For all you people who are supporting Wayne Rooney on this site two words. Paul Scholes. Same team but a million miles apart in class.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There is supporting player Kloot, and I support Rooney, and then there is worshipping a player. There is not an athlete in the world I respect more than Paul Scholes.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair, there are very few players in the world who CAN compare to the class of Paul Scholes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't argue with that tbh

Agree0 Disagree0

The difference between u and me Kloot. We support same team but million miles apart in class.
Coz I support and love our players no matter what. and u always find a way to hate some of them. Hating is not the solution for our player to return to his best. u must know that

Agree0 Disagree0

Kloot
It's all starting to sound a bit desperate.

So if we sign fellaini which apparently looks likely. Is that how we are going to create a cutting edge by banging the ball up to his head? God knows if it is true, it may well not be but with Glazers it probably is - I would prefer to sign Ozil for 30 + mil if we have been offered him at that price. Cheaper option as usual!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm not sure the Glazer's have a say in the tactics, nor what player we sign for that matter. You're right though, it's probably their fault, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini and ozil are independent of each other pal, we could easily sign both and could do with signing both to be honest, it is certainly not a case of one or the other.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Ozils father/ agent says united and arsenal have bid for him

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah just like City lump the ball up for Yaya Toure. Oh wait they don't, because he's a freaking central midfielder, just like Fellaini is. Now get your head outta your ass and support your damn team instead of critisizing a player who would improve us no end.

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you compare 2 totally different kind of players. playing in totally different positions? Ozil is a creative Player there for Attacking Attributes. The Hair Bear Belgium is there to add Height, Strength and Stability to the Center of the Park. which i'm pretty Certain we can all agree we need. Just some would argue there are better options.

Personally, I am very pleased we are chasing Fellaini, He is too me everything we are missing. Ok he is not proven in Europe, this is his chance to. He has a great touch for a big lad, He can pass. Ok not to the scale of Ozil however he is not playing in a pos'n that is required. Yeah a bit dirty but come on be realistic, We all know The great Scholes and Keane Could Tackle. they chose not to on occasions. However all this said, I would like a more attacking minded Midfielder to join in Addition if possible, But not to see its as needed as the Fellaini.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pardoe where did you read that?

Agree0 Disagree0

OMG, that's definitely it.

We are signing Fellaini so that we can play him instead of RVP, Rooney, Wellbeck, chicharito & Kagawa.

Why didn't I see it for myself?

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini is just one peice of the puzzle I think he would improve us to the point of us winning the league again this year, however to fully compete with the best in Europe we need a little more creativity in a more advanced role.I think the way to get the best out of Kagawa is to have a like minded player around him and for me the one that would have fit the role perfectly would have been Fabregas unfortunately that will not happen this summer so next best imo would be Oezil.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 22:52:00
Just wanted to add my opinion on the Kagawa debate.
It seems a lot of people are frustrated with his lack of playing time and that he is thought of as an ideal creative midfielder we need.
My thoughts are, firstly that's not really his position and secondly has he really put in any sort of performance to warrant a regular position?
I know what this lad is capable of so maybe a run in the team would be good for him.
I have to say though (with a heavy heart) it might be time to close the curtain on our number 11.

Let me make one point very clear this is a banter site for United supporters. If you disagree with me you can call me any names you like or say whatever you like about me I can take it and now you are all named at least I can see who is with me against the Glazers or who is against me and with Sydney Honey Badger and the Glazers. But for God's sake stop whining and bitching about it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I disagree with most things you say but I'm against the glazers, just because someone disagrees with one thing that you say doesn't mean they are pro-glazer

Agree0 Disagree0

We all now you can receive Kloot, just as well as you give ;) To be fair, me and Syd have always left our name. I actually agree with lot's of your points just find it disconcerting that you hone in on the same old, same old negatives - even when they're not there to be moaned about! Credit where credit's due and all that.

Glad your not offended, banter is banter after all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kloot, we all respect your right to an opinion. But that opinion doesn't have to be respected. You are by far the most negative supporter I've encountered. You try to immune yourself from the negativity you spew with the folly notion that it comes from being a True red. The fact is, many people on here share some of your worries, but they understand that sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and support the lads no matter what. You get off on being the bearer of bad news. We got the message long ago, my friend.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 23:22:48
Your right, let's get rid of this negative cancer that is destroying the harmony at our club. So i'm now starting as blue and silver scarf campaign to remove Kloot from Old Trafford:-P lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Although I rarely agree with them; I do enjoy your posts!

Agree0 Disagree0

The point is KLOOT, us grown-ups can disagree with each other, without the name calling. That's just you.

Your memory returned over the replica tops yet?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 20:23:45
I know you are not the brightest bunch but would some of you Rooney lovers just take a look at the situation. At any point has the ungrateful buffoon come out and said he does not want to leave? Even today he might have said he will not put in a transfer request but that is what Stretford will not allow. He knows that if he is flushed out then the crowd will turn on Rooney. So he keeps him quiet even though every one knows he wants to leave.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Completely agree with you on this one, KLOOT. It wouldn't take much to say he doesn't want to leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

"I know you are not the brightest bunch" ahhhh the endearing Kloot is back in our midst. I don't care what other people say, you're OK :)

Kloot = ineffective lubricant

i.e. rubs people up the wrong way

p.s. in seriousness, I do believe that Rooney is/was at least interested in a move away but looks like he might be staying now, I bet that'll get you in an uplifting mood for the foreseeable future :/

Agree0 Disagree0

At any point has he come out and publicly said that he wants to leave?

It was pretty clear at the start of the window that the club were trying to force him out until other transfer targets fell through. Why would he risk putting off potential suitors by declaring that he wants to stay if the club still decide to show him the door?

Agree0 Disagree0

HB

He is staying because we are refusing to sell to a domestic rival and no one else has come in for him.

This is not a hate or love debate but just common sense. Even if he hands in a transfer request they will not sell him to chelsea and he will be a Pariah at the club. Anyone with some business sense can see this and this is not about love and hate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redseven

You are truly naive if you believe what you have posted. This thing started a long time ago and it has nothing to do with the club and it is the player and his camp. Going by your logic, everyone is a liar and deceitful from saf, rene, phelan etc and wayne is some poor innocent soul, I don't think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

God Created United

You are truly naive if you're unable to see that SAF's decision to publicly announce that Rooney had supposedly asked to leave was both vindictive and an attempt to turn the fans against Rooney.

In what way has it (SAF discussing private matters in public) been good for the club? It's unsettled Rooney, overshadowed SAF's retirement, messed up Rooney's pre-season training, made Moyes look a little naive with some of his comments, overshadowed Moyes' start at United. The list goes on.

Regardless of whether or not it was true; SAF's admission made it very difficult for Rooney to stay at the club and it is only due to the fact that no other signings have come in that the fickle fans who were calling for his head are now cheering for him once again. My guess is that SAF had still not got over Rooney's transfer request back in 2010 and decided to get his own back while he still had a chance.

Rooney has stated several times that putting in the transfer request in 2010 was the biggest mistake of his career. Why would he do it again? He wouldn't and hasn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redseven

Believe what you want and in this case I guess player over club, manager, and everyone else. It is very black and white as far as I am concerned and in the next few years/months the truth will eventually come out and one of us will be quite embarrassed.

I think Mourinho statements are very damning and in actual fact quite embarrassing for chelsea and Rooney and if anything goes to prove our club and the management have been pretty straight forward with their treatment of the situation.

BTW this thing is not over by a long shot and I DO NOT EXPECT HIM TO BE HERE NEXT YEAR.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bless ya redseven still portraying Rooney as the innocent victim in all this

We have a wonderful footballer than can play an iniesta type role in kagawa, iniesta has also played out of position on the left for barce

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2013 21:22:38
BVB have launched free-Kagawa campaign on twitter, they're not happy that Kagawa isn't being used and they want him back. I think we may lose the boy if we don't use him, how can we have such a classy/creative player like him and yet we don't see but instead prefer to be playing a player(Giggs) who is approaching 40. A cow does not know the value of it's tail until it's cut off: we didn't see the value of Paul Pogba until we lost him to Juventus

Kagawa is a creative and intelligent player that is Sylva, Mata and Iniesta esque. we saw glimps of that last season when ha came back from injury, the hat trick he scored check out the quality my my. We will make a big mistake if we fail to use him to his full potential and to our advantage. I think with his creativity in final third he would have made a difference if he replaced welbeck who wasn't really in the game against chelsea

I learnt Sylva of Man City was like that when he first came to premier league and look at him now. buddies we have a weapon we don't really take cognisant of, and I just hope we don't regret losing him

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Funnily enough the first year at dortmund he played 28 games at United he played 26

Agree0 Disagree0

Easy. Kagawa hasn't done as well as Silva and Mata have when called upon.

Individually speaking they are both better than Kagawa with a significantly vast array of talent. Silva's silk, class on the ball and ability to weigh a pass exceeds anyone in the premier league, while Mata is one of the most effective and well rounded creators in the world.

Kagawa lacks those abilities but that's not to say he can be just as effective as both. Kagawa relies on interchanging with other attacking players. That's why he shone at Dortumund. Kagawa has more football intelligence than both and given the right circumstances and players who can read an attacking move ( players like Goetze and co ) he can shine and show the worldclass form he did at dortmund

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree, great player. If we mess him around then that would be a tragedy and waste.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more apart from saying that we will regret losing him if we do!

