Can someone please tell Fergie to resign and pass the team selection over to a tactical genius called Marky Mark. Fergie has not lost a game in Europe apart from the finals in how many years by playing possession football and not giving the ball away by using players like Carrick who do simple things well but that is not good enough for Marky he knows a lot better than Fergie and should really be in charge of team selection. He would re sign Tevez and Alan Smith. RAINFISHTROMBONE

Missed the game through work commitments, it seems a lot of people are not happy with the teams performance tonight but the main thing is we got the 3 points we so badly needed.... HERBIE

I think it's too easy to blame bad performances on individuals. There seems to be some lack of confidence in the team that is completely contrasting to our great start. I really don't know what the reason is but to blame Anderson or Carrick or anyone else is simply not right. I feel Carrick and Anderson both had a good game tonight. And Anderson is a player who was in our team tearing defenses apart at the start of the season and Carrick is a player who last year was first choice and tearing apart Shalke and Chelsea. I simply refuse to believe that one good midfield signing will 'complete our squad' and take us to win everything. And by no means is this me being negative, I'm saying we have a good squad going through a bad patch at the moment, but if we think back it's usely the very start of the season we are this poor before improving. Just get behind them rather than going on about january signings.

If we play like that against Sh*tty, Barca, Bayern, Madrid, Chelski or Liverpool we will be slaughtered. We will struggle against Basel and Benfica if we play like that. The team didn't create any really special moves and didn't really look like a break-through apart from Pens and Nani's post-rattle. Vidic didn't need to try a challenge like that and in my opinion, should already know better. No signings at Christmas unless we are injury-stricken and a hard 3-way battle between Chelski, Sh*tty and us for the league.

A win is a win no matter how it comes but what happened to that explosive start to the season the team doesn't look the same we haven't played good football since the arsenal game (Chelsea could of scored more and Liverpool game was poor) our European form is poor at best if it weren't for slipping defending against Basel we could of nearly qualified for next stage , what kind of message are we sending out about our champions league challenge when RM and Barca are brushing teams aside... Think fervid should stop so much rotating I know we have injuries but united haven't started with the same team twice in a row god knows who will start against city which I think we really can't lose at this early stage and be 5 points behind...

This game had Berbatov written all over it. Eleven Romanians behind the ball, defending with their lives. Perhaps he should have left in the summer? Silly boy.

It's nice to see UEFA are doing their bit and employing a "special" referee - some of his decisions tonight were awful. Hopefully Vidic can appeal his ban as it wasn't a red card. But anyways, a dodgy ref and diving Galati players can't be blamed for another poor performance. The team played like they'd just met each other. Evra's doing his absolute best to be dropped from the first team. Valencia was dire. Rooney looked disinterested. Nani was poor by his standards. Anderson! Could someone let him know that he's got a right foot as well as his left. When he's on the edge of the box looking for a pass, the opposition defenders already know where he's going to put the ball because he's only going to use one foot. He can become very predictable, very quickly.

Smalling was composed all night. Carrick had a solid game. Hernandez has definitely worked on his hold-up play. In January, a midfielder HAS to come in. When Cleverley doesn't play, things don't really happen in the middle of the pitch. In January we should also see Berbatov leave. It doesn't matter what your opinion is of the guy, there's no point in holding onto a fourth choice striker who doesn't play and earns upwards of 90k a week.

I just hope that A.S.H.W.I. and all the other idiots who slag Carrick off come on the site tonight and admit they know nothing as there was a man who stood up and was counted when it was needed. He gave a master class in how to play controlled European style football that would have had the Italians purring. Then when needed he stepped into the centre half position and put in a game saving last ditch tackle. too many of you sheep follow the crowd in who to hate and who to love but you were the same lot who were all shouting over Fergie when he was giving his end of season speech shouting sign him up about Tevez. Carrick was man of the match tonight and probably made twice the passes any other United player made. No wonder we keep going to European away games and getting results when we have players who understand possession football and not just kick and rush. RAINFISHTROMBONE

A win is a win.

It is early in the season and you dont win anything until April or May. However, looking at our team it is unlikely we will still be in it at that time. I have no doubt there will be a lot of bravado on here but finish second and we will struggle against Inter, Real, Barca or Bayern, get through that and it would bring Chelsea and City into it. We created so little that has to be a concern against others as well.

