I think most people feel our midfield could do with a creative and aggresive influence. However, I feel more comfortable when Carrick is in there. At least he has good anticipation of danger, and can pass the ball. Roll on when Pogba and Morrison are ready (and please don't rush it, SAF will know when), as we have 2 potentially world, and I mean very top world class players coming through!

For todays match i dont think that we were dominated . everybody's exagerating. Plus carrick had a decent game . He is not half as bad as some of you guys think.
On another subject i think that this attitude towards anderson is unjustified. The guy is not the holding mid saf is trying to use him as . he is a gotze/iniesta/sneijder/ronaldinho type ATTACKING midfielder. I still think he is class but beeing misused. Nobody would blame chicha for beeing a bad midfielder or vidic for beeing an aweful striker. well i know what you're goana say : he has been here for 5 years he should have adapted he has gained weight..... yeah sure he could have adapted but it's not a guarantee and few players have that sort of adaptability. He has gained weight bcz he has had a bad time with injuried and his frustration might be growing. its not so easy for the guy give it a rest

De Gea impressed me a lot today! Didn't have to make too many saves, but I thought he dealt with crosses much better today! He's learnt to take the ball when it is higher in the air, and seems to know whether to catch it or punch! With his aerial improvements as well as being a great shot-stopper, I think he has the makings of a great 'keeper!

What a game!! God bless us cause without it we're simple done this season!
Apart of Jones and De Gea, the rest of the team looked like teenagers playing! pls don't come up with, The opponent had a good game this is why we underperformed we are UNITED for God's sake!
If Pogba and Morrison are worst than our Midfielder s don't put them up or it will get worst, if they're best just put them, we can't play any worse than that!

God bless us all

If today showed anything it is that we need someone who is going to dictate the tempo of our game. Cleverley did a decent job at the start of the season by playing a quick pass and move game but since he has been injured the team have slipped back into first gear. There isnt really a plan b. We need a CM who will act as a catalyst for our style of play, someone the other players can look to.

All you Carrick haters might like to come on here and explain the amount of saving tackles he put in tonight and the way he protected the defence. What happened between Rooney and Nani? Rooney just would not pass to him even when he was in the open. it was not one of his best games but it was as though he was invisible to Rooney. We are now doing what we have done for many seasons in the past, just hang on to the coat tails of the leading club then step up a gear after christmas. No goals conceded since the derby which was Fergie's main concern so job done. Now its time to build as an attacking force. RAINFISHTROMBONE

What a pity we have never seen Seedorf in the Prem. Even if it wasn't for us I would of loved to have seen him 4 years ago. The guy is still absolutely brilliant now at 33/34. Anyone who has ESPN pop it back on in 15 mins and catch him second half.

Truely top class.

I could see all the players leaving altho id love to see evans leave most hes awful! If you get at him he panics. Cahill would be a good free. I could see a double swoop for rodwell and barkley. Maybe 15mill plus gibson diouf n macheda on loan. Personally anyone they wud take. I would love to also see anderson leave as his performances are questionable! A midfield of rodwell barkley cleverley pogba n fletch wud be nice! Watching todays game even swansea at times walked through carrick and giggs! Park is better centrally now to!

Good evening Guys
As a die hard United fan I am pleased to have got the 3 points tonight but I'm also disappointed because a team like us should be dictating games like tonight not the otherway around.
Even the goal was as a result of Swansea making a mistake. It seems gone are the days when we dominate matches with fluid attacking football and we have to get used to grinding out results against weaker teams.
I know some will say that it was a professional performance but a club like ours is brought up on entertainment and our recent performances have been far from entertaining.
So no doubt with the next window fast approaching we will have the usual names put forward to join the club but the reality is Fergie does not do any major business in January apart from the odd youngster so we will have to do with what we've got until next summer and then I hope we will invest in major midfield talent.

That central midfield is beyond an absolute joke. I'd easily say we've about the tenth best midfield centre pairing in the league. I know people will say 3 points is 3 points but honestly, our whole season was put on the hands of a kid who never played a competitive game for us before the season started and now hes out until Christmas and we are poison.

Carrick......If I got the chance I'd sell him

Giggs...... Legend of a man and it's unfair we have to rely on him to be our creative spark

Fletcher.....Squad player at best, the last few years he's been average

Anderson.....He's had enough chances. Overweight. Couldn't pass a ball to save his life. Get rid of him

Gibson.....

Cleverley...Great potential but too much expected of him and its not fair on the lad

Ask yourself an honest question. Would any of those players get into the City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs starting central midfield? Ill even upset everyone and say even Liverpool and Newcastle have better central midfield options.

When a promoted team like Swansea can pass and move the ball better then the Premier League champions, ya know something is wrong.

I know grinding out results is a vital part of winning a campaign but without Cleverley or someone fresh in the line-up I cant see us playing much better.

Buy someone or take the plunge and play Pogba because its getting beyond a joke.

