Just a quick question hoping someone can answer. Why do premier league players not have buyout fees like it seems every player in Spain has?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - It's part of the rules in Spain.}

26 Jun 2015 09:00:20
Thanks ed007 I think it's a rule that gives them a great bargaining chip when comes to getting good deals for their players

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 21:23:19
I have to say I hope we don't get lured in and chase the impossible signings this summer, missing out on plenty of lesser players who can improve us rapidly. Can't help but think once again our clubs being used by the likes of Ramos and Schweiny to get new contracts and happens regularly these days. I just hope we don't pursue these if there is no chance and therefore miss out on other players or leave it late for more panic buying. There are players that we could target such as otamendi / godin / Miranda for defence, and naingollan / Schneiderlin / Vidal, who I feel would be much easier to sign. Let's get them in and get a good pre season under our belts. I think we should of moved for Cech at £10m he is a steal. Personally I would love us to go all out for Bale, I think he would make such an impact for us. So i'd be happy to go for the cheaper options in say Miranda and Schneiderlin, and then Go all out for bale.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

25 Jun 2015 21:45:50
You don't want to get lured into going for the impossible players but you want us to go all out for bale?

Agree5 Disagree6

25 Jun 2015 22:56:17
Is bale impossible? The real fans love Ramos, the captain, 10 years service , they hate bale. Boo him, lynch him after games etc. I think bale would be easier than Ramos

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 22:58:25
My point being we could spend weeks on end trying to sign Ramos and failing when we could of taken another, same with Schneiderlin, we know he is available, get them wrapped up then try the marquee signing, if it doesn't come of so be it. But pursue the likes a Ramos for weeks on end and fail, may be too late as other have moved on. We can't miss out this summer.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 01:35:08
I agree with what Stand is saying. Bale for me is much more feasible than Ramos when you add up all the variables of each potential transfer. I still think we will make a pitch for Bale also.

GDS2 do you ever walk on your own two legs at all these days? Almost every time I see you post you seem to be on someones back at the moment.

Agree1 Disagree1

26 Jun 2015 08:06:44
JMB,

Then you obviously haven't been concentrating, I've got involved in all sorts of discussions just like yourself, it is not 'getting on someone's back' to question their opinion that is what this site is about. Sometimes think you need to strap a pair on.

Agree3 Disagree4

25 Jun 2015 20:40:22
Ramos, if it happens (which I doubt) would be a very good signing.

But every time I've ever watched him, I've always been left thinking, 'what a souness'.

Just me?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

25 Jun 2015 20:58:34
Nothing wrong with Souness - until he slowed down.
Patarico

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Apart from him being a (swear) !

25 Jun 2015 21:21:24
Lol, me too. I'm guess it's been 'auto corrected' but yes he can come across as a big girls blouse.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It was more a replaced synonym than an auto-correct.}

25 Jun 2015 21:33:47
Nice edit, Eds. Perfect synonym :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - See, just as I said :=o

25 Jun 2015 22:21:20
I think he's a top top player that would improve us no end.

I'm not getting to carried away with the rumours simply because I still thinks he's using our interest as leverage.
Although I have read he has fallen out with Perez so maybe a deal can be done.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 22:36:53
So you're saying you wouldn't want a 24 year old Souness in your side?
Patarico

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I didn't say that but seeing you brought it up, no.}

26 Jun 2015 01:36:55
Ed007 your biased opinion here is really scary. He is no Lubo that's for sure!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If you think that's scary you should see me naked! It would kill your self confidence in a heartbeat, you'd probably feel that less of a man you'd ask your mum to start buying you cotton panties and call you Geraldine.
Never forget that hatred is a very underestimated emotion.}

26 Jun 2015 02:35:21
He is a top player. I'm just saying I've never warmed to him - too much gamesmanship for my liking. I'd still have him here.

I just think he's a bit of a 'Souness' :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Only an absolute Souness would sell a story to The S*n considering their history, and that's not me even starting about Souness the Souness and David Murray, another complete Souness, and what they done to Scottish football.}

26 Jun 2015 02:46:14
Or I could potentially choke gasping for air from laughter looking at the sight before me which seems more probable. Never forget hatred is an emotion which clouds judgement and can make you look very silly at times.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - My misanthropy masks my hatred and my sociopathy surpasses it. Have you ever discussed your penchant for autoerotic asphyxiation with a professional phycologist? I can give you a load of numbers, I've been through a few over the years but I think it's related to a trauma during your birth.
If you're interested Ed001 mentioned whips etc on the Liverpool page earlier.}

26 Jun 2015 04:48:53
Alas Ed007 I do not think a Psychologist could sort out my many, many, many issues nor could I afford his fee's, but if that's what works for you then each to their own. You should ask one of your 'few' psycholologic advisors if they can help you with your inability to stop talking waffles.