Also I'm with Kloot on Cleverley and Rooney.

Just so everyone is clear, the reason for Madrid delaying on their Bale bid is because Levy won't accept their offer until they have paid for Modric.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No it's not. An agreement was made at the time of the Modric transfer in which Real Madrid paid the money over a set period of time. That agreement still stands.

The delay was initially down to Spurs wanting the majority of the Bale money upfront whilst Madrid were hoping to pay it over the course of a few years. From what I hear this has now been resolved - but Spurs are hoping to wrap up the signing of Lamela before Bale leaves.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redseven Trust me that's the reason. Spurs won't accept to be paid over a period of time for bale and modric. Modric debt has to be cleared first. Not one to brag but I probably know a lot more than you and what goes on behind the scenes. Just like I can confirm United did bid for bale 1 hour before kick off and the bid was made to force madrids hand so that other targets could become available. Also uniteds plan all along has been to keep rooney even if a bid was placed by madrid or barca he won't be sold. Not willing to say much more but if you want will speak to you over email and explain why I know so much.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lamela deal is done. They will anounce it tomm probably. I think the delay is due to other reasons.

NoMidfield, Nomidfield, wherefore are thou Nomidfield.

Come on mate, what did you think of last night? Particularly Carrick and Cleverley?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You're very excited I see! We need at least 2 CM's even if the pair above scored 4 goals each last night!

It was a good game for them, but I just don't see the reason for all this excitement. Cleverly didn't do anything special against Swansea but he played quietly good last night, so.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nick

I'm not excited, I'm just asking my mate for his view

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH.

dont be too excited. his name ( no midfield) still stands in a reasonable way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Morning ajh. Thank you for asking! I didn't want to post as there seemed to be some people who are intent on personal comments when in actual fact, they don't know me at all. We should all stick to the football banter. As it happens, any of these posters are welcome to sit next to me at a united match and they will realise what a freak I am when it comes to united. The season ticket holders around me all know me now as I'm forever singing and supporting the team. So when the poster said that I was a CRTISIZER and not a SUPPORTER, then I will like to say that he/she was talking out of the bottom orifice.
Anyway, back to the match, I thought carrick, cleverly (yes cleverly) wazza and Valencia did great when we didn't have the ball. We looked more compact as a team, and I have to give Moyes all the credit for that. Going forward was OK, but I wish we could have brought kagawa on instead of giggsy.
We have a gem in kagawa so I hope Moyes can trust him more and give him the responsibility to create for the strikers.
Other than that, I thought the team played well and tactically, we were much better than last year. If we can add a goal scoring midfielder and a defensive midfielder in this window, then that will be great. And I'm sure Moyes is doing his best to do so.
So all in all, I think it was a good day and a point is acceptable as the game was so early in the season.
This post is as long as shappy's posts ( who I always enjoy along with most of the other posters). Once again, thanks for asking my views!
Come on united, let's beat the scousers.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 19:40:20
If arsenal sign ozil and we end up with no one I would be gutted. As good as we were last night we had nothing in that final third. He is the sort of player we need as would be modric. Fellaini alone would not solve that problem.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2013 19:29:14
Anyone else excited about these few remaining days in the window? I --like many of you-- have been extremely frustrated with this window. We have all lost our marbles a tad.But with few days remaining in in the window, I feel there is a lot of hope in the air with all to play for. We all seem to be waiting for that first domino to fall (Bale). And when he does, let's pray that united have set the route for a couple of quality signings to drop our way.

I'm sure Levy would love to wait until the the eleventh hour (literally, in this case)to finalize the deal. The aim of milking Real of every possible drop, and also knowing the domino effect that will strengthen his perceived rivals.

With regards to the Rooney saga, It was a solid footballing performance last night. He gave it his all. But that was borne out of professional pride(where was that last year when he showed up out of shape) and not love for Manchester United. There is a difference;and that difference might be our undoing this year if we keep him. The Alternative is to sell him to a title rival. Can united really do that? It's a catch 22.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2013 18:44:09
Well a bit scared to come back on really as last time I did young Chris the REDman was going to let me have it with a venomous retort. Thankfully he didn't because he can be so nasty.

Anyways cr4p game last night but exactly what we wanted and showed again how lacking you boys are. Comes to something when you're all bigging up Cleverley one of the poorest players I've seen for a long time, you'd be better off flogging him to Palace and getting the young boy from Wigan, Lallana from Southampton or Barkley from Everton all great squad players who offer way more than Tom, first forward pass on 55 minutes and straight to Ramires, quality. Talking of Southampton they even have a better midfield than you and by a country mile!

Anyway should also apologise to Steveytrader as apparently I was being abusive using the words soft, lad, fat, knacker and lemon. Stevey you're obviously a delicate sole and I'm taking it you work nights as a donut puncher in Brighton.

GAGUS you nearly got there with your film review but unfortunately missed the reason for my particular name, the red ball. Close but no cigar.

Going back to the game, Rooney, do you or did you really think Jose wants him. Hmmm. Personally I'm thinking not but it's so obvious he doesn't want to be near Utd or Moyes it's painful.

See the bottler did nowt either and was amazed how slow that boy Jones is. Guess SAF saw the same thing in him he saw in young TOM. Exactly what I've no idea.

Also some of you guys should stop with the bleeding heart posts about DNA, ethos and history, like you're trying to keep the rebels in check and loved the way you ran one of your own out of town. Poor old Nomidfield. Seemed like a genuine guy to me just disallusioned with the club he loves and what's happening.

Finally GDS2 are you OK after getting owned by bond. Happens to us all mate, you'll be fine.

Oh when I said what we wanted, I meant you down the table, when you gottem down keeping down and keep knocking em down.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Come back in May MW, and we'll see who's on top.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't believe I just wasted my life reading that tripe. The last line about us being down the table, we are 3 points behind you with a game in hand lol, embarrassing.

Good effort with the banter though, I presume that's what it is because nothing you say can possibly be serious.

Me and Bond always have a bit of banter 'mate', it is what this site is all about isn't it?

You know that your boring side played with no strikers last night, if Rafa had left Mata on the bench all match the fans would have been writing RAFA OUT banners in the crowd. What time was the applause for di Matteo anyway, I must have missed that?

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha. yep we were that bad, the 'special one' spent all week trying to unsettle us before the game, came for a point as he was too scared our 'week midfield' would outplay you, and walked away having parked the bus.

Chelsea won't bridge the gap from last year this time.

Come back when your champions!

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you called Marcellus Wallace because you look like a b!tch?

Agree0 Disagree0

You must be so proud - the 'special one' has returned and seems to have attained his PSV badge to go with his coaching ones - the way he manoeuvred that bus across the hallowed turf was pure quality - his genius really does know no bounds - we'll still be here when the wheels inevitably come off that bus - enjoy the bumpy ride tho

Agree0 Disagree0

You look as embarassed as your manager, Jose "i'll play with 20 defenders" mourinho. You were battered last night, and extremely lucky to get a point as your "captain" John Terry pointed out. you point out Tom and Phil, just how crap were De Brunye, Shurrle and co?, i'm amused BVB ever wanted De Brunye because he's &hit.
100 million pound worth of attack and you couldn't get past a 34, 2x 32 and a "slow " as you say Phil Jones.
Dark times for you lot, given that your manager parked the bus (seems like Di Matteo left nice notes for him)
and a big LOL at Fernando Torres, I was left speechless by just how poor you lot have made him since he left liverpool.
so summing up
A Manager who lacks balls to attack
benched your twice player of the year, and never let his team out of thier own half.
Hell yeah the "special" one is back

Agree0 Disagree0

Zzzzzz zZzzzzz ZzzzzzzZ

Agree0 Disagree0

I've tried to ignore you so far, but you're like a fart in a spacesuit, there no avoiding you.

You seem to know a awful lot about us and spend a great deal of time on this site, perhaps we should seek an injunction.

Your Manager is a thug, you're more than welcome to him. I particularly enjoyed the thousands last night singing 'you wanted this job' as we all know he did and had to settle for going back to Chelski with his tail between his legs.

As for history and ethos, they are subjects you wouldn't understand. Try as you might, your history started with a Russian billionaire. Good luck for the future but you can't chnage your past. You could of course change your present but your club seems happy to be the most classless, soulless, empty club in the league. You and the happy one are a perfect match.

You can slate Cleverley and Carrick all you like but your incredible midfield got owned last night - if a player as 'average' as Cleverley can do that I don't hold out much hope for the rest of your season.

Take care Marcellus, if we're honest you are irrelevant. We have history with Liverpool, City, even Leeds, but you lot are just embarrasing.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 19:59:03
Yawn, do you know the difference between Manchester United and Chelsea? Its Class. And as you have proven yet again that you and your club lack it.

Come one lad, who seriously goes to their opposition to celebrate and brag about drawing against them?

So if your team has so much quality then why couldn't you beat us or even get the better of us? By your own admission our team is awful and full of average players. You have a great team with the supposed best tactician in the league and you couldn't even get the better of us.

