Im really looking forward to Saturday.
I expect us to play with a much higher line and intensity. I hope both dalot and shaw are fit. If not young will play.
Will bailly and lindelof start? Smalling maybe injured. Or will jones or rojo play?
Im sure pogba will play along with rash martial and jessie.
For me that leaves mata matic herrera fellaini and fred fighting for 2 places in the 11.

Honestly wouldn't rule out Ole playing Garner, he's maybe the most 'ready' of the youth products and plays one of our most sparse positions.

I think we could see Valencia at rb. He’s club captain, and would fit in with Ole’s get the team united objective. I think Young, Matic and Fellaini could be dropped as they were Jose’s hardcore supporters, and have kept their places despite consistent poor performances.

Quite a big statement in this first selection. I wonder if he will choose Pogba.

I would love to see a 442, pogba doesn't fit into that formation.

DP - top answer HAHA

Garner and Gomes have both traveled. Would be great to see them both at some point.

Think the upcoming FA cup game may present a better opportunity to see some of the youth though.

Pogba will start for me and will prob bust a gut which will be a slap in the face to us all.

Hi ed001. What is your opinion on martial? Do you think he will prosper now jose is gone and do you think he will sign a new contract.
Huge potential but his movement iff the ball has been really poor. Imo. But has he been stifled by jose? He converts a good percentage when he does get into positions to score.
Im hoping to see a lot more from him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - if he plays up front yes. He has a great finish on him but the rest of his game is poor.}

21 Dec 2018 15:38:07
Is one of martial’s stipulations to play up front ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is the position he would prefer and would like a chance to play there more often. Not so much a stipulation as a request strongly worded. What he wants is to feel like his future in the long term is seen as a striker.}

21 Dec 2018 16:33:30
Interesting thanks Ed. Think you are spot on that his finishing is great but he could do so much more with his immense talent. I think under an attacking manager we will start to see a world class player. But he needs to increase his work rate and consistency. As ken said, he does not make enough of the right runs off the ball. He has the world at his feet and he needs to take it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't think he is all that talented personally. }

21 Dec 2018 18:27:31
He is never a wide player will be a top striker in the years to come tho.

Agree0 Disagree2

21 Dec 2018 19:32:56
Ed001 your a tough critic.

Which MU if any do you rate?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Tuanzebe is excellent. De Gea is obviously incredible. Usually anyway. I think Dalot will be great in the future. Sanchez is an excellent player, though it has not worked out yet. Lingard makes some excellent runs and scores important goals, just needs to work on his mentality. And I really like Rashford, he just needs guidance. I also think Martial could be an excellent striker, but he needs to be in and around the box playing off a defender's shoulder, not on the wing where he is terrible and offers too little other than cutting in and shooting. Better to get him where he gets the ball in more dangerous areas.}

21 Dec 2018 19:35:39
See, I think he is better as a wide player because he can use his pace, and cut in to shoot. Up front he is too immobile to be effective. I think his first touch needs to be worked on, and his decision making and overall work rate are pretty poor. He does have ability, but I can’t see him working as a solo striker.

Agree0 Disagree2

21 Dec 2018 19:41:43
He will never be a top striker.

21 Dec 2018 21:22:27
I think Martial has somethng of an attitude, it might just be his somewhat morose demeanour but I’m not convinced he will fulfil his potential.

needs to come to chelsea then where hell be st.

21 Dec 2018 23:35:19
Guys like Rashford, Martial and Lukaku could not have a better teacher for the next 6 months when it comes to movement, and putting the ball in the net. Easy to forget how damn good Ole was. Shame he suffered with injuries, his goal tally would be much much higher.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2018 22:59:17
Agree Ed, how Tuanzebe isn't even in the squad is laughable when we have Jones and Smalling playing for us, hopefully with the new manager he'll be back in the team. Also, Bailly and Lindelof are not on your list i see, not a fan or not convinced?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Tuanzebe is a giant leap ahead of Jones and Smalling, no idea why those two are even still at United!

Bailly is too erratic and just not good enough on the ball to include. He is not one I would say you need to get rid of, like the aforementioned Jones and Smalling, but he needs to improve his all round game for me.

As for Lindelöf, he is coming on in leaps and bounds, but he is not quite there yet. Still has a tendency to get bullied physically too. He really does not like it when the game is a physical battle.}

21 Dec 2018 23:39:20
Ed001 I completely agree. Your point about Marital playing on the shoulder is key, this is why some believe he is a better wide player because of his ability to drift around a player, the issue is for him out wide is that often it is 2,3 players and that proves too much and the his final ball is poor. For what it’s worth, I also think Bailey has got strong foundations but needs to be coached in order to reach full potential.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - exactly KG. The only final ball Martial does well is shoot. His finishing is excellent. His composure in front of goal is also excellent. Get him the ball on the edge of the box on the move and there is a good chance of him scoring. If he is out wide, most of the time he is receiving the ball well outside the box and he has to track back, which is not his game, even when he does try to do it.

Bailly has to sort out his tendency to throw himself into needless challenges, improve his technique and stay fit. Most of all stay fit.}

21 Dec 2018 08:17:17
Given the number of games that we have left to go, that Matic is already exhausted and we are not going to be able to buy a new DM in January. I would like to see Bailley tried as a DM, if we could get another defender in.

I am not saying he would become a world class DM. But JM has left us desperate in that position and it would give us some energy in midfield that would be better than the alternatives.

I'd use Herrera.

Agree7 Disagree1

21 Dec 2018 10:05:11
I'm concerned that you could watch Bailly and think he has anywhere near the passing ability or spacial awareness to play defensive midfield.

Agree6 Disagree2

21 Dec 2018 11:03:38
I think Ole should perhaps focus on playing players in their normal positions and see how things work out with that first.

Agree8 Disagree2

21 Dec 2018 12:48:34
Maybe we could try mctominay in that position, instead of using him as a pawn to prove a point to pogba or prove a point to the board that they were wrong not to buy the manager a centre back.

Agree3 Disagree2

21 Dec 2018 13:08:07
We are shocking at CB so why would we move the only decent one we have out of that position in to one that he has not got the skills to play? CDMs don't need to be Tall bruisers - Herrera could slot in there. We could also stick in McTominay or another youngster.

Agree0 Disagree2

21 Dec 2018 13:42:46
Bailly can play as cb i hope.

Agree2 Disagree2

21 Dec 2018 14:01:53
Phil Jones has played there before.

Agree1 Disagree3

21 Dec 2018 14:20:30
Bailly is better suited to CB. If we are to play any CB in midfield I feel Lindelof would be best suited.

However, I'd rather go with Herrera.

21 Dec 2018 15:40:41
Was about to say shappy I think lindelof has qualities to play defensive midfield especially with his passing range and reading of the game. If we were to sign someone like koulibaly I would not be against seeing lindelof moved there. He has struggled with the physicality of the league at times and he would not have to worry about it as much in midfield. Having koulibaly and bailly behind him would offer more than enough cover. He would be like dier for spurs except more talented on the ball. However, I can’t see ole moving him from CB.

Agree1 Disagree2

21 Dec 2018 20:09:41
Park, if Pochettino joins in the summer I could see Lindelof playing the Dier role.

I think the EPL might just be a little too rough for him as a CB, but feel he could be excellent as a shield Infront of the back four and dropping back to cover for full backs.

21 Dec 2018 23:00:54
I agree completely shaps.
