I think it was 'Jono' who mentioned at the end of his post Tony V for #7?

I totally agree mate, with us he has developed into a special player. Easy the best old fashioned winger out there. His crossing is phenomenal as we saw in the 2009/10 season in which he created many for Rooney. His ability to beat the defender with minimal trickery and skill is what i find most baffling. As soon as he gets a yard of space he has his cross picked out. I was suprised as the Wolves game was his first back from a minor injury, i expected him to have a hit and miss game. He has been outstanding for us 90% of the time, and although not like Cristiano Ronaldo, he should be given the #7 shirt. There is no doubting his loyalty, as he sacked his agent as, this is what i was told, "His agent was talking about life away from Old Trafford, and Valencia absolutely does not want to leave" which i think is true. Who cares if he isnt a ronaldo type player, Ronaldo wasnt like Beckham. Beckham wasnt like Cantona. The number 7 should go to a fan favourite who always gives his best every game for the team, to a player who the team looks weakened with loss of. Valencia ticks all those boxes. Valencia is definately one of my favourite players, besides perhaps Chicharito and Smalling.

But yes, i agree Jono, Tony V for #7!

blair mayne i seem to remember back in 1993 a boring functional team led by a dour scots manager won the cup double and all their fans thought it was the start of the big time. Look what happened to them. Besides you haven't won it yet you have to beat spurs or chelsea

Just a quick question.

I'm going the Fulham game with a United supporting mate (I'm LFC), would it be ok if i was to wear a t-shirt only, meaning my LFC tattoo will be abit on show, or shall i just keep my arms covered to be safe.

Tickets are in the Stretford end btw

My realistic signings this summer would be martinez,sigurdsson,hazard and daimao and possably kovacic they would all add a lot to our squad.
I'd like to see park,berbatov,macheda,owen and possably anderson all leave,that would free up a lot of wages.
I'd be a happy chappy then :)

Hello my loyal followers!

I know it's been a while, since my last piece of football knowledge, graced this page. I've been busy, very busy. But I just popped in to congratulate you, on getting to the top of the PL with your s**ttiest team/squad in 20 years.

Can you believe it? A team/squad with Anderson, Evra, Evans, Berbanob etc, etc, could win the PL (again)?

How sh!t is the PL?

Now your turn. Who Will be the 1st to come forward and say 'LFC are not as bad as I thought'. Come on now ladies, even the most biased of you Mancs (Disney, GDS) have to admit. 2 trips to Wembley in 2 months, is something to be proud of.

Cheers

I dont want to sound negative but people here are extremely fickle. Everyday players go from useless to world-class and vice vesa.
Personally, i try to base my opinions on players, united and football in general on certain principles that i believe in. This prevents me from being fickle and changing my mind after every game. Here are my opinions about our various players and these opinions rarely change unless something exceptional happens like in evans case.
1. Rooney. A real top player both in the hole and uptop. However, i have always maintaind that i prefer rooney playin uptop with some1 like sniejder in the hole.

2. Hernandez. He is not a great finisher as people always put it. He is only able to from within the 6yard box. His shot is very weak(tame) and generally lacks direction, so whenever he takes a first touch, even in the 18yard box, you just know he wont score. I have always maintaind that chicha is a player thats effective comin off the bench in the last 15min.

3. Valencia. He is a very good winger but i would not say he is world-class. He has had only 2 good months out of an entire season and suddenly he is the best in world. I would say ronaldo, ribery, rouben, bale, nani, di maria, david silva and hazard are better wingers. But valencia is really adding more to game. Hope he stays injury free for the rest of the season.

4. Nani. He is one of our match winners regardless of how frustrating he can be at times. I know we have alot of nani haters here but i would only be happy to sell nani if he is replaced with some1 from the list above.
TO BE CONTINUED.....

Millz {Ed004's Note - Agreed with everyone but Valencia. Every time he plays he contributes massively to the team for the past few seasons. The season Rooney hit 34 goals more than half would have been supplied by Antonio, he is better than Bale, Hazard and Di Maria at least but thats a different argument.}

What a difference a month or 2 makes eh?

It was about then me and a select band of brothers actually had to try and convince a few on here about the quality we were missing when Toni was out injured. Do we need to say anything now? All his doubters have gone very very quiet recently! I wonder why?