Also do you think playing with a 6 man midfield is a little negative? It seems like your manager has more respect for us than you do, or at least his tactics and team selection seem to point that way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, whatever team you support I just wanna say thanks a bunch for being mediocre and allowing Cleverly and Jones to help us win titles. Appreciate it. Better luck next time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is there such thing as an intelligent Chelsea fan?

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't worry Marsellus. There are plenty of other Chelsea fans around that have had the same experience with a Zed of their own.

You're not alone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Marcellus that's a cheap post even by your uneducated standards, that's rite hide the fact u stunk out the place last night by again telling us how bad we were. Like ure posts mate ure getting predictable.
U better get used to games like that in the future with the 'not so special one' in charge, gawd can u imagine if Rafa had played that team?
LOL I see even some of your fans are against mour now! Really it can't be true can it? After all let's be honest, the only way ure club seems to be relevant is when he's in charge and goes some way of stopping u being the laughing stock of football.
I did like it last night when at some point mour's coach said 'we need to change it' and the 'self indulgent one' replied 'change what? How?' with a very glum looking face!
Also tell me wot hurts u more, the fact this does not seem to be the 2nd coming as planned or the fact no matter who u bring in they will still only inherit a crap defense and attack along with the side show that is Terry and frankie with there pretty assistant cashley?
Wont be long till he's cracking up again with no Rafa to save u again!
P.s I paid a visit to ure page earlier, who is this bas!cs fella? Is that normal on the Chelsea page to have fans that support Liverpool and chelsea together?
Now go away and get better at this stuff u cretin! Lol I can already guess ure witty response before u get to the bottom of this post!
ZING!

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice to see a Chislehurst Dynamoes supporter posting here. We should all aspire to greater things. Oh and please tell Mr. Lampard you have to stick both arms at shoulder height for a crucifix. He should take a leaf out of Mr. Terry's much loved impersonation of an England bowler when handling the ball in the penalty area.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am embarrased to go down to your level but Marcellus my friend you are a t**t.How you can come on this page and go on like this after your pathetic display yesterday beggars belief! as far as your ridiculous travelling circus of a manager he is nothing like as good as he or you bunch of blue clad people think, he was so desperate for the United job it was getting embarrassing but fortunately unlike you lot our club would never entertain that person let alone give him the biggest job in football.Btw leaving Mata on the bench was tactical genious;P thanks for that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who else thinks Marcellus will be telling his little chums tomorrow "you should have seen me last night, I absolutely owned these United fans single-handedly on the web"?

This thread, of course, proves very different.

Some great replies, NI Devil has to be in with a shot at best reply though, tickled me, lol. {Ed007's Note - I'd bet it isn't the only single-handed thing he has done on the web tonight, he won't brag to his mates about that one though.}

We seem to have a problem agreeing a fee with anyone a the moment - yet Newcastle have told Arsenal they can have Cabaye for £20m and Arsenal offering much less.

Could we sneak him in for somewhere in the middle? He would add to our midfield

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think he is worth £20m.

Agree0 Disagree0

But is 'something' enough? Not for 20m if u ask me

Haven't we had a good relationship with Everton historically with regard to transfers?

Bought -Rooney

Sold - Kanchelskis, Howard, Neville, and Gibson.

Don't understand why we cannot deal with them now.

Is it true that we had to apologise for the way we pursued DM? But wasn't he already out of contract with Everton at the end of the season anyway?

Seems o be a public falling out - and that makes it hard for Everton to sell to us without losing face.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Their moment in the sun, wouldn't worry about it. We will get what we want if we're prepared to meet the fee.

We won't be paying £45m - that's just madness. Suspect Fellaini will force his way out behind the scenes, Baines seems daft enough to want to stay there. Fair play to him, got to respect a "clubman" in this day and age, just expect Cole to start ahead of him next year at World Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Mourinho needs Rooney to formally ask for a transfer before they will make a third and final bid, can it therefore be assumed that he did not submit a transfer request in March as alleged by SAF? If this is the case then Rooney, in my opinion, deserves an apology from MUFC for misrepresenting his position and seeking to alienate him from the club's supporters.

I think that that SAF was quite possibly "getting his own back" for the 2010 episode when Rooney negotiated a new mega-deal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ferguson said he had 'asked' to leave

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank god somebody has pointed out what I've been thinking all day!

I think Rooney needs an apology from the club, and from all the haters on here! If its true that he has never asked to leave he deserves a lot of credit for keeping quiet after all that's been said against him and not mouthing off like Suarez all summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fergie never said that Rooney had handed in a transfer request, he said he wanted to leave, them two things are different.

I believe Rooney spoke to Fergie about leaving and it was Fergie's way of getting his own back telling the public that he wanted to leave, he never forgave him for the way he treated the club.

I don't believe Rooney wants an apology, that was just an excuse so that he could get away from the club, everything all summer has been to engineer a move and United have called his bluff. The whole 'upset and angry' episode about Moyes quotes that the press and Mourinho have now used as if they are true was all engineered again by Rooney's camp to get a move away from the club.

Sydney said in about March that Rooney would have to leave or sign a new contract this summer or we are in a bit of a tricky position with him going into the final 2 years of his contract. This is now going to be the case and we need to get it resolved or we will have the same stories in January and next summer that we could do without.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pretty widely reported that he did not formally ask, but suggested to Fergy that if he wasn't first choice maybe he'd be better moving elsewhere.

Don't think the club need to apologise.

Rooney either needs to knuckle down and play better, or request a transfer and move on. All this rumour from sources "close to" is getting silly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chris

I'm not a big Rooney fan but I do think SAF held a grudge and wanted to have the last word. A bit sad really but whilst we won the league, some of his pronouncements last year were a little cringy

Agree0 Disagree0

Leaving has clearly been in his mind after RvP coming in and stealing his position, think he fell out with SAF too. He could have come out and said "I want to stay the rumours are false" or "I want to leave" but the fact he hasn't I think means he's still undecided on what he wants and is in no rush to make a decision. Maybe now SAF isn't manager but infact Moyes is maybe Rooney feels more confident about being selected to start most games, especially big games. Time will tell!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh I agree AJH I was just pointing out fergie never said he handed in a transfer request simply that he asked to leave.
I have mentioned my stance on the situation many times. This could of been handled better by both partys. To be fair to u mate so have u. Tbh the way I look at it is, we need a worldclass replacement before we sell as it does seem Woodward can't seem to get a deal over the line as of yet, if we can't he stays advertises himself for 6-12 months then hopefully we can get that replacement.
Or he signs a new contract on less money as a sign of commitment to us and himself and the one i'm now thinking could be the best for both partys involved is the 2nd option.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 17:59:24
Tbh I dnt believd this Manchester United interest in bale. I think the reason moyes gave no answer is so madrid hurry up bale which will free up the likes of modric, who are ojr actual targets. Personally I hope we get ozil. After ronaldo he is their next best player

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Moyes was sheepish and avoided giving a direct answer in the Sly interview because it is in his interest to appear as though we are making offers for somebody like Bale.

There is not a chance we would pay the kind of money being talked about for Bale. RM and Bayern are the only clubs stupid enough to offer over £70m (although I wouldn't be surprised if City through an offer in as well).

Agree0 Disagree0

That's because there is no interest. No way we'll pay the 85 Madrid are offering (apparently) I would love to see Ozil here too

Agree0 Disagree0

First time poster, love the site.
Been spending a lot more time reading people's opinions on here throughout this window, as I suppose the possible transfers have not been as clear cut and obvious as in recent seasons.
I think most people realise that our main need is a creative midfielder. I suppose Modric would be a good choice but if I remember correctly he turned us down for Real Madrid. Maybe it's just me but I don't really want a player joining if we're his 'backup option' if you like. I think Ozil would be a great signing but also rather unlikely. I'd really like to see Gundogan sign for us but to me this is even more unlikely.
I think a second midfielder such as Fellaini to add a bit of steel would be good, but should definitely not be prioritised over a creative midfielder.
I really have no idea who we are going to sign before the end of the transfer window, but I'd put money on Fellaini joining. I think another player will join too but that could really be anyone.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well Ozil turned us down when he went to Madrid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Liam

Welcome to posting, I agree about Modric but like you, I have no idea who we will end up with. Hopefully someone

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Liam welcome:) Out of all the reported targets for the advanced midfield option I can only see Modric as a real possibilty not entirely sure how I feel about it as I have never been his biggest fan and think he is only a short term solution. If we can get Fellaini and add a bit of steel(and around 10/15 goals I suspect) we should hold tight and make our biggest deals next summer(Shaw, Gundogan, Draxler) and possibly a striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 17:00:32
I think at least 2 players will be signed before the window ends, 1 being Fellaini and the other being either Fabregas/Modric/Ozil

I for one would be delighted if this happened

What do ye think lads? Eds?

Also happy it looks like Rooney is staying

Believable0 Unbelievable0

One of them 3 and Fellani and i'd be very happy! Chuck in a left winger too and i'd be ecstatic maybe a rues type player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini looks like a certainty.

