Roy Keane tells it as he sees it.

He is a great watch ken. Every single word he spoke was truth. Massive task on ole’s hands unfortunately.

The truth is there to see. Manchester United need to sit down and plan. And buy players that fit that plan. Currently you have a mixed bag of players bought for particular roles of previous managers. It’s a mess. Time to hit the reset button.

When he didn't get trapped in simple narratives and made more nuanced points he was bang on the money.

Not many believing in our great squad now.
He just says what other won't say for fear of being disloyal.
I would suggest anybody who says this is a great squad is being disloyal to the club. Sticking your head in the sand is not the way to deal with the problems we have.
Lots of endeavour tonight from some but lots of poor play too. No control with or without the ball.

Again for the 2nd summer in a row getting players out is going to be as important as getting then in.
Keane said it as it is. The attitude stinks and it needs to be resolved for once and for all.

Interesting night ahead.

Its a tough one and I totally get why some wsnt us to lose but as much as I would hate Liverpool to win the league (think I'd have to go into hiding for a while) It's got to be a Utd win tonight I'd prefer. A win gives us 1 last chance of maybe getting 4th. That's best for us.

Also the league isn't over tonight both Liverpool and City could still drop points.

Cheer them on for the win.

I must be one of the few that can’t stomach the thought of fellow fans actually wanting us to lose a game of football when we are in such a dire situation yet with something to pay for.

They are not real fans they are plastic.

I know all about the Liverpool rivalry. I’m old enough. But I just can’t digest the thought of celebrating a loss. It’s as poisonous as the people employed by the club and it makes us a laughing stock.

Come on United!

Agree4 Disagree1

24 Apr 2019 19:44:35
Away and boil your head Wazza. They ain’t plastic, if anything, the illness that is true passion for United is the very thing that makes them want their fiercest rivals not to win the league! It’s completely sick but it’s borne of passion for United. I’ll be cheering us on by the way but fully understand the impulse to want a city win.

24 Apr 2019 20:39:10
RWWD it just makes you sound like the ABU’s we’ve put up with for years. Double standards, hoping somebody else doesn’t win the league when we are nowhere near it ourselves.

Agree2 Disagree4

24 Apr 2019 22:22:02
One thing i can't stand is other fans calling others plastics and the feeling that they have some sort of moral superiority.

Just support the team.

24 Apr 2019 23:22:44
What in my post do people disagree with? I’m happy to talk about it. The passion for United manifests in not wanting Liverpool to win the league. Call it what you like but it’s not plastic, it’s just misplaced passion. Fairly uncontroversial point I feel.

Hopefully Sanchez starts tonight and the lads pass the ball to him. Looked better before his recent injury, but the 'cool gang' wouldn't play it to him when in space.

Could be the ideal game to turn his career around, he will work and deserves a chance after the fiasco of last weekend. The guys got a point to prove, hopefully Ole gives him a shot.

Team has been leaked and its something like this

DeGea, Darmian, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw, Young, Fred, Perera, Pogba, Lingard abd Rashford.

Not very convinving if that is true!

24 Apr 2019 18:44:30
I hope this is wrong, but thanks Singh - I'd expect no more than 30% possession with that lot, I don't see how we will keep the ball in their half - scary that it's come to this.

If anyone wants Utd to lose then they have no business supporting our Club.

I couldn't care less about City or L'pool or any other Club. If Utd can't win the league it doesn't matter who wins it.

All we should be focussed on is our own performances and getting our own house in order.

I want to see us hunt City down tonight, give them no space to think or breathe. I want to see our players leave nothing behind and prove Utd are not going to retreat into the shadows without a fight. The only way we'll return to the top is by fighting blood, sweat and tears and expecting anything less to deny another team winning the league (even our fiercest rivals) is simply not in our DNA.

I don't even want Utd to lose a friendly never mind a derby I hope that answers your question.

Ideally a United win followed by Liverpool losing the rest of their remaining games.

Couldn't care less about the result. The performance is more important. If they turn up and try we could get a result. If we get a sequel to the weekend then we will lose. Some of them are playing for their future at the club but do they care.

If this is true then it should highlight one major problem

Rumours yesterday suggested that Solskjaer had identified Wan Bissaka as the player he wanted. However, the rumour in the press was that Woodward wants to buy 28 year old Kieran Trippier instead. Let's see what happens.

Imagine Tottenham buying Wan Bissaka whilst we fund it by buying Trippier.

