Will we see an extra midfielder for the next 3 league games to play with pogba and matic.? I have a feeling we will see either herrera and fellaini in there and i don't see martial and rash both starting.
My reasoning is jose's post match comments about losing midfield and having too mammy attacking players on. i'm not saying i'm in favour but just a hunch.
The real positives from today were that young and lindelof both played well.
Watford on Tuesday is a huge game. I hope lukaku gets back among the goals he worked hard today without much reward
Watford don create lots of chances but also give up a lot of chances so i'm hoping to see an open game which suits us better imo.

We played 3 in the middle against Basel and have done a few times this season . Depends who the opposition are.

26 Nov 2017 08:02:37
Ken, I think we should play with 3 at the back and pack the midfield. Watford's formation is to have 5 in midfield and they create a shedload of chances. They have big, strong and very quick midfield and attack. If we play with 2 midfielders against them or arsenal or City, then I think we're in for a hiding.
We looked all over the place against Brighton yesterday, and a better team would have put two or three past us.
So personally, I'll play Lindelof, Rojo and bailly (if fit) then Valencia and Young as wing backs. Matic, pogba and hererra in the middle. And have Rashford and Martial up front. This will give us a fast attacking side while packing the midfield when we lose the ball.

Watford have lost 3 of there last 5 games . I think there beatable.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Nov 2017 20:56:20
They are beatable for sure and we have better players than they do but they do pose a threat and its not an easy game.
Their manager is doing a good job and their left side is very strong their lb has impressed me both games ivfe watched and richarlson is terrific.

He has lots of ability and a really good attitude. A really hard working team player that has all the skill you r would expect from a Brazilian winger. I think he is destined for a big move in the next 18 months if he continues his improvment. From what I've seen he is in the bracket just below the likes of rash martial alli as top young epl players with great talent.

Agreed results wise mate, but I stayed up ridiculously late to watch the game screwing up my body clock - yet again I went to bed wishing I had not bothered, it's 90% of games now and beyond a joke!

I suppose this is chalked off as another one of those "It doesn't matter about the performance it's the result that matters" to most of our fans, copy paste, copy paste. Frankly I'm sick of that BS.

Great result compared to rivals, boring game to watch again. He even went 4-4-2 for a part so it's ingrained in them now!

Think it's safe to say last season we probably would have drawn that game, something a bit stronger about us this season. Only 1-0 and no prizes for style (although didn't think we played too badly, Brighton were decent) but a big 3 points.

United record for games unbeaten at home, Jose has turned OT into a fortress again, the next home league game will decide if we are fighting for Top 4 or for the title I think, although our away form hasn't been great. I think I would be happy with 4 points from the next 2 games.

As someone said below, city playing so well is clouding the judgment a little, most other seasons we would be top of the league with this points tally, hardly conceding a goal, especially at Home. Hopefully we keep the form up and let's see where we end up.

I just think the European travel took it out of the players. They looked very tired compared to the Brighton players.

I'm very happy with the result. Maximum points from a hard fought game. Just glad the players fought till the end. Hoping for a Chelsea-liverpool draw now.

We should have had a pen too to be fair.

25 Nov 2017 19:17:36
Gds, do you think we'll get 4 points from away ties at Watford and arsenal? I think we'll be very lucky to come away with two draws.

25 Nov 2017 19:44:26
Watford are no mugs. Arsenal on their day can beat anyone. I'm not expecting 4 points. We'll see.

25 Nov 2017 20:56:27
Schmid your starting to sound like maze.

Be careful or people will stsrt to talk.

Please make sure your on here after the next 2 games when we get more than what your expecting?

Agree3 Disagree0

25 Nov 2017 22:17:15
Schmid,

I think they will be very tough games, I almost said I wouldn’t happy with 3 points but can’t be happy losing a game. I think to continue applying any pressure to city we need to get 4 points really, I expect city to get a minimum 7 from the next 3, probably 9.