Personally I'd love to see us sign Ozil and Khedira instead.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 16:40:32
Guys, we've spent about 2.5M this window so far. I can't see nothing happening if we are chucking 35M about for Fabregas. I said earlier Bale is the obvious key to the transfer merry-go-round this week. To that end I'm going to get the crystal ball out. Bale obviously to Madrid (once advertising rights are agreed), Modic and Fellani to us with Nani to Roma. Cannot see Ozil being allowed to leave.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Looks like they'd be more likely to accept a bid for Ozil rather than Modric with Alonso missing 3 months with a broken toe.

Personally can't see either one leaving though.

Hey eds, I was just wondering, is there an England banter page, or any plans for one, where we can discuss squad/team selection with supporters from a variety of other clubs? Cheers {Ed007's Note - There was one but it wasn't very popular (usage wise). It might be something we will look into again, I'll keep you updated.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bond, don't know if you did this previously but it might help if you post reminders of its existance in the run up to England games.

Also, would we be able to to use the same log in as on our club pages? {Ed007's Note - Yes it would still be the same log in.}

I've been hearing/reading a lot of rumours over the course of the summer regarding potential signings, so I'm just wondering if anyone real believes that United will bring in new players before next Monday?

Just interested to see what people really think.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would honestly be amazed if we didn't get at least 2 players in.

The time is falling away and still no signings come on David Moyes work your magic

Modric, ozil, fabregas, Fellani etc all rumoured purchases to help us be more creative in the middle. Why not play Kagawa who given match time is as talented as they come and will be a world class player!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kagawa doesn't play in the middle. He favours no.10 in the hole

Agree0 Disagree0

Look further down the page mate, you'll get your answer ;)

Improved bid is going to be made for Fellaini, hopefully it will be accepted and I also like to see UTD make an offer Ozil.

Fellaini and Ozil will be class in our midfield

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2013 15:32:56
Just read Dortmund have set up a twitter campaign to urge kagawa to return to Germany. If they're so interested couldn't we be involved in some sort of swap deal with either gundogan reus or lewandowski?
Reddevilll

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Or maybe we could flex our muscles back at them and have a quite word and politely tell them to stop tapping up our players?

Agree0 Disagree0

Kagawa is exactly the kind of player we need in our team, we just need to let him get fit and give him game time. He's got one of the best first touches and short passing ability in our whole team, we saw just a glimpse of what he can do against Norwich last season. Just give it time, like SAF said last season Shinji will be much more influential for us this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is no different than the group of United supporters who tried to raise money to re-sign Ronaldo. It will be about as effective too!

Agree0 Disagree0

No point trying for Lewandowski when he obviously only has his heart set on Bayern, considering he supposedly claimed he turned us down aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 14:25:24
We need to push the boat out and sign Ozil as last night showed that up front and in defence we are sound. Come on and Sign Him Up!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kagawa would have done a job yesterday as much as Ozil might have!

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 14:04:49
So what do people think, with 6 days left in the transfer window left will United make any signings .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think it'll be Fellaini and Baines I don't think we're after anyone else! I like Fellaini and I know they'll improve the team but I'd love to see one top quality midfielder come in I can't see it happening though and I don't think we're even trying to be honest!

Agree0 Disagree0

In an ideal world, yes. Preferably, Oezil, following which I would tolerate Fellaini.

In reality, probably not.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think just Fellaini will happen. If Rooney leaves then perhaps a move for Oezil. Baines seems too expensive especially when we cannot offload Ev. So for me I think it will end up being just Fellaini if no more players leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

My guess is that we will see Fellaini and nobody else.

A little depressing really given our supposed 'unlimited funds'.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 14:46:31
Guys the transfer window is coming to an end, can we see any signings coming in? Moyes has given it the unlimited funds talk again, sounds like its gone quiet on fellani and baines, would love to see ozil, but a think will not sign anyone this window,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Another approach has been made for Fellaini. The deal could even be concluded in time for the Liverpool match.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 15:23:08
Where do you guys think Rooney will be playing in 3 years time? Next year he will be on his last year of his contract and we basically have 3 options: sell him for a cheaper fee than we would have got this year, let the contract run out and get nothing or sign him to a new contract that his agent will never agree to a wage cut. I hope the club have a clear strategy because it seems to me that if we don't sell him now that we have to commit to him for the next 4 years. He is going to demand the same salary.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Based on what his willingness to stay would be. SIGN HIM UP. Irreplaceable.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 15:22:13
Mostly impressed by Mr. Moyes yesterday expect the fact that he could have got Kagawa on instead of giggs, but its ok
and of all the things Jose said before the match, he now looks like a real big fiasco by benching their double player of the year, getting a 5th defender on and making his team play in their own half for most of the match.
"Special one"? It takes someone really special to do that. The look on his face said it all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2013 15:07:48
The end of the transfer market is approaching and I can't wait. Tired of all these impossible chasing and talks about who we'll get or how much money we have to spend.

DM has his targets and I believe he's trying to bring them, the only thing I question is the timing and there're few players that you must go for them if they become available, i.e Ozil(if available).

In the other hand we look more composure than last season, we look good as a team and a player like Ozil, Fabregas or Mata would be the cherry on top of the Sundae. Fellaini/Kondogbia kind of player would give us more muscle and strength.

6 busy days ahead.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2013 13:51:48
can anyone please tell me why kagawa isn't getting any game time he's a really good player and he's not got any time on pitch yet why?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's more or less because he only had a couple of weeks off during the summer because of the confed cup and then joining up with the rest of the team in Japan. It's only two games in, people shouldn't panic.

Agree0 Disagree0

He had a relatively busy summer - but I'm wondering whether Moyes isn't a fan. It seems odd that he would pick Giggs over Kagawa both yesterday and last week.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lacking match fitness after being given an extended rest after his international with Japan. He made the bench last night and I expect him to feature against Liverpool. He will be a regular this year, no doubt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not 100% at the moment. He cut his summer break well short by playing in the Japanese fixtures pre-season. So he hasn't been playing and will not do so until the manager thinks he's had sufficient rest. He was always going to have a late start to the season. I think Rooney will play against Liverpool due to his hatred of them and I think the Palace game could be the first time we will see Shinji.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know, Moyes were saying about how we lacked the final pass and he brings on giggs when kagawa is on the bench.

Just look at his passes at Dortmund and that says it all.

And he plays in the role which we are lacking.

Unless he's not fully fit but then why is he on the bench

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that's rubbish to be honest, plenty of other players had a busy summer and are back playing.
God knows what we are going to do next year after the world cup .
Kagawa hasn't even played a single minute he can't be that tired.
Imo it's tactical been saying it for a while

Agree0 Disagree0

I would use kags in a swap for gundogan

Agree0 Disagree0

Jred, it's not rubbish. He joined in pre season much earlier than other players that were involved in the confed cup because he wanted to play in Japan. Then he also had a friendly match against Uruguay.

If you remember he came on for Welbeck in the community shield with 10 minutes to go and did not look match fit at all or are you not counting that?

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope it's tiredness or whatever but I'm starting to think it may be tactical, as jred says. He's been fit enough to be on the bench yet not been involved at all? Does seem slightly strange.

Hopefully Moyes is just using the usual suspects to get us through the tough start we have then will integrate him more as time goes by, perhaps as he works out how best to use him.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 13:38:52
Like Moyes said it was only that final pass that was lacking and Rooney did come close to unlocking the defense a couple of times. No problems with him if he keeps playing like that.

Has anyone else noticed that we keep the ball a lot better under pressure now under Moyes than we did last year? The intensity of our play and speed of passing has also increased. We are pressing teams a lot higher.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Absolutely agree RedFaith our intricate passing and swift movement of the ball is most encouraging.I have to say aside from the 5/6 bigger squads in the league I really cannot see us dropping many points, if Moyes knows anything it is how to organised and follow a game plan I think this will be our major strength this year, we will not only be capable of scoring plenty of goals(providing we strenghten in needed areas, which I think we will)we will be a nightmare to beat.I am very impressed with our first 2 games and I think and hope we will be a force to be reckoned with this season .
So far DM is looking ok for me I also like his persona with the media he seems relatively approachable but can also see when a line has been crossed and does not entertain the nonsense! I am much happier now than a couple of weeks ago I know that much.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 13:28:04
Lot of reports Bale to United, this has got to be the most ludicrous statement of the transfer window.

I certainly hope we don't pay 90m for him he's not worth it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I cannot believe people believe it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I still can't believe it's not butter

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest Syd! I don't have a clue what to believe in this window! The one thing that seems glaringly clear is that Bales transfer is holding up a pretty precarious house of cards that will come crashing down the moment his deal is sorted. I have a gut feeling that Fellaini is almost a certainty but asides from that not the foggiest :(

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be very surprised if we bought Bale now. I really don't think he is worth £86m, he isn't in Ronaldo's league. £45 to £50m may be. Reported interest in Bale from us or other parties is likely rumour put out to pressure Madrid to improve the deal with Spurs. Spurs play hardball but it may suit us to be linked for various reasons. It could get Madrid to sort it out quickly and then we may be able to pick off a player from them. I truly hope that isn't Modric. Also we like to be seen to be interested in the best players at a time where we have to buy them

Agree0 Disagree0

Bayern are the 'other team' who put in a bid for Bale. He's still going to RM though.

