De Gea was top quality today fair play. He will have more ups and downs yet that's for sure but I can really see him becoming awesome with time

I thought Nani had his best game in a while today, actually put a few dangerous balls into the box

Another 3 points keeps the momentum going, we need to keep as close as possible to City as they have some tougher games coming up....

I'm glad about the hype surrounding James Rodriguez, he would be one hell of a player and i don't think he'd come at the same price tag as someone like Gotze. His buyout clause is 38 million, but i think he'd be our man for around the same money we spent for Young or Jones in the summer. He can play AM, LW or CM.

Add Benatia for 10 million who can play CB, RB and you have alot of positions covered.

After our last gasp win today, I hope we don't get carried away for Tottenham. In my opinion, if Giggs starts, we lose. We can't afford to have him giving away possession every time he receingves the ball, as is the norm this season. In my opinion we should go 4-5-1.

_________De Gea

Rafael_Evans_Ferdinand_Fabio

______Carrick_Scholes

__Valencia_Nani_Young

__________Rooney

This is provided both Rooney and Valencia are back. I also think the Evra will start, but don't think he should. This way, we have enough defensive cover in midfield to deal with Modric and Van Der Vaart and Rafael will have Bale in his pocket. We'll need the pace and defensive quality of Fabio to cover Lennon. This would be my ideal line up, opinions?

I've had a bit of a posting fest today, and i feel like i have a pretty good idea of what we need, but not necessarily a good idea of who. Gaitan, Benatia and Garcia would be penned in for me and i would back their transfers to the bitter end.

But i've just come across an interesting article on the Man Utd section of Bleacher Report. It talks about the possible Sturridge situation at Chelsea and whether he would be a good string in United bow.

I agree with the overall conclusion that they reach, which is 'yes'. In the future we could have a set up of Rooney, Welbeck, Keane and Sturridge, all of whom will go on to (or already are) starring for England. Add to that Hernandez and that is a fantastic set up.

What is also interesting, is that he is out of contract in summer 2012 and like many, doesn't get on with AVB. Its therefore led me to believe that he could actually come in and do a very good job for us, and i don't think he would be opposed to the move.

It has to be said, weldone to the last todays for grinding out the win. But the manner in which we went about it is unnacceptable for a team of our quality. I'm going to try to write this without sentiment and to be brutally honest about the team because in comparison to the top European teams, we are not up to scratch. I desperatly want us to win the League this year, however i do not want a League victory to paper over our frailties, of which i feel there are a few.

Its fair to say that we are a team in transition, over the next two years the majority of the experienced players will be gone (Park, Ferdinand, Evra, Scholes, Giggs), and the new blood that comes through has to be good enough to take over the mantle of these.

In goal:

- Hats off to De Gea, week in, week out now he is proving himself - that is why we bought him. I actually think that his improvement is ironically down to Lindegaard's injury as he has been able to have a steady run in the side, got used to the defence and the feeling of being our keeper. If he sticks around we are set for many years in goal, weldone SAF.

Defensively:

- I still think we are generally sound, when Vidic is fit which will still not be for a while. Weldone to Evans and Jones today as i think that they really kept it together. Ferdinand i think has lost his pace, its obvious, i think that this should be his last season (as a first team regular at least).

- Despite being generally sound at center back, I really hope that Mehdi Benatia's plea to come in is heard. He is so assured, had van Persie in his back pocket when Udinese played Arsenal and can fill at right back as well. A must signing for me at what would be a snip at £10 million.

- The left back slot is swiftly becoming a joke, Evra is atrocious. He has had one good game all season and that was against a very poor Arsenal side. I don't remember a good game that he has had in the past two years. By the summer he will be 32 and for me, he is well past it and needs to be replaced. I haven't a clue who should replace him though, thats the problem. Is Alba any better? Izaguirre? Maybe Santon or Cristico would be good shouts. I really don't know. For arguments sake, lets say Alba is our saviour.

