Deli Alli or lingard?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Mar 2018 21:02:22
I mean Alli is nearly 5 years younger and has still played more top level games and scored more goals. Lingard can become a good player, and is doing well this season. But Alli has the potential to become a world class player. It’s not even a contest.

I'm not sold on alli, good player i'm not sure he is as good as people like to make out tho .
As a England lad it would be great if he could go on to he world Class, I would have linders over him. at the moment but things can soon change .
Young been good for England tonight.

Agree11 Disagree3

27 Mar 2018 21:39:38
Alli is about the same age as McTominay, he is miles ahead of players his age in terms of development. He lacks consistency, but you wouldn’t expect that at 21. Wait until he’s Lingard’s age, and you’ll see a complete player.

Danny
I hope so but I'm not convinced, good player not sure about world Class.

Agree2 Disagree2

27 Mar 2018 21:55:09
Danny, you may be right but he’s very unlikeable. I find him niggly and nasty and he does go missing. As you say he is still very young so he may grow out of it.

Jorginho looks good.

Agree4 Disagree1

27 Mar 2018 22:21:23
Leahy
Ed has said we tried to sign him in Jan
I like jorginho but he has the bit of the veron about him, could he handle the pace and physicality of the epl?

I don't see how him and matic works.

Agree2 Disagree2

27 Mar 2018 22:39:06
Matic is slowing down a bit, introduce him gradually, he didn't do too bad tonight against the premier league players.
He is looking for the ball all the time, telling his team mates what's going on, and he can pass the ball.
A fine player. Heads up all the time looking for that forward pass.
Now I haven't seen much of him.

How about letting the youngsters develop in peace and with patience from us fans. It is in both their teams and the national teams interests to be allowed to make mistakes and mature. Players develop at different ages. Remember how Ronaldo took time to do so. One big thing which helps youngsters grow up and mature is to play and live abroad. Travel broadens the mind. I would love for Utd youngsters to have to compulsorily spend a year or two abroad at continental teams. We could do the same with youngsters from abroad coming here.

This season lingard has been better but dele has more natural talent. Whether he can translate that into consistency is another thing.

Jred - One from the memory bank, Berahino or Kane?

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 23:54:15
Beast
Lost his way berahino, talented lad but drugs etc and footy don't go well together .
Kane is a good example had a good season, a lot of players have one good season, Kane got better the next season and then better the season after. That what's world Class players do they continue to improve .

I think alli had 1 decent season when he showed potential, Kane had a great season and backed it up .
Was alli good year that good do tho?

Agree1 Disagree2

28 Mar 2018 02:18:58
Yeah I really thought LVG missed a trick not going for Kane when he was gettable (imo) . Not many people were convinced, I remember it being a good old 50/ 50 debate on here at the time.

Alli over Lingard long term. I think Alli needs to drop deeper rather than playing off the striker, he isn't in the game enough otherwise and his touch is too hit and miss at the minute.

Lingard should be like Park was, not the same but used in big games for big performances. Not effective often enough to be a main stay of the team, but can change a game and can do a good job from time-time - Lingard is a perfect squad player. I hope he improves, but I think Alli is another level with the world at his feet, crucial 12 months ahead of him though as he has stalled or gone backwards of late.

Yer he was on at his teammates all the time and I do like him as a player but international football isn't the epl .
I think matic has done well for us but I think we need a playmaker that is better than matic.
Good footballer jorginho just not sure he is right for the epl.
But I would be very happy if we signed, he really is a very good player.

Pep is having trouble filling his bench as it Is, I feel for the guy having to field 12 subs next year in the champions league.

I'm sure he can put a couple of refs on there, might as well make it official.

smalling out, Umtiti in
Fellaini out, SMS in
Shaw out, Tierney in

Contentious I know but martial out, Ryan sessignon (Fulham) in. The lad has so much potential, as has been said before he will be the next bale. Martial has heaps of potential, but seems to lack desire/ sulks a lot. Never seems that happy or desire to grab a game by the scruff of the neck and push on.

