Ed002 posted citys transfer targets on city page.
Looks like both clubs have a lot of common targets.
I think he said jorginho wants city i'm not sure if he is 1st choice for city but i suspect he is.
Ya ya fernandinho and david silva to ate the likely outs.
Have to say silva going will be a loss to the league.
With the window closing early and a world cup its going to be am interesting summer.
Lots of top class players and coaches on the move.

Yes Alderweireld, Jorginho and Dybala are all on their list. I know Ed hasn’t mentioned Dybala for us but signing those 3 would be massive for us.

It’s interesting ken, often clubs sign players who think we will be superstars and they don’t work out, then there are those players that we shrug our shoulders at and they turn out to be world beaters. Was anyone expecting Salah to be this good? Was there a queue of clubs for him? There was a post about the United Roma game where we hammered them 7-1, it was an interesting United team featuring a number of ‘squad’ players but what a performance.

I’m of an age now where I wait and see how tramsfers turn out, irrespective of how big the name is. Di Maria was a disaster, sometimes it is getting the right player who finishes the team.

As you say, there will be a lot of money chanigning hands and I’m sure the EPL clubs will be leading the way waving the chequebook. Pep is clearly a brilliant coach but it has been suggested that his intensity is so great he doesn’t last more than 2 or 3 years anywhere so hopefully he will sling his hook soon!

Absolutely Tony its all about getting the right player not how much he costs.

I hope he doesn't sling his hook. I just hope we rise to the challenge. For me that's what it's about.

Top post AJH I agree. We need to sign players that will fit the system instead of big names who we are having to force in. Square pegs in round hole won’t do. Bring balance to the team and we will challenge next year.

It's clearly right that we should be signing players to build a team which works as a cohesive unit capable of delivering succes. That is what the background staff did before Pep arrived at City. The players mentioned above are all to players and will strengthen them. They just happen to be exactly what we need too. Given how far City are ahead of us playing wise if I were one of these players I would choose City over us right now. In Fergies glory years players would sign for us for the same reason. They knew they would be playing with a team that had a great manager played with an identity and were virtually guaranteed to win medals. The paycheck does come into it of course especially with greedy agents but most of the top footballers will get more than enough money wherever they go. For the top players they know it is a short career and want medals too. Players like Shearer who turned down Utd for his home town team will be an ever increasing rarity.

Sorry to reply again ed I wasn't saying I wanted to sign him as I have only really seen him play against United I was only asking if he was good enough to be considered a target.

Just seen a video of Dayot Upamecano the very promising France player. It ended by saying that Man Utd are hoping to make him one of their summer signings. It looks like he can play a number of positions and only 19.Very impressive- Ed get your cheque book out "quick"😆😆.

Hi Eds

I just wondered if you could give us your opinion on how you think Ed Woodward is doing in his job? Everyone was very quick to blame managers like moyes and LVG and I wonder if woodward made any big mistakes? Losing David gill seemed like a big blow at the same time as sir Alex.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Given he doesn't pick the players or the team and his efforts are based around negotiation, there is no obvious measure other than what the club has been paying for players.}

26 Apr 2018 14:50:47
Ed is there a case at united where Woodward or the board reject a certain player if they don’t feel like that is who should be signed? (Perisic springs to mind) .

Or does Jose or whoever is manager have almost full control and presents his targets to Woodward? Or is there more of a compromise relationship?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They have to all work together and Mourinho does not have full control.}

26 Apr 2018 16:58:44
Much appreciated ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Apr 2018 18:46:05
Based on what we have paid for players - I'm literally amazed he is still in the job. He must cover himself in glory in other areas of responsibility, but on this one area i'd rather have the 'AOL' executives that negotiated the 'Time Warner' deal in charge (that is saying something)!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Unless you can be more specific about your complaint I can't respond.}

26 Apr 2018 20:02:24
It was more of a general complaint about our waste - excessive transfer fees and wages, for relatively little in return. (comparatively) .

I don't expect you to know the answer here, but if you have any insight it would be appreciated. Do you know if the board have any plans to replace Woody with somebody else regarding transfer business, or if the board have made their views known about the job being done in this department?

Like most Utd fans I am very happy with the amount we have spent in recent years, just very disappointed with many of the acquisitions that don't make sense (for many reasons) . The indecision and desperation we have shown must be a jackpot scenario for agents.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing specific there B.}

26 Apr 2018 21:02:59
I think the Pogba deal took the biscuit for me. A world record fee with the Agent pocketing an unbelievable sum of money. Then there was Obra, a free transfer but wages that make your eyes water, perception is often only that, it my perception is that Woody is a very talented businessman but not necessarily a football expert. He seems to be very keen on marque signings which is why I believe he will go after Bale if he believes him to be avaiable. As I say, just perception, I have no facts.

