Happy if Di Maria goes.

It is the worst position for any club to have a player who does not wan to fight for the badge. Di Maria has not shown he is one the world's best. If you are, you perform week on week no matter what is happening in your personal life. £50m and reinvest in any player with less talent and better attitude will be a great business decision

Difficult to perform when you are sat on the bench every week

24 Jul 2015 22:09:05
Difficult to make it into the starting 11 when you give the ball away with every other touch.

Agree14 Disagree2

24 Jul 2015 22:11:11
Pep, but why was he sat on the bench? Because he was useless when he was played and Young was outperforming him.
The frustrating thing is that we all know he's much better than what he's shown. But if his attitude is poor then there's nothing the manager can do, it is up to the player to perform and be professional.

Agree6 Disagree1

24 Jul 2015 22:12:57
Difficult to get your starting spot back when you're absolute pants every time you come off the bench and are consistently outperformed by Ashley Young.

Agree7 Disagree1

24 Jul 2015 22:13:05
He played 38 games and started 20 of those stop blaming others because he can't perform in a physical league. Its ok you keep telling us how wonderful he was at rm but this is not la liga your stats are not well rounded and your argument is invalid. The guy never wanted to be here he was talking about psg in his first week.

Agree5 Disagree4

24 Jul 2015 22:36:31
Argument is invalid?!?! It's a discussion on a player not an argument. This site is meant for discussions between fans of the same team yet some numpties like whoatedepays want to argue their pig arrogant minds with fans of there own team! I don't see why you feel the need to have a go at some one elses point just because it's not in line with your opinion! It's easy hiding behind a computer and being a keyboard warrior tho heh

Agree5 Disagree3

24 Jul 2015 23:26:16
I would love to see ADM in the starting eleven and the new signings mean he would be seeing a lot more of the ball but (and i stress but)everything points to him not wanting to play in the premier league .A front three of Rooney Depay and Di Maria is as good as any world class team.I think it is hyped up by the press and all will be revealed in the next couple of days

Agree3 Disagree1

25 Jul 2015 00:03:37
There you go bfro lovely conversational post stating your opinion that doesn't offend anyone! Good lad. That is some front 3 and it baffles me why lvg doesn't want it when he can have it

Agree1 Disagree3

25 Jul 2015 07:23:21
Pepgiggs have you watched di maria over a period of a season, because if u have you would know he is no better than a bit more consistent and a bit better version of nani, i know many won't agree with this, but to me that's what he always was. He has his absolute worldclass moments but that's all they are. if u watch his games for madrid u will see he was always brilliant a minute Werthers Originals the net sort of player, much like nani was when he had rooney tevez and ronny around him, he was a mistake last season as he was never going to be good enough to carry a team on his own mate. If he stays he would be a lot better this season because team around him would be better, not because he suddenly got better or manager suddenly got better

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jul 2015 07:35:07
Enlighten us again Mr Pep. How exactly do you know that LVG doesn't want a front 3 of Roo, Depay and ADM?

What part of 'Di Maria wants out 'are you struggling with exactly ?

25 Jul 2015 08:36:24
Loko adm is going to psg to the delight of every one on here apart from me! So how can he want that front 3?

Common sense moyes ? Have u really justcompared adm to nani?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2015 10:38:52
yes pep i did, because that is what he is rather for your information that is what he always was, Adm is far more talented than nani but he is not anymore consistent than nani was and the funny part is nani was not the highest paid player at the club or bought for a british record fee.

Gazza -would of been a God its a shame what happened to him but i think SAF would of retired a lot sooner had Gazza signed for us .If he had signed we wouldn't of signed Roy Keane and maybe Scholes and Beckham may never of played in the first team. "Football bloody hell" 😆😆

Good question, I am not sure as we have been linked with so many players in the past but probably Mikel. I think he was very close to joining us but Chelski pinched him. Not that he was overly bad but wouldn't want him here.

Other way round maybe Sanchez of Arsenal would have liked him.

Interesting match tomorrow, seen a lot of posters last year saying the way he's had us playing will be good in Europe. The barca match may give us an indication as to how will play in champions league this season

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jul 2015 19:10:28
To be fair we played 3-5-2 against inter Roma and real last year and dropped that part way through the season, I think we will just play a few variants of 4-3-3 depending in who we play next season, probably 4-2-3-1 against the top teams for more defensive cover. I'm just looking for a bit of understanding between the new players coming in, and hopefully a bit more sharpness all round.

Ronaldo -this guy has played over 200 games in the past six seasons since he left us and scored more than 220 goals. He is probably with Messi the most fouled in La Liga .No way has he got dodgy knees he just couldn't play let alone score in that many games.Diaby at Arsenal has dodgy knees he has played 14 games in 6 years .If he is on the move and we don't have him back Citie and PSG will pounce and we will live to regret it.He looked ok again today and he didn't leave on a mobility scooter from what i saw .Its just not true😆😆

Believable5 Unbelievable1

24 Jul 2015 19:45:30

Everyone seems to be writing the bloke off he is a phenomenal athlete I would eat my own legs to have him back!