Souness was an incredible player. One of the best, if not the best of his generation.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Now you're just being silly. You do know who Souness is don't you? Try Google.

26 Jun 2015 05:24:08
Slow night, Bond? :)

In Spain now and Madrid fans love Ramos cannot see him leaving.l beleive all our deals are in place already and will be announced next week, LVG wants new players on the tour.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

25 Jun 2015 19:06:13
Why would we be interested in signing Carlos Bacca? I'd rather have Wilson in there!

Believable1 Unbelievable4

25 Jun 2015 19:36:30
Definitely LVG got to give Wilson a go and Henriquez if he's still with us especially Wilson the boys got everything to be a top striker IMO

Agree4 Disagree4

25 Jun 2015 20:33:20
Bacca is a really good player. I wouldn't be surprised if we looked at him.

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Jun 2015 21:36:35
Wilson will have the same problem as Januzaj in that they are both currently too slight. They don't yet have the physicality to perform in the premiership. I would like to see they both loaned to a Dutch team for a season and then brought back into the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 08:47:38
De Hond en Eend, perhaps Huggy?

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 18:09:19
Like a good mystery movie, at the end of a transfer window, i wish the clubs would reveal all the players they were actually interested in. It would be so much fun.

Anyways, that's clyne gone too i guess. Not a lot of rbs remaining that we can buy. Janmaat looks interesting to me. Above all i hope we buy two cms.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

25 Jun 2015 19:07:32
Yes it was professor Woodward after bale with the candlestick

Agree5 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 21:27:44
Janmaat is a good call.

Agree1 Disagree1

26 Jun 2015 01:03:37
I must admit I hadn't seen much of Janmaat before the last world cup, and although during the world cup he was impressive, he has been poor since as far as I'm concerned. Obviously playing in a terrible Newcastle team can't help, but I simply don't think he is good enough for United. As much as Clyne isn't a world beater, I think he's twice the player Janmaat is, and I would love it if we stole him from Liverpool's grasp at the very last second. Other than that Darmian, Coleman, or Carvajal would all be great but I don't think we have much chance of signing any of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 10:32:02
Can just imagine Ed Woodward saying 'I i would have got away with Ramos, If it wasn't for you meddling kids!'

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 17:42:37
Now you all know I'm not a drama queen, the world is about to end kind of guy. But I'm not convinced Ed is on the case. look at last year, Hererra was signed but the deal was probably already in place. Falcao was a last minute risk loan and Di Maria was the big name but not necessarily what we needed. The best signing for me was Shaw although fitness and injuries caused havoc with his season.

So to this year, we are all hoping there is a master plan. Depay is a great start but we all know that RB, CB and CM are priorities.

The press throw names around like confetti, there's a pic doing the rounds of our new formats if we sign all the players we are linked with and I think we have 30 players on the pitch. So we don't really know who we are serious about and who we are not. If we have bid for Ramos after hearing he was unhappy that doesn't auger well for a well thought through plan. I think Ramos would be brilliant but the knee jerk reaction of a bid following his outburst is not great, unless he is a second CB signing.

I really do hope LVG knows who he wants and Ed is on the case. Can't say I'm convinced though

Believable9 Unbelievable2

25 Jun 2015 18:54:34
Totally agree seriously don't think this guy knows what he's doing when it comes down to transfers he's paying well over the odds for very good players mata shaw Rojo di Maria Herrera feilleni none of these are world class and the boards gonae trust him with another 150 million buying clubs just see him coming and another zero on to the asking price LVG not much better just think if we got klopp in guarantee he would get hummels Gundogan and reus there's the spine of your team right there and he plays football the way it should be played

Agree0 Disagree4

25 Jun 2015 20:01:02
I think it's only natural to feel like we are being left behind when our rivals are making signings mate.

But try to remember the transfer window ain't even open yet lol.

Im sure targets have been identified but the players we are after are not exactly being hawked around for transfer are they? Negotiations will always take time to get done.
I myself today felt a little envious that Liverpool have made yet another signing, but they need to just to catch up and the signings bar Clyne & firmino (only due to not knowing much about him) have been pretty dour tbh. Ings is decent but that is as far as it goes, Milner and Bogdan hardly scare me either tbh.

Arsenal have seemingly got Cech, a really good piece of business (if he doesn't do a Cudicini) but as of yet that is all.

Chelsea, the champions have yet to really make a statement as have city too.

The top clubs will always take there time as we have shown our squad is capable of 4th without signings so the next step is too get the right players in to go up the table. We have Depay already, a talent wanted by many but we got him.
Next it seems defence will be bolstered, but do we want to go out and sign anyone just because we need to get 1 in or do we take our time and get the right one in that will take us up a level.