24 Apr 2019 07:18:00
AWB is of interest, I don’t think Trippier is.

24 Apr 2019 09:17:27
Red man, you know better than anyone on here not to trust the press.

We all know the problems within our club. But this post seems like a cheap shot that is certainly below you.

Also we have been told that AWB is of interest, while Tripper isn't. Which means your more likely to face backlash on this post if we do indeed sign AWB.

Come on mate, your better than this.

The reports goes on to say that woodward basically wants to buy the england team that did ‘well’ at the last world cup.

If by ‘well’ you mean having less shots on target than saudi arabia and mainly parking the bus and relying on set pieces.

If the report had any validity it would confirm woodwards lack of knowledge in this area but i highly doubt it is accurate.

We are in quite a state and the media know any negative stories (true or not) will gain traction with our rather hysterical fanbase (myself included) .

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Apr 2019 09:39:32
As much as Bissaka would be the better buy maybe they are looking more for now than the future.

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Apr 2019 09:56:49
Luket, We haven't got a sqaud good enough for now. Signing players over the age of 27 is pointless at this stage. They will be on the decline by the time the rest of the squad are reaching their peak and would therefore need replacing before we can seriously compete. Paying high wages and big fees for players supposedly at their peak has got us into this mess.

We need to return to a transfer policy that has worked for us in the past, best young talent. End of.

Agree6 Disagree0

24 Apr 2019 10:04:50
would ole continue as the manager if he was getting told which players to buy?

i understand there's a list of players and if you can't get player A you go for player B and so on.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2019 10:30:57
Unsubstantiated tat from dubious media source, used to back up poster's narrative. Shock, horror!

Agree5 Disagree0

24 Apr 2019 10:37:45
But Shappy given that logic, do we then really need to buy a RB? We have a young talented RB in Dalot. If we buy Wan Bissaka, where does that leave Dalot? WB would obviously be first choice for a while and that will surely, how do you say it, "stump the progress" of a young talented RB. wouldn't Trippier (not saying that we are in for him or he will come) be a more stabilizing option, with a lethal freekick on him and someone who can deliver balls into the box, while Dalot progresses. He can give us 2-3 years of service.

Agree1 Disagree5

24 Apr 2019 10:48:23
United Addict,

We don't really know Dalot's best position. He has played very well on the wing.

Potentially Wan Bissaka at RB and Dalot as a RW. I'd be happy with that.

Also read what ED001 wrote about Bissaka aswell. I'm very surprised he has t had an England call up yet. Trippers has been awful this season.

Agree4 Disagree2

24 Apr 2019 11:29:42
United Addict, Dalot has huge potential. He can play very well at LB as well as RB. He has played very well on the wing as well.

My personal preference would be to go for a 26-27 year old RB. However, there aren't many in that age bracket who are good enough. Muiner being the obvious choice if available.

Wan-Bissaka is a home grown alternative who can play as a RB, RWB, RW and RCB in a three man defence. In time he could even play as a CB in a flat back four.

There are loads of good reasons why we should try and sign him.

Agree4 Disagree1

24 Apr 2019 11:29:10
Heaven forbid that we have two great right backs competing for the same starting spot whilst also providing cover for rotation over a long season. Honestly. What would we do next? buy a CB that can defend? Its just too much.

Agree5 Disagree1

24 Apr 2019 11:38:59
UA we are already in this mess because of poor purchases. Trippier is not going to help.
Ideally we need 4 good fullbacks because this position will drain the players if we play high intensity football next season.

Dalot can cover both left and right fullback spots. We have struggled badly when Shaw is injured/ suspended. So 3 fullbacks fighting for 2 spots will provide good competition, will keep them on their toes and bring the best out of them.

I posted a rumour, last time I looked that is what the site is about and didn’t realise it had to have approval

As for Noucamps comment re “dubious media used to back up poster's narrative. Shock”. So Stevie, you think I was having a go at Ole? No, I was pointing out that Woodward was allegedly preferring a player over one our manager wanted and in this case I would agree with our manager. But hey using a post to back up your narrative is ok, even if you get it wrong, again. Unless you think Woodwards transfer dealings are not an issue.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - OGS did not identify AWB. EW does not pick players.}

24 Apr 2019 19:00:41
Thanks Ed, I think the rumour wasn’t that OGS identified AWB but preferred him, I used the wrong word in the OP. Still whatever the drivers behind player purchases are, it needs to improve and if OGS will have little say we can only hope someone can get the right player.