Agree0 Disagree0

It will never happen, it's a done deal to Madrid, spurs are keeping hold till they sign 2 players one bean mata and the other lamela, levy won't let him go so spurs don't get charged silly money

Agree0 Disagree0

Red Man

I don't think he's worth that amount either, 25 - 30 million. There are far better players who have gone for less or similar amount. Bale is overrated and its because he's British, its ridiculous.

Totally a waste of money. I would be more disappointed in getting Bale for 30m than Fellani for 25m.

The trouble is mate this is football.
We all have different opinions about it.I personally could not stand John Oshea I heard a lot praising him at OT and just could not see what they thought was good about him other than he could play in a lot of different positions, it was true but not very well in any of them IMO.I do not like Cleverley or Wellbeck just think they are very average. But hey they get picked for England and United so it must be me that's wrong.I cringe when Giggs is brought on.A united legend of course but way way to old to make a difference now.IMO should have retired 3 years ago. Some people will now be up in arms I have slagged Giggsy off others will agree with me.This is why we have an input into sites like this go to old Trafford, slag them off, love them, think the manager is wrong for not buying him or wrong for buying the other one.I have been going to Old Trafford for over 60 years, seen the greats, the not so greats, stood on the Stretford end before it got a roof. When United were playing crap you could always watch glovers cables play if you stood at the top of the Stretford end.Their ground was behind it. Love it Hate it but can not live without it
WOULD YOU REALLY WANT IT ANY OTHER WAY

I washed David Peggs car

I would not have it any other way mate.

That is why I will argue that clevs only had a 6/10 at best ;)

Lads can we stop with the Kloot hating, His views and opinions are his own, doesn't mean we should openly talk about not responding to him if you don't share his opinions. He may be negative but his views and opinions are allowed because that's what this BANTER site is all about.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree JaMax. I always read Kloot's posts with interest and sometimes with a wry chuckle.

Variety is the spice of life, they say, and I like a difference of opinion on this site. After all, if we all felt exactly the same way, this site would not need to exist, would it!

Agree0 Disagree0

JaMax, it's not the opinions people have a problem with (alright, some do, but I actually agree with a lot of his sentiments on various issues).

It's the childish name-calling and abuse that annoys people. If the rest of us can have a bit of banter, even an argument, without resorting to that, and just using a bit of wit, then it's surely not too much to ask a grown man to do the same. He doesn't even do it with a bit of humour, it's all keyboard-warrior aggression.

Aggression on a keyboard, is usually the last refuge of the cowardly, bully-boy.

I was even considering letting my 12 year old make the odd post on this site, (strictly vetted of course) as he's a fairly level-headed, intelligent lad for his age.

Wouldn't let him now though, just in case KLOOT, the self-appointed guardian of the spirit of Manchester United, decided to take exception to one of his enthusiastic little thoughts about shirt numbers or favourite players. Mind you, I think even a 12 year old would soon see through him.

I think even he realises that no-one, certainly none of the grown-up regulars, takes him seriously anymore, which is a pity, because underneath all the ignorance and bluster, he occasionally comes out with a good point. {Ed007's Note - We really don't want the sites over-ran with kids. They are, and always have been, aimed at adults. The amount of garbage sent in rises significantly every time the schools are off.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I appreciate that 007. Which was why any of his posts would have been strictly vetted.

Like I say, he's an intelligent enough lad who plays at a decent level, so he can discuss tactics and team formations. I'd be more worried about his flippin' text-speak, showing me up!

I let him look at the site from time to time - he already knows who he'd have to steer clear of talking with :) {Ed007's Note - Get him to ask Syd for pocket money advice.}

Agree0 Disagree0

". Level-headed 12 year old. "

Oxymoron of the day.

Next year it will be 'brain-dead'.

Clevs proved yesterday that he can be a squad player for us and that too a good one.

He was very good yesterday in keeping possession and passing as well as in his defensive work but what he clearly lacked is the ability to find that killer ball to split open defences and throw a Rooney or Rvp open in front of the goal.

Had Fabregas or Modric or Ozil been playing yesterdays game they would have done that. Fabregas might not have done as much defensive work as Clevs but he would have created at least one goal for us.

Modric and Ozil on the other hand have very good work rate and can find those killer passes as well.

Just proves that Clevs is a good squad player but i'd rather have a Modric or a Fabregas or an Ozil starting in his place in these big games.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nobody is doubting that Cleverley is a good squad player he just isn't good enough to start.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 12:19:00
Where is this Clevs love coming from?

I seen someone post we had signed Fabregas he was just playing in Clevs top jeezo.

I have never seen such blinkered eyes watching a performance in my life.

What was it someone put? 91% success rate? Well that's pretty damn easy when you continually give it back to the same player that has just passed you the ball! I could do that.

Last night did nothing but highlight how sh*t our CM is. We didn't dominate Chelsea's CM our CM's were hardly near theirs as all it took was the slightest pressure from 1 CAM of theirs and our passes went back, no looking up, no imagination, no trying to turn a man, nothing! Both our FB's had more forward passes individually than both our CMers put together.

Carrick was far better of the two but christ there was a massive gap between their CAM and CM and only Rooney dropping 20 yards allowed that space to be used. Clevs big problem is he hides behind opposition players when playing medium or big teams. Umpteen times he gave Jones the ball then hid behind the Chelsea man where there is no option of the ball. Its called pass and move not pass and hide.

Don't get me wrong I am not saying he had a terrible game or anything but he did nothing to stand out for praise. 6/10 IMO maybe that's me being generous too.

Rooney well was always going to happen. Fired up for the game wanting to show the fans like us he still has it but these same fans know he has it but the problem is it has taken the build up to this to get that performance from him. What about next week when he doesn't get the move he wants? What about the rest of the season when RVP is firing? What if he gets asked to play wide?

Toys out again? Dummy on the floor? Phantom injuries?

I don't care how well he played in one game (1 out of 50 is hardly worth 250k a week) I would still sell him.

Again I am not slaughtering him but he did not do anything majorly of note. He made a few good runs, he was the only player in CM that came looking for the ball, he chased back well (In lb position again I might add) and he sprayed a few long balls about. Hardly took the game by the scruff of the neck or dominated them in all areas did he?

Played well? yeah bout 7-8 out of ten max.

Positives IMO were our defence played really well, Toni played well final ball still a bit wayward and Young looked bright when he came on.

Kagawa? I really hope Moyes knows what he is doing with him as I cannot fathom why any sae manager would have thought Giggsy was a better option than Kagawa when Chelsea were sitting deeper and deeper.

On that note two things I think Jose got spot on. Team selection was to show Rooney where he would fit in his team and tactics also had both CMers holding in front of their defence making sure Rooney had to drop deep and not influence the game the way he wants to (up front). Well thought out IMO and I am sure the post match interview and now the ultimatum today is just piling the pressure on Rooney to hand in the request and get the ball rolling as he knows that's the only way the fans will turn against him now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hmmm, given your track record with ddg I'm not sure what think ;-)

Only messing, I see your point on cleverly he just did ok, played his part, was competent without being great.

I think some posters feel the need to overly big him up because of the level of abuse he gets on here. Some of the things I've seen said about him are ridiculous tbh.

I think, and hope that fabregas remark was a joke? I found it funny personally.

Agree0 Disagree0

A very poor post.

Agree0 Disagree0

Both players had a good game last night. That is a fact, not opinion. Why can't they be applauded for it and then everyone move on and look forward to the Liverpool game? If they both play that well all season and we buy a midfielder or two and a LB we will win the league again. Hopefully Hernandez, Nani, Rafael, Anderson, Kagawa and Zaha can all return and put in a good shift. Six players that are yet to feature this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually thought Cleverly was better than usual I also didn't think he was good, 6 out of 10 is bloody good for him tbh

Agree0 Disagree0

Jono, you very rarely appreciate what you've got until it's gone. I fear where we'd be without Rooney's 20+ goals and countless assists a season.

Frankly I think the way he's being treated by certain fans is disgusting. Rooney has been central to Manchester United's success in recent times but many of you are happy to forget that and sell him to the highest bidder. As I've said before, be careful what you wish for.

Agree0 Disagree0

HB and Syd!

The point is this hype has poured over since the Scotland game and seen as how I was on the other side for a change I showed multiple people the comments on here about clevs performance against us and every single one said 'he played one good ball'. That was it!

I have nothing against cleverly at all apart from the biased bumming of him as he has been with us from youth. We would not buy clevs simple as that and he is probably at his level but three players had good games IMO last night Rooney, Toni and Vidic.

My point on the midfield is totally valid. We still pap ourself with the ball when threatened with pressure. Watch the game again as I have done this morning and seen exactly as I have posted.

Syd

If a 6/10 performance is good enough for you then that's your opinion, not fact mate.

Rumpy

Rooney scored regular goals with the odd one being spectacular, that IMO is easily replaceable with the chances we create. Rooney is not the be all and end all mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

The cleverly, fabregas post was written in jest.
But then, its good that you slate him, every player you slate goes on to have a top season with us, DDG the most recent example.
Moving on, I agree with Sydney, poor poor post.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't understand why people dislike Cleverly so much.
I can only put it down to the fact that a lot of supporters want a creative midfielder and to strengthen generally and Cleverly is almost used as the scapegoat.
Personally I rate him, he may not have 'hollywood' passes in his game but his movement off the ball is great, always in space, he wants the ball and keeps the game flowing.
Happy to see him at united, Loves playing for us and has no ego.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jono, Cleverley and Rooney both played well, that is a fact.