Oh yeah, he has played a few games and got his mojo back. His direct running and consistant crossing plays pefectly into our system and offers us so much more than the inconsistancy Nani brings imo. Oh how I would love a consistant LW to add the balance like we had with the front 3 of Ronnie, Rooney and Tevez.

On Pogba.

Where have all his haters/doubters gone?

Was he not a money grabbing so and so that could f**k off as he has not prooved good enough as SAF must know he is not ready?

Seems like SAF has seen the light and decided all of a sudden he IS ready and able to play in the first team. Maybe if he had decided this alot earlier this season we would not be in this contract sittu and he would be signed up.

So now he is playing and showing glimpses of the player me and the fellow rezzy watchers have known he can be all the witch hunters have been silenced?

All I can say is well done to both Toni V and Pogba for prooving me (and a select few) right and all the so many doubters wrong.

Toni V for No7!

If macheda got a bit of luck say once he came back from his loan spell and got a couple of goals in a couple of substitute appearances it would (I think) change the current striker situation alot.
I think with a bit of luck he could still do a job for us for years to come.
With that I think (certainly if fletcher doesn't return) we should get two cm in. Aim for what we want i.e. 1 of Martinez, M'villa, sissoko, Garcia etc and 1 of Modric, Lucas (the younger one!), Gotze, Kagawa, hazard etc.
Add a good young left back and that's a team we wouldn't really need to add much to for a few years. That's why they should spend the money now. I'd sell, ferdinand, park, Evra and any reserves who need to go.
My ideal purchases this summer would be 1. Martinez, 2.modric or Kagawa and a left back (bale if I'm being greedy).
We will find out this summer if we have the funds there.

Supasub {Ed004's Note - I would love Bale at left back but couldn't see Fergie spending 30 + million on a left back. And who was it yesterday doubting my opinion on Bale being a left back. I wasn't around so couldn't comment lol}

I think our main targets are Gareth Bale and Jack Rodwell, i say that because we are increasingly looking to go British more and more of the time. Both have been on our radar for a long time and apparently we bidded for Bale two summers ago. Rodwell has also been on the radar for a while, reportadly meant to have had talks with Fergie a number of times over dinner. Also defensively I think that a left back is on the cards and if money permits a right back also. If we go cheap it could be Cissokho and Clyne, but it could well be Alba and Azpilicueta.

Before you cast this aside guys, just ask yourself the question: Whats more realistic...Bale and Rodwell or Hazard and Martinez?

All the rumours point to Hazard going to Spurs, Remy's comments, his dad's comments and Harry's. They might be preparing for times without Bale. And i think Everton will once again need to cash in and i think they'd rather keep Barkley, Baines and others and led Rodwell go.

A midfield of Cleverly, Rodwell, Anderson, Carrick, Pogba, Scholes and maybe Kovacic looks good to me. Add to that Nani, Bale, Valencia, Park and Young. (Young might be used as a make weight in the Bale deal perhaps - he can't of overly impressed Fergie and he is playing at his best.

i really do feel that a 3 man forward line helps united if not anything else, so we could improove on that? no, unless berbatov leaves, id love a flexible finisher , someone like van nistelrooy used to be, or possibly promoting will keane if we'r short on money
the are that needs improvement is obviously the midfield, and a passer and a play breaker would be key, pogba, cleverly would be in for the passer/more attacking position whereas one defensive play maker is needed, or someone who can sit deep and dictate play, Nuri Sahin? Sandro? to be realistic
lb needs an immediate improvement Alhy cisokko would be nice and finally a rb would be luxury, debuchy has been said a few times.
a marquee player wouldnt do any harm, Hazard/gaitan would be absolutely cracking additions to the wing and could be the creative sparks we need.
so take it like this
De gea
rafael smalling vida alhy
valencia nuri sahin cleverly/pogba hazard/gaitan
rooney
hernandez/someone new?
would be a decent enough lineup, unbeatable on thier day and the united mentaity to grind out results even in the toughest times

It's amazing the difference Valencia makes to our team when he's fit.
He can actually beat a man and cross the ball and United seem to break quicker when he plays. This is excatly what a winger should do, no fancy step overs, he gets a yard and whips the ball into the box.
I also love this guy because of his work rate, he's not only brilliant going forward but he tracks back and helps out defensively.
With Valencia back i am qietly confident that United will take the premiership...lets hope that quote doesn't come back to bite me on the ar*e!
Absolute quality player, Nani and Young take note!