I don’t think we will be lucky to come away with 2 draws, that makes us sound like we are a very poor team. We are above both of those teams in the league for a reason and both of them are beatable, our away form was good until pogba’s injury so hopefully now he’s back we will kick on again. I’m glad I don’t have your negative attitude, must be hard getting through life sometimes.

Arsenal are good on there day ask spurs also pretty poor on there day ask, well anyone .
Watford are doing well up to 8th in the table behind Burnley

Mind you man United aren't a bad team either.

We are sat in 2nd arsenal 6th Watford 8th .

Maybe they should be worried about Manchester United.

25 Nov 2017 17:13:34
Not pretty today but can't win every game 4.0 .
Keeps us second in the league, I think people forget that in the rush to slag the team off .

Pep is doing something very special at city at the moment I think that might clouding a fews judgment .
One outstanding team (possible the best in europe) above us everyone else below .

Believable8 Unbelievable3

25 Nov 2017 17:31:45
There's a reason the prem is the best in the world.

One of them reasons was today showing how the smaller teams can frustrate and clause the bigger teams problems

A very good victory against a team that were solid. Game with a game plan and deserved more.

Now we move on the midweek another game.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Nov 2017 17:39:02
City have nothing got to do with United, every time we do bad do we say look at pep. i couldn't give two hoots about pep or city.
Why can't United do it, it's not like we don't have the money, we just bought a few half arsed players.
And I'm happy we got the win 3points is 3 points no matter what way we get it.

Agree5 Disagree1

25 Nov 2017 17:39:59
Players looked tired today, you could see Brighton players had more energy and spark.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2017 17:46:21
Leah
People on the live chat wanted 14 players sold today?

Where second in the league honestly what's people's problem .
Brighton where good today, good on them we aren't going to win every game or score 4 in every game, like we did last week .

But so far only city who are playing out there skin at the moment have scored more or got more points .
You would think we were mid table reading some posts.

Syd,

As is expected after an away CL game when the opposition had a week off, spurs will probably tell you similar but they didn’t get the 3 points.

25 Nov 2017 17:56:36
Exactly my point, we had less energy due to midweek.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2017 18:38:20
14 players is a bit much, lol.
But there's a few players that haven't got their heart in it,
And the pay cheque they are picking up every week,
Playing in Europe is no excuse either. They are fit professional athletes.
Put them on a hard working job 6 days a week and they would know about it.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 Nov 2017 19:26:24
Totally agree Leahy. So because city are doing well "at the moment" then that's ok to be 2nd.
City are doing well and will continue to do well as they are a fantastic side who have a lot of creativity. They're not going to suddenly buckle up and start losing games. City are here to stay. They're assembling a side that is capable of winning the PL for years.
Even Messi rates them.
So the question that Leahy rightly asked, why can't we do it? We are light years behind them and the next two games will prove it.

Agree3 Disagree1

25 Nov 2017 19:35:35
We are 5 points behind them and to be honest not really playing well, we have a few more gears to go through yet .
I suppose we should be 1st every week?

That said city have pep and the boy is a bit special.

Agree3 Disagree3

25 Nov 2017 19:55:17
Jred. I get the sarcasm. But we've all got to understand that we are not a patch on them at present. They are a cut above all the teams in the PL. Pep is top dog at the moment.
What Leahy is trying to say, why can't we be like them? I watched Liverpool v Chelsea and everyone is playing with adventure while we play antiquated football. It is frustrating.

Before Liverpool scored Chelsea played with everyone except Hazard and Morata behind the ball. Only difference to our Anfield game was that Liverpool got the goal that brought on Chelsea subs and opened the game up. On came William, Fabregas and Pedro. Conte approached the game exactly like Morinho.

26 Nov 2017 09:12:12

Perfect game for him to assert himself and show off the talent that he has.

May opt to play Lindelof-Smalling-Marcos with Valencia and Young as wing-backs.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2017 13:48:33
Not sure we'll need three CB's mind. Cannot see why Smalling and Rojo cannot play. Physically Rojo looks like he's in the best shape of his career. Never seen his face so slim. But if not then Lindelof did okay against Newcastle bar a slip.

