Yes its great&very funny that were now level with city the great were like barcelona giddy headed clowns, but also a frustration as to be level even after our level of football which hasn't been same from after first 5 games to be true, hammering wolves.QPR,fulham, wigan let's not do a city&start we great thing, rem at start of season it was how do we catch barca, the frustration of knowing that if we had that world class midfield we would now be that dominating force forget what city do,fergie trys the squad is good enough&now its Carricks great but it aint fooling us who see it week in week out,we out of champ league no excuse caus of u still got carrick etc&it aint good enough, rem its abou catching barca aint it?he now says money aint a problem well prove it,not ur norm oh they not availble yes they are if you got the money as you say! The Torres thing I still think wil get intersting this summer,Ozil khadira not a prayer he could got but didn't want,Torres he's wanted, kaka to injury prone now for what he's price would be,sneijder time as passed for him now, he would take modric tomoro but spurs wil pull ur pants down over the price!40m already turned down&they did us over berba&carrick!

Did anyone noticed,..After scoring all 3 goals Berbatov did`nt celebrated as he used to do last season and season before,...his expressions also look like he is not happy probably to leave,...he wants to stay.

Does any one have any news regarding him, well he had tough time, but yet again he proved he can be a good squad player.

Will he be sold.?in January.?

Hi Guys
with reference my post at 14.38 about the starting line-up I have to take my hat off to fergie yet again .The man is second to none.Obviously against better opposition it would have been tougher and in my opinion it was never a sending off but maybe things are starting to go our way.
Number 20 could well be on its way

a few weeks ago you were comparing yourselves to barca. if only this, if only that. now you are celebrating beating wigan as if you won cl. one of you actually stated three final appearances in final in four years was good record. fact you won it once with that team. same as us in 05. woulda coulda shoulda is what i call you. our target at start of season was top four and cup. what was yours?

mourinho:
“I am very, very happy to be in Real Madrid. It is a great experience for me.
“I believe it is probably the biggest club in the history of football, I didn’t want to miss the chance to work here but my passion is England and my next step will be to go back, if possible go and stay for a long time.
“Get me a club in a couple of years, get me a good club.”

maybe this is a hint for the united job, and im sure he'd be given a lot of time.
also does anyone think we are saving our pennies up so when a manager comes in he will have 100m+ to spend on the team.?
i wouldn't see the point in us going on a huge spending spree when we know SAF is going to retire in a few seasons, because the players he could bring in might not be the players that the next manager wants..

A good win and to top it off good performance by West Brom. The sending off was harsh but so was the penalty in the Newcastle game. Carrick was good defensively. In the air I think he would have been beaten but there were only a couple of crosses so he was lucky.
Wanted to ask everyone a question. Went to the Pool page, there everyone seems to think if Suarez is sold he will go for 60-70million. If Aguero was worth 38million then how can Suarez be going for that much?

What a great Christmas present for Sir Alex. Putting five past a determined Wigan side, with Jones, Smalling, Ferdinand, Rooney, Young and Cleverley all missing from the line-up. Great effort from the lads today.

To be honest with you, we have been fantastic today, and fair play to SAF. He knows what he's doing, thats 10 goals in out last 2 matches, and thats without Cleverly, Anderson, etc. We really are hitting top form!

Having said that, i couldn't help but get a little excited to see the Modric story today. With Carrick in the form that he is, pairing him with Modric would be absoloutly fantastic! Just having Modric in there would improve our depth in midfield, Modric Cleverly and Anderson as being attacking players and Fletcher Carrick and Jones as more defensive minded players.

And also i must say im delighted with West Brom's performance who have just become my sedond team haha! :D

Why the hell has Evra moved to CB? Fryers coming on for Evans is one thing but you'd assume Fryers would line up along side Carrick in the centre. I'd rather have 6'1 Fryers in the middle rather than 5'8 Evra who can't jump. This line up is getting stranger with every minute.

Man Utd,will definately be letting some players go this january maybe with a striker coming in.Carrick luks to have hit top form so no defensive midfielder coming in and with cleverly coming back and SAF set to hand Pobga promotion to first team to keep him from going then an attacking role is filled,so fergie knows wat he is saying wen he says he isnt buying in January...,he is covered...can u see Edd? {Ed002's Note - I once was blind, but now I see.}

well 2-0 up and wigan down to ten men i think i can safely say job done barring a christmas miracle. Although if we had a few more first teamers on the pitch it would have been a fantastic chance to close the gap on City. Were playing better than i thought we would with this line up though. Sammon can feel alittle hard done by, but considering our luck with injuries atm i'll take abit of luck on the pitch.

Hi Guys
Well Fergie has done it again.Hands up who thought both Valencia and Carrick would be in the back 4 and to cap that he plays Gibson. He has just made what should have been a shoe in 3 points into a tight game.I know the man is a genius and a legend but sometimes he just amazes me.
We still should have enough to win,but !!!!!!!

Come on then lads, what will be the line-up today? I think Giggs may keep his place due to the 5.0 and his goal. I also think Ferdinand could return unless stated otherwise? Perhaps a spot on the bench for Jones? Not had time to check the team news.

Now we all agree we need a new midfielder but as of yet we can't really agree what kind of midfielder we need, some say an AM others a DM me i say neither.

If we look at the role of an AM it's to play further up the field linking the midfield to the forward line, to create and score goals not to track back and defend.

Where as a DM's job is to shield the back four by making tackles and interceptions then moving the ball onto more expansive players in the team.

inorder to make these kind of players work you need another midfielder in there linking the two together. For example: DM-Gattuso AM-Kaka CM-Pirlo

Now this is the great Milan midfield from 4/5 years ago and it work brilliantly but IMO football has moved on from this quite ridgid one dimensional kind of line up. If you look at the best midfield in the world now: Busquets Xavi Iniesta then you'll notice it's much harder to fit them into the same roles as the Milan team. Kaka doesn't work defensively yet all the Barca players do Busquets does the shielding like Gattuso yet offers so much more with his passing range and vison, where as Pirlo was a more sit and dictate play Xavi is always on the move to find space. But all of the Barca players are comfortable doing any of the jobs in midfield they are much more complete players than those of the Milan side. This is how football has moved on.

Now if we look at the current United side we play 4411 as our best formation. We have wingers who are comfortable cutting in and staying wide we have someone to lead the line and Rooney being given the freedom to find space and use it most effectively. Now if you look at our midfield we only really play with two central midfielders so the Milan system of an AM DM and CM wouldn't work as were a player short. What we need is players who can attack and defend in equal measure or near enough. we need players who are full of running and movement who have great vision and awareness players who are much more complete than a typical AM or DM. Now we have one of those players in Cleverley although i would say he is more attack minded than defence minded so a perfect midfield partner for him would be a box to box type player who can get forward and has good vision but is abit more defense minded than Cleverley.
Someone like Martinez would be perfect but maybe alittle hard to get hold of.
Sandro would be good but is possibly abit too defensive.
Rodwell is another player who could do this role but is he too young? and what of his injury record.
If your looking for a cheaper option you could go for Cabaye or McCarthy but are they good enough.
Sissoko has been poor for the last 6-12 months.
And M'vila and Sven Bender are far too defensive.
Wilshere would be perfect but we have more chance of signing Messi.

So for me it has to be one of Martinez Sandro or Rodwell who are best suited to what we need. Also bear in mind that we have Pogba and Morrison coming through who are more suited to DM and AM and at which point you could see a change in formation.
