Dani Alves, Bastian Schweinsteiger now I know your age is just a number but there is a point at which every footballer starts to go in to decline and I'm not sure if going for the older players is the best choice. I'm not denying these specific players talents as they obviously aren't imaginary but shouldn't we go for medium aged players with age and to some extent experience on their side?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

26 May 2015 01:28:56
At least at their age, they'll not want to go and play for RM or Barca, once they've had their fill of us. Beast will be happy.

Agree4 Disagree0

26 May 2015 07:02:36
If they have still lot to offer and won't cost us much. I will happily sign them

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2015 07:18:04
Schweini if available is a must. Alves on the other hand, we should stay clear of him.

Agree0 Disagree1

26 May 2015 07:34:16
He is very good right back and offensively miles better than Valencia.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 May 2015 07:48:09
Alves if signed for appropriate wages can give us 2 more good years . I won't be able to see Valencia playing LB again

26 May 2015 08:01:46
Sorry ! meant to say RB

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 21:58:31
If we do go for Otamendi then I hope we go for Garay too. Would be a sturdy first choice pairing although I'm old enough to remember our drawn out pursuit of Roberto Ayala.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

25 May 2015 22:30:46
So Argentina notorious for their weak defence would make up 3/4 of our back 4, go figure.

Agree1 Disagree2

26 May 2015 01:27:27
I don't know any facts or figures, but I always thought the Argie defenders were usually hard as nails.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2015 02:05:55
Erm notorious for their weak defence! Maybe they are a bit namby pamby like the Uruguayans. Anyone remember Scotland against those Uruguayan softies in the 1986 world cup?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2015 07:58:32
Ayala, wow supa blast from the past.

I can remember that. What a defender too.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 21:56:48
I think this is going to be such an interesting summer not just at United but at all the top clubs through Europe regarding players and managers potentially moving on.
It looks as though we are getting our transfers in nice and early so we can relax this deadline day. Biggest question might be if Bale becomes available will we make our move and does ADM and RVP stay. Going to be very interesting.
Great news by sly sources that BR is set to stay at LFC, hope this is true the scousers will be fuming ha.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

25 May 2015 21:52:20
With Arsenal reportedly on the verge of signing Vidal (which I will be gutted about) does that leave Sneiderlin of Southampton out of the equation for them.
If so could we go in for him along with Gudjogan.
Would give us a good and varied midfield!!!

mufc have the money ready for Nicolás Otamendi but they want to negotiate the €50m clause. A deal is likely. [guillem balague on revista]

Believable1 Unbelievable1

25 May 2015 21:46:29
50 million euro is around 35 million pounds, which already sounds a lot better. To be fair I wouldn't criticise Valencia from wanting at least 30 million for a good defender who has many years to run on his contract so how much further can you negotiate?

Did I read somewhere the other day that the owner of Valencia has a link with Man Utd?

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2015 01:00:25
Peter Lim has interests in Valencia as well as a connection with Salford

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 19:32:44
From all the quotes today it seems like a case of stumping up the money and Otamendi is ours who i think is the good strong battling defender but do we still have an issue with playing it our from the back with him and smalling as a pairing? Also its nice to see alves dismissing any chance of a move to PSG, i personally think he would be a great addition to the 1st team! Transfers this year need to be 1st team players so current good players currently in the 1st e.g. Valencia are squad players which will make us a strong unit to challenge on all fronts

Believable2 Unbelievable0

How does everybody rate vades first full game for us great shot stopper but woeful on crosses can only see him as a back up keeper

Believable5 Unbelievable1

25 May 2015 19:20:49
He reminded me a bit of De Gea when he first come here dodgy on crosses but a great shot saver. Those 2 saves he made down low were world class.

25 May 2015 18:33:03
How about De Gea in a straight swap for Verane?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

26 May 2015 07:14:18
Only if he wants to go otherwise no one swaps a keeper that will be top 2 in the world for the next 10 or years for a defender that is very good but not at that level. Marquinos is better and so is Sergio Ramos and Laporte is up there and so is the Atheltico Madrid guy who's name escapes me.