New RB required Ordiozola maybe, another MF with Herrera going out. Vidal or Jorginho to come in.

New RW also required. Douglas costa or Willian anybody.

I believe the changes above would give us much more balance, desire and squad depth and should be achievable given our average spend over the last few years.

Throw foshu Mensah and tuenzebe into the mix and I think we can let jones go as well.

I think we still need a back up striker in case lukaku gets injured. I know rashford could play there as well, but I just don't think Jose is up for it.

I know it's fantasy land, but how about trying to swap Sanchez for Icardi?

What are your thought?

Believable5 Unbelievable9

27 Mar 2018 13:08:58
Should we just keep buying players year in, year out?

Or, controversially, do we identify a manager who can get the best out of the current crop of players?

Agree9 Disagree6

27 Mar 2018 13:21:25
Sanchez already out? Then in jan, 2019 we swap icardi for hazard who'll be at madrid, who we then immediately swap for neymar, and then in the upcoming summer we swap neymar for martial (plays for barca) who by this time would be the best player in Europe. I mean we're dreaming anyway, so why not?

Agree6 Disagree2

27 Mar 2018 13:51:26
Even when we were winning consistently under Sir Alex we still brought players in each year. Average 3 players.

Playing devils advocate who is to say Jose is not the right manager. We know he did not get the players he wanted last summer so it is hard to judge whether he is failing or not.

Also if we bring in a new manager do you honestly believe that they won’t want their own players.

If we buy the players Jose wants and balance the squad th n I don’t think he will have any scope to complain and it will be time to move him on.

Agree2 Disagree5

27 Mar 2018 13:58:12
The current crop (collectively) of players are simply not good enough for Man United.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 15:57:40
Controversial I know but leave Jose to it, ship out the underperformers and in 2-3 years either get Jardim or hand it to Carrick.

Agree3 Disagree5

27 Mar 2018 16:46:15
Jose definitely is the right manager. Ideally I would like us to improve every season. We have done in each of the seasons he has been in charge. In theory we should do again.

27 Mar 2018 19:12:48
Jose out . Pogba out De Gea out . let's start all over again. We don't need defenders . We need to attack.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 21:57:05
I think we need a new CF and possibly 2 wingers. The FBs need changing and we need 1, possibly 2 CBs. Central midfield needs some serious strengthening so we need to bring at least 2 top class players in there. Maybe a GK as well and then we will be well set.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2018 00:30:37
Keep fellaini sell the rest .

How much would the Barcelona team cost maybe just buy them.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2018 06:59:23
Right Singh. Next season we will play 0-0-11 because we only want to attack. Pogba out, DDG out, Bailly out, Matic out and of course Jose out.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 07:43:13
Remember when Sir Alex bought sheringham and the jury was out for a while, well, if jose can't buy his first 2 choices on the striker front, there's a whisper that a short-term solution (as in 2-3 seasons worth) could be jamie vardy, to be honest i don't think he'd be too bad a signing, although i'd like to see mahrez come in, heck, why not both!

Believable1 Unbelievable3

27 Mar 2018 08:06:49
Got lukaku marshall and rashford, should be enough considering lukaku pretty much plays every game.

Agree3 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 09:18:43
sheringham was top draw I can’t believe there would’ve been any jury out over that signing, one of my fave players.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - considering Fergie had turned down the chance to sign him a couple of years previously because he was too old, I think you will find there was defo a lot of people unsure.}

27 Mar 2018 10:17:51
Classof82,

People usually save these random rumours until at least the end of the season, we are going to have a squad of about 50 players next season if you get your way.

27 Mar 2018 17:00:13
GDS-i think maybe jose is going to try and buy before the world cup, save on prices and competition, maybe its starting to sink in that fergie got it right, but asap, watch the others get themselves in a tizzy, as for rashford, i wouldn't surprised if he had to leave to fulfill his potential and get more game time.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Mar 2018 00:54:33
Didn’t realise that Ed. What swung it for Fergie to go for it later on do you know? Loved watching Teddy play, such an intelligent player.
