First part of this weekend's sporting double header in the bag. Well done, Ireland. Please God, the game tomorrow isn't tense. I'm all out of fingernails.

3 incredible games Stevie, if only they all tried to play like that all the time.

I know, mate. I actually came as close as I ever could to feeling a little sorry for England today. Great effort from all three winners though. You're right. Games like that would make rugby union a much better spectator support for those who don't really follow it.

Rugby is played by men some of the knocks they took today were unreal and the fans actually care for there team

Rugby is a game played by men with odd shaped balls.

Mr E, I was asking my Scottish wife before the game. Does the Scottish sense of pride and self-worth, outweigh their hatred of the English. She said 'yes, of course'.

I think the result told a different story :)

ps. Stuart Hogg, who dropped the ball before grounding it in the last few minutes, is a distant relation of George Best. He knows where he's from :)

Didn't think I could watch 7 hours of Rugby Union.Rugby League for me all day long. But it was brilliant viewing. The standard of the refereeing was outstanding. Football could learn a lot from both codes.

Agree with TBL, you get league matches better than those week in week out, massively underrated sport. Give it a watch on Thursday and Friday nights when there's no other sport on!

The hit that plisson took from lawes was unbelievable given the fact that he still continued playing. Not sure he was the same after it though but I was impressed and if a was cornered by a bunch of fish wives I'd want them next to me.

The Vikings Wigan Red.I live on the south coast now so only get to go games when I go home to see the family. I try to plan visits around tasty home games like the Wire, Saints and Wigan. What's happening with the Warriors mate. I love the banter at the games. Loads of characters in the ground. Some of the one liners and comments are priceless. You really miss that when you're down here.Try asking for chips and gravy, some people look at you like you're abnormal! No babby's yed down here sad to say, you'd make a killing!

Great tournament this year. Your not going to like this noucamp but I don't think Ireland are a good rugby playing side, well you have the potential to be but the coach wasn't allowing you to play. Sure the functional grind em down approach works against most teams, until you try it in Cardiff, but you play like that in the world cup against the southern hemisphere boys and you'll come up short. The one game where you got let off the leash to play rugby you actually put a few try's on the board.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Mar 2015 12:54:22
Don't disagree, Mr E, but then we only have a tiny pool of players to choose from, so we have to adjust our tactics accordingly. Bit like Stoke when they were establishing themselves in the premiership.

No-one over here thinks we can beat the top teams in the south on a regular basis, but in a one-off game? Who knows? I'd never have believed we'd ever be third in the world.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Mar 2015 15:50:03
To be honest I don't think anyone's beating the southern big 3. England make too many mistakes that teams punish them for. France are going backwards, if they could kick properly yesterdays game would have been closer, Scotland are woeful. Leaves wales and Ireland carrying the flag.

Looking at Man City it some times feels like players just don't care enough during games.

I mean you can hit bad form no issues with that but the demeanour of certain players looks like they are here just to collect their huge pay cheques.

In that respect we were lucky to have SAF under whom despite winning pretty much every thing most of the players were still motivated to win and continue winning.

I think they are a team of individuals. Only Silva & Zabaleta (Milner when he plays) seem to pass for the betterment of the team. The others pass it so they are then on for another ball. Especially Aguero, Jovetic, Navas, Lampard, Bony & Nasri/Yaya when they play.

They are also guilty of slowing play too much, a bit like we do. Not just basing it on today of course which is a bit of non-game.

I mentioned the other month I thought Kompany was overrated and got shot down on here, have anyone's opinions changed on that?

Kompany has been really good for city but he's been poor this season, he looks nothing like the player he was 2 seasons ago.

21 Mar 2015 15:56:35
CTR I think he was very good until last season but seems to have suffered loss of form now.

He is look more and more like Sakho everytime I watch him. So uncomfortable on the ball and uneasy. Shows how key he was because City are playing how he is playing.

21 Mar 2015 16:36:36
I think kompany has been a key player for city, as beast says they play how he plays, when he's off form or injured city struggle. Would I put him amongst the best defenders, no.

21 Mar 2015 19:33:46
Kompany has been poor for a long time now, really annoyed me when Demi was absolutely slated every game when most of the time he was either covering or making up for a mistake Kompany had made. Very questionable.