25 Nov 2017 14:01:30

Lindelof and Smalling. Rojo on the bench.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Nov 2017 14:08:18
If Lindelof plays often enough with Smalling perhaps they might form a good partnership? Afterall both of them have not really feature much. Hopefully our defense begins to find their various partnerships and getting used to each other’s style of play. It takes time as per Ferd and Vidic. I really hope the current forms up.

Very difficult to do business in January.
Out; Fellaini wants to go, Shaw is the surplus ( loan likely), don't rule out James Wilson ( loan)

The club would like to add;
LB-Danny Rose/ Aaron Martin.
CB-Samuel Umtiti/ Dayot Upamecano (very expensive), can play as DM too.
DM-/ Casemiro (possible at one point)
CM- Sergej Savic (first choice, very expensive and would be difficult to get at this point), / Carlos Soler ( possible but very expensive)
AM- Ozil ( if the price is low) / Lorenzo Peregrini (unlikely)
Mourinho would like Fabrigas at
reasonable price (Available),
Vidal ( available, if the price
is reasonable Manutd would be
interested)
LW- Asensio (unlikely), / Bale (available, to be priced out considering is injuries, / Perisic, ( Manutd could return) / Jose Arnaiz ( viable option, )

CF-Robert Lewandowsk (possible if Mourinho stays) / Greizmann ( very difficult, wants to stay in Spain)
Dyabala ( Interest could have gone but Mou likes him)

Mourinho: "I wasn't happy with his (Mkhitaryan) last performances. I'm not speaking about one or two, I'm speaking about three, four or five. He started the season very well and after that, step by step he was disappearing. "

Well I'm glad Jose could see what we were all seeing. Well most of us. Good player, but has struggled recently. Hope he can get his mojo back.

25 Nov 2017 08:43:37
Yep agree syd. Let's hope it inspires miki if it doesn't and we get more of the same flakey performances then sell him.

Agree2 Disagree1

25 Nov 2017 12:52:10
Easy to attack Miki as far as the manager is concerned. Why not say exactly the same about Lukaku, more time on the pitch than Miki as well. He said pretty much the opposite when Lukaku was getting some deserved gyp recently.

I agree with everything the manager has said about Miki as a fan, but if he is going down that line then why be the school bully? He has his favourites, imagine him saying this about Zlatan, Lukaku or Pogba - all three have done well for periods and then faded very badly for long runs of games?

So I'm all up for hearing honest views of the managers so long as they don't cherry pick easy targets. Jose has shown himself to be a weasel here as far as I'm concerned, weak and wimpish.

25 Nov 2017 13:06:00
So true Beast mourinho needs to be fair with all.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Nov 2017 13:09:38
Agree Syd and good management from Jose. He's been coasting through games, not working hard enough and maybe thinking the odd assist, decent pass or dribble was good enough. Letting Fabregas run past him a number of times against Chelsea sums him up. Big wake up call, he's going to have to wait for his chance and at least put in the required work rate or he won't even find himself in the match day squad. Time to knuckle down and show some real desire, commitment and prove to us all he's good enough to be a regular starter again.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2017 13:58:05
Amount of times Lukaku has shouted at Mikhitaryan to run here or there. It's painful to watch. Hopefully it's a bit of a rut and he can get back to where he was near the start of the season. Otherwise it's another Kagawa situation.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Nov 2017 14:05:10
Miki has been incredibly poor. Right to be called out on as it has been a number if appearances in a row. Jose has done this with players recently and each time it has garnered a response from the player. Why not do it again if miki responds. Jose obviously feels he has to. Not a weasel move beast, this is how Jose has got the correct response from martial, miki arc.

Lukaku needs service and hasn't been getting it. Why attack a player who has been Good when given the right chances. I think lukaku has suffered a bit from a knock and Jose knows it. No sense in criticising lukaku IMO. He is there to bang the ball in the net, hard to do when he is not getting the creativity, partly the reason he has had a shot at miki right now.