I have been hoping for a midfielder or two for years now and would love the club to buy a Cesc Fabregas or Mesut Oezil.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

In his 9 seasons at the club rooney has only scored 20+ league goals twice the other 7 seasons his average is about 13.i would be very upset with any decent forward not getting that sort of goal return considering he used to take penalties as well.i would prefer him to stay but not if he's going to sulk, he is not irreplacable and my own opinion is he will still go this window.too much talking being done by chelsea who must have had some encouragement from someone

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2013 12:14:14
Reports are saying Rooney will not hand in a transfer request, finally looks like Wayne will be staying, now I probably get a lot of hate and disagreement but this is possibly the best bit of news well have this summer, absaloute legend for man united and we wouldn't look right without him in our team. He keeps the team ticking and we don't have any sort of replacement.

I just hope he decides to sign a contract extension and continues doing what his doing and breaks the goal scoring record

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hook line and sinker

Agree0 Disagree0

I have long been an advocate of keeping Rooney and certainly not selling him to Chelsea.

I think barring everything else that has been spoken about here at length that Rooney needed a spark to kick him on to fire him up again. He may have felt Mourinho and a new challenge there would have given him the new challenge he needed when actually, maybe, he could find that challenge with us. It is nothing to do with how much we pay, it is a matter of fact that pay is a hygiene factor, look it up. Yes we all want more but it isn't high in motivational terms. There are mental challenges and maybe he has found s new one that doesn't involve Chelsea. I hope so.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Red Man! I love the fact you have brought some real management theories in to this, I agree with your analysis on rooney and Herzberg's motivation-hygiene theory, Rooney isn't after hygiene boosts like a wage increase he wants more self growth with his football, he just wants to play, he saw how he can do that with united last night, he isn't going anywhere!

We do not need a creative midfielder we have KAGAWA how he hasn't played in our 2 games is a joke.

We are clearly lacking something in the centre of midfield and kagawa was bought last year to fill that gap.

Numerous games he's played in the wrong position and why moyes brought giggs on instead of kagawa again is a joke.

New manager but imo same old crap when it comes to the team selection.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kagawa is not the creative midfielder who can dictate a game and more a one 2 neat stuff and link up. We need someone in the mold of scholes, pirlo, Fabregas, Xavi who sit in the middle of the pitch and distribute and dictate.

Kagawa is our version of a poor man Iniesta and very different to what we need. It has been the missing piece for 4 or 5 years now, which coincides with Scholes loss of dominating the midfield not from a physical sense but from a control and possession sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think he is fully match fit, the same problem that Hernandez has. He was given extended leave after the international stuff they were involved in and so therefore started pre season much later than everyone else. I imagine Kagawa will play some part of the Liverpool game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fresh, Kags got extended leave and featured during pre-season for the Japanese fixtures. It was good of him to cut short his break but something the club needed him to do due to the fact he's a god in Japan. So he was always going to start the season late and with the difficult fixtures it would be hard to chuck him in for match fitness. Palace game I think we will see both Zaha and Kags feature.

Come on Levy get Bale sold to Madrid so we can start shopping! This is obviously the start of the expected crazy week ahead. On a different note, Jose is obviously desperate with his deadline rubbish. Who does he think he is? Rooney is staying and we will be getting Fellani and a Madrid cast off.

If we signed Ozil and Fellaini how would we fit them into a starting line up. I think Cleverly would make way because as good as he is he isn't good enough. He is "Safe" in the same way that Carrick is, but can we play with two players in that mould. So do we play Fellaini and Carrick and Ozil on the left? But then what of Kagawa.
I think we need to offload Valencia. I think there is a mixed reaction to him at the moment. He has lost that confidence, that drive to beat his man and whip in crosses. Ashley Young did it in the 10 mins he was on last night.
I think last night was crying out for Kagawa or Zaha. Someone to do something slightly "exciting" or different.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Carrick is the best midfielder in the league although I really like the look of Spurs new guy Paulinho.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a squad game mate, we would need all of the players mentioned, not just a first 11.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I totally agree, but all summer people have been asking for signings. We are looking at Cesc for £35m, Ozil for the same. Would you say they were squad players? No they are 1st teamers. So someone has to drop down. i'd say Cleverley. Yes he played well last night but he is so conservative and riskless. It suited last night, but when we need that bit of creativity where does it come from? Giggs. Carrick. Anderson. Exaclty. None of them have it.

As I sit on my sunbed mulling over last nights game I found it interesting how afraid of losing Jose was. He set his team up not to lose and the lack of a striker could almost have been a job advert for Rooney. Tactically we are far tighter than the team we put out last season who got overrun against Chelsea at home right through the middle.
Most things have been said already however whilst it is easy to pinpoint lack of creativity we suffer by a lack of goals from midfield and appear to rely too heavily on RVP or Rooney. Tight games need top players to make the breakthrough and it can't always be RVP. We all know our midfield needs major attention in two areas but we must consider the goals aspect. Carrick rarely scores but I can forgive him that for his very high consistent level of performance. Cleverley doesn't add enough to the threat of our team and worthwhile squad player he may be first choice he should not. Our great teams had goals from all areas Keane, Giggs, Beckham and Scholes all contributed and it was in tight games like last night where teams are defensive that the breakthrough could come from elsewhere and we don't have that threat. We now don't have enough goal contributors in midfield and that needs to be resolved.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Although I agree we need to see more goals coming from midfield and IMO Cesc would have been a great signing for that very reason. When Scholes played the role of Cleverley and Keane played the role of Carrick they only scored around 8 each season on average between them. Last season Cleverley scored 4 and Carrick just 1. So we clearly need more goals so you do have a point Red Man. Cleverley will get better and will score more goals, but I think he will never get to the level of Cesc. As MU we should be looking for the best so I would welcome Cesc with open arms, not sure he is transferable mind, but hope he is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney

Cleverly is scared of trying a telling pass and passes the responsibility back to others and he will never be half the player fabregas and purely because he does not have the tools. They are almost the same age mate and that shipped sailed a long time ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good points by both of you. We could do with a couple more goals from cm but a whole lot more from the wings and am.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shahram, he is safer than i'd like him to be as I have stated many times on here, I actually expected him to kick on a little more than he did last season, but it was still his first full season as a MU player and England player. Like I said he will improve and with be a good player, but I have never been against signing a midfielder or two.

One thing I never understand. When we take throw-ins sometimes almost nobody presents himself in a easy position for the thrower. It becomes very clear when a team is pushing and marking very closely. Yesterday, we lost out some throw-ins even in our half esp from evra end. Other good teams have 2-3 players willing to recv the throw thereby giving the thrower options.

Well, I thought it was a very dull game, but a point and a clean sheet is a good result against Chelsea. I think that has got Moyes off to a very good start at home. Rooney played well I thought, a little lacking at times and he didn't look fully right but he was better than expected. Cleverly and Carrick were great too, really controlled the midfield. I am looking forward for Fellaini coming in actually because none of us know how good he could be when surrounded by top players. The Oezil rumour is picking up pace as well, he seems to be a real possibility - I hope we go all out to get him. If we spent around £50 million collectively for Fellaini and Oezil that would be a fantastic summer. As for departures, the only likely one to go out I think is Buttner on loan - I think Moyes will give Nani a season. 13 million Euros is a pathetic fee so we may as well have him for a season and see how he does - he could flourish under a new manager.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fresh 13 million is good fee given that we might see him get 10 to 15 games. That works out to about a million a game if you take his wages into account. He will end up going on a free and get a hefty sign on bonus.

With zaha and young in the side and Valencia clearly first choice for the bigger games in a league that we genuinely have 6 or 7 teams who will take points off each other, very hard to see when he plays and it will end up being against lesser teams, which you would argue what is the point of keeping him and jim adnan the opportunity to play.

I have to admit some of Kloots comments I agree with
Cleverley hard working midfield player lacks vision and goals. His final pass is very often negative backwards rather than defence splitting.
Rooney. In my opinion has flattered to deceive.Has scored great goals yes and quite a few for United but is he the great player that most people think. His first touch is now a bit suspect and his pace is on the decline.Good player yes but great one hmmm not so sure.If he really wants to go then maybe now is the best time for all parties.
Wellbeck lots of pace but just does not cut it for me.Not a natural in front of goal.I just cannot see where we can play him.Not a striker not a midfield player.sorry guys just not for me.
Valencia.Loved him when he first arrived but since his injury he just does not beat his man and get the ball over.Slows the game down completely.Berbatov did that and was sold. The only difference Berbatov kept the ball had great vision and could score goals.
Do not want to sound too negative guys because we still have a decent team.Maybe good enough to win the league again this year.Europe that's another ball game I think we are a mile off the bayerns and Barca.
How I am praying for a world class midfield general plus a battler in midfield. The spin offs if we got them is maybe our young up and commings may just come on a bit and fulfil the promise they have shown.

I don't know why people are worrying about Rooney shooting when he could have passed to RVP. If he has a shooting opportunity he should take it. That's what strikers are there for.