Tough game tomorrow and as I have been saying all season, Liverpool are here to stay. However, I think we can go there full of confidence and put on a good performance and hopefully get a result or a draw.
My gripe is with all the press and especially the so called old united players, ince, owen, savage. They just can't seem to say anything good about our club. It is a shame as all players should have respect for the clubs they play for. Ince has become a scouse spokesman by the sounds of it while savage is . A thick idiot who is so full of jealousy about what his career could have been. My abiding memory of Ince, is when he scored against us at anfield and he went berserk thinking that he'd killed our chances of a league win that year, we all know what happened after!!
So let's get behind our team and I'm sure we can give a very good account of ourselves, if you listen to all the "experts", then all Liverpool have to do is turn up to win 5 nil, and even their players have been mouthing off all week about the lesson we will be taught tomorrow. I hope that United can do their talking on the pitch. Courage, aggression skill. Come on you need a.

I find Owen Hargreaves is the one that has something against Utd to, he seems to be all for City nowadays eventhough he was there not long.

21 Mar 2015 14:47:04
Some people just like sticking the boot in when they think you're on the way down. You got to look to players like Irwin, Mcclair and Beckham who could of really stuck the boot in all honesty.
As for these so called "experts" and their "predictions". They didn't come to much last weekend, when we were there for the taking, apparently. They'd be better off at home, playing with their geometry sets and felt tips, drawing lovely triangles for everyone.

Nomid - I'm delighted how we played last week and hope the corner has been turned, but the performance of the team this season (and recent seasons) has been awful for Man Utd. Past players will know they would have been shipped out in a heart beat during their day if they played how most of our players have played, so I can understand why they seem to have an axe to grind. The standards are slipping, our expectations are decreasing and that isn't nice to see if you have given your everything to a club (in most cases).

Also - They would kind of look blinkered if they were saying positive things about us, you hardly want to be tagged as biased if you want a job in the media!

We are a shadow of the team we were during their days, I would be even more annoyed if I had seen all my hard work building the team crumble is the manner it has. Bitter pill, but it needs taking.

Agree1 Disagree1

21 Mar 2015 15:02:04
FZZ - Hargreaves has an axe to grind as he wasn't happy how he was treated - just another taker! For a guy permanently on the sick he has done pretty well for himself, I don't even count him as an ex-player for us!

21 Mar 2015 15:44:07
Come on Beast.Biased? Carragher, Redknapp? Don't get me started on the prancer dancer Robot Savage. All incredibly biased. In this country, the media nabobs kick harder the faster you're falling.Yes, we're in decline, at the moment. But football's like that. One minute you're up, the next, you're down.
You post some really good stuff Beast, but we had an excellent performance against a team in top form last weekend .We play another one tomorrow, let's accentuate the positive. I know you want to really.

Agree2 Disagree1

21 Mar 2015 16:28:09
TBL - Definitely mate, I'm just explaining why former players imo are not exactly eager to back the current situation in it's entirety, both from a standards and future career point of view.

The media is very fickle, I just don't read too much into what any of the Scousers say. Our ex-players (most) are talking sense in my view, they are primarily hired because of who they have played for, so as we are going through a rough time they would be foolish to contradict what almost every neutral football fan thinks of us at the minute, many people like seeing a king knocked off their throne.

We Utd fans all know we will be back, the general media and neutrals are just relishing things at the minute. Let them have their moment (it's kind of justified compared to the standards we have set earlier), it will taste better when we turn it around and watching them all squirm. I don't think it will happen under this gaffer, but if we play like we did last week then I would love to be wrong as it was rejuvenating.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Mar 2015 16:43:00
I agree to an extent, players like Scholes its fair enough, but savage got sold as he wasn't good enough and never come to terms with that and knocks us every chance. Ince was sold as he thought he was Charlie big potatoes and since has an issue. Owens just trying to suck up to the scouse fans after all the abuse he got for joining us.

The most biased in the media are the likes of redknapp, souness, Niall Quinn and Tyler.

I just don't get when Man Utd are the side playing well, Liverpool will make it hard for them with the size of game etc but they never say it the other way round. Hopefully we silence them tomorrow on the pitch I for one think we are more than capable of doing so and not going to write us off as quick as the so called EXperts do.

21 Mar 2015 17:24:18
TBL, the club has been Irwin's and McClair's meal ticket. Expecting constructive criticism from either of them is dreaming. Beckham wouldn't say anything bad about anybody, for fear of someone thinking bad of him.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Mar 2015 18:25:33
A bit harsh Noucamp, I was trying to make a point about some ex players booting the dog when it's down, so to speak, Hargreaves, Savage were just examples. I didn't expect constructive criticism, it's just refreshing to see some ex players showing a bit of restraint. I can think of a lot more players and people who've used United as a meal ticket than Irwin and Mcclair.I think Beckham genuinely loves the club and it's fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Mar 2015 20:26:12
Those working in the media, who've left the club under a cloud, or with a bit of an axe to grind, are never going to give us a favourable mention.