Interested to hear you guys thoughts on strikers for next year.

Obviously we will be playing with one up front and two attacking wingers. So do we drop Rooney, or do we stick with up top and bring in a back up / keep RVP?

The simplest and most likely solution is have Rooney starting with RVP and Wilson as back up. I think at this stage of his career RVP would take second choice at a club like ours rather than moving to somewhere like Fenerbache in Turkey where he has been linked. He has a young family and will want to keep them settled I'm sure.

Besides, I really cannot think of a striker that would be right for us that is available. Only Muller but I don't think he is available and Rooney is basically an immovable object in our team and can only play upfront - useless outwide and lost in midfield.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

25 May 2015 17:47:54
I'm not so sure rvp is the sort of character who would be happy being back up and I feel he could cause trouble in the camp if not playing regularly

Agree1 Disagree0

25 May 2015 18:03:18
Would love to see henriquez get the chance he deserves. Other than that we could honestly do with a top striker to be honest cause we've really lacked goals. I'd sign lacazette cause he can also play on the wing so wouldn't have to sit out if both him and Rooney are on form

Agree0 Disagree4

25 May 2015 18:06:04
It would be difficult to purchase a striker that is as good though because they know they will be being bought for the bench surely.

Agree0 Disagree1

25 May 2015 18:09:47
i think that's why we are looking at a player like ings

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 18:58:16
Lacazette would expect to play every week. Perhaps sticking with RVP is what we need and is best for us right now.

There's been some sniping on here lately. As someone who loves all of you I think everyone needs to stop being so sensitive. I often agree with what GDS writes and also what jred writes but the 2 of them go at it like ferrets in a sack. the same with some others; I think people write things with a particular tone in mind but others read it with a different tone, hence the escalating arguing. It's a banter site, let's have a laugh, share our views, agree when we can, disagree where we need to, but ultimately just have a bit of fun.

There used to be some pretty savage insults flying around and some very poor taste postings but we have moved on from that. If you can't laugh don't come on, life's too short to get upset with what someone you have never met thinks of your posts.

As I said, I like a lot of posters who don't seem to get on, I think it's all in the interpretation.

Hugs. x

Totally agree AJH, I read this site every hour but sometimes hold back on replying due to the majority of arguments that are caused!

We all support United and we all want the best for our club, so let's agree to disagree and stop with the petty comments directed at each other.

{Ed007's Note - (finger)

25 May 2015 16:41:02
I agree it should be friendly banter but not sure why you have picked out myself and jred, we can both handle ourselves on the banter front, nothing offensive has ever been said between the two of us as far as I'm aware. There is a difference between arguing your point and just general arguing, if we all agreed the site wouldn't be as fun, I'm already missing JMB's negative outlook on life!

So to sum up, AJH, you are a ray of sunshine

Agree1 Disagree3

25 May 2015 16:58:17
Here we go ajh. You try to get people to lighten up and gds has got offended! Haha.
Whoever disagreed with gds needs to chill out.
It is a banter site and no ones views are bible. We're on here cause we love United so let's keep that in mind and agree to disagree with a bit of grace!!
Beast and JMB are part of this family and though I don't agree with a lot of their views,I miss their posts.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 May 2015 16:58:33

Agree1 Disagree0

25 May 2015 17:02:06
Quality as ever Brendan. GDS, I wasn't singling you out per se, just highlighting that whilst I agree with most of what you and jred say, the 2 of you do cross swords a lot. I know neither of you have an issue with that, just trying to show that sometimes I don't see that much difference in opinions between people who are arguing. You have had a lot of stick on here and always remain constructive, I know you are a big boy (😬) and there are lots of others that disagree. It just feels like it's getting a bit boring with people looking to take offence.

Hi eds, is there any truth in the Vidal to Arsenal rumours? Do we still hold an interest in Vidal?

Think he would be the perfect addition to our 1st team & would be extreamly disappointed to see h wearing an arsenal shirt!

