Ed please post on the banter site thanks:-
I've just watched the sneijder interview after reading the discussion below and I noticed that when he was quoting which leagues he has played in he says holland, Spain then Italy and then he says and now and seems to backtrack slightly and repeats and now I'm still here, just thought I'd add this as a bit of devilment ha, hope he comes great player.

After one of the most humiliating pre-seasons in LFC's history Dalgleish has now turned to God for help ( not Eric ). I should know as whilst i was sat there in church the priest said to Dogleash " come forth my friend " to which Kenny replied " fourth ? ... i'll be happy if we finished tenth with this team ".

Only two player I'd hope we'd sign this season are Moutinho and Modric. Both fantastic on ball, low centre of gravity making them hard to shake off, plays holding with so much creativity freeing anyone partnering them in mid( Ando, Fletcher26, Carrick30) which we clearly missed if we are to be Champion of Europe and premier league. Moutinho will b cheaper than Modric and younger, with sweet and powerful right foot and already has played with Ando and Nani where as Modric with premier league experience. Otherwise lets hope we have someone like Wilshere in our youth in likes of Pogba, Morrison, Tunnclife(spelling) or likes Gibson, Cleverly) needs to level up their game. We still have time till summer window closes. Any views?

First off:

I DO NOT think that we will sign Joey Barton.

I expect him to go to Stoke, Bolton, Fulham one of those sort of sides.

Also we all know that he's a thug of the pitch.

However i can see the attraction of signing him.

On a bosman so no fee just wages which would still allow us to go and spend on Sneijder for example.

Would add that bit of steel to the midfield we were lacking last season.

Would enable the likes of Carrick, Anderson, Cleverley and Sneijder to play more forward.

Knows the area so no issues of settling.

Fergie loves a challenge with a problem player.

However as stated his reputation goes against him and he wouldn't be the most popular signing ever.

Personally i would have him if we also signed someone like Sneijder.

But as i already said i doubt if we will go for him.

I agree with Red Knight, Nani should be in that price bracket.

Tribal football have said that Juve are putting together a 12mill bid for nani. ha ha

Now, Many have stated we need an Owen type player for our midfield, an older lad who doesn't mind sitting out, preferably quite cheap.

Joey Barton was made available on a free transfer today...wouldn't be a bad buy if we were looking to get him and use him for cover for Fletcher. Just an idea, his wages are next to nothing, free transfer, quite good defensively. short term solution....Possible?

I'm a little lost right now...

On one hand we could have (IMO) the 4th best midfielder on the planet behind Xavi, Iniesta and schweinsteiger in Sneijder. Which would be absolutely amazing, regardless of the figures (which I really don't care about, If the club believe they can afford him then who am i to question that).

But then on the otherhand we could stick with Anderson and Cleverley who IMO look the part, Albeit not world class they're still very, very good.

If we don't got for Sneijder to me, personally it would mean one of few things:

1) He isn't our main target and therefore didn't want to end up with second best. I think Nasri is the main target, Isn't it funny how when he comes out and says he'll run down his contract and leave for free we pull out of the Sneijder talks....

2) We're contempt and happy with what we've got, and regardless of what some may say we've got two very good midfielders in Carrick and Fletcher, Then we've got two talented lads in Anderson and Cleverley, not too mention squad players who can and will play such as Gibson and Giggs.

In my own view, I hope we sign somebody but I don't want to sign somebody who automatically gains a spot on the team sheet, I want somebody who will fight for his place with Ando and Cleverley, somebody who will miss out on some games and play in others. In other words whoever we sign, I really hope they don't hamper the development of our younger lads.

Onto another topic, seeing as Javier is out for upto a month (and let's assume that it is a month) he misses 4 games, so somebody has to replace him, right?

The most sensible answer would be Berbatov, but i have a sneaky feeling it'll be Owen, After all they're very similar players and we won't have to adapt our style of play for them (If Welbeck started then we're looking at a more speedy gonzalez goal than a typical goal poacher, We've all seen what happens with Berbatov and I don't think Diouf or Macheda will start).

What would everybody's reaction be to Nani playing the front man? he's obviously comfortable infront of goal and he'll have the best assist partner you can get in Rooney (and Vice Versa), Only until Javier returns? that way we'll get to see how Nani copes as a forward (a la Ronaldo) while still providing the likes of Valencia and Young with good game time....As i said it would only be until Hernandez returns.

The Guardian reports that "Manchester United have pledged to give Ravel Morrison their full support to help get his life in order and prevent one of the more prodigiously talented young players to emerge through the club's ranks for many years becoming a story of wasted talent."

This lad may be a problem, but I support the club's approach to a player with exceptional talent who may break into the first team in the coming season.

I can not take anyone seriously who says they would rather watch Stoke than Barcelona. To say that United outplayed Barcelona is just plain stupid. Once again they gave us a lesson in possession play. It was a meaningless friendly if it had meant anything i fear the result would have been vastly different. I was worried how much Anderson gave the ball away, but I must say that especially in the first half Nani looked absolute class and i wondered to myself was he putting himself in the shop window. It is good to be possitive about United APC but to do so at the expense of criticising Barcelona just makes you look like a fool..RAINFISHTROMBONE

@RAINFISH, Watching Barcelona is like watching paint dry. PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS
PASS GOAL KICK PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS roll around on the floor ALL SURROUND THE REF, FREE KICK, PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS.

I like watching attacking entertaining football not PASS PASS KEEP BALL, it becomes boring just like watching them roll around on the floor and surrounding the Ref. It is interesting how they dont get booked for taking their shirt off and abusing other players goes unpunished. TAKE MESSI OUT OF THE TEAM AND BARCELONA BECOME SO BORING TO WATCH< IT PUTS YOU TO SLEEP.

Its funny to see that there are people in this world who have nothing better to do other than make deductions from a certain player's facial expressions. Get a grip, seriously.

Manchester United are rumoured to be investing large sums of money in a controversial new scientific experiment to create genetically modified designer test-tube football players.

If successful, the club would be able to design the perfect player by using DNA from living specimens which could potentially include soccer legends such as recently retired Paul Scholes and Edwin Van Der Sar.

Dr. Goodwin, of New Town University explained;
"The idea is to use the correct chromosomes from existing specimens to give the end product the correct attributes. Once they have identified the right attributes for the player and have found the correlating chromosome, there is very little to stop them"

If this project is successful, the club could dominate world football completely.

The club have refused to comment on the story but it may explain why they have been so spend-thrift in recent years.
