Whats the injury that Nani has sustained? This is quite frankly rediculous, the list of the players out:

Ferdinand
Vidic
Jones
Carrick?
Evra?
Cleverly
Fletcher
Anderson
Nani
Rooney?
Young
Hernandez? Think he has a knock.
Owen

I might of missed people off the list, the squad is that thin. That lot could make up a pretty good team alone:

Stick a gk in and you'd have a back 4 of Jones, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Midfield of Nani, Young, Cleverly, Carrick and have Wazza up top. Thats better than most sides in the world!

For Liverpool we are going to have to dig deep and youngsters will play a part, thats for sure.

Fryers, Pogba will be used in some capacity, Morrison and Keane might be.

At worst we could see us line up like this (assuming all the players mentioned will miss the game:

De Gea

Rafael
Smalling
Evans
Fabio/Fryers

Valencia
Giggs
Pogba
Scholes
Park

Welbeck

The rest of the squad will be on the bench:

Lindegaard, Fryers, Berbatov, Keane, Morrison, De Laet...no one else available really.

If we win the league this year with the injuries we have had it will be our best win ever i think. We have to face up to it though, that could potentially be the team that we have to play against L'pool next week if things go bad in the treatment room.

Maybe we will have a deal wrapped up by then? If we could even get Clyne in by then, i'd be happy, thats one more player at least and he has the potential to flourish at Old Trafford under the right guidance.

Sydney what you thinking on the line up? Any news on the injuries? I hope a few players are back for the match. For the first time ever i wish we had Gibson.

Yes was a great result in keeping pressure on city but also showed utds failings which have cost us at times this season, the positions utd got themselves into esp 1st half against what is a poor Arsenal side&didnt have that quality to deliver or pick out that player to finish game off! How many times for all what he can do does nani always hit the first man on crosses?wanting to rule europe then you may only get that one chance vs the great sides!

Do you guys think Rio needs replacing in the summer? I don't think that he will ever complete a full season again, he's lost his pace too. I do feel we need someone experienced in there though, with Vidic out for a while its made the issues more complicated. If he was too go i'd like to use him in a deal for someone to knock the price down - I wonder if we could use him and some cash to tempt Spurs into giving us Bale? I'm not sure.

If he were to go, who do you think you should sign as a replacement?

After the jones injury does anyone think the Clyne deal (if there is one) might go through this window say after the semi final?

Does anyone know how many points Liverpool are behind us at the moment? Can't seem to see them on the league tables, certainly don't seem to be in the top 6

Why not give Valencia the number 7 shirt in summer? He's been absolutly great for us this season. I can understand why we didn't give it him when he came in to the club - he was not the 'new' Ronaldo and it was important to make sure everyone new that, he is his own man. But he has developed into one of our best players and i think he deserves the honour of the number 7 shirt when Owen is moved on the summer.

Wow! Liverpool fans must be rubbing their hands with glee. Jones & Nani injured for next week and Rooney, Evra & Welbeck all carrying knocks. We really are struggling with injuries.

Complete and utter domination in that first half. We must have had 60% possession. Glad we got a goal from all of that possession. We really could get a bag full today if we commit one or two more forward into the box, but I also think we could concede by doing that so maybe we are playing right at the moment. I will stick with my 3.1 prediction. Shame about beast, that looks like a couple of months out, hope I am wrong, we really need to start getting some luck with the injuries, it's getting silly now. I think Rafael has been outstanding in his place, if the boy could stay injury-free he could be a real talent. Nani is playing well, getting into good areas, just struggling with the final ball. Will See Scholes and possibly Hernandez in the second half if we can stay injury-free.

Finally a good cross from the left side and we score, Nani is so frustrating, has so many chances to make the right pass and just doesn't make the correct play.

Thats why I would have a LW like Toni putting crosses in instead of Nani.

Those who say Nani and Evra should be sold for whatever reason I think this performance shows why they shouldn't be. I think Evra is excellent and we won't be able to get a better LB. Nani is just sensational, he's looked dangerous at all times. If we lost those two we'd be a heck of a great deal worse off.

Balotelli should not be allowed to play after the stamp he just did on Parker. There is no way he did it accidently as makes a deliberate, faster movement towards Parkers head. Absolutely disgusting, it is that sort of behavior that is what makes people hate footballers but will he get a ban? Probably not. As I say, that is shocking play and horrible.

Something i've been thinking about for awhile is the comments Sir Alex has made about using the Barcelona template. Now i think alot of us(myself included) thought that ment playing like Barca, but the more i think about it the less likely i think that is.

Sir Alex talks alot about playing the Manchester United way and i don't think he'd change our style. We aren't impersonaters we have our own identity. I do think our style will evolve slightly as it has done over the years in order to stay competitive but a wholesale change is very unlikely.