Many thanks for all your input eds!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Arsenal are interested in Vidal and contrary to what Juventus say publicly about wanting Vidal to stay, there is every chance he will leave Juve this summer. There doesn't seem to be anything happening with Utd regarding Vidal.}

Rumors of Gundogan getting stronger. Trying to raise the bid from Barcelona?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 May 2015 11:27:44
Biggest disappointment is the way we've finished the season. No enthusiasm and no pride. The players seem to be content with 4th place.
Also, we have created very little. I think Falcao will go elsewhere and become a hit. He might not hit the highs from a few seasons back but he will score lots of goals again.
We could buy all the strikers we want, but if there isn't a system to create chances for them then next season will be no better.
I am now worried that klopp might be going to Liverpool if they decide to get rid of Rodgers.
I hope we can go back to playing free flowing football next year.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

25 May 2015 11:45:35
So what if liverpool get klopp, they are not even in the top 4 teams we need to worry about next season, a 27 point swing on last year between the two teams says it all, we have more money to spend and our best players don't all want to leave so they will just get further and further behind us.

I don't think we really finished the season with no pride, yesterday was a strange one as hull had everything to play for and we had nothing to play for, it's always going to be like that, but the arsenal game we played well and a decent result at an in form palace meant 4th was in the bag. The west brom game was the one that killed our top 3 chances, that was just one of them games where 99 out of 100 times we would have won.

I am looking forward to next season, we might not win the league but I have a feeling we are going to give it a bloody good go.

Agree4 Disagree3

25 May 2015 12:08:51
Get a grip NM. Klopp will be Arsenal manager the season after next. And how did he do this season with BvB? Like I said, get a grip my friend. There's more things than this in life to worry about.

Agree2 Disagree2

25 May 2015 12:40:08
NM has a point. Other than the purple patch against the big teams we gave struggled a lot. its been great fun and we made top 4 but I also think it has been disappointing. I expected a lot more this year.

Looking ahead, I think Shaw will be brilliant when fully fit but we remain short in key areas. This window remains critical.

I remain unconvinced about LVG'S philosophy. For the most part this has been pedestrian. If we give him the benefit of the doubt due to injuries and new players, we need to see an early step forward next year.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 May 2015 12:41:35
Nomid

The game meant nothing mate and had we not had hull and relegation battle and forced to field a decent team, I would have liked to see a bunch of players from the youth system.

Falcao will end up back in Spain or Italy as the PL is just too much for him. He is physically not strong enough and got bullied mate.

Klop is no messiah mate proven by the fact that losing Goetze and Lewandowski has turned them into an average team and we can all argue he has done a Brendan Rogers by buying poorly as their replacements.

The PL whilst not sometimes the greatest league in terms of technical play is still the toughest league for most managers and given the expectations that comes with managing a top club and the English media, it is like being in fish bowl and many managers fail rather than succeed and hence the short tenure of most of them.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 May 2015 13:08:27
I like Klopp, but the reason he left Dortmund was to manage a team who can challenge for trophies. Liverpool are miles off that, and I can't see him going to a side that have all the same budgetary constraints that frustrated him at Dortmund.

I do agree that this season has been less than reassuring. £150m + spend for a 6 point increase on last season is a worrying stat that is glossed over by our position. We look like a side bereft of attacking ideas, and this needs to change if we want to progress. New faces will help, but new ideas are far more important.

Agree6 Disagree0

25 May 2015 17:06:29
All fair points. My worry was the way we have played the last 5 games. Not a lot of confidence or enthusiasm.
I know klopp is no messiah but his style of football suits United's.
I hope lvg can get the balance right next season. The most encouraging thing us the way we performed against the top teams, that bodes we'll. We need to be more ruthless against the likes of Swansea, Wba etc,no disrespect to any of these teams of course.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 17:09:50
Do you think we could get Rodgers in if LVG leaves ? Great young manager

