Gents,
There's a lot of talk about who we need to sign, how far Barca are ahead of us, ETC, ETC. let's get a few things sorted;
1. You cannot buy your way into playing Barca type football. It's a philosophy and cannot be installed or integrated overnight, or by purchasing certain players year by year. You get the building blocks installed into the youth academy, and with patience the seeds you sow bloom in the future.
2. We need players / our own players are not as 'technical' as the Spanish players, etc. The fact is that our players are actually technically excellent - but they've been taught to play in a certain fashion. To put things into perspective, its like asking a LB to play on the RW after 12 years of professional coaching on how to be a LB.
So in conclusion, let's not panic buy a new team. Yes, buy players that will aid this transistion (i.e. As Eric changed a mindset philosophy of the players around him when he joined). Re-educate, motivate and conquer.

I knw this is not football manager, but we seriously need to improve in Europe.

De Gea/

Rafael Jones/Vidic/Smalling/J.evans Evra/Alba/Fryers

Javi Maritnez/Tunniclife
Pogba/Fletcher/Rooney Cleverly/Barkley/Carrick

Valencia/Gotse Munian/Young/

Welbeck/Higuan/Hernandez

Defense wise evra sometime is sleeping, games like Barcelona/Bilbao. I can understand he is very good person, you can see most player celebrate with him and he is very supportive. But not a captain material!
So Alba sounds very nice and he wants to play for United.

Javi Martinez giving a rock solid cover for our defence and can play as CB. We have Ryan Tunnicliffe who loves to tackle and good passer, we can start him as RB cover!

I see Rooney dropping a bit when we have more consistant attacking players. With that Nani should go, I know he is really good player, but if we want to aim for the top, he is inconsistent and bit selfish.
We can get descent money for him! Young still need of work so I say Munian, he is without doubt gifted. His work ethic is as good Valencia.

Now for a striker Higuan(only23) is the best option, he is good with ball and he is potcher of highest class. 20m sounds about rite. Benzema is clearly first in pecking order.

Gotse, I guess i dont have to say anything.
Ross Barkley well he looks so promising and so good with balls. He is very confident so for future he looks about rite!

Let me know about you guys think.

Pogba has really impressed me since he has been given more chances in the first team. I really would be dissapointed if he left the club. I think he is part of the future for us and will be a main stay in the team for many years (if he stays). The youth we have are great, I don't see a team so ready for the future than us to be honest:

De Gea, Fabio, Rafael, Jones, Smalling, Pogba, Welbeck, Cleverly etc. Its a great young bunch. I'm just really hoping that we can add Hazard to this great list of youngsters. He'd give us that spark that we sometimes lack. We should do all that we can to sign him and a left back in the summer. If that was done then i'd be happy, even if a central midfielder and a right back didn't come in. Ideally we get Cissokho, Azpilicueta, Hazard and Damiao/Wolsfwinkel/Higuain or someone like that.

Great result , could have been better, should have been better and I think SAF knows that and that explains why he was less buoyant than you would expect.

I couldnt understand the first 20 minutes or so why we had such a slow tempo. However once we scored it did seem to help us, then when the full back was rightly sent off we gained confidence and two goals followed.

It was pretty obvious Valencia had the beating of his side of their defence and Rooney had an excellent game. Valencia has the decision making that Nani lacks and that is why I believe he will be chosen over Nani. I dont see Welbeck being the long term solution on the left, I dont remember him once getting behind the full back or causing problems down the left. He had a decent game but his all round game is not top level.

We did not press home our advantage when we got to 5, when we should have gone for more. Still if anyone had said that would be the score I would have taken it.

I noticed some criticism of Rafael, he needs to learn not to get so excitable and not to jump in otherwise he is ok. Evans seems to be receiving some praise and he had a decent game but let us remember this was a disjointed downbeat Wolves who have been struggling to score with eleven men on the pitch.