It's a lot easier to get an out of contract Milner than it is to get a top player like Otamendi or Ramos.
If it means waiting a few weeks to get the players we want I'm happy with that.

Let Liverpool blow there load now, once they are done they will have to sit back and watch us sign top players.

25 Jun 2015 16:58:38
The odds have just been slashed on Schneiderlin to Arsenal? Apparently we will bid, but Arsenal are now favourites? Looks like it's Krychowsiak from Sevilla?? (Or the wild card, Youri Tielemans) haha! So want/needed Schneiderlin!!!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

25 Jun 2015 17:48:28
I think Arsenal will get Schneiderlin, they've been in for him for about 4 years now. I think we will get Schweinsteiger personally, Krychowiak would be another very good option though.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 18:02:01
Lol, on the Arsenal page they are suggesting the deal is now off. one of them is also doing a grand job of hacking off ED002

Well the papers are saying it's us who are signing schneiderlin I really hope this is true

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 16:45:10
This all feels a little bit like deja vu. Around this time last year, Liverpool were out there spending freely, and everyone was talking about how great they were going to be. Fast forward a year, and we already have a few Liverpool fans on here talking about how great they are going to be next season. But are they not repeating the same mistake they made last season? They are bringing in a number of players who will expect to be in the first team. And look what happened last season as a consequence of bringing in so many players in one go: They had a nightmare in the first half of the season. What makes Brenda think it will be different this time around?

Believable4 Unbelievable1

25 Jun 2015 17:59:13
it will end the same as last season not in the top 4 they might of signed a number of players but for me they ain't the quality to get them back in the top 4 they are good players but not top quality you need to get in the top 4

Agree2 Disagree1

25 Jun 2015 18:00:58
The club is signing too many players and I cannot see a light of hope for the younger prospects . Our biggest weakness after Rodgers is the defence beginning with mignolet and we have failed epically to replace him this summer instead a championship keeper is competing with him. That decision will come back to hurt us and is idiotic . How do you rectify a defence that has no confidence in the keeper and does not communicate As well as not being good enough.
Arsenal have made the signing of the window in cech. He was my first choice but never on the cards for us. Would also have been a fantastic replacement for united should de gea leave. Cech is top class, vast experience and is a proven winner.
I will comment on each player we have signed when our spending is finished.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 16:17:37
I am not convinced the Ramos rumours will amount to anything. Ignoring that However, my question is around his disciplinary record.
Wold he be a liability waiting to happen or would his record improve in PL where tougher defending is tolerated more

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Jun 2015 16:57:07
I'm not bothered about disciplinary records to be honest. We could do with a bit of aggression and if he misses 3-4 games through suspension, it's only the same as tweaking a hamstring or having a far off Intl Friendly or two the week before.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 17:06:22
Agree with you there Beast , we badly need that bit of aggression and nastiness in the team

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 17:30:33
He wouldn't get half as many red cards in England as he does in Spain.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 17:43:27
I think he would make a huge impact. He is a big character, a leader, and above all a damn good player.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 18:06:51
Indeed, we do lack leaders. 😕

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 20:28:08
I agree Beast, however I want more Than anything to have a settled solid CB pair next year. This benefited Chelsea and ourselves a few years back.
Nate, that was my thinking so i am trying to ignore the record just wondered others views.
If we Could get Ramos (still doubtful) and Otemandi we would be solid atime the back with a lot of passion and aggression. Wishful thinking

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 16:01:23
so because Clyne has signed for a rival, he suddenly becomes a bad player and none of you rated him anyway?

There are a few possible exceptions, but the majority of you are just embarrassing trying to save face and pretend you never wanted him anyway.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

25 Jun 2015 16:26:22
If we, as a club, had wanted him, we would have bid for him LR, obviously LVG doesn't rate him as highly as other players out there. Not seen enough of him to comment in detail, but I'll go with what the ed said a few weeks ago, about him not being as good as the Southampton backline and midfield make him look. If he is as good as Glen Johnson, then you'll be ok.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 16:30:31
@leicester red, i would of had him tbf, i think he's a decent RB and you've got yourself another english player for a good price as you seem to always do. also i'm from Leicester too, where abouts in Leicester do you live ?

And apologies Bfro, all you seem to talk about on these pages are Liverpool so I got confused.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 17:14:30
I like janmat tbh, he impressed me in the world cup and in his first season at Newcastle. If the price is right I'd have him.

