This inter marseille match is awful.

Sneijder does not look any good at all! Ducking out of challenges left right and centre. He's not even a luxury player, he's giving the ball away twice for every one average pass. Would prefer to bring back Djemba Djemba and buy back20Million quids worth of bonds thank you very much!

What is the general feeling towards the squad? Do you think with full back cover and a top central midfielder then we would have a very balanced and very good squad? If we kept Berbatov then that would definatly be the case as we would have 4 class strikers.

Maybe say Eriksen and Fofana/Clyne?

What does Everyone think of Hoilett?

Not from a signing point of view but just in general..

I think he's a very good young player with a bright future in the game, he's on a free in the summer so i'm expecting him to move to someone like Spurs..

he reminds me of a cross between Lennon and Valencia in terms of his build and quickness..

I'm not suggesting we sign him but I wouldn't mind having 4 wingers next season...Nani and Valencia would be first choice and then Young and Hoilett as back up for those two...

Excellent article by David Conn in the Guardian. No matter how much Sydney and other Glazer Apologists defend these blood sucking leaches. Remember they have taken 500 Million out of our club to pay their debt.

For most normal souls outrage can only last so long, and at Manchester United, supporters' fury at the Glazer family's pillage of their club has been tempered by titles won, the glories of Wayne Rooney, Nani and the rest in full flow, as well as the passage of nearly seven years. The Glazers have sat across the Atlantic, not communicating with the club's fans, and ridden it out until battle weariness has consigned green and gold to the fringes. The release of impassive accounts for "MU Finance plc" has become a quarterly ritual, with the world pointed to the growth in the club's income, from TV deals which would have increased anyway, and commercial operations the Glazers have required to be sweated until the brand squeaks.

Yet the latest figures, covering the Glazers' financial machinations with United for the final three months of 2011, document a landmark. From October to December 2011, the cost of the Glazers' "leveraged buyout" of United, when they loaded their own £525m borrowings on to the club itself to repay, was £17.5m. The club paid £12.2m in interest and other financing charges, and £5.3m paying off some actual debt, which nevertheless remains over £400m. As documented with forensic anger by Andy Green in his "Love United, Hate Glazer" Andersred blog, the total drained out of United in interest, bank charges and other payments before these latest figures was £480m. So the total cash taken out of United, to pay for a takeover the fans and then board did not want, was £497.5m by 31 December. In round figures, and anyway now, with two months further interest from December, the Glazer family have been responsible for £500m going out of United.

Most United supporters know this and have never become reconciled to the damage done, only, slowly, to the frustration that there is nothing they can do about it. The Premier League, Football Association and government, after unrolling the red carpet for the Glazers in 2005, have ever since been silent.

There are a few contrary voices in support of the Glazers' record, so the tedious argument does have to be joined with the fact that United have continued to be successful under their rule, winning four Premier League titles since 2005 and one Champions League, in 2008. The three most straightforward answers to that are: United, who were hugely rich, had no debt, a great manager and squad of top players when the Glazers arrived, might have been even more successful, perhaps dominated in Europe as well as the Premier League, had £500m dead money not gone to bankers since.

Secondly, it is arguable that the Glazers' shrewdest move has been effectively to leave Old Trafford well alone, knowing that in Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill, they had the partnership to maintain success, even given so much less money to play with.

Third, give the Glazers as much credit as you like, decide the playing success really is somehow all due to their absentee and debt-laden ownership, yet still no argument can be advanced for how leaking half a billion pounds out of the club, still to barely chip into the originally imposed debt, has been good for United.

The US owners of two of England's other biggest clubs, Arsenal and Liverpool, both motivated financially by the Premier League's global TV and commercial income, fly in this week. Stan Kroenke will contemplate the crumbling of quality at Arsenal and departure of several top players during his ownership, while ticket prices for fans were increased. John Henry will arrive for a Wembley final after a deeply ignominious episode in the club's history, the Luis Suárez affair, the leadership at Liverpool furiously criticised by a coalition of anti-racism groups.

Henry has always expressed puzzlement with United fans' objections to the Glazers' debt-loading, given United's success. Kroenke, who paid Arsenal's selling English shareholders millions personally but has committed to not putting a cent into the club itself, in his only public address to date, memorably went out of his way to express admiration for what the Glazers have done. MU Finance plc is where those deeds are recorded, and even after so long, the running total should always be observed.

There can be no argument about it just apathy from replica shirted idiots sat in pubs watching United but not really caring about the club as long as they see a trophy...I AM KLOOT

"Michael Owen's training well," Ferguson stated, ahead of United's Europa League second leg against Ajax. "With his record of injuries we need to make sure he does a full preparation before he joins us. I would think he'd join us in about two weeks."

Asked about Berbatov, Ferguson commented: "He's fit and he'll be here next year."

If Eriksen comes in, then do you see a change in formation to more of a 4-3-3 with Rooney playing up top on his own, i think if Sneijder had come in then this would of been done as i think SAF would like to have Rooney play up top in some games.