Anderson and Carrick as a central midfield axis lacked any control or creativity and Hernandez doesnt thrive with his back to goal. Our tempo was strangely slow given the need to win, we almost looked tired.

Again I havent seen anything tonight which we didnt know already including our central midfield not being good enough plus our striking options could be better.

How that can be a red card and their winger didn't even get a bookin for scissoring Nani is beyond me. Typical European ref!

Lucky is a term that’s cropping up far too often lately. But tonight we were lucky to scrape to a victory (via two penalties resulting from awful defending) against a team barely playing at about League 1 standard. Yes Vidic’s red was harsh and Costin was lucky to stay on the pitch after his hand ball denied a clear scoring opportunity. However, this was another second rate uninspired performance. The centre of midfield was solid enough but lacked a creative punch, the defence kept a clean sheet but the opposition were hardly a major threat, Nani was our only bright spot creatively, Hernandez’s movement was decent and Linders did nothing wrong. Rooney was a non-entity aside from role in the penalties and Valencia is having his worst ever run of form for us, and I think this was just about his worst game. As for Vidic he’s old enough to know that there was no need to lunge in on a player out by the touch line just inside your half. But the fact Vidic needed to be out there in the first place just shows how lazy Evra has been for the last year.

Some of you might be content with the well versed getting results while not playing well bulls**t, but make no mistake we have been on a stinking run of form since the game against Stoke. If we don’t up our game dramatically by the weekend, then we’re going to get brushed aside by City. And Ferguson needs to recognise that to have any shot against them we’ll need Nani, Young and Rooney on the pitch at the same time, anymore of this Park against the big teams nonsense and we might as well hand them the points.

United are really struggling in the middle of the park at the moment. Something just doesnt click and it has been a concern for a while, and its a view reinforced by a so far poor performance against galati.

The Keane and Scholes duo has never even been close to being emulated, and despite promise from cleverly, Morrison etc, the current crop of central players just don't cut it.

Signing of some form needed in january in my opinion. Here's to hoping.

Fergie had gone nuts when he was selecting the side against Liverpool. It was too defesive. But it's past & so can't be changed. For future we sud not think bout other clubs player selection. If we r to win the PL then we need to play our best 11 in crunch games. Now coming to transfer. I think we sud sell/release Berbatov, Kuzsack, Carrick, Gibson & Evra. I won't mind to see Evans, Owen, Park & Fletcher go. Berbs sud be replaced by either Oscar Cardozo or Luuk de Long or Cavani. No replacement for Kuzsack as its already there in Lindegaard who is very good. Carrick & Gibson sud be replaced by Yann M'vila & Thiago Alcantara. If one of them denies there is Sissokho too. Baines sud replace Evra. Also, if Evans leaves (and i hope he does) then he sud be replaced by Howedes but he mayn't come so ed plz suggest a name. Owen's replacement (if he leaves) from berb's replacement. Park's replacement is Ravel Morrison. Fletcher's replacement is Pogba. Wat do u guys think. What do u think ed. Also wat r the chances of these happening in near future. (Also i do think all of these mayn't happen.). Also I think that we need to replace Schloes. I wud want one of Mario Goetze, Christian Eriksen or Riccardo Montilivo. Who wud u guys & ed want.

Does anyone know when Cleverley will be back? Does anyone expect him to be available for the Citeh game this weekend? physioroom.com has him returning on the 23rd October, but last week it said he was due to return on 15th October so I don't know if that's reliable info or not.

#ags {Ed001's Note - physioroom.com use the official club information to provide the dates, so it should be reliable but it is not 100%.}

In response to a rumour by jred regarding Thomas Mueller, all I can say is, WHAT A PLAYER!
He can play midfield, wing or forward. He would be sensational for us.
I would play him instead of Ando and either sell Ando or keep him as back-up. Also, when Rooney is subbed/injured/rested he would slot into his position perfectly.
They could also play side by side as the 2 strikers, their movement and skill would drive defenders mad.
I cannot speak highly enough of this player, he has a coolness and calmness thats unbelievable, a perfect player to have in a tense/close match.
He is also perfect for the quick passing game we play when Cleverly is on the pitch.
If I was SAF and there was the smallest chance that Bayern would sell, I would do everything in my power to get him.

If we want to keep up with youth then I think we could sign Azpilicueta (Wing Back), Shea(Midfield or Upfront), Kovavec(Creative Midfielder) and Ocampos (Winger like Ronaldo - he looks great).