I also rate Clyne but must admitto only watching him a handful of times thou.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 17:42:40
Sound. I'm from new parks.
I would of had Clyne and firminio (spelling) not so sure on Ings though tbh, I think you need someone a bit better upfront unless you're going to play firminio up there. Also thought you would of moved for a goalkeeper

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 17:44:33
To be fair he has a point. Many of here were singing Clyne's praises and it was being discussed as a done deal. Now it's not, there's a different tune being played.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 17:50:17
LOL

It is interesting to see we have made no moves for anyone we have been linked with. I am not too fussed about guys like firmino as with the exception of a top striker we are stacked in the offensive side of the pitch and it is a challenge on who plays when everyone is healthy and always debatable and discussion and disagreement.

On the defensive front is where we need additions and a right back, CB and a holding midfielder is a must in my opinion. A right winger if we want to be spoiled.

I have maintained we are after bigger fish but with it comes the risk of not getting them and the Ramos rumours of an April meeting seem to have confirmed that.

I wonder if we are about to see some names no one believed were possible, including the likes of Ramos off course. I think Verrati must be a target given our appetite for going after names that seem off limit.

Looks like Liverpool are banking on a big transfer from Sterling to pay for all their purchases. I think they have definitely improved their squad as Clyne is very good defensively.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 17:55:13
I do rate clyne i think his a good player and is a improvement on glen Johnson even tho that ain't saying much I just think we can do a lot better than him at rb for me Coleman would be a dream but would be hard to get

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 19:03:05
Coleman would be great but doubtful, but then again who knows its the funny season:)

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 20:38:22
I thought Clyne was guaranteed, assume the scouting team have doubts. I can't see Rafael staying unless Lvg put him on a long term plan from last year and wrote off the season. stranger things have happened.
Coleman would be great, don't know the Monaco player enough and Janmaat I think would be a good addition.
Whoever I just don't want to see Jones at Rb or Valences as first choice.

What made me laugh the most about lfc post earlier is that the replies all came in almost like rapid fire every poster hitting lfc one after the other some with anger most with humour. What it shows is that we are all bored at work or can't stand lfc .I THINK BOTH

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Jun 2015 15:56:27
Both!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 16:02:54
It's always a laugh when lfc comes over to tell us how amazing Liverpool are. They could sign Messi, Ronaldo, Neuer and Pogba but they still wouldn't win anything because they have Brenda in charge.

Can't wait to see Clyne up front with Skrtel playing off him and Milner playing as sweeper in a new, revolutionary 1132111 formation.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 16:16:02
tbh it happens every year, some load mouth lfc fan comes on stating its there year.

its comical.

they seem to be spending the sterling money fast, it would be funny if they didn't sell him.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 18:08:35
Don't understand why people don't rate Milner, he is a great signing

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 01:14:23
He's a good signing Patzi but he isn't exactly a regular match-winner. Also I have no idea where he fits in. If he plays centre mid, then they will need to play a 3 man midfield since a midfield 2 of Henderson and Milner would be incredibly open, so they would only be able to play 2 of Lallana, Coutinho, and Firmino behind Sturridge, and that's assuming Sterling leaves. Even if Milner plays in one of 3 attacking midfield spots, then they still have to drop one of Lallana, Coutinho, or Firmino, and I imagine the latter of those 2 Brazilian will be pointing to his contract if that happens. And if any Liverpool fan shouts rotation, well then what are Markovic and Origi for then?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 14:56:04
Well, if Clyne stories are true then I'm starting to feel little bit worried. So, what's our next RB target ? Liverpool as it seems are trying to buy hole new 11 players. Maybe we'll end up with some dutch RB ?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

25 Jun 2015 15:48:47
Liverpool aren't doing too badly this window. They have moved on from the likes of Aspas and will have a decent team if they get Clyne and add to what they already have. They still won't have as good a squad as we will by the end of the window nor will they have as good a manager.

I think we will move for someone like Van der Wiel.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 17:37:00

25 Jun 2015 15:07:18
Ed how do you rate Liverpools signings so far, LFC has messed his undies already by the sound of it! An honest view would be nice, not a this is our year view.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is mixed in my opinion. Too many signings, by now the team should be settled and only need three or four signings, not all the ones being made. Also I am bothered that the main problem, the goalkeeper, has not been dealt with.}

25 Jun 2015 16:08:23
Ha ha, I would you know Ed but I seem to be out of questions, sorry about that. Besides it'll probably come true ha. Your more than welcome to talk about Evans and Jones tho.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 13:05:03
afernoon all,
liverpool are back, just look at some of the signings we are making, i think at least 6 of our players would walk right into the utd first team,
sturidge
firmino
coutinho
can
clyne
kovacic
and we will add bacca or the like up front, this season can't start quick enough, i feel as high as lvg forehead, lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

25 Jun 2015 14:58:28
Before a single ball is kicked, a Liverpool fan is declaring that they are back. Even including Kovacic for some reason. But never mind Rodgers will soon have Firmino playing as a wing back, Milner as a striker, and Clyne as a deep lying playmaker.