Agree1 Disagree1

25 Jul 2015 10:03:57
Search Marca Ronaldo knee and you should find an article in February about his left knee. Separately there are plenty of pictures with ice packs on it and in other articles the Portuguese doctor also outlined the issue Ronaldo had. It would be romantic to see him back, however I don't believe he will leave Madrid at this point plus the Premier league may test that knee too much.

Anyone else think LvG trying to replicate formation/tactics from Bayern Munich now he's got everything to his liking at OT?

For attacking wingers Robben and Ribery, read Depay and Pedro?

For Gustavo, Kroos and Schweinsteiger, read Schneiderlin, Herrera and, re, Schweinsteiger.

Either way, I think he has to achieve something more this year. He's got everything he wants, from training, pre-match rituals, preseason, etc, and got rid of deadwood.

Still needs CB, striker and Pedro though.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

24 Jul 2015 16:50:15
Think he prefers Depay through the middle Wallace. Either as Stiker or No. 10 Behind Rooney

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jul 2015 17:37:48
Perhaps you're right Harry - games so far do seem to suggest that. Young looking sharp on the left and maybe Mata on the right - though still prefer Pedro.

Be interesting to see starting 11 for Barcelona.

24 Jul 2015 16:26:12
How do you solve a problem like De Gea?

De Gea will leave UTD. Whether it be this summer or next, he will go because he wants to live with the one he loves, and be near his family. This is fine, and i am not going to hate him for it. Question is How and Who do we replace him with.

In my opinion, there are only 5 World Class keepers:

De Gea
Neuer
Courtios
Buffon
Cech

After these 5, there are keepers who are considered the 'very good' keepers:

Lopes (Lyon)
Sirigu (PSG)
Ter Stegen (Barca)
Cillessen (Ajax)
Sommer (Borussia Mönchengladbach)
Leno (Leverkusen)
Lloris (Tottenham)
Hart (Man City)
Navas (Real Madrid)
and the list goes on.

Bar maybe Jan Sommer all of these keepers play for top clubs in their respective leagues.

When we signed Schmeichel from Brondby or VdS from Fulham, we had no idea they would go on to become the World Class Keepers they went on to be. Notice also how neither of them came from 'top' clubs.

To put what i'm trying top say into perspective: I've seen Kasper Schmeichel, Tim Howard, Fraser Forster and dare i say it even Rob green play well consitantly for their clubs, and at a top level. Am i suggesting we sign one of those 3? Of course not. What i am saying is that we don't have to spend more than £10m on a keeper. A lot of the time, the club make the keeper. If Kasper Schmeichel was playing for us last season, and he pulled off some of the saves he did when he was playing for Leicester, then that's an extra £10m on his price tag. 100% guaranteed.

United will buy a replacement for DDG no doubt. When our defence is sorted (Later this summer hopefully) we won't be relying on our keeper so much. So we won't particularly need a keeper like DDG who will save us so many points. We will need a good shot stopper with good reflexes who can organise his defence. And here's the bit i'm trying to get across.

There are a lot of keepers in the world with these qualities. Many who may go un-noticed their whole careers, simply because of where they are playing. Add this to the fact Manchester United have one of the best Goalkeeping coaching teams in the world and you'll see that we can get a cheap DDG replacement, that isn't a big name.

How do people so easily brush Ronaldo aside because of his 'knees' but the demand Reus, who is just as, if not more injury prone? Its MADNESS!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

24 Jul 2015 16:31:37
Reus is 26, Ronaldo is 30, not sure anybody has brushed him off because of his knees, but he is on the downward spiral whereas Reus still has a few years left in his prime.

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Jul 2015 16:39:02
Its not his knees that bother me its the circus he will bring. I realise I am in the minority here but we need to look forward, not back.

Agree5 Disagree0

24 Jul 2015 17:06:21
Would take Ronaldo back any day . We will win the champions league and a title in the next three yrs with him guaranteed. That is return on investment right there. No ifs and buts. How can you say no to him or Messi.

24 Jul 2015 18:04:01
Absolutely agree with you Harry. I made a similar point below।

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Jul 2015 20:50:02
I thought the circus was Real Madrid?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jul 2015 13:43:24
Ok, I'll be the 1st to say it, I don't want Ronaldo back. He's now 30, his knees are apparently not great, but most importantly, his ego is ridiculous and it will be a circus.

If RM are prepared to let him go you would have to ask why. He was incredible for us but it's like going back to an old girlfriend, it's just never as good.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

24 Jul 2015 14:00:57
if I was van gaal, would save a lot of money and go for Reus od Dortmund, The lad is unplayable on his day and would of banged loads of goals at the world cup, there is time for improvement with him too with regards to his finishing. But if he gets his head down and works on it he will be future player of the year for sure.

Agree4 Disagree2

24 Jul 2015 15:10:50
I am not saying that we should go for Ronaldo becuase I agree he is an injury risk.

But I don't understand how people have agreed with AJH that we should not go for Ronaldo as his knees have gone but people have gone on to agree with boddey who has suggested Reus who is as much of an injury risk. I just hope those are 2 different set of people.

