Tonight i thought ole and the staff got their tactics spot on.
Never mind that cheeses are going through a rough patch its a hard place to win and with them on the back of a hiding this was a tough fixture.
I don't think ole spent any time on trying to stop psg and the full focus was on attack .
Then when we got injuries he tried to play like for like with the subs who were boot suited to the same roles.
But the sign of learning tonight was obvious and that bodes very well.
He did to Chelsea what tuchel did to him. Hazard got no space and mata was hounding jorginho then we were clinics with our chances. Because we didn't miss many.
Tactically spot on is one thing but players carrying out the plan is another. So its full credit all round.
These players are playing for the manager. They trust him and he is showing he trusts them.
Just a shout out for matic he was fantastic in the last half hour walking a tight rope.
He desperately needs an understudy to give him some down time but someone who can take his place too. He is so important as too now is herrera. They allow pogba to flourish and while is working much harder he still is prone to the odd lazy spell.
So impressed by the way ole Aotearoa bed the game and proving that you can learn more from a defeat than by winning.
I wonder what he had up his sleeve for the weekend.

Spot on Ken! Herrera is such an integral part of the team, we would be foolish not to get his signature on a contract ASAP.

Lindelof and Smalling both played well, and I believe Mata was in his correct position tonight.

Happy Days and well done to the lads.

Smalling was a liability with shirt holding and ripping again, slipping over at a time concentrating is needed too, he’s simply not good enough, Young battled but a tad reckless at times, those are the 2 areas in dire need of an upgrade. Lindelof and Shaw I thought was fantastic, Herrera was immense beside his goal, Matic played ok tho his mobility or lack of it is showing more and more. Pogba was a handful, Lukaku I thought battled well and fought for the team, Rashford always a threat, Mata was busy in the middle and again offered a great deal centrally where he should be. All round top performance and we fight for each other which is brilliant to see. Looking dangerous going forward too, is the type of performance Jose used to be famous for. With Lingard and Martial to come in it bodes well. Ole with Mike Phelan at his side is beginning to look like a winning combination.
Onto Liverpool next and a win vs them to stop them winning the league then ole is in a real strong position.
As alluded to on here Europe we aren’t quite ready for the elite but I don’t think anybody thought we was, a few astute signings to improve the starting eleven at centre back (to partner Lindelof), right back (depends on Dalot) and CDM (competition for Matic) we could be real challengers at home and more equipped in Europe.
Long may this continue, well done lads, fantastic.

That was a good performance and great response by the team last night. Everyone was watching how the players an Ole would respond to the PSG result. There's quite a bit of pressure in that. This squad, which has had a few accusations aimed at it in the last few months showed I think that they have turned a corner.
Well done, good result. 3rd away game in the capital against a top 6 team and third win. 6 goals for, 1 against. In those games!

Prm. this squad (with others) has finished in top 4 twice in 5 years the accusations they have faced are legitimate. They have massively underperformed For years .
They will get plaudits they deserve when they perform when they don't they will be called out i see nothing wrong In that.

Super effort again tonight, for me Herrera was man of the match, shout out too for Lindelof, Smalling and Shaw who were excellent. Really admire Hazard he never gave up, worth a punt from us as I think he will leave Chelsea in the summer, probably go to Madrid but with the wages we offer we should try he would be a great addition to our team.

Phenomenal performance today. I was a tad worried but what a response after the PSG defeat. Every single one of those players can leave the pitch with their head held eye.

We out fought and outdesired Chelsea. The tenacity and aggression of the team was epitomised by Ander Herrera. What a player this guy is. He led from the front and was absolutely everywhere. It is scandalous to think he hardly got a sniff under Jose. Gem of a player.

Pogba was imperious at times. Matic again brilliant. Shaw had his best game defensively. Mata surprised me. Some lovely touches and link up play. Smalling and lindelof were rock solid. Smalling gets far too much grief imo. He’s a solid defender whose not as bad as he is made out to be. I would have him in the squad over Jones any day of the week. Young is a weak link but did well. Shaw had his best defensive performance. Rashford and Lukaku worked hard. And Sanchez was aggressive when he came on. Just a fantastic away performance and tactically spot on by ole.

I keep finding myself flip flopping between ole and then Poch. I think you have to look at the fact ole has gone away to arsenal, spurs and Chelsea and not just won but done it playing attacking football. Absolutely brilliant effort. I’m loving being a united fan at the moment. Fingers crossed reports that martial and lingard are fit for Sunday because I can’t wait to play the scousers.

Good post Park, agree with all that, especially that Smallng gets a bad deal. Scandalous is a great word and spot on in terms of Herrera’s treatment. Here’s to Sunday.

Good post park, I just made similar comment before seeing this.
Do we have a new Captain Marvel? Herrera fits the bill when he is at his best, which he was today.

Another easy cup draw for City.

More importantly, what a great response by the team tonight.
We might see the same lineup against Liverpool.

Loved Solskjaer's interview. It's great watching United again. Onwards and forwards.

Great win tonight. Ole and the lads answered some questions put at them. Many positives to take from the game: another great performance from Herrera, another outstanding assist from Pogba, and Rashford and Lindelof look like they have fully arrived in their respective positions.

Rashford has brought a battling physicality along with his surging confidence. And Lindelof looks more and more assured game by game. Even Sanchez came on and played with great energy. Mention too for Mata with some nice combining and movement to help create the first goal. Only negative for me was Lukaku, no hunger to defend or get into the box for either goal.

Liverpool next.

What a great team performance, the CBs were tremendous, Herrera was MOTM for me, Mata chasing down Jorginho, Rashford never stopped running, Pogba doing what Pogba does, Shaw looking a player, pretty much every layer played a part. Smalling was tremendous tonight, if only he could cut out the silly mistakes he’d be some player.

Chelsea had the ball but hardly threatened, what we saw tonight was a United team playing for each other, solid at the back and dangerous on the break. 2 cracking goals and some great defending. Chelsea may be dodgy away but they have been strong at home so 2-0 is a great result.

Unbelievable support from the United fans, never stopped singing and it does feel like something is stirring. So Mr Pogba, are you here next year or not because we’re on the move.

{Ed025's Note - the fans were tremendous AJH..

18 Feb 2019 22:09:08
The fans believe Ed, and it’s been a while. As Lineker said it’s been too many games to be luck. He has out thought Poch and Sarri and there is now a team playing for the Manager. The reaction to the first couple of wins was over the top, the reaction to the loss to PSG was a bit pathetic. Take a step back and look at the whole, away wins at Arsenal, Spurs, and Chelsea plus unbeaten domestically. As Lineker (again) said, it’s some audition this.

Not right now they aren't jred. But yeah, we replicate this result against liverpool and i will b the first to put my hand up and acknowledge. As i said earlier in the week, Chelsea are all over the place and the result against them shouldn't be used to judge. That said, winning at Stamford Bridge has been a mental block for us and we overcame that. Put on a good show the boys. Was cursing Ole to not take off Matic in the last half hour but fair play to Matic, he kept his head.

If we managed to sign Joao Felix, it would be a massive signing albeit I feel it's a year early. That being said if we waited then Liverpool might get their man and imagine Salah on the right Felix on the left.

Just need to work out if Martial would be happy to play in the right or up front with AS on the right.

Sometimes players need a decent run of games to settle down and show their best form. The dilemma for any manager is that this being an intensely results led sport how do they show patience with such players as Fred and Sanchez. These players are obviously very talented and yet at the moment are not doing it on the pitch (when they play) ., Would you be prepared to run the risk of losing several games this season if it meant that next season these guys felt more comfortable and played to their potential.