Next season will be your season, I can just feel it.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 14:59:11
Good luck.
"Next year is ours-" which don't come. agree with firmino signing. But rest. we shall see.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 14:46:18
Awh, well this is cute.

Sturridge* spelt correctly is not better than Rooney, so with one up front i don't think he would. i wouldn't have him in the reserves either, might block Jame Wilsons Progression ;-)

Can is laughable, Kovacic i don't even know who he is and same with Bacca as with Sturridge.

Clyne is a good player, you robbed us. See what i did there?

Agree2 Disagree1

25 Jun 2015 14:51:32
sturridge - gets injured putting his socks on.

firmino - i bet you hadn't heard of him until liverpool's interest, and he missis open nets so no worry there.

coutinho - apparently had a mint season, still had less goals and assists than di maria, who was injured and was on the bench most games.

can - was probably the only player from last season that looked half decent and then was played in defence, top managing by brendan.

clyne - i'm glad your going to buy him, not a great defender, and ed001 has had a few discussions regarding his defensive capabilities.

as for the other 2 one looks like a hobo ready to start a bum fight for some change and neither would get into our reserves nevermind the starting 11.

im glad your feeling high, it means a bigger fall when the inevitable happens and you're fighting for mid table, your first game is a big one, a contender for 10th place against stoke, and we all know what happened there :)

be sure to come on here before the start of the season and let's compare transfers then.

Haha oh dear, sorry to bring you back down to Earth,

I'm surprised you didn't have Milner on that last, Sturridge walk into our team, you would be lucky if Sturridge can walk before November never mind walk into our team!

I was over on your page earlier and noticed an ed mentioned you probably aren't going to sign Bacca or Kovacic so scratch them off. If we wanted Clyne or Firmino we probably would have offered for them, and I presume you mean Emre Can as I can't think of anybody else called Can but surely not. He can't even get into your team in his natural position.

Given me a laugh though mate as always, I would rather we take a bit of time and buy the players we need than stock up on positions we already have. You have Balotelli, Lambert, Borini, Ings, Origi and sicknote Sturridge and you only play with one striker, why are you stock piling them? You are now saying you want Bacca, and still linked to Benteke while your centre halves and goalkeeper are dreadful. Great policy as always.

If the season started with the players we have now I would expect United to finish above you, but your recruitment is coming to an end and ours is just starting.

Can't tell if you're being serious or not, but if you are:
Sturridge: can't get very far unless he's on crutches
Firmino: looks a talented lad, we'll wait and see on him
Coutinho: turns up for the last 10 games of the season and still gets less goals and assists than di maria who was awful, overrated is an understatement
Can: seriously?
You haven't even signed kovacic but I'd put him in the same bracket as firmino
Have you got over missing out on Depay yet?

I missed out Clyne: he's pretty average, just looks good because of how good southamptons defensive unit is, he'll be a lot more exposed playing for liverpool. He's an improvement on Glenn Johnson but that isn't saying much really is it.

I suggest people google the Liverpool boom and bust cycle, it explains everything you need to know.

I fancy a long post about everything transfer related, so here it goes.

It makes sense to start at the base of the team, the Goalkeeper. The goalkeeper situation was always going to be one that was a main topic this summer. Recent reports, and a quick glance on the right move website will tell you that DDG's home (apparently) is on the market. £2.5m if anyone on here is that wealthy ;-). This is just more evidence pointing to the inevitable that he is leaving. Now that was obvious information that we all knew.

Rumours pop out of thin air nowadays with increased social media use, and a need for information. If someone on Twitter thinks they can get 'more followers' they they will tweet rubbish and pretend to be in the know (ITK). This is very relevant in the case of a swap deal with Real Madrid. Swap deals very very rarely go on in the world of football, so to see one involving two world class players would be very odd and very unlikely. DDG will go to Real and they have more control of the price unfortunately, with DDG being in his last year on contract and all that. Lloris is strongly reported to be leaving Spurs and has a 'gentlemans agreement' with Levy about leaving, whatever that means. He would be my ideal replacement but again, Tottenham will need to
replace him and nothing has been reported on that front, so might be a long one with regards to Lloris. Other keeps linked heavily are Cillessen & Cech. Cech has basically signed for Arsenal and wanted to stay in London so that is a no go. Cillessen has links with LvG so is more likely but i don't see it happening.