1-0. I wish I'd put a bet on now. I've not seen Nani play that poorly in a loooooong time. I think it showed that, when his teammates were playing friendlies midweek, he was playing competitive football. Maybe it's time to give him a rest? Young and Valencia are both fit and ready.

Vidic played against Everton. Cleansheet. Played against Sunderland. Cleansheet. Played against Swansea. Cleansheet. It isn't a coincidence, the defence play with so much more confidence when he's there. And when Evans isn't there!

Carrick had a solid game. He closed down well and made some crucial interceptions - two things that a particularly chunky Brazilian hasn't done in recent months. Hopefully we'll see a Carrick/Cleverley partnership in the near future. They'd work well together.

Another dire and tactically inept performance against the Swans. Can we really get anywhere with a midfield of Carrick, the ageing Giggs and Fletcher?
Midfield signings in January are essential!
Mike {Ed004's Note - Fletcher was good when he came on tbf}

We haven't done a lot wrong tonight, just think that the chances we have made have been wasted by greedyness. Saw plenty of times players in positions to play somebody in, but tried to shoot. Nani has done this numerous times and Rooney has had a few.

Cracking shot from Jones also! ;)

So i've watched 75 minutes of this game and i can safely say that our midfield is awful. carrick and giggs in the centre is so slow. how on earth can we expect to compete in the midfield in europe when we can't even keep the ball against swansea? We need at least one new mid field player, if anything else to give the team a boost!

Rooney is a striker, his confidence is directly proportional to the number of goals he scores.......we are wasting the best attacking player that we have got.

We have seen Arsenal,Chelsea struggle with getting results in the past but i dont remember them struggling with creating chances......and we are struggling in creating enough chances.

Not one in the 'know' but I'm watching the Swansea v united match and it's so clear our midfield needs a shake up. It's so cumbersome and slow we are passing the ball backwards on far too many occasions. We are having real problems finding our front men quickly and this is stopping our forwards having opportunities. Would like to see some youngsters be given the opportunity especially Morrisson think he has that arrogance and fearlessness that will make him a great player...just as long as he controls his off field antics. Ed's what do u reckon will happen youngsters coming through or couple new players comin in?

PJ Red {Ed007's Note - I only know about the youngsters through you guys, sorry. I agree that something needs to be done though, whether that will promoting youth players or buying in I don't know.}

If Arsenal finish outside of the top 4, does anyone think we could tempt Robin Van Persie from Arsenal? Would be a great signing IMO, good finisher and good link-up player.

They're still squeaking on LFC site - when Hernandez used the term Negrito he was being complimentary about a team mate - since I'm guessing Suarez and Evrs aren't exactly mates then it was meant as a derogatory/offensive remark in the context in which he used it - if someone takes the time to explain this to the intellectually challenged KK in words of one syllable then even he might understand that his golden hen may just have shat the nest

I've been considering options for us and wondered if something like this could work between now and the start of next season. All figures are only approximations and I'm unsure on wages and transfer fees so maybe one of the eds or Sydney could help me out.

Goalkeepers

Out- Kuszczak £2m 30k

Defenders

Out- Ferdinand £5m 100k
Out - Evra £10m 100k
Out - Evans £5m 30k

In - Alba free 50k
In- Cahill free 50k

Midfielders

Out - Gibson £5m 20k
Out - Carrick £8m 70k
Out - Giggs - retire 80k

In - Modric £30m 120k
In - Rodwell £20m 40k

Strikers

Out - Berbatov £15m 90k
Out - Diouf £5m 10k
Out - Macheda £5m 10k
Out - Owen free 30k

In - Van Persie £15m 130k

Obviously this all depends on several things happening/not happening between now and next summer such as Cahill and van persie not signing a new contract. These transfers don't seem crazy as all are available including van Persie by next summer if he refuses to sign a new deal and all except alba have premier league experience. Anyway let me know what you all think.

From todays papers. FERNANDO HIERRO insists Phil Jones can be one of the best players on the planet. Hierro, said: "I know Jones very well. He played for England against Spain last summer in the Under-21 European Championship and was very impressive. I was there and said that England had a serious talent. If he keeps evolving the way he is he will be world class"
Capello also likened him to Baresi.

Now I think Jones has the capacity to become one of Uniteds great players. I didnt see Duncan Edwards but for Jones to be compared to him is a great honour.

I also find it fascinating that the Liverpool idiots who come on here being negative about Jones , no doubt mainly because he didnt sign for them, have gone very quiet.

dont you guys think its abit naive to think that havier hernandez will spend the rest of his career at united?
He would like to win the spanish la liga some day, that was his dream growing up, he wont simply forget about it(ronaldo never did) how is he going to do that at united?
Having lived in mexico and south america a few years back, i can tell you that most kids grow up with dreams of winning la liga and lifting the champions league with madrid or barca.
If you read(between the lines) the statement issued by chicha's agent, it suggests chicha will consider a move but its too early. 2 or 3years from now will that stil be the case? Especially when sir alex retires.
Personally, i think he will wind up at barca not madrid.
What you guys think?