Rooney's performance overall was good but it wasn't world class as some are suggesting. His work rate was terrific, and his long passing was really good. His first touch let him down a bit at times (which might be rustiness with his lack of games but was a problem all of last season too) and his short passing remains a little suspect at times - he has some great ideas but doesn't appear to be able to execute them (again, this could be lack of match sharpness but was a problem last season). The area where he appears to have improved over last year is that he looked like he stuck to the plan this time. It was probably an 8/10 performance overall which, given his lack of pre-season football, is very promising. However, I'd add 2 provisos. As mentioned, some of the problems with his game over the last 12-18 months were still apparent last night. And it's just 1 game he had to motivate himself for. If he does want to leave, he might not be able to find that level of effort every game.

Overall, really cagey game, but probably made that by City getting beat by Cardiff. If City had won, there would have been more pressure on both sides to get 3 points. I'm happy with it, given how we normally struggle with them at OT. Wasn't too impressed with Mourinho - the Schurrle decision clearly wasn't working early on but he stuck with it for a long time, which isn't like him, and the Mikel substitution near the end actually drew us onto them and nearly tipped the balance back to us. I thought Jones and Valencia both struggled, and that Cleverley played really well, as did Rio and Vidic.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think Rooney looked fully match sharp but with some top attacking players on show hazard Oscar rvp etc and in a tight cagey game he looked the best attacking player
Jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, I'd agree with that. A lot of that was down to his workrate rather than any specific acts of brilliance. I thought de Bruyne and Welbeck did well too.

HAPPY TUESDAY EVERYONE and here's to hoping next Tuesday is a happy one too!

6 days left and I'm still feeling excited, in fact ill continue to be until the 3rd. Arsenal are in a similar position to us and haven't signed anyone only difference is we already have a squad of winners, I will be a bit peeved though if arsenal end up with Ozil and we land Fellaini haha here's to hoping the final days are kind to Manchester United.

With Mbia going Sevilla what does that mean for Kondogbia are they just adding depth after losing players such as Isco?

Do Manchester United stand a chance of capturing Ozil or Fabregas in the final days or are we destined for Fellaini?

Loving the new David Moyes song by the way, play like Fergies boys haha.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Isco played for Malaga not Seville
Who we sign if anyone will depend on Bales's departure and destination. suspect it will be Fellaini and a statement saying we are happy with what we have {Ed044's Note - This is what Ed02 had to say on another page: Kondogbia only moved last summer but Juventus would like to take him in the summer and Begiristain has said he is interested in the player and feels that the club can work with him to be a long term replacement for Yaya Torre. Monaco and Chelsea have asked about his availability whilst Real Madrid were looking to a deal for him that would see a player, Jese Rodriguez, included in the transaction on a loan, sale, or sale to buy back deal. Obviously that is now off the table. Chelsea have turned their attentions elsewhere but Monaco, Arsenal plus possibly Manchester City and Juventus are the clubs that, right now, have a realistic chance of signing Kondogbia - but there is still some little interest from elsewhere.}

Looking forward to this week as well. a lot can happen in a week, my heart is saying we'll sign a couple of crackers but my head is saying its too late and we won't sign anybody.

I'm not too sure who is on our radar -Baines and Fellaini transfer's seem to have gone cold over the last few days although I expect another bid shortly.

I know the Fabregas saga has came to an end but I would be tempted at a 40m quid bid to maybe tempt barca into selling, others i'm not so sure - Modric? Ozil?

Banter please ed!

a little bit of summary about the game. I can be wrong so please rectify ( no arguments please)

1) Valencia: number changed but no change of luck. still couldn't beat his man. working hard as usual but no decent end product. same as last season. IF UNITED CONTINUE TO PLAY WINGS, THIS THING NEED TO BE SORTED QUICKLY.

2) JONES: did well defensively, but with help of valencia. not much of attacking threat like rafael. so he is good for filling in but MANAGER HAS TO DEFINE HIS PERMANENT ROLE QUICKLY, before the talent get wasted. may be converting him to much needed Defensive Midfield is a great idea.

3) Vidic: an absolute ROCK. god knows where is our defense without him. we need a nearly equal cover for his position as jones and smallngs are not YET READY to step in big games. and that's why move for GARAY was reasonable.

4) EVRA : to my surprise he is doing well since MOYES' arrival. still 1st weak link in our defense.

5) Carrik & CLEVERLY : done satisfactory. havnt created chances but haven't made any blunders either. positional sence were good in both yesterday.

6) Welback : hard working but we need batter for left side specially with left foot. Every side now know that we will not whip-in crosses fron there if there is no evra or giggs. young wouldn't so would nani. good to play as striker in small games when big ones need rest.

7) rooney : As I said all the summer, he has proved it once again who is a top dog in Manchester. brilliant.

8) RVP : worked hard but haven't received many deliveries in final third to show what he can do.

so over all a good equal game to watch.

*CHELSEA after spending 100m+ getting close to united, final piece left is a TOP STRIKER
* United is very compatible without spending, final piece left is a TOP MIDFIELDER and LEFT FOOTED WINGER and we will be back on top.

I don't understand what obsession people have here to criticize players without emphasizing how well they had contributed to the team effort.
I myself do not rate Cleverly at all but he had put in a good performance last night.
I am sure genuine Man U fans would put aside all petty players issues and focus how the team performs.
For me, it was a great team performance, we were defending in numbers and despite the fact that we all think the current squad needs improvements, it was a great team effort. Although the win could have been the cherry on top.
I short Rooney was very good and the team overall looked very sharp.

You have to laugh at kloot, well I do anyway. Moyes, Rooney and cleverly all do good things and he doesn't know what to do with himself! you can sense the anguish coming through in his posts. Then he posts some rubbish about us not believing we would score in extra time? Just sounds bitter and twisted from where i'm sat but then I don't know why I sound surprised, lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's a pity to be honest. You can understand someone disliking Rooney due to 2010 and/or his attitude all of last season, but what have Moyes and Cleverley actually done wrong to deserve the poison? They are scapegoats simply because they are nobodies first choice. If we had lost 1.0 last night Cleverley and Moyes would have been targeted. Very very sad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at the stick evra has got on this site as well

Agree0 Disagree0

He must have woken up very sweaty this morning.

There was a lot of feverish pounding going on in KLOOT's bedroom last night - of the keyboard. Obviously.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is a pity. Goes to show that whatever happens some fans will never be 100% behind the whole team, which is sad in my book. The term 'support' is probably misused a lot these days.

Agree0 Disagree0

Meeooowww, jred :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Evra is an experienced pro and a well paid player at the club and has cost us several goals in the past few season's and continues to make several mistakes per a game. Every player deserves constructive criticism if they are playing poorly, but Evra has been very very poor defensively since 2010. Hence the criticism on this page and everywhere else.

Cleverley is criticised for not being Scholes or a £35m midfield signing and Moyes is criticised for not being SAF or in some cases Jose Mourinho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
Cleverly gets criticized when he doesn't play well, or isn't up to the standard of what people expect of a United player.

That's the way it works fans are always critical of players but on this site it gets a bit daft .
Some of the stick evra and giggs get is ridiculous

Agree0 Disagree0

Giggs stick is the same as the Cleverley stick. People are angry at Giggs due to him playing in a position which fans feel should be strengthened. That isn't Giggs or Cleverley's fault. That's the manager's fault for not strengthening or for playing them and they are being scapegoated for it. Cleverley and Giggs do not make game deciding errors like Evra has done on numerous occasions. Cleverley or Giggs rarely have poor games, they are just playing in a position where fans feel needs improving and Giggs and TC are getting the blame for that. Just like Gibson did and Carrick used to. You cannot blame a player for not being good enough, you can only blame the manager who chooses him to play. Giggs is 40 for crying out load, he should be idolised, not criticised. SAF has let this all happen and when he's bought a winger or a striker, he should have been buying midfielders and should have identified Evra's replacement years ago. If he seen it as Fabio then Fabio should have been played more often or sent out on loan much earlier. In Evra's case it's Evra's fault for making his mistakes and the manager's too for not replacing him or giving him a player to rotate with. With Giggs and Cleverley it is only the manager's fault for not strengthening the positions needed. Giggs and Cleverley are hated due to SAF's neglect of the midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
Lol, really are you joking .
What a load of rubbish.

Right I want to get something off my chest about the game last night. Rooney had a good game but not a great one. He had a pass success rate of only 75% which means he lost possession with one in every four passes. Which isn't very good for a world class player.

Now don't get me wrong this isn't a Rooney bashing post, on the whole I was pleased with Rooneys performance. He worked hard and looked determind to do well, I know this may sound silly but I thought he was trying too hard at times. It was like he was trying to force something to happen rather than just playing the game as he normally would and waiting for the oppertunities to open up for him. He certainly looked like he was trying to prove a point last night.

I think that blind drive to make something happen ment that he sometimes made poor choices with his passing, too often he tried to either thread the ball through the eye of a needle or he tried the 50 yard across pitch hollywood ball, then at the end when RvP was in acres of space Rooney tried a stupid 35 yard shot rather than the 10 yard pass which would have left RvP one on one with Cech.

Lots of effort but not too much in the way of quality in the final third.