I think a good line up if Eriksen were to come in would be a structured 4-3-3:

---------------- De Gea ------------------

Rafael ---- Ferdinand ---- Vidic -------Evra

-------------- Carrick/Jones --------------

-------- Eriksen --------- Cleverly --------

Valencia --------------------------- Nani

---------------- Rooney -----------------

Or other options if w wanted two strikers would be:

------------------ De Gea -----------------

Rafel ----- Ferdinand ----- Vidic ------ Evra

Valencia -- Cleverly/Eriksen -- Carrick --- Nani

----------- Rooney ------ Welbeck/Chicarito

I think that would work and Eriksen would fit with our transfer policy. Compliment that with a young forward, maybe a versatile defender and perhaps a talented winger like Alvaro Vadillo.

Can someone tell me why they think a midfield of Modric and Cleverly would work well? Do you think both of them would give us enough cover in the big games against the likes of City who have a very powerful midfield. In the big games if Modric came in the only way we could have them both in the team is in a midfield three like:

Modric Jones Cleverly

Of course i would like Modric here as he is class and i think its more likely than someone like a Gotze, but i still need convicing that he is the right way to go.

It's that time of the week again, time to try and predict the Ajax game line-up. I think Lindegaard may be back, although I think DDG will play against Ajax due to his fine display last week. I think Fabio will play at LB again with Smalling & Evans as the CB's. I think Jones will play RB. Now Rooney is out I think we may play a three man midfield with Pogba making his first start?

Interesting quote from SAF, asked whether Pogba will stay or not "It's possible. There's been no progress on his contract talks."

All other times he seems to have been confident he will stay...maybe we shouldn't read too much into it but I don't view this as great news.

Out of a list of strong midfielders who may be available who would you choose?

Khedira
Diarra
Martinez
Rodwell
Fellaini
M'Villa
Bender
Sandro

OR

Stick with Fletcher, Carrick and then wait for Pogba and Tunnicliffe.

If you can think of someone else please say.

1. I think you have misunderstood what this means, we are in a very strong position

2. What were you expecting in the summer? People on this site say we need 3 players but then are we are struggling to work out what position we need. I think we will sign 2 players in the summer, an attacking midfielder / forward and maybe another central defender / left back, and they will add to the strong young squad we have assembled.

GDS(0)(0)
we had 150 mill we now have 50 mill what is it ive misunderstood, how does having 100 million less put us in a strong position in the transfer market, and i have no problem working out what we need, and i wasnt expecting anything in the transfer market,i would like a midfielder or two a left back and maybe a forward but we dont alwys get what we want, now explain yourself.

I am a little concerned about what Sir Alex has said about never leaving the club. Hopefully we have learnt from the past mistakes when Sir Matt stayed at the club and cast a giant shadow over every manager attempting to fill his shoes. Liverpool got it right when they told Shankley to stay away from the training ground and club. They realised that players need to have only one boss. I have no doubt that someone like Moyes would quite happily come and work with Sir Alex in the background and i know that Sir Alex is keen on that type of arrangement rather than someone who would want to take over everything. Someone like Moyes is always going to be the choice of the Glazers as he works on a shoe string budget at Everton which they like immediately. Sentimentality could cost us if we allow him to hang around the club though the one good thing is he has no interest in training anyway he is more interested in the starting prices at todays races than what they are doing on the training pitches. Hence our most successful times have been when we have had a good no 2. Sir Alex you are doing an unbelieveable job even with your hands tied by the Glazers but when its time to go its time to go. This is purely for Manchester United supporters I really have no interest in the oppinions of Liverpool supporters about our club. I AM KLOOT

Something I really don't understand is Liverpool fans taking the p***s out of us for being in the Europa cup.
Is it just me or does it only make sense to ridicule people who are in a worse position to yourself.
How can they ridicule someone for being in a competition that they weren't good enough to even qualify for never mind drop into as a consolation!
Also, our performances and team this year, we are 19 points clear but WE are rubbish!
Beggars belief!!

I'll give them the carling cup and fa cup banter though, no defence against that, although I would advise them to not count their chickens just yet

Something that stuns me is the lack of tranfers in from the Bundesliga, it is the most similar to the Premier league of all the major leagues and is played at a high level with players being taught an excellent balance between technique and athlectism, Germany has similar weather and culture to england so would be easier for player coming from there to settle here. Last summer Sahin and Vidal left for pastures new for 8 and 14m which is peanuts compared to prices paid for similary talented players from other leagues, with Khedira and Ozil leaving the year before for similar deals.

Look at the players currently in the Bundesliga:
Schweinsteiger, Muller, Toni Kroos, Gomez, Alaba, Neuer, Adler, Leno, Schurrle, Hummels, Subotic, Schmelzer, Bender, Gotze, Kagawa, Gundogan, Lewandowski, Barrios, Howedes, Podolski, Fuchs, Draxler, Holtby, Papadopoulos, Marin, Reus, Ter Stegen, Ribery and Robben all great players and some potentially world class players there who could be picked up for very reasonable prices.

Just a thought.

Shappy {Ed001's Note - I have said the same myself for years, Vidal, especially, was a bargain, I really thought United would have snapped him up!}