So what does he mean? I think what he was refering to is the way in which Barca have built a squad of young mostly spanish players and molded them into a "total team". By having mostly spanish players and by having them at a young age playing together means that there isn't too many cultural differances amoungst the team and they know each others games inside out. This is what i think Sir Alex is aiming for, since we lost in the 09 final we've signed Smalling Jones and Young as well as intergrate Cleverley and Welbeck along with young englishmen like Fryers Morrison Tunnicliffe Will Keane and Lingard all being prepared for the first team. The palyers we've been linked to like Zaha Clyne Redmond Rodwell and Barkley also point toward a young mostly english team being assembled. I fully expect within 3 years time we could put out a competitve fully english side. Obviously we'll still see non english players at the club and being brought in but i think Sir Alex is looking for and solid english core for which to build around in the way that Barca have done with young spanish players.

Looks as though City and Spurs are going to cancel eachother out, could be worse but not ideal! Every little helps though i think!

Interesting to hear the Nathaniel Clyne rumours, for 3 million i think he'd be good. Will probably go on a similar career path to Kyle Walker who i have always liked. I think he will be a good addition and would add good competition to the squad.

I watched a bit of Valencia the other day, and i thought that Alba was very impressive, surprisngly so in fact. I hadn't rated him but that performance has started to change my opinion of him. Still think Izaguirre is the likelt target with Alba, Baines, Schmelzer and Willems all making the list.

We need a new left midfield wide player, Young is a asquad player and i don't think should start for us. I'd love Bale to join us but not for these utterly stupid prices. Di Maria could be an option if Real Madrid sign Hazard. Don't know how good he would be but he could be okay. If we sign Gaitan then it will be for the left flank, not central midfield.

Centrally we will go British/Someone from the EPL, so ive ruled out all other names. Barkley, Rodwell, Fellaini, Cabaye, Sandro, Lampard - even Mark Daview could make the leap although i wouldn't bet on it.

A striker is going to come in at some point, Berbatov and Owen will remain till summer, then be shipped out. Van Wolfswinkel name has resurfaced so that is possible, its hard to pinpoint a name but it will be a decent striker who is willing to rotate.

So possible predictions for you to think about maybe:

Clyne
Rodwell
Alba
Bale ideally, but unlikely - maybe Di Maria
van Wolfswnkel

I am going to add my two cents to this debate about shirt numbers and say that on the back of his form, when played, this season that cleverley deserves the no.7. He is a player to come through the ranks, who has worked hard and is starting to show his worth to the side. Plus he is as creative as they come.

Also if you want to take the no value for money/glazier leeches approach why not give welbeck the no.9, Nani no.11 and morrison no.17? If carrick was to go then pogba no.16?

I can only see Cleverley/Welbeck changing their number this end of season, but only one of them.

______Lindegaard
Small_Evans_Jones_Evra
____Carrick_Giggsy
Toni____Rooney____Nani
_______Welbeck

Could this be the line-up lads and lasses? I think this is the perfect game for DDG, but have a feeling Lindegaard will continue in goal. I hope Ferdinand is fit, but if not then I can see this defensive line-up. I think Giggs and Scholes will share the game, I think Scholes is prone to early yellow cards, so Giggs may start with Scholes on the bench. I hope Welbeck is fit, if he is I cannot see anyone other than him playing upfront. This is not the Arsenal of old so no need for a five man midfield. I think Valencia will ruin whoever he goes up against and if AW concentrates on Valencia too much then Rooney, Welbeck and Nani will have a field day. Thoughts lads?

007 could the twins really be on their way out in the summer? i really like them - seem like they're very grateful to us. And i have heard both are big jokers in the team and like to try and keep morale up.

don't get me wrong we all know of their injury concerns.

but they could still put it behind them and start getting regular games as its clear to see the talent they have. Both can play both WB and are pretty fast and getting stronger.

even if we only keep them on as back up they are brilliant cover.

At a loose end yesterday with no game ,so popped along to the Reebok.Very enjoyable experience watching Charlie Adam & Andy Caroll ,much funnier than Live at the Apollo. Carolls control is the worst of any proffesional that iv'e seen and his work rate is non existant.Very impressed again with Mark Davies who was outstanding at OT last week.Anyway many thanks again Qeen Kenny for an unforgettable Saturday night watching Liverfool, long may you reign.

Interesting that as we approach the end of this transfer window lots of talk about who we now sign in the SUMMER. To me , taking into consideration the state of the squad , I am really frustrated and angry that we haven't brought anybody in and despite Fergies claims on quality players being available we could have bought in at least 2 new players that would have given us cover and extra strength.

Bit of a debate going on today about squad numbers, this is how i think that it will go:

- Rafael will get the number 2
- Fabio eventually number 3
- Welbeck number 9
- Young number 7
- Cleverly number 18
- New number 11 - Bale
- Pogba number 23

I just have this feeling that Bale is the man SAF wants, we have bid for him every other season for the past 5 seasons, there is obviously an interest there. Especially with his interest in moving centrally too. We will be light on wingers when Giggs and Park leave, so Bale would tick a number of boxes. He's the perfect replacement for Giggs - alternatively we could go for Adam Johnson but he is even more difficult to get a hold of i would imagine.

RedDevil19 {Ed007's Note - I'd say Izaguirre will be No.3 RD19. The twins could be away altogether in the summer as well. Their injury problems are causing concern. 'Two Darren Andertons' has been mentioned.}