Great result but we should have pressed home our advantage more.

really loving this new formation with welbeck, hernandez and rooney all playing at once. dont know the exact set up doesn't look like a normal 433 welbeck rooney and hernandez rotating and swapping constantly is really exciting. Also pogba looks really unfazed when playing as if he has been playing a few seasons with these players really rate him above anderson and cleverly. really think our strongest 11 is when all 3 of our attack are playing,

Sir Alex mentioned in the press conference, near the start of the season, that Pogba's contract had a clause in it similar to Berbatov's, where it could be extended for another season. Does anyone remember this? ED syd etc. If this is the case, how can he join Juve??

I'm almost a little disappointed that we sat back at 5-0. We could and probably should have scored 2 or 3 more and completely eradicate the goal difference. Still a great result, and puts big pressure on City against an improving Chelsea. I think Chelsea will get a draw at City.

Valencia and Rooney were very good today. Looking good, let's keep it up.

Even if United dont sign any big names during the summer i am seriously looking forward to seeing who joins the premier league. All of the big clubs will need to buy during the summer as, i dont think im alone on this when i say, the prem this year seemed to be a bit below other leagues. It'll be great to be able to watch match of the day next year with new exciting players turning out for each team. Especially this summer looks like it will be a busy one for alot of big teams not just in England, Barca will be looking to get back on top of Madrid, Inter will be looking to drastically improve their squad as they look miles behind AC and juve. This is going to be a great summer i think!

A great result today and a decent performance against a poor side with 10 men. I can understand players not wanting to risk injury and maybe wanting a clean sheet but i think we should have gone for broke and scored more goals, afterall, I would hate to see s####y win the league on goal difference. One disappointment for me again, Rafael, he's a liability and not utd class.

If Ferdinand leaves at the end of the season then the man that will come is likely to be Inigo Martinez who, at 21, is an excellent prospect and typically a ball playing center back as SAF likes.

The idea of not signing a Hummels or Subotic is that it will get in the way of Smalling and eventually Jones. Even if Ferdinand does stay for next year, Smalling alongside Vidic will be the number one pairing with Ferdinand playing a similar role to the likes of Giggs do now.

So there was a lot of discussion on here yesterday as to what players people on here would like Manchester United to sign so I would like to express mine. Mine I think are exactly the same or extremely similar to that of Ed 4 I think it was yesterday.
I believe midfield is the key position we need strengthened and the idea of having two extremely powerful and strong midfielders is imo a good idea. However both would need to be capable of passing the ball around as Bilbao shown we need to improve on and off the ball. So I would suggest:
Martinez - We saw his defensive capabilities during the two games and he has a brilliant range of passing and could be phenomenal at a club like ours
Sissoko - He is like the french Yaya toure I suppose. He is powerful, brilliant engine and has a very good range of passing.
That would be the central midfield sorted imo.
Now onto wingers. Am I the only one who does not think Young is good enough for our starting 11? He would be an awesome squad player but he should be that at the most. I would sign one of Hazard, Muniain or Bale to replace him. In that order btw. All 3 can play through the middle so we have a replacement for Rooney when he needs rested.
Now onto the attack. I can see Owen, Macheda and Berbatov leaving. That would leave us with 3 proper out and out forwards. Now Fergie always goes on about having 4 out and out strikers. I believe the fourth should be one of Higuain or Benzema. I would love either tbh.
In nets we are sorted, I have always had faith in De Gea.
In defence I would replace Evra. What a disastrous season he is having. I would love to sign either Cissoko, Izaguirre or Alba to replace him but I am unsure on who is better. Would probably edge towards Alba as he looks like the better attacker. I would also sign Azpilicueta who ed 2? i think it is has said on numerous occasions that we have watched. He looks a decent young talent and would offer competition to Rafael who I rate highly and would allow Smalling and Jones to focus on becoming world class Cb's.
Outs would be Evra, Anderson (to injury prone and has had long enough to prove him self), Park (not good enough anymore), Owen, Berbatov, Scholes and Giggs retiring, maybe not both but we shouldn't really be relying on them.
Team
..............De Gea
Rafael/Azpilicueta Smalling Vidic Alba/Izaguirre/Cissoko
.........Martinez.....Sissoko
Valencia........Rooney.......Hazard
................Higuain/Benzema
Also would leave a very strong bench
Lindengaard, Azpilicueta/Rafael, Jones, Rio, Evans, Fabio, Fryers, Pogba, Cleverley, Carrick, Nani, Young, Welbeck, Hernandez.