To the Center Back problem. The summer started with an apparent 'Done Deal' for Hummels. Everyone was reporting it and saying personal terms had been agreed. This has now gone off the boil for the simple reason that other defenders have been mentioned. Newspapers and Social media alike are rife with 'rumours' that will chop and change depending on what will sell more copys. Otamendi was next, with Rojo favoriting tweets about him joining, but why wouldn't he? Otamendi is his mate clearly and if somebody links your team going for your mate, it is something that will exicte and interest you. Hence why he favorited it. He is not ITK nor does he have a hand in transfers so i don't see why this made headlines. Otamendi was one of, if not the best defensive performer in La Liga last season, and it is common knowledge that we need a CB. The two go hand in hand, and with Otamendi himself saying he wants to leave then i can see a deal going on. This brings us to Ramos. Sergio Ramos is clearly unhappy that he isn't a top earner yet is a top player for RM. Perez runs that place like a business and with Ramos not being as marketable as say, Ronaldo or Bale then Perez will not give him that top wage. Someone (Dont remember who) came out and said that Di Maria was sold because he didn't fit the 'look' of RM, as in he wasnt attractive enonugh. To be completely honest it sounds ridiculous, but i wouldn't be surprised at all if it was true. Same with Ozil.

Ramos will not be done in a swap deal, simple as. He may join United but as a world class CB he will not want to be used as some sort of bait on the end of a rod. I'm not going to rule it out but i'm not going say its happening. Sadly that is the 'fun' with the transfer rumours, no-body knows. If its true he wants to leave then he will. Utd? Probably.

To right back now. It has all gone very quiet (Usually does before we sign someone, so don't give up all hope). Clyne seems Pool bound and there are a lack of other options. Coleman would cost a lot and i'm not sure of any genuine interest or talks. Alves signed a new contract. Darmian and De sciglio are worth a look i suppose but i'm a purely speculating.

No. 6 position is the one position we know that LvG wants to strengthen. Many rumours circulating about Schneiderlin, how Arsenal will bid, we will bid, etc etc. It is obvious that Morgan wants to leave for CL football, it is all now down to who will stump up the most money for Soton and for Morgans wages that will get him. Dangerous game to play with us Arsenal. Schweinstiger is one that get mentioned loads and a bloody good player he is. Hope he come for an amount nearing £10m . LvG has worked with him before and helped him move from RM to CM. So it's obvious that Bastian trusts LvG, and where better to spend your last few years than in sunny Manchester ;-). Personally i see us getting Schweinstiger. Last point on the No.6 fiasco and its more of a not to Ed Woodward and Louis Van Gaal. Can you guys please stop looking at players that are hard to spell! It makes it incredibly hard for us posters and opens us up to ridicule.

I will couple the rest of the positions in this last paragraph as there isn't much to say.

Other CM's linked are very loosely linked, your, Pogba's, Nainggolan's, Vidal's, Gundogan's all seem to have quietened down, with the most likely being Gundogan. Seemingly because he wants to leave and Barca & Bayern have dropped interest. Strikes that will make it at Man UTD have to be goal scorers, Bacca, Lacazette, Cavani, Benzema are all that and because they are all good players then it is natural that they are linked with us. We are one of the best teams in the world and probably the most marketable and well known team in the world. No actual solid news on a ST as yet so its a wating game. Muller is worth a mention in this as he came out and said him and LvG has a relationship that 'is beyond what is normal for a manager and player' Would be quality. Turan also be hawked around Europe by his agent so it's likely that we have a sniff.

Basically what i'm saying is that this transfer stuff is boring, exciting, frustrating, joyful and everything else. reading twitter will only set you up for a fall. Rumours are nothing but that, rumours. No-one knows for certain until we see the player holding an MU scarf wearing our very nice white MU polo.

Depay is my phone background. Have a nice day.

Good post Harry, think valdes will be first choice GK if Dave leaves. Would like us to sign bernd leno as back up. RB clyne seems good value at 12mil but not better than a fit Rafael. mayb we won't sign any1? CB would b happy with hummels, ottamendi, garay, laporte, varane or stones. Ramos is good but overpriced and may clash wiv LVG like he did with Jose. Number 6 i'd like schweinsteiger for under 10 mil. martinez would b even better tho. Don't c a striker coming in this season but muller would b an interesting option

We would be whipped in that case.

Or maybe we just have other targets?

Agree1 Disagree2

25 Jun 2015 15:18:19
RedAndy if getting one player from a club that has consistently taken our best players from us is not part of our strategy then I would raise some serious questions about the people in charge of our transfers.

When selling your best player to Madrid you are not tempted to get Ramos, Bale, Carvajal, Varane, Benzema etc in return regardless of whether they were our targets or not then I would raise some serious questions of our transfer strategy and how we look at the transfer market.

If players like Ramos, Varane do not fall in your list of targets (albeit as 2nd choice or 3rd choice behind your main target) then I don't think it is a correct strategy.

