Come on Wigan. Great win. It was a red card and if it was the other way, then the messiah will be wanting the player sent off. Incredible win.
And City fans showing their lack of class by destroying the stadium and throwing insults and punches at the Wigan stewards.

It's an absolute disgrace, Aguero swung for a fan too. I'd love to see the referees report from this one. I'm sure it's far from the image cities owners want to convey. Fair play to Wigan though, great defensive performance and a great striker in Will Grigg.

Disgusting scenes from Guardiola, his players and their fans. I guess money cannot buy you class.

It was absolutely disgusting how some of them reacted to the incident today and rightly so if that was United or Mourinho it would be a big story tomoorrow .

Just to let you if that was how mourinho behaves or our players i wouldve been just as annoyed.

Can't stand guardiola can't stand city. The man is nothing but a hypocrite.

I'm hoping there are consequences to some pretty strong scenes but I doubt it.

I take 2 things from tonight, the are out of a comp and realise they aren't unbeatable. Oh and they are not the same team without kdb.

I loved it when fergy dished out the verbal .
Cantona dropping that idiot was a highlight of the 90s for me .
Although to be fair 90s are a blur.

19 Feb 2018 23:53:55
It was a red all day long, reckless and over the ball. We've said lately that it's ironic that city want protection and then behave like they did. Guardiola didn't like the Wigan managers reaction because he knew that it was exactly how guardiola would react if it were the other way round. I also thought the diving and screaming of Danilo and Bernardo Silva in particular was shameful.
None of it will get mentioned though. Then comments at the end of the game saying they've knocked out one of the best teams we've seen ever? Wtf is that about? They could have a mighty fall.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Feb 2018 00:07:29
Well said Deano they 100 percent aren't the same team with kdb even to an extent Sterling has played a big part for them nicking important goals at crucial times.

I agree supa city have been nothing short of magnificent this season that I concede, yet they still haven't won a trophy yet so the utter tripe about them being one of the best ever is ridiculous.

Oh and no treble this season bad luck lads 😂.

Mention of Cantona is relevant here. Aguero has struck a fan. I wonder what will happen to him. I would predict a 3 game ban and nothing else.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Feb 2018 04:26:40
Will be very interesting to see if the press starts to turn the tide of love to hate against city after that behaviour. Can do very strange and destructive things to a manager and team. Mourinho doesn't get the credit he deserves for handling it as well as he does even if it does get to him sometimes.

Imagine if the wheels properly came off!

20 Feb 2018 05:36:58
Too bad money can buy City any class. Disgrace for Aguero for hitting Wigan fans for celebrating Wigan's victory at Wigans OWN home ground.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Feb 2018 06:43:13
And what irked me is Shearer saying it's only a yellow. If the Wigan player hadn't jumped off, we could be looking at a broken leg.
Then Shearer compounded his utter tripe of a commentary by actually trying to protect Aguerro at the end.
Fans should not be on the pitch, but there again, professional footballers should not be throwing punches or kicks at fans. If you do, you should get a cantona like ban. But he won't.
Get over yourself Shearer. You missed out on joining God's own team and we kept Solskjaer. We don't want Shearer he's effing dearer.
And lastly, Mourinho isn't my favourite manager, but if he acted like the Messiah did, he'll be looking at a full FA hearing and a 5 game ban. It'll be interesting to see what happens. Nothing in all likelihood.
Bottom line, City got beat and showed their lack of class by their behaviour. Small club small mentality.

The guy was in Aguero's face. It's not like he went looking for a fight. I've no issue with what he did. I understand fans coming onto the pitch after a result like that, but I'm sure it can be intimidating in certain instances for the opposition players, when they start circling them, and acting like cockwombles.

Very good chance of winning the FA Cup now, would be even easier if Dele Alli 🏊‍♂️ didn't dive to get a draw away to Rochdale, Fa cup win, finish 2nd, CL semis at least, who'd be happy with that?