Agree1 Disagree0

25 May 2015 10:25:29
Would anyone be happy with and does anyone think it would be realistic for us to have a summer like we did last season? A full back(clyne), a centre back(hummels/otamendi), 2 midfielders(schweinsteiger and gundogan/wijnaldum), a winger(obviously depay) and a striker/ other forward(lacazette/bale)?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

25 May 2015 12:43:13
I would be delighted with that and it addresses all the areas, we would win the league or come very close with that and have a real chance to make a run in europe.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 May 2015 15:01:33
don't see that many coming in but would b delighted if they did. i'd b happy wiv clyne/alves, hummels/otamendi, scweinsteiger and depay. expect us to get another cm and top sriker next summer

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 16:26:58

Lacazette is unrealistic as is Bale, Ronaldo etc.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

25 May 2015 11:37:02
Not done enough yet IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 12:42:46
He had a bright start to his career but he hasn't done little the past 2 seasons to warrant a big move.

Maybe the form of Milan has affected his performances but then even the best of players still show some talent even when they're side aren't doing that well.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 09:27:48
Looks like we will have 2 new wide players, Depay & Gaitan, 1 CB, 1RB and a defensive midfielder can't see them buying more than 5 players really.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 May 2015 09:13:56
Schweinsteiger rumours are gathering pace rapidly right now . I would really love him to play with us . He is gone from peak but still has lot to offer and currently i don't think there are much options in number 6 role . There are many midfielders we are linked with but none of them are no. 6 . Pogba, Gundogan, Nainggolan, all are attacking midfielders . So bringing Bastian now would be good enough until we can find better options in coming windows

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 May 2015 10:22:26
I think Bastian would be an inspired signing the quality and experience he would bring would be priceless.
it would give us time to build for the future as well as having a good campaign I for one would be happier with him than I would be with Vidal

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 10:26:47
Nainggolan is not an attacking midfielder, he's very defensive. He can score a goal or two but he sits back and breaks up play.

So the season is over.

I think its there for us all to see, we are missing height and power in midfield and generally just around the pitch, yes go on say it we got felliani but he can't be everywhere.

I think, Muller, otamendi, Clyne and Kondogbia maybe signed

Players of that calibre anyway,

Looking forward to the closure of the transfer window already just to see what our team will look like and perform like after all the ins and outs.

Just like to say I read this site all the time, don't post a lot but when i do i normally post on the liverpool page for the bantz, but them losing yesterday was enough for us all to laugh until august

Have a Good pre season guys,

Read you lot in august .

Morning Eds, am I right in thinking no German has ever played for Utd? If Sweinsteiger comes could it open the floodgates as we've missed out on loads of top quality German players in the past

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Ron-Robert Zieler was a United player mate. Very good keeper he was as well.}

25 May 2015 17:08:59
He's doing ok over in Germany, although once De Gea goes, I think Bernd Leno should be who we go after?

{Ed001's Note - if they do get Emery, would he want to leave?}

25 May 2015 14:17:15

Hmm interesting choice but probably would not as who knows how he would do in the PL. Many have come with bigger reputations and failed.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 13:40:17
chris not sure to be honest .
rooney is captain ,knows the epl, big voice in the dressing room , is the player the others look to plays a number of positions and for me we always look a better team when he plays.
12 league goals playing in a team that has struggled to create chances and also playing a number of positions.

lew is a good player but so was kagawa for example , he has no prem experience has managed 17 league goals playing in a very attack minded team that have walked there league .

it isn't football manager on the computer there is a lot to take in to account , i would prob keep rooney as don't really believe in selling your best players .
fergy summed it up very well with " cows in fields "

Agree1 Disagree1

25 May 2015 13:43:58
ps.
do you think the "should we sell rooney "is the most repeated post ever ?

do you think he will leave this summer ?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2015 23:58:40
Todays game summed up the season for me, zero goal threat!!! I honestly think the lack of a prolific striker has cost us a minimum of 10 points this season and I would treat the importance of a new striker on par with the need for a quality cb.

Roll on August, let the transfer circus commence.

Believable1 Unbelievable0