Agree2 Disagree1

25 Jun 2015 13:05:22
I hope we don't get tied up negotiating with RM over DDG all summer. It's more important for us to sign our target players. We should tell RM here's our price pay it or leave it and walk away and carry on talks/ enquiries with other players.

I'd make it difficult for RM unless we get a good enough price for DDG.

I'd rather we sign a RB, CB, DM and maybe another forward and only have to worry about a new GK than have to worry about a RB, CB, DM and a GK.

If the price being branded around for Clyne is correct (£12million) then why on earth did we pay out our backsides for Shaw? There isn't a gap befitting that difference in transfer fee between the two players in my opinion.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

25 Jun 2015 12:52:24
shaw is a far better player imo .
clyne is also in the last year of his contract

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 12:53:36
JMB - Clyne is 24, shaw was 18, so you have to take into consideration some compensation we had to pay. Also the simple fact is we are Manchester United. Clubs know we have money and know that we want their players. They can swindle us until their hearts content.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 12:55:36
JMB,

I am pretty sure you know as well as I do that you cannot judge two players against each other when it comes to these things. Age, length of contract, other interested parties, how much the selling club are willing to accept are all variables that are important and there are many others too.

I also don't think the amount being said for Clyne will be correct anyway, Southampton wouldn't accept that, so you are comparing an accepted offer against a rejected offer.

Agree1 Disagree4

25 Jun 2015 12:56:52
I rate Shaw more highly than Clyne. Also Shaw didn't have a year left on his contract which helps. I'm sure if we offered £15 million we could sign Clyne.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 12:57:45
Simple, Shaw had a longer contract, we wanted to buy him, and, most importantly, we were willing to pay that fee. As Ed002 said, no other club would go near the valuation, but we did.

Someday people will have to accept that transfer fees have less to do with the talent of the player, than what the buying club is willing to pay.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 13:04:59
Because United negotiations in transfers are not great. This is not a new thing. But as you say, it is ridiculous.
And if clyne is only £12m then why aren't we in for him?
I think the best negotiators in Europe are juve. They seem to be able to pay lower prices for their players. I honestly don't rate Woodward at all and Gill was a big loss to United.
Spoke to someone here who knows lvg very well and they play golf and socialise a lot, and he said that lvg told him 4 weeks ago that he had a list of 4-5 players which was given to Woodward to negotiate. We are still waiting!!

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Jun 2015 13:21:42
I think its because we desperately needed to bring our team back to her glory days. Southampton didn't want to sell and we needed to pay an outrageous amount they couldn't say no to. Remember Chelsea were also after him. It was a desperate move anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 13:36:21
We paid over the odds for Shaw, about £20m for a very promising young English player would have been right. That said, I do think he is a better player than Clyne and will turn out to be a great LB for us in the coming years, so we won't be bothered about the cost in the end.

Agree2 Disagree1

25 Jun 2015 13:36:28
Clyne is 5 years older than Luke and also is in the last year of his contract (I believe Shaw has signed a new contract at Southampton not long before we signed him though can't be certain). That pretty much sums up the price difference tbh. Also we probably overpaid for Shaw due to our need and Southampton not needing to sell.

Agree0 Disagree2

25 Jun 2015 13:39:50
I think most people might disagree, for me shaw was more consistent over the course of the season and is the much better defender, clyne is good but not a good as shaw.

Maybe shaw is worth double and we overpaid a little but for me shaw, wheb fit and has a run games he can become one of the best lbs.

But only time will tell any price is a gamble but I do think when an english player has a good season/seasons thier price goes through the roof

Indeed Redrosie. I didn't realise he was in his last year of contract but still I don't think there is much between him and Shaw at the moment. I, like everyone else, have high hopes for Shaw but I believe he was very poor last season.

Just on Clyne, I have been an avid advocate in my belief that Coleman would be the ideal RB but at the price being branded Clyne could most definitely be screwed business for Liverpool. Time will tell I suppose.

Agree0 Disagree0

With all the links to cb's (Hummels, Otamendi, Ramos etc.) I'm surprised we haven't been linked with Rannochia of Inter and Mustafi, Otamendi's defensive partner at Valencia.
Rannochia is a beast of man, still the right side of 30 at 27. Mustafi on the other hand i feel he is very underrated, for me he stood out as a better defender than Oamendi whenever i have watched Valencia this season, and he has broken into the German national team , surely he has been overlooked?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Jun 2015 12:56:24
'Better defender than Otamendi'? I rate Mustafi, but not to that extent. Some people just like bashing names we are linked to. For exmaple, when Hummels was 'close to singing' everyone jumped on the 'injury prone' bandwagon. Now I've seen a few people say Mustafi is better than Otamendi. Ramos will be too old and too rash before you know it. We should go for Pepe. Better of the two.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 14:13:06
like I said whenever I watched Valencia, Mustafi stood out more than Otamendi, seems a lot more composed on the ball where as Otamendi likes to put himself about. Don't get me wrong I like Otamendi, but I think with our current style of play Mustafi would fit better as a bal playing cb.

