UTD CRUISED THROUGH against chelsea , please people get a grip , on any other day it should of been a high scoring draw at least , and sydney your first choice backline is smalling and jones and who ever else , you know this or you should , as ferdinand is slower than ever and nearly done with his injurys , as for evra hes finnished as a top full back , you all know it , no wonder i have to come on here to correct your lack of football sense............lfc

think its worth noting that when we have had our most succesful seasons (CL and PL at least) we have had a good battler in midfield. At one time it was Keane and most recently it was Hargreaves, with him gone is that the area that is actually missing? Buying M'Vila wouldn't hold back Anderson or Cleverly (something that modric could well do). He can play along side one of them or both in a midfield three. He has said Man Utd is his dream and i reckon he'd want to stay here for many years, Arsenal are also interested but i think the obvious choice would be us should we go in for him. Was he the one that 'wasn't available' in summer? He'd signed a new contract and said he'd stay for the year so United were being respectful to him and his club perhaps. £15 million will do im sure, certainly not much more than £20!

i thought pogba done well last night, gave a good assured performance, some people seem not to happy with his performance but i think that has more to do with the hype, his been bigged up that much that people were expecting fireworks, but for a 18 year old playing his first game he did well.
fryers also played well and some people seem to be more impressed with him ,but again i think this comes down to expectation levels , at the end of the day they both played well

Any one see the snn interview with ray hall ex everton academy director talking about rooney
"at 15 he was the best player in the whole academy system, at 16 he was the best player at everton and at 17 he was the best player for england, 6 years on his one off the best in the world .........he gave us a benchmark of what a potential world class footballer should be, so we use this to assess were boys are now compared to the best"
what do people think, is this not setting the bar a bit high , also anybody know how highly everton rate barkley

Manchester United were so in control of this Carling Cup tie [against Leeds], so committed to attack, that they could afford to finish with arguably one of the most creative back-fours ever in Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Dimitar Berbatov and Fabio. Berbatov likes dropping deep but this was ridiculously deep.
great quote taking from guardian,
But i am worried if we do get more injuries, how will we cope in the bigger games? your thoughts ed?

Fullback {Ed007's Note - I think Utd will cope fine.They are doing fine so far without Vidic and Ferdinand. There are only a handful of teams better than Chelsea, at home and Europe, yet Utd cruised through that game.}

i wish owen would get more games, its clear to see his finishing is still brilliant. And his movement suits the new style of play more than berbatov. :)

would appreciate if for once one of my posts got up! :(

Kenwyne Jones is injured for Stoke at the weekend and Crouch played 110 minutes last night so may be a little leggy come the 60th minute against us. Woodgate looks like he is still injured so that's two players good at scoring headers out of the game this weekend. It's always a worry when we have Jonny in defense. Stoke's only wingers Etherington & Pennant played the full 120 minutes. And they lost 4.0 to Sunderland last week, so perhaps we are playing them at a good time.

We need to know if Rio or Vidic is training today to know if any of them will be fit for the weekend, but the fact that SAF went with Carrick & Zeki in defense yesterday means they probably won't be ready, as he wouldn't risk either Jones or Evans. But other than that our attack is very strong. We will have Anderson, Nani, Young, Welbeck, Hernandez & Rooney fit so with any luck we will take on a leggy Stoke team and win. The questions are, will Ferdinand be fit? Could there be an outside chance of Vidic returning? Who will play Hernandez or Welbeck?

___________De Gea

Toni____Jones____Evans____Evra

_____Fletcher____Anderson

L.Nani______Rooney______Young

__________Hernandez

Lindegaard
Ferdinand
Fabio
Carrick
Park
Giggs
Welbeck

Some of the posts i've read have made me laugh. Criticizing Pogba? seriously? what was you honestly expecting? I thought his passing was very accurate, he closed down players well and made some good tackles. Okay, so he wasn't as good as he was for our youth team, but i'm fairly sure that Leeds are better than a youth team, he's got to get used to playing with the big boys. but i guess most of the guys with tinted specs expect him to light up the world....

Secondly, I thought Diouf done really well, he let a couple of balls slip admittedly but his overall performance was quite good i thought, should of scored at the beginning but dragged it wide. it still amazes me how he's not amongst the 1st team, as much as i love Berbatov i'd rather have Diouf on the bench than him at the moment.

The rest of the debut lads I thought done well, especially Fryers, I don't think anyone of us were expecting to see him line-up. I also thought Cole done well, he didn't see loads of the ball but he tracked back well, made some decent runs, and in all honestly looked like he could grow into the role.

Everybody else I thought was superb, Fabio annoyed me a little but defensively he didn't do too much wrong, Valencia and Carrick were also very good at CB. Berbatov was average, but really came into his own when we stuck him at CB ;). On a serious note, he showed what he's capable of, great skill, picked out some good passes for Owen, but still not the standard i'd expect him to be at.

Welbeck also looked very sharp which was good too see. Ben Amos i also thought looked the part, although he didn't have to do much he seemed confident.

Good performance overall.

Morning all you haters, I just thought i would wait and see how many of you would give Carrick any credit for a faultless display at Centre Half. When the game was getting over heated he just cooled everything down and took the heat out of it. Fergie must have been really pleased with his performance obviously it won't be good enough for you lot.

My next point is that can i believe that i am reading some people on here criticise Pogba on his debut. What did they expect? I have commented to Sydney in the past that I thought he would have to learn that in the first team it isn't that easy to get the ball back but even so I think he oozes class and will be a great player. Unfortunately some on here wanted him to give the same performance Keane gave in Turin in 99.

I thought it was a brilliant performance from a second team who put Leeds to the slaughter. I thought every player did there bit though even though i am a big supporter of his i thought Berba's attitude wasn't that good it seemed that he knew he was second choice and wasn't happy. He showed flashes of the absolute quality he has but he also showed why Fergie doesn't want him in this new quick passing team.RAINFISHTROMBONE

Well after all the talk of Pogba. He was useless when he came on very over rated.. i think fergie is really going to have to buy a midfielder in January to have any chance of doing well in the CL this season