Midfield:

- I don't think we can keep calling for Young and Nani's heads on here. Its so incredibly unfair, today they have made the balls that ultimatly won us the game. Along with Valencia we have a really solid crop of three players who are very able at that what they do. Valencia gives us great width and supply, Young is solid and Nani has the ability that very few have - game changer. I have a feeling though that we will add to what we have in the wide areas in the summer. Gaitan i think is the one as he is very versatile and is left footed. Milos Krasic could be a dissapointing target purely because he will be available at around the £10 million mark.

- Centrally, there are issues. We have the new 'Scholes' I feel in Cleverly, and i don't think we need a Modric type player to hinder his rapid progress. Anderson will come good as he showed at the start of the season and Carrick, Fletcher are good squad players. Scholes and Giggs are class but will soon be hanging up their boots. So a bit of quality in there is needed. Javi Garcia would be a wonderful signing, he is an out and out midfield general who would work wonders in our midfield. We wouldn't need him every game, but when we do i'm confident that he would do a wonderful job for us.

Up top:

- Look at what we have, Rooney who can do it all, Chicharito who can finish but nothing else, Welbeck who is very athletic and Berbatov who is in that Mercurical mold. We do have it all if you look at it, but Owen will be moving on, Macheda may not make it and Keane needs a loan to give him some experience. Berbatov may also leave, but i think if we are struggling for cash and can't afford a new striker then Berbatov will stay put and play 4th fiddle to the main three.

- A fourth top striker is preferrable to Berbatov staying though, if we have money which i hope we do, then i'd give anything to see Cavani here. It won't happen, obviously it won't. So i think Berbatov stays with a youngster coming in, Erick Torres, Pozuelo, Pulido, Rhodes are all options. Hard to say. I would like Alvaro Morata if we are going young, but if we aren't and have money lets go all out for Cavani!

So Ins (in an ideal world): Jordi Alba, Javi Garcia, Nicolas Gaitan, Edison Cavani.

Lets have some love for De Gea. World class today! Did not put a foot or should i say glove wrong. Nani and Young get so much criticism and yet those are the exact two players that provided the assists.

Giggs could have had a hat trick today! It was just destiny that he would score the late winner in the last few minutes.

Norwich is a difficult place to go to. Especially with Vidic, Valencia, Rooney, Cleverley and Anderson out. Coming away with a win on a kind of dodgy pitch was all i would have asked for.

Its results that matter at this time of the season, especially away from home, and we got it, to keep up the pressure on city.

i know evra hasn't been as good for the last couple of seasons but i think its mainly because out of the back line he's the one that always plays. There is no cover for him so he always plays and this is taking its toll. Fabio is always injured and Fryers is only just coming through. Meanwhile right back is constantly rotated. Rio is out more often than he's in. So i think constantly playing has had its effect.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

26 Feb 2012 15:49:07
Norwich away was always going to be a tough game, especially without our two best players this season and in 2009/10. Rooney & Valencia have been magnificent this season and we look bad without them. I think we scored when playing well and as soon as we scored we tried to sit on it. No tempo equals no goals. Yes we have injuries to keep players, but it's plain as day where we need to strengthen in the team, so come one lets get those players in during the summer.

As much as I love the fact that we're the type of club that never gives up, and can pull it out of the bag in the last few minutes. Today was another indicator that the team hasn't been moving in the right direction this year.

Let's start with Evra. Continually the weakest player in our team. He needs to be dropped, simple as. He has lost the pace and the drive required to be an attacking full back that's still capable of getting back and doing a job defensively. Hernandez, as much as I think his movement is exceptional, his inability to pass the ball with any degree of accuracy is worrying. The club needs to recognise this and alter his training because the amount of times he lost the ball today is unacceptable.

