We certainly learnt some things today. We need a creative midfielder as Anderson and Scottish created nothing. That Owen is not good enough at premiership level. That some officials believe that by not giving decisions to United they will somehow be seen as stronger. That as soon as United drop points Blaire Maine appears not mentioning the fact that King Kenny has spent 100 million and made a disastrous start that if Roy had made he would have been crucified for. Jones seemed to be the only one who wanted to get forward and at them. That Nani still plays for himself rather than the team (did you see the look Fergie gave him)/ Wellbeck came on and made not one bit of difference. RAINFISHTROMBONE {Ed007's Note - Jones has REALLY impressed me RFT. I knew he was a good player at Blackburn but I didn't realise how good.}

Decent point today, especially with the injuries. I'm not too worried about the creativity issue, Stoke is hard place for anyone to go and look silky and free-flowing but I thought we battled quite well which was important.

Positive point I have taken from the game:

1. An under-strength United side go where many decent sides have got nothing and earn a hard fought point.

2. David De Gea made some important, world-class saves in what is easily his toughest game in a United shirt so far. Also looked more composed as the game went on.

3. Phil Jones, if he continues to progress as he has, could in a few years time be United captain, England captain, and one of the best defenders (/midfielders/wherever the heck you want to play him) in the entire world.

If I were to take a negative view of the game I suppose it would be the same old debate crop up about central midfield. My personal opinion is that I don't mind so much that we didn't sign a world-class big name in the summer and am more than happy for Ando and Clevs to be our starting 11 pairing BUT, I do feel that when one or both of them is injured we lack a little something. Someone like Ross Barkley would have been ideal. That being said if Pogba gets more of alook-in I'm intrigued to see him step up.

just seen the Hernandez "tackle" again on MOTD and from there angle it's clear that Woodgate didn't get a touch on the ball and pushed Hernandez long before he put his foot in for the tackle, in hindsight it should have been a penalty, but win some lose some. I expect all fans of other clubs to over look this and just say were moaning again about decisions going against us but will have convieniantly forgotten about it next time we get a lucky decision. As i've always said you win some and you lose some and all the decisions even themselves out in the end.

That was actually Chuck Norris, Bond ;)

Not a bad result away at Stoke today, but I feel there should be some concern to the lack of creativity without Rooney. Stoke really did look a solid side though.

A draw was probably a fair result. Stoke did what they do best, and fair play to them. A point at the Brittania is by no means a bad point, although I'm sure a few of you, like myself, are disappointed at not coming away with all three after going 1-0 up. But the game needs to be put into context: Rooney, Cleverley, Smalling and Vidic would all have started this game had they been available. Can't forget that Hernandez only got 5 minutes as well. As soon as he was brought off, the Stoke defence pushed 15 yards higher up the pitch which made a tough game even tougher.

De Gea had his best game in a United shirt, that first save in particular was stunning. He'll only get better once Vidic returns (hopefully soon!). The midfield was flat today. All in all, I'm not too disappointed. Still unbeaten. Still top of the table.

6 things i took from your game today, here they are

A) We absolutely destroyed Stoke BUT still got beat. Stoke were more than able to cope with what you threw at them. My point being, we are not as bad as you make out AND you are not as good, as you make out.

B) Ferdinand is finished.

C) Bebanob is deffinitely one of the biggest wastes of money EVER.

D) Valencia will never be the same player ever again after his injury (which i have sympathy with him)

E) Phil jones is not nowhere good enough in the air, to be a commanding CB. Which was shown time and time again, against Crouch.

F) ANDERSON IS ONE OF THE WORSE MIDFIELDERS EVER, TO PLAY IN THE PL. But don't worry you've still got Carrick. lol

I would like to hear opinions, especially from Sydney/Spoof/Uncle Malcolm, Matthew, Shappy, HERBIE.