Simmo {Ed004's Note - So do you think playing Bale on the left wing would help as well. They are nearly identical players imo.}

This probably wont be too popular among other utd fans, but i think the ideal replacement for the increasingly average looking evra is right under our noses in Leighton Baines.

I know he comes across as a fairly boring player, but he's got a quality delivery, he might not be quite as good going forward as evra but every time i see him he puts in a good shift defensively.

I genuinely can't remember him ever making a mistake, only just turned 27, wont break the bank and alot less risky than someone like alba.

May not be a superstar signing everyone wants, but it make sense.

Gpot7 {Ed004's Note - I don't rate him as high as others do on this site but whenever he plays a fast winger like Valencia he is destroyed}

A move for guillermo Ochoa back on the cards? He has been in excellent form with ajaccio and would provide experience and competion for De Gea and Linds.
Also hopefully the rumours of signing Ganso are possibly true, fits ferguson's youthfull policy and has a decent sell on value.

United have won 25 Premier League points from a possible 27 since Paul Scholes came out of retirement (he has played in all 9)

Turning point.. we would all have to agree, but he can not go on for ever....

we need to add something in there in the summer aswell as those coming through from the youth....

come on fergie makes us all happy.....

a few more tickets are going on sale for mondays game against fulham. a mate of mine is a fulham fan and they have moved his seat as they have sold no where near their allocation!!
Good result yesterday. not to worried about the goal difference at the moment. we should score alot more with the teams that we still have to play, especially with toni v back in the team.
getting a bit bored with all the liverpool fans coming on here mouthing off. Ed, im not having a go (really) but some eds wont put our comments up on their page beacuse they are not relevant etc.... but they can come on here and say stupid stuff about OUR team being in decline. It might be a banter site but surely it goes both ways?

Great performance yesterday, i know it was only a ten man wolves, but it has been a very trickey fixture in recent years. Would of liked more goals, but if we keep clean sheets, then the goal; difference will improve by itself.
Rooney, immense again, jonny evans, quality and toni. V, brilliant, he will be crucial for the next six games, due to his directness. with his work ethic and direct play it will be much more difficult for lower league teams to play against than nani's unpredicatability.
Next season we need hazard to improve in europe. in fact i only think we need him and lb. the formation we play now is what is needed for the next few years. With:
___Pogba___Cleverly/Petrucci
Toni.V____Rooney____Hazard
_______Welbeck/Chica______

I know were crying out for a midfielder, but i honestly believe if pogba stays, he could be the answer. Petrucci is also impressive, only his injury pass puts you off, but no doubt could be a very talented player.
Evra is finished and needs replacing in the summer, but apart from that, i know we have struggled this season and in the past couple of seasons, but when you look at the bigger picture, injurys have destroyed our opportunities in the cup comps.
if we can promote the youth who have learnt and developed the football we want to introduce, that will be much more effective than buying and quickly intergrating.
we do need that marque signing like a Hazard or Ozil, but if a team grows with one another the more desire they will have to perform, by not letting their mates down. look at the treble winning side, sure we had big money foreign imports like stam, but the nucalus was home based, youth products.
that is why i think we need baines, he is reliable and if he offers that steadiness can be consistantly in the side. the best defence is the one that plays together on a regular basis. look at g.Neville and Dennis Irwin, werent technically brilliant, but both grew with the defenders they played with. they also had there own personal skills. i.e crossing.
im being a sheep here by saying hazard but we need a more attacking player then defensive, as pogba could be a world beater.

aaallj5 {Ed004's Note - A minimum of one midfielder is required imo. Pogba and Cleverley should be made to work for their position and not garunteed it just because they look like they could become world class. It is only potential at the moment and what happens if one or both of them don't make it for whatever reasons, injury, a lack of confidence etc. Then who do we have to step in that could even get a look in at the Barcelona midfield.}

It wouldn't surprise me that Fergie was playing games again after his recent trip to France.

He was making everyone believe he was there to watch Hazard when maybe his original target was Debuchy. Then reportly saying at the end he didn't want sh*tty to find out he was the best in the world and of course next match whose there watching him! So funny they need to copy Fergie and he got them eating out of his hand now

If seen quite a few posts off some scouse idiots recently, and just wondered when the atmosphere inside a stadium determined whether or not you're a big club? Correct me if i'm wrong but have all scousers accepted they're now an average side and are just clutching at straws to make themselves feel like a big club still?