Of course he did play his part for the team and played quite deep at times which helped create a little triangle in midfield with Carrick and Cleverley which is one of the reason we controlled the midfield. Rooney dropping deeper gave us the numerical advantage over Chelseas midfield as Oscar didn't drop back enough.

The only other thing I have to say on Rooney is it was so evident that he's lost more than a yard of pace. Three times he was up against Terry a defender who has never been quick and yet Rooney couldn't run around him as he has lost the explosive speed of the mark. That is something he is very unlikely to get back. He isn't a slow player by any means as his sprint back to tackle Ramires showed, but he needs 10-20 yards to get upto speed now, where as 2/3 seasons ago he was upto speed after 1-2 yards. Its that quick acceleration that you need to beat people one on one, and unfortunately it was evident on several occasions last night that Rooney no longer has it in his locker.

Like I said this isn't a post to bash Rooney, but to put his good performance last night into perspective. As some on here have been hailing his performance last night as the second coming of jesus. He was good, promising even but it was far from world class. A world class performance from Rooney last night and we would be waking up today top of the league simple as that.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think anyone hailed his performance as worldclass just gave credit where it's due.
The lad obviously needs a couple more games but was easily one of the best players on the pitch .

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a performance worthy of his salary. I just hope it wasn't a one-off simply because we were playing Chelsea. I hope he can continue this form and even improve, but he cannot fall back into last season's rut or it will ruin our chances of number 21.

I do not believe we will give him a new contract on his terms so I can see him going in the next three transfer windows. Hopefully we can get the replacements we need and whilst he's still at the club he puts in a shift like yesterday.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you both. He was one of the best performers across both teams last night but still room for improvement, that would be expected since it was his 1st full game in ages.

Promising signs i'd say at this stage.

Agree0 Disagree0

So according to your opinion; can you please tell us who including, chelsea players, had a great game?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Syd, have to disagree.

If you count doing plenty of running, chasing down the ball, a good tackle, and a couple of good crossfield passes, as being worth 250k, then it's easy to see it's not your money :)

I'd reckon Barca and RM fans would expect a little more than that from their top earners.

A step in the right direction, and I hope, if he stays, that he pushes on from here. But let's not start with the hyperbole, after one better than average game.

There were still loose touches and misplaced passes - necessitating a lot of the running back - and a casualness in some of his link-up play.

A decent game for him, but in a desperation to see the Wayne of a couple of years ago, some on here are already bigging up last night's performance into the 'amazing' category.

Watch a rerun of the game in the cold light of day, without any of the emotion that came with last night, and tell me his performance was any better than 'decent'.

Agree0 Disagree0

StevieK, it certainly wasn't a performance worth £250k a week. But Rooney isn't on £250k a week. His salary is largely incentive based and initial salary is the same as RvP's. £160k a week is the figure that is used amongst the football finance boffins. Bonuses are for goals. With Rooney no longer the penalty taker and playing as the out and out striker he is getting far less money than RvP and less than he could be earning when playing as the main striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd, enough with the figures already. That was so not my point, and you know it. It's a ball-park figure used for convenience. The central point remains.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mourinho's comments show just why he was the wrong man for United. He may be charismatic but he is disruptive and divisive. Rooney may or may not have said he wants to leave but the continual public pronouncements from Mourinho are embarrassing. DM should take note re Banes and Fellaini.

As for last night, it wasn't a great game but I was worried we would be overrun in midfield. With the options Chelsea had I thought Carrick and Cleverley did really well. It was good to see Cleverley stick his foot in and even Valencia looked hungry and up for it. I'd love Welbeck to do well but I thought he drifted out of the game last night and also wasted the best chance. However, we still have Rafael, Kagawa, Nani and Hernandez to come back in plus whoever we eventually sign.

I don't get this RVP / Rooney story either - players have always shook their heads when they think they should have received a pass. RVP has been very public saying Rooney was one of the reasons he joined United so I don't think there is a story there. It will be interesting to see how the Rooney story develops in the next 24 hours. I think the lack of offers for him has probably startled him ( and Stretford).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jose is turning into a sad caricature, mate.

Can't believe so many people wanted him, and the circus that comes with him, anywhere near our great club.

I though Young looked good when he came on, bright going forward and he put in a few good crosses.

I think Zaha was left out last night due to his lack of experiance and his lesser defensive qualities.

Against a team like Chelsea you can't afford to have a player out wide who doesn't always track the runner. Chelsea had Hazard, De Bruyne and Shurrle all playing wide last night, and all of them are capable of ripping us apart on the counter unless our wingers track their runs and double up with the full backs to cut them off. With Oscar in the middle instead of Mata it ment most of Chelseas threat came from the wider areas which Mourinho had decided was his best bet at getting to our defence. With Jones and Evra playing as full backs it looked easier to get around the outside of our defence rather than through the middle with the experiance of Rio and Vidic. So it was vital to our defence that we didn't let Chelsea get around the outside of our defence, this is why Zaha didn't get on the bench. If he had got on then once or twice he wouldn't have tracked the winger and that would have given Chelsea the chances to get in behind our defence and score undermining our otherwise good performance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mourinho came hoping to over-run us in midfield, and it just didn`t happen. Well done Cleverley Carrick Valencia and Rooney ( who is only going to get sharper with game time ), we never looked in danger. Welbeck for me is NOT United quality, he works hard but sorry he will never be top drawer. Should have played Young or Zaha from the start. Think Carrick & Cleverley should now be our defensive pairing playing just in front of the back four.

Cleverly was excellent this match in what was expected of him. 2 tackles and 5 interceptions, most passes attempted and a 91% completion rate. there is a reason, as many have said, he is consistently picked by England and United. for all chelsea's signings, they were playing for a draw and (good on them) were very hard to break down, mourinho tough when he sets out his stall to defend.

Rooney dis-likers will still moan about him even after today’s performance.
I think, Simmo, Nomidfield, me and only few others were saying since all summer that he is still a world class player. Today fans were amazing, chanting his name.

On the other hand I have to laugh at Jose. Before match he was saying that he wants to win the match but the line-up was totally opposite. Evra was right Chelsea came here to get a draw.

Big mouth clearly wanted to unsettle United but he wasn't successful in it.

The only downside which is purely my gut feeling is that all is not well between RVP and Rooney. Fans watching the game in the stadium can comment on it. Don’t rant on this one as it is my gut feeling.

That's exactly what I saw. When had that shot from out side the box near the end which was saved RVP wasn't too pleased. Kept shaking his head for the next five minutes and moaning to himself. Rooney could have played him in but shot. They didn't speak much or even look at eachother. It seemed a bit different from last season. Since then Rooney has sulked at not being top dog and wants to go so perhaps RVP is as fed up with him as us.

Not sure where you got that from? Rooney went to him before the game and they high fived and hugged.

King of desert, I am certainly on the rooney supporter list. Check my posts! lol.

I saw it right in front of me that's where I got it from! Yes players moan when they don't get a pass but not for the length of time RVP did after that one. I am just replying to a post and stating what I saw at the game not on telly. The atmosphere between those two for some reason doesn't look the same it didn't lst week. I don't care as long as they still do the business for us .

Pancho,

I assure you I was at the game also. It is natural to get frustrated if you don't get a pass and you wouldn't have even noticed it if you weren't looking for something that isn't there I assure you.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can assure you I wasn't looking for it . He was about 20 yards infront of me you couldn't miss it unless your deliberately not looking for it with your head in the sand!

Couldn't make it to the game tonight so just watched it on TV. Did anyone at the the game notice that Van Persie and Rooney barely spoke for the entire game. Even when there was a bit of brilliance between the two there was no acknowlegment. Maybe reading to much into it but it didn't look friendly. Anybody at the game notice it? Maybe something to keep an eye on? Yorke and Cole it wasn't!

I did notice how angry RVP was when Rooney ripped that shot to Cechs right that was saved. RVP had created some space and Rooney didn't see it. As for the rest of the match, didn't notice anything unusual.

Ed's - What do you make of the Moyes interview about Bale after the game? some say it is just pleasing the fans but we have already sold out the season tickets etc. I don't see it happening just want your opinion. {Ed007's Note - I wouldn't be too happy if Utd spent that kind of money on Bale. I've never really wanted him at OT and don't really see what the fuss is with him.}

I remember a lot of people coming on here saying Moyes doesn't know tactics and is really defensive and will get outplayed by any top half team. Well we just outplayed arguably the best team who have spent big and have very good players. We were tactically sound and solid at the back and dominated midfield even with Cleverley and Carrick against a very good Ramires and Lampard, I have to say I have been really impressed with Moyes in his interviews and team selections and the fact that he isn't afraid to change things when he needs to so doesn't have that stubborn factor. My only problem is what is going on with Kagawa? Also on a quick note if we had Fabregas tonight I think we would have broke them down a little easier as we are missing that creative spark in midfield that can pull off the spectacular from nothing. let's hope we can bring in 2 or 3 top players that will all improve our starting 11 we have enough squad players now.

George, agree with most of that. However, our midfield failed to create anything really, against a team that left the great Mata out, apparently because of a personality clash with Mourinho. We are good enough to beat most teams in the Premier League but, unless we strengthen, we'll struggle against the best. Rooney played well and probably put Chelsea's next bid up to £40m.