The idea of Sergio Ramos coming to Old Trafford is mouth-watering.

He is undoubtedly one of the best defender in the world and at a perfect age of 29, he would bring that all important experience and class to our backline.

He would be great in an LVG side because of his pace, meaning a higher line can be played along side Rojo or Smalling.

He is also a great ball-player who can ping the ball across the pitch up to Depay or Di Maria. Read further down the page he had around 90% pass completion rate last season! That is crazily good!

The only downfall is his rashness, 19 red cards for Madrid, something that could be worked on. However he would bring a bite back into our side, something we haven't replace from Vidic/Keane.

Im hoping we pick him up for anything under 40 million, as I think he could have a massive impact on the first team.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

25 Jun 2015 11:31:12
Also he's very poor in 1v1 situations highlighted by his poor tackle percentage and high foul percentage.

Like you say, his discipline is an issue, passing accuracy fora central defender is always around 90%, simply because they don't play risky passes, so anything around the 88-90% mark is about average.

His 7 defensive actions a game are a good indication of the type of work he usually puts in, however the pace of the game could be a concern, he struggles against pace and that's exactly what the Premier League has in abundance.

I think he'll be fine, but there is still risk involved.

25 Jun 2015 11:40:42

Rumours of Ramos continue to grow and we have been linked with plenty of centre halves but out of the 3 big names we have been linked with who are people's preference? Hummels, Otamendi or Ramos?

Hummels has been linked for a couple of years but interest seems to have waned but out of the 3 he is the best ball playing centre back. Although Ramos can step out he doesn't have the passing range of Hummels. However, he is probably a little bit more injury and error prone than Otamendi or Ramos.

Otamendi is in the Vidic mould and our defence needs a player like that. However, is he good enough with the ball for the way LVG plays?

Ramos gives the best of both worlds IMO. While he can be very rash there is no doubting he is a fantastic defender. He can use the ball pretty well but the main thing is he can defend well.

For me Ramos isn't a realistic option even though he'd be my first choice. The more I see of Otamendi the more impressed I am and he'd be my second choice slightly ahead of Hummels. I'll be interested to hear everyone's thoughts.

RJ i'd choose Otamendi.
Hummels seems injury prone and we've had enough of those sort of players, Ramos, I dunno, he seems a controversial figure and a steep transfer fee and wages, personally I wouldn't touch him. I think for what we need, wage cost and getting games out of them, Otamendi would be the way to go, I'd like us to go for Stones at Everton too as one for the future.

I totally disagree.

Serios Ramos is by far the better passer of all of them. You always see him pinging cross field passes out to the wingers, he had 90% pass accuracy across the whole of last season. He is also far, far quicker.

He is the ideal centre back and it's getting that serious that I'd be very disappointed if he doesn't join haha.

Haha fresh. It gets even more disappointing when we want someone so bad and it turns out we never even was in for them ha. Listen on here sometimes it's like we've missed out to other clubs on all these players that we didn't even bid for.
Ramos would be a totally unexpected transfer mind lol.

Ramos and Otimendi will be a good partnership.

I've said a few times I think Schneiderlin would be perfect for us. He's so u underrated IMO. Have watched him closely especially last season and think he would be perfect for us. If he moved to arsenal along with Cech, I believe they can win the league next year.

I think if we get schneiderlin and ramos we can win league too getting ramos actually covers two of our problem areas couple of years ago he was one of the best RB before converted to CB I know I said a cpl days ago he was just using us for a new contract but graham hunter says it's not the case he actually wants to come to us so let's hope WOODY gets both schneiderlin and ramos signed up by the wkend here's hoping

Graham Hunter is far more reliable than Balague - I really hope Ramos signs, he would be the best signing we have had for years.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the 2015 summer review is ready for upload and will be added to an article tomorrow, so keep an eye out for it!

It's taken me many months to all of this together and hours watching some of the most frustrating football teams on the planet.

So if you could all get involved in the comments section of the football news and views article tomorrow that'll be brilliant! Obviously these are only my views on watching a lot of footage so it'll be interesting to hear what you all think.

Just a heads up, the report is 52 pages long and incorporates a discussion about Van Gaal and his first year, the philosophy, his signings to date, the future of football in my opinion (tactically) and of course the transfers!

I've compiled a short discussion on players likely to leave, positions that need strengthening and then a strong analysis of players who we need to sign - based on the previously mentioned footage and Squawka statistics.

So tomorrow is the big reveal!

{Ed007's Note - I'm looking forward to that, Jose.}