Cheers

everyone was expecting de gea to have his worse match against stoke at their ground and he has possibly his best game. the back 4 have been gd but it has been changing almost every game and he still is able to settle in. still looked weak in the middle of the park fletcher was able to break up alot of stokes attacks and covered for evra at the end but anderson is the major disappointment. he has obvious talent but is so inconsistent over 90mins. he has until january or might be given the season but if he doesnt become a top player we will surely go and get a top midfielder.

dont want to be too negative about the result today , stoke is a hard place to go to but there are 2 worrying points
1. that looked like a lot of our away performances last year.
2. the creative quality in the middle of the park still doesn't look great and i think this is highlighted when rooney is out.

are clevs anderson fletch carrick good enough or should we break the bank for a goatze sneijder etc..
some times you learn more about your team when you don't play well , how much of a difference could a player like sneijder off made today in the last third off the pitch .
have we got someone creative enough to step in when rooney is missing.

taking everything into consideration i don't think that was an unfair result. Stoke are a good team and the Britannia is something of a fortress for them. We had our best player of the season so far out and struggled without him pulling the strings in attack. Defensively we were solid enough, Jones' little lapse with Crouch needs to be put into context, Jones is 19 and is still learning and Crouch is an experianced england international, i'm quite certain that from now on Jones will be more cautious of players pulling off behind him. Other than theat our defence did well, De Gea had a great game, He's still adjusting to the premier league and over the next 12 months will bulk up to give him more strength when coming out off his line. Our Attack wasn't quite as in sync as it normally is but without Rooney pulling the strings it wasn't ever gonna be, also we were unlucky to lose Hernandez early on. But Welbeck looked good when he came on. Our wingers are so good and caused countless problems, Nani is really tuning into a world class performer in his own right, i feel it's only fair that we drop the Ronaldo comparisions as it's so unfair on Nani who i feel is a far better team player than Ronaldo has ever been, just look at their assits record to see what i mean, also i think his left foot shooting is better too(i know the irony in what i've just done. lol).
The problem today was our midfield, now Anderson was good as was Fletcher as indivduals but as a midfield pair i felt that they didn't do as well as i would hope they would do. Fletcher is good running forward with the ball and at shielding the back four but his movement is poor thus limiting the options for Anderson, this is why we need Cleverley back soon-ish. His off the ball movement means he's always available to pass to. I still think we need someone else in midfield as i don't think Pogba is ready just yet. I'm abit split as to what type of midfielder we need whether it's a solid protect the back four type player or an attacking midfielder. What we need is a solid no messing tackler who always looks for the ball and has good movement. Now funnily enough i feel we have exactly the right kind of player in our Youth set up his name is Ryan Tunnicliffe. Could his loan to peterbourgh until Christmas be to get him ready for some first team football? i hope so.
So were top of the table again and still unbeaten let us look back on this game as a lession to some of our new and younger players on what it's like to come up against a team like Stoke and lets take the positives out of the game.

why did we go with 2 strikers up top today?

anderson looks lost without someone there with him, fletch drops deep so anderson just gets stranded.

Soooooooo....... A few days back I made a comment on Owen Hargreaves calling him Judas for moving to City. This is a man who said he wants to get back to playing football (fair play to him) but do you think he will get much play time at City (who could really field 2 maybe 3 teams)?? I don't. Apparantly on a basic £20k a week with add ons. If he wants to play football who feels he would've been better going to WBA (he would get a lot more games at this club).

Danny Pughnited called me a tool and pathetic, 89 Boy Wonder was dissapointed in my childish behaviour, I respect peoples opinions but not name calling.

Now a lot more people are voicing opinions shooting OH down for his comments, and rightfully so, I stand by my comment when I called him 'JUDAS' even more so now.

I think its great that Man City have become our main competition.
Thay are good, theres no denying it.
Every Man Utd and Man City supporter from Mnachester should be proud that the top two clubs in the country are from Manchester.
Plus it makes our boys more determined to make sure that Man City don't beat us and its going to be much more enjoyable when we win the Prem ahead of Man City.

In my opinion the only way we will beat Barcelona in the Champions League is if we bring in a mixture of any of the following players :
Eden Hazard
Ganso
Mario Gotze
Neymar
Christian Eriksen

Does anyone agree with me?
Also, I am a Man Utd supporter if ye want to know, its just that Barcelona have pulled away from us in recent years. When you look at their team, they have amazingly talented players in Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Sanchez, Fabregas etc, and when you look at our team you can't really consider anyone to be that standard except Rooney and maybe Young and Chicharito.
The players I've listed, I personally think they are the same standard as Barcelona's players and think that buying some of them will bring us on par or even push us ahead of Barcelona.

Feel free to mention anyone you think will help us catch Barcelona and say which of those players you would choose to buy.

Thanks and please post this ed, I know its long so sorry. :)