The main problem is that the team seem quite happy to try to coast to a victory instead of killing teams off. We showed during the last ten minutes that we could dominate the game, but for some reason we seem to need to be scared into playing attacking football. I understand that Rooney and Valencia were both missing but we still have enough to dominate Norwich. Once again we have to rely on our ageing stars to pull something out. And if De Gea wasn't on top form we would have lost.

This season I don't see the team going forward, I don't really see a team in transition. I see a team that is really struggling to dominate games against weaker opposition on a regular basis. Fergie isn't an idiot, he can see this too, so the fact that he hasn't done anything about it shows us that there is something major wrong behind the scenes.

To all the people that thought it's 'embarrassing' that we're still keeping hold of Giggs and Scholes.. Both got on the score sheet today and were two of our best players. They underestimate no one which is the right attitude, seems to be why when we field a younger team against these smaller teams we struggle slightly! I think watching the Spurs vs Arsenal match, I have proved my point that two little central midfielders doesn't work well against the bigger teams. When Arsenal started playing, Modric and Parker were over ran. To me, that means a midfield of Modric and Cleverly would be over ran - probably even worse than Parker and Modric are as Parker is generally more robust and combatative than Cleverly.

If Cleverly is the future then a strong player alongside him, especially in the big games is vital.

I'm criticised on here for mentioning names all the time, but i really do think that either Javi Martinez or Javi Garcia would be the best signing that we can hope for in the summer. They are made for our midfield and would finally fill the whole that i think Roy Keane left.

After watching Benatia a few more times i am increasingly more impressed by his play, his attitude and his desire to play for us. He'd be a great versatile option at the back for us. If we could get Benatia and probably Javi Garcia in the summer with a couple of others i'd be very happy indeed.

P.s. Can't wait to see what Sydney has to say about this, i'm sure he will still think that Modric alongside Cleverly is the dream pairing.

The lineup I'd like to see against Norwich if Rooney is fit:

----------------DDG------------
Jones----Smalling---Rio-----Evra
----------Carrick---Scholes------
Young--------Rooney--------Nani
------------Hernandez-----------

Young and Nani will switch anyway but I'd start Young on the right to see if he's better playing onff his stronger foot

If Rooney's not well enough then play Berba in that role

It's hard to pick between Hernandez and Wellbeck up front, but I'm plumping for Hernandez as he scored in both Ajax games and deserves another chance IMO after being isolated for much of the 2nd leg

Who is better Cavani or Aguero. Who would you have signed at the beginning of the season to partner Rooney in a two man attack. I am slightly edging towards Aguero because he is better on the ball and can roam around and swap positions with others more. However Cavani is so powerful scores a tonne of goals and is the only reason Napoli are in the champions league. So who is better and who would suit the Utd style of play more?

i do laugh at liverpool fans their not in the real world.

We had a record in the league over the last five years. But according to them it wasn't important. Now they are in the final suddenly its important.

We drop into the europa league and they again think its unimportant even though they have no
european football. Yet all you can get out of them is that if they win this afternoon they'll have european football. In the same europa league they scorn us for being in. Despite them not being good enough un get in the champions league.

We keep hearing that victory this afternoon will bring in a bright new glorious era yet we heard the same when houllier won their cup treble. Never happened. We heard the same when the waiter won the champions league and fa cup. Never happened. I've seen a succession of liverpool managers come and go throwing huge sums at average talent and fail to win the league but picking up cups promising new dawns. But your just a cup team nothing more and nothing less and have been for twenty years. Now go and enjoy your day in the sun and pipedown an let us get on with challenging for the league. And i'm sure you'll be back under yet another new manager in a couple of years on about another new dawn.

Aint gona wash anymore we've all seen the figures over 200m gone on the glazers debt which could have made the squad we know we all need!so don't lie tryin to cover them!admit you havnt got the money!in truth champ league showed our squad up,were 2nd caus of very poor chelsea&arsenal, the players we had when glazers came as carried us through now there gone&we can't replace with same quality! If you think Utd gona spend big ur fooling urself! Glazer time as caught up