This season had it's lows but we certainly have improved a lot (though I'm still pissed off at the way we crashed out of CL) . But I can only wonder if we had proper full backs we would have been 1 step above our current level.
Valencia and young have been great for our club for years but haven't really offered much offensively this season. Valencia just can't cross and having a left footed LB is much more preferable than young as he would provide more support to the winger ahead of him.
Does anyone know of fullbacks we're linked with for the next season. Media has linked everyone with us but is there any solid interest in any particular players?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, lots. Read the posts.}

26 Apr 2018 13:31:20
Found your list of potential targets. Thanks Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Apr 2018 13:57:17
Sailor, I feel our squad is missing two elements to be complete.

The first is better more consistent full backs. Players who are solid defensively but offer an extra offensive dimension when teams sit deep.

The second is we struggle to control games against to top teams. We've had a mixed bag of results against the other top 6 contenders. We lack a player who can sit in the middle and control the tempo of the game, speeding it up when we need a goal or slowing it down when we need to take the sting out of the game.

If we can solve both issues for next season I expect a strong title challenge.

{Ed002's Note - Stop asking about random players you seemingly have the hots for. This is the Manchester United page.}

26 Apr 2018 14:21:44
We need proper center backs too. Someone who can play football. Not just act like a rock and panic under pressure. We are going to be in same position if we have Jones or Smalling in the center unless Bailly stays injury free or Lindelof fixes up we desperately need upgrades on center backs.

Agree1 Disagree6

26 Apr 2018 17:23:26
The biggest weakness has been the central midfield area. Apart from Matic that part of the pitch is empty. In my opinion Pogba cannot play there and Herrera is not good enough. We need at least 2 for next season and also 2 full backs, I think Danny rose is nailed on and Luke Shaw will go in the opposite direction.

Agree0 Disagree1

26 Apr 2018 17:38:37
Singh, I don't think we NEED a new centre back. If a world class option becomes available such as Alderweireld for example then we should explore it as an option. However, for me a new CB is a long way down the list for three reasons.

Firstly, I am a big fan of Tuanzebe and feel he should start to have a role in the team on a regular basis.

Secondly, we have 5 first CB's in Bailly, Lindelof, Rojo, Jones and Smalling. Plus the aforementioned Tuanzebe along with players such as Blind and TFM who can cover there. Meaning we have 8 players for two positions. We will need to shift quite a few of them before we need to bring someone else in.

And finally, and probably the most relevant point. There are very few great CB's around atm. So spending a king's ransom ona player probably only marginally better than what we have, and in a position where teamwork, understanding and communication are as important as ability I see little to be gained from spending such a huge sum.

I've mentioned Alderweireld, but beyond him we are looking at players either past their best (Godin), not good enough/ overrated (Hummels) or young talent that might be good enough but they are still learning such as Upamecano. In which case I would rather give Tuanzebe a chance.

26 Apr 2018 18:25:38
The 4 cb’s that ED002 has mentioned are, Alderweireld, Varane, Umtiti and Lopez.

The 1st 3 would be major upgrades.

Totally agree. City have spent a fortune on otamendi mangala stones and laporte and still haven't found anyone better than kompany. Like varane but why would he want to leave RM.

26 Apr 2018 19:50:54
Tuanzebe will play for villa on loan next season i believe. The plan is for him to go on our tour and if not needed then he will go back to villa on loan.
Ive very high hopes for him too shappy.
I watched the full juve napoli game the other night and jorghino was head and shoulders above every other player. Dictated the tempo of the game great In defence and awesome passing going forwards. Ed002 reckons he is city bound but that we are very keen and are trying to do a deal but the players first choice is city.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Apr 2018 20:06:39
Mangala has failed but he got his chances so can't complain. Lindelof needs to up his game or else he could be the same as Mangala.

Laporte has been good and stones is a good player but he went to City too early and Guardiola isn't going to exactly help.

Otamendi has been good this year. Any center back apart from kompany will look very poor.

That is because when uou get teams that pressures them and puts them under cosh their center backs don't know what to do becauase of Guardiola not paying any attention to defending like it doesn't exist.

26 Apr 2018 22:33:00
I like jorghino can understand why Jose would want him we need a playmaker in there to set the tempo.
But would he handle the EPL.

Jorginho was very good the other day against Juve ran the show. Had more passes than Matuidi and pjanic combined. To an extent I agree with jred but if he joins city he will take them on another level due to the way they play. Not sure our style of play would suit him.