Agree0 Disagree2

24 Jul 2015 15:50:06
Boddey, Reus is very injury prone, a great player but never got his move, or proved everyone that he is world class because he spends months out with serious injuries.

Also what do you mean 'would of banged in loads of goals at the world cup'? how can u tell?

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jul 2015 16:16:18
Since when has Ronaldo had bad knees.I can't ever remember seeing him injured didn't he just score his biggest amount of goals last season.Any transfer fee is irrelevant to a club yerning success like ours.No way would Man Utd turn down Ronaldo if they were offered him.History is on our side Hughes , Sheringham, and even RVP all top players and arrived after peak years and all were successful .It would be the signing that all of football say MAN UTD ARE BACK

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Jul 2015 16:58:24
So you don't think Reus would of played and scored goals at the world cup? He would of bagged a fair few against brazil alone! He would of set the place on fire with his talent and just because some of you have love for the Circus act that is Ronaldo, a man who throws his toys out of the pram just because a player doesn't pass to him. If I have 150 mil, I no that I would keep 110 mil in my pocket and spend 40 mil getting reus in. Use the ret o the money on areas where man united need strenghing. Hummels for a start and then Varane. Anyway, you don't need Ronaldo you have the future in Depay!!

It was 1984 and remember Ron Atkinson was looking for a striker. I was desperate for Atkinson to sign Gary Lineker from Leicester and was apoplectic when he actually bought Alan Brazil. In fact sources at the time said Lineker turned up for talks to find Ron had gone on holiday. He signed Brazil and a year later Lineker went to Everton scored something like 42 goals and won everton the league. By then Brazil was moving on or about to and SAF would soon take over.
In the 90's I again found myself shouting about a young Brazilian at PSV I think, Ronaldo it was, but we bought Yorke. Did alright Yorkey but what if we had bought Ronaldo.
So what I hear you say?

Well thanks to the press the names are coming in Lorrente, Zlatan, Pedro, Benzema yet my head is screaming Lewandowski and I just hope we make the right choice this time because I don't want to ask what if again

Believable11 Unbelievable1

24 Jul 2015 13:41:21
Linekar joined Everton in 1985 and they finished second in the league, they were also runners up in the FA cup where big ears scored the opening goal. He than left for Spain after one season.

Remember when we didn't sign Ronaldinho? The most exciting player around and football legend? The we decided to sign some unheard of 17 year old from Portugal. That didn't turn out too bad.

Football has its moments like this we just need to be thankful for the players we have had and have signed. Depay will be the player that will make us not regret signing Bale.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Jul 2015 13:36:07
Yorkey 'did alright'? We won the Treble in the year we signed him and his partnership with Andy Cole was one of the best things I have seen at Old Trafford.

I understand your point but not sure Yorke is the best example here.

Cman

You are Correct, Everton didn't win the league with him in 85-86 although after Ron ignored him in 84 he finished the leagues top goalscorer then the next season scored 30 goals in 41 games. But what if he had signed for us ?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jul 2015 14:31:34
I don't want to lose the point about Lewandowski however I stand by the Yorke comment and am not criticising him. My thoughts are that Yorkie was a top player who formed a great partnership with Cole but Ronaldo the Brazilian carried on at a higher level than Yorke for some time. That Ronaldo was an all time great of the game.
We just need to make good decisions now and to ignore someone like Lewandowski would, in my opinion be a mistake of high proportions

Honestly not that fussed about him, i think a big deal is made about him more due to his personality than ability, drifts in and out of games and only ever once in his career played in a challenging league and he didn't like the competition for places.

We don't want players who think they're bigger than the club and he thinks he's bigger than every club. Steer clear, we're no final swan song.

Hi any EDS free to say if there are any updates on the potential sale of Evans and Rafael.
I was also interested to see that young has no extension signed and do you know if there is an offer to extend by the club or if an offer will be made to extend his contract? Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Like every other club in the world Utd are finding it hard to get shot of the $hite in the squad like Evans and Rafael. The last I heard was Ashley Young would be lucky to get Utd to go guarantor for a big TV never mind offering him a new deal. There were murmurs of Villa being interested but I don't think they're quite THAT desperate yet.
I know someone who said Rafael would be the best RB in the world.}

I totally agree that they both should be leaving. Young had a good season but at the rate we are looking to purchase top class players he will be replaced soon enough but will stay for the season - I could see him being replaced by Pedro and then Di Maria being replaced by a really top name.

I think the issue was your phraseology given you are a United fan. Bond can say what he lIkes as he is not a United fan.

Youre right mate i'm a utd fan but i'm sure i'm not the only one to speak negative about a utd player ie kleberson djemba djemba bellion taibi etc etc the difference is I don't pick and choose which ones its ok to do it with and bash others for not complying with these unwritten rules

Ronaldo and Benitez not going to work. I said it when he got the job and something will give. All is not well at Real even though Perez would have us believe otherwise.

Benitez will make sure Ronaldo is at his side. He knows he is dealing with a big ego but he needs him. Its all part of the job at the end of the day for them. They are professionals. We fans get too emotional about things. I think things like that happen all the time everywhere. Everything does not get caught in cam!