However that is just what I would like to see done.

Analysing the game objectively today, it was a good performance, 5-0 away from home playing at leisurely pace. Valencia was immense considering it's his first game back from injury, his direct attacking play and accuracy of final delivery had been sorely missed. Hernandez's poor distribution and ball retention will be exposed against better opposition when he recieves less of the ball and it will be more critical to be more efficient with it. Wellbeck could be a class player if he could finish like Chico! If Nani can come back and hit some form, we will have good options for the run in.

Great result today but lets take a sensible look at the game. Against a very un confident Wolves team we sat back in the first half and didn't press once. (No lessons learnt from Thursday) The first Rooney passes went to Wolves players. If there was one big difference it was having Tony V back. Everytime he got the ball he ran forward and at the defence rather than doing what United have done all season and just pass the ball backwards. The game changed when Wolves went down to 10 men and Tony V just tortured them for a period of twenty minutes. i know at this point of the season the result is all that matters but i would love to see a United team that pushed up on weak teams and pressurised them rather than sit back. Moment of the game for me was the spud headed nipper bollocking Ferdinand for his sloppy pass. About time somebody put a rocket up his arse. By the time we play at the council house we will be 7 points clear. I AM KLOOT

As happy as I am with the victory and the scoreline, somebody at the club really needs to teach Hernandez how to pass the ball. Too many times our link up play is broken down because Hernandez is mis**tting his passes. I understand that he's a poacher and his two goals today were perfect poacher's goals. But he needs to add more to his game.

pretty happy with that overall

in my opinion united are in need of a top centre back and centre mid, we clearly need to strengthen the spine of the team, without vidic we have been poor in defense only for de gea's fine form we would have lost many games other than bilbao, as for the midfield the partnership of clevers and pogba is too young for now so we should look to a late 20's midfielder to add experience but move on at the right time for clevers and pogba to start, i think we have missed out massively on snejider would have suited rooney perfectly!

Excellent news that they revived Fabrice yesterday, I was stunned and haven't felt like that since I last watched a documentary on the Munich disaster. My two year old daughter could see it in my face that something was wrong. Still not out of the woods yet, but fingers crossed he will wake up. You have to applaud the medical staff, the referee for abandoning the game and the PL for making sure there are top doctors at every football match and of course the important equipment needed to help revive him. Seems like it's wrong to talk football, but this is what the site was created for and even though one or two Liverpool fans have upset one or two United fans about the timing, you must remember this is a banter site, even though the banter was grade one on a scale of one to ten. United were scouting Fabrice a couple of years ago when he was making strides in the U21's and playing well for Bolton, I think the resurgence of Pogba & Tunnicliffe convinced us to wait and see how they turned out.

Well on to today's game, I hope the team can push on and make it a four point gap, then the pressure will be on City to beat Chelsea on Wednesday. Young, Park & Giggs played a full game on Thursday so maybe Welbeck & Valencia will start on the flanks? I think we will see Hernandez & Rooney upfront, if Rooney has a knock then perhaps Berbatov & Hernandez. I think because Carrick and Ferdinand went off after an hour they will both start with Scholes partnering Carrick and Evans partnering Ferdinand. Would like to see Fabio at LB, Evra played a full game on Thursday and was truly disappointing. Jones at RB if he has returned from his bout of man flu. Lindegaard is very close to being ready, but no one will move the impressive DDG from between the sticks. What a difference a run of games makes, if Pogba would hurry up and sign he may get a run of games and he will only continue to improve. I see both Pogba and Cleverley getting on the field today, perhaps 20-30 minutes each with Carrick & Hernandez making way. I think Smalling will replace Ferdinand at some point too.