'Meal ticket' maybe wasn't the best way to put it, because I've the utmost respect for Irwin and Choccy as club servants. But the club has given them a good living, and treated them well. Why bite the hand that feeds?

Ince was always a pain in the ar$e. See he's at it again with his son and the England set-up.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Mar 2015 22:40:59
Good points guys. But it still rankles how Ince savage Hargreaves never say a good word about us. Fine to criticise when we've had a bad game but to always knock us is ridiculous.
We've only lost twice against the clubs in top 6, so we must be doing something right! !

Noucamp99, Nomid, good posts gents, I agree, that trio of Ince, Hargreaves and Savage seem to really enjoy it when United have a bad game. Ince was always a big time Charlie and one of the biggest whingers to have ever played the game.I can't listen to 5 Live when Savage and Green are on together. I'm just a massive fan of both Irwin and McClair. Top professionals in my opinion. Hoping that today, certain pundits have to eat their words. Cantona put it beautifully, "When the seagulls follow the trawler, its because they think sardines will be thrown in the sea". Genius.

Ed just a quick question in regards to FFP and the court case taken on by Daniel Striani and the Lawyer who secured the 'bosman ruling' against UEFA claiming that the rules violate certain laws laid out in the treaty on the functioning of the EU.

The court case was due in February over two days but I cannot seem to find any information as to the outcome of the case and I was just wondering if you guys have any information on it?

Also with the FFP obviously having many essential flaws, in your opinion does this football agent Striani have a valid argument on his hands here? Personally I thought it was only a matter of time before the FFP rule was subject to legal proceedings.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The case was put aside as the original basis of the argument being put forward was found to be untrue. They may return with a different argument in the future but in the interim a number of clubs are actively trying to agree issues between themselves that they can then put to UEFA for consideration. There were meeting on Thursday and Friday this week addressing a number of issues to do with such things as applying a cap to commercial income in respect of FFP, and capping media income in terms of FFP. Various other issues were on the agenda as well. It is a slow process to get the clubs involved to agree.}

21 Mar 2015 11:09:34
I see that's why I couldn't see any outcome in regards to the case. It is indeed a complex issue and I am in no doubt any discussions regarding FFP is a slow process like you say. It will be intresting to see if the regulations as a whole hold up for the next few years.

Thanks ed.

Surprised anyone could understand him. It's a bit quiet on here today considering that in just over twenty four hours we're playing Liverpool in a massively important match. Just for a bit of fun/banter, what's everyone's favourite encounter between the two sides over the years? For me it has to be the FA Cup semi final 1985 at Maine Road. I was 16. I'd gone to Goodison, but this was something else .The atmosphere was unbelievable. Never felt quite felt like that before or since.Robson being carried by the fans at the end.Classic.

With RVP looking like he lost it all, Hernandez not going to be anything better than a supa sub & Falcao being a complete waste of time. UTD having him on loan as his best is behind him is much better than having paid the money upfront.

That being said the 40+ Million we would have spent on him would go very nicely on wolfsburg player Kevin De Bruyne if we could get our hands on him. It could also boost the happiness of Ardnan and Fellani and get them playing better also so win win. s

I doubt however that LVG would want him but how much do you guys Value him at. i'd say 30 Mill giving wolfsburg a 12 million profit minus fees owed to Chelsea

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Mar 2015 07:33:45
If the apparent '£16million' to loan Falcao is indeed true then that is still a fair chunk of money spent on a 'flop'.

As for KDB I feel we all rate him on here and we would love to snag him but it will tough to convince Wolfsburg to cash in on him. The price is very subjective and if they have numerous clubs willing to go up against each other to battle for his signature then the price could eventually be a mammoth sum. He is better than Hazard in my opinion and Chelsea will regret letting him go even if they did make a substantial profit on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Wolfsburg have money to spend, they are looking to buy more not sell.}

21 Mar 2015 09:11:34
I know they are a very rich club ed. Is it true they are looking at Lukaku also?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they are mildly interested yes, mostly because he was offered to them so they took a look at him. Just about the same time he stopped moping around the pitch not bothering oddly enough. Not that I would suggest he has a bad attitude or anything and is only playing to get money from a move......}