Lol-i'm not offended GDS2-i was only trying to make light of the info in my reply, the shoot the messenger bit was in jest, i get that the rumours might cheese some off, but that's what was doing the rounds when i posted, but i still think mourinho isn't overly happy with the way pogba is managing games, and for mourinho, there is no "I" in team, so maybe he's just trying to persuade pogba to be more team minded, but i'm happy to say i've been a doughnut and got it wrong big time if pogba goes on and helps to spank peps' pampered girls' blouses, heck i'd shake a scousers hand in friendship!

Ed002 has confirmed that as well as Madrid, City have a serious interest in Dybala. I also think United should move for him and he would be perfect in behind the striker. City would be immense with Dybala in their side if they manage to get him.

Putting two and two together to make five, and looking at the reviews of the players in each age category, I think that perhaps the Ynder 23s are a legacy of the much-derided youth structures of a few years ago; now there’s been a turnaround in investment, facilities, overseas recruitment and coaching focus, the younger teams are looking more promising - so should start feeding through to the senior teams in a few years.

We’re still behind City in these contexts but at least we’ve turned it around and are once more catching up.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Feb 2018 12:14:24
Its a lot to do with the changes of the team. A lot of u18 players playing or getting involved in senior trams such as u21 and u23.

Look at examples of mctominay, rashford, gomes . If they played consistently for u23s then they will be in a much higher position in the table.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Feb 2018 23:32:23
Singh there is a lot right in what you say. We have suffered due to the attention that has had to be focused on the first team. Managers post Fergie have even to this day had to focus on trying to get the club back to the elite level it was at. There hasn't been a consistent policy to integrate the youth and lay down a playing style which goes from the youngest players right through to the first team. This is slowly being addressed now. Players like Jesse and Marcus have been fast tracked into the first team leaving the U23 s and others light on quality. There is one additional important factor. City have developed a wonderful strategy over the past five or six years to attract the best young players from worldwide. They have now put themselves in pole position in Manchester for prospective talent. Chelsea in the South have done likewise but Chelsea have no track record for promoting their youth and we can see how so many of their youth academy ultimately move to other clubs. Jose has to buy established stars at the moment but I do think once we are really competitive he will focus more on the u23s and below.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2018 00:13:19
Totally agree with that Hendon red but i am yet to be convinced by City's policy of bringing youth through.

They recently let go a very promising player in Sancho who i believe has the same amount of talent as Gomes for us but we managed to convince Gomes to stay and follow examples of Rashford and co.

Interesting piece on Hawkeye re the VAR. Just shows the inefficiency of people using the system. Even though if you have a world class system and operated by idiots, the results will still be idiotic. What a bloody joke.
They took a corner with the ball not even on the right spot but nobody picked up. If that resulted in a goal against ManUtd would that have been disallowed. Not enough cameras to monitor and worse, inefficient officials monitoring the unmonitored system at the wrong time. Bloody joke 🤣🤣🤣.

19 Feb 2018 13:26:54
Just a question to the eds or the posters, it's regarding the VAR. I'm slightly confused regarding its working.

During the Huddersfield vs United match, there was a corner that was taken by the home side and the ball hit Smalling's hand.

Now, question 1

The officials reviewed the incident, but I don't think the ref or even the assistant ref asked for a review. So, this means that the VAR thing was working independently i. e. it will not work the way a third umpire works in cricket, is that correct?

Second, and this is more of a thought than a question, shouldn't the VAR only be consulted in case the officials have a problem? and because they can't refer to replays, they consult the VAR.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is supposed to be independent of the officials at the game and look for 'clear and obvious errors' by the officials. It is not meant to be a referral system, the VAR is meant to be used to flag up wrong calls and bring the ref's attention to them.}

Mata was offside, the system worked, it is more about how we are sold the decision and how they show it on TV or to the fans in attendance that is the issue.
