineup and Rooney not even on the bench. If this was a league game surely one of them would start?

If it were a league game yes, but the cup is the lowest priority of the 3 and we need to use the squad.

To the 'we haven't won the FA Cup enough recently' no name poster. We have won it more times than any other team. In recent years, whilst other teams have been winning it, we have been pre-occupied with winning the Premier League (7 times since 2000) the Champion's League, as well as Champion's League final appearances. If you are upset about the lack of FA Cup glory, you need to get a grip.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

You sound like a Liverpool fan "we won it loads last century"

Agree3 Disagree7

Ridiculous comment. We won it in 2004, and were runners up in '05 and '07, all the while winning other trophies. I was pointing out there is more than 1 competition and that some people are never happy.

There were rumours, albeit a while back before we knew of Bayern's interest, of Lewandowski coming to Old Trafford in the summer, with a lot of the posters on here very excited at the prospect. I just want to know everyone's thoughts on what he has as an advantage over other strikers such as Cavani in terms of what he can give at Manchester United.

I really do hope we go all out for each competition this season and I hope the players work their socks of to win the game tonight, we shouldn't underestimate Reading.

I made a bet with a few of my mates, we all picked a player that isn't an established goalscorer and each put a fiver in the pot.

As I picked Welbeck (I know) and one of my mates picked Lambert, do you think the Madrid goal could be the boost to start scoring?

I think cleverley needs to go, he's not young anymore and hasn't shown the potential he once did. The likes of bale, wilshere and the majority of youngsters at Chelsea and City are looking better. We still haven't replaced Keane.

Believable3 Unbelievable11

I can see why you didn't leave a name.

TK-Red

Agree6 Disagree2

Not even keep him for the squad? That's a bit much IMO why would we just get rid. We kept players like Brown and O'Shea for a long time, they were never thought of as 'world class' but they still helped us along to many trophies. It is a squad game afterall!

Agree3 Disagree0

So because they have a better play we should sell him? He's very well for us and if we do sign the top cm we want he's hardly a bad back up? also most of teh chelsea ones cost 30mil + and what city ones? also bale is a winger

Agree2 Disagree0

Remind me which team are 12 points clear and who is the manager oh yeah the best manager of all time

Agree2 Disagree1

18 Feb 2013 17:24:38
yeah your talking total crap what youth players at City are these that are better than Cleverley. The only home grown player that gets near their match day squad is Richards and he isn't even local. Same with chelsea the only home grown player they have is Terry and he's ancient! When those teams can actually produce a youth player feel free to come back no name. MrE

Agree4 Disagree0

Cleverly is a very good professional. Agreed that he is behind Wilshere in terms of talent but he does his job well which is pass and move and create space for other players.
And I think his passing is improving every match. My favorite player after Carrick and Anderson.

I hope we play a strong team tonight. I for one love the FA Cup. Its what kept me going in the 70s and 80s. We have 5 days before we play QPR and if any side will play a weakened side it will be Reading. Its no good saying give the youth and fringe players a chance when we have a chance of the treble. All great players want to play every game. The FA cup was always linked to us, but Chelsea have in recent seasons stolen our thunder. Two Cup Finals at Wembley is within our grasp. Neil

Not united related, but have you seen Arsene Wenger's press conference when he went completely mad at reporters?

Funniest bits:

Arsene Wenger: Why are you looking at me?

Reporter: Because it's your press conference.

And also.

Reporter: The fans are pretty upset following the exit from the F--

Arsene wenger: Look, this is a pre-match conference for the champions league tie, and if you wanted to ask me a question about the FA cup, there's an interview after the match. (Something along those lines)

Believable2 Unbelievable2

His players really need to win for him tonight. I just cannot see them getting past BM.

Sydney!

Agree3 Disagree1

Did u mean tomorrow Sydney?
Anyway, I may be high, but I think arsenal will come out as winners tomorrow, score being 2-1, what it all comes down to is whether they can create a big enough performance to go through. I don't think so and I see them getting a hammering in the 2nd leg. 3-0

Lets hope that our fringe players realize that tonight is a great chance to stake a claim to stay in the team and play a big part in what could be a historic treble winning season. If they play well then our players which are currently in our usual starting line-up will have to up their game in order to stay in the team. The more competition the better for our squad

Believable5 Unbelievable0

I suspect we will see a 4-4-2 tonight with Young & Nani on the wings. Hernandez & Rooney upfront and Anderson & Cleverley in the middle. I would guess at Vidic & Smalling at CB's and Lindegaard in goal if he is fit.

ED assuming we sell Rooney I can't think of anyone else but CHELSEA actually going for him.

Practically thinking I don't see him leaving England and in England only Chelsea and City would be able to offer a price which might be acceptable for him and United.

Cant see us selling him to City, so Chelsea looks the likely option to me. {Ed007's Note - Is it not a bit early in the day to be drinking?}
