following a question specifically targeting speculation linking the 31-year-old to Manchester United due to his good relationship with former Everton manager David Moyes, Landon Donovan said, "I'm not going to comment on specific conversations I may have had with David in the past, but.we'll say I had talks with some very high profile teams in England, how's that?"

Are things really this bad

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ahaha

Tell me that is a joke. Tell me, go on.

What's worse is that you actually believe it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Donovan has just signed a contract extension with LA Galaxy.

Ps The lad from Derby (Hughes) looks a real talent. Granted not the stellar midfielder we all crave but would be a great addition to the squad and one for the future along with the current crop of young talent.

does not moyes understand that it is him and not 'look dave I have got us a new tyre deal' woodward that will be fed to the wolves. if he thinks hairdo and baines are going to make us the best team in the world which we are supposed to be. I think moyes is a good manager but he is out of his depth. somebody should tell him the season tickets are sold out so he does not have to go on about we are always in for the best when us as fans now we have no chance of signing them. but at the end of the day it will be his head that rolls.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You mean baines who has been the best left back for the past 3 years? At a average club?

And this very same player who is easily in the top 5 left backs in Europe if not the world.

For the past 3 years has consistently been the best left back in the prem and who created the most chanced in the whole of EUORPE as a left back.

He would easily IMO complete our defence

Agree0 Disagree0

If he's the best left back then why isn't he taking coles place and we would be replacing him in a couple of years

Agree0 Disagree0

If he's so good according to you were are the big teams in europe bidding for him

Agree0 Disagree0

The only LB's I can think of better than Baines are Alaba and Alba. Although not LB's; Chiellini and Lahm can also play there better than him. Fifth best in the world isn't too bad though!

I'd happily have him at United assuming our midfield was sorted out first.

My worry is that we will spend all of our budget on Baines and Fellaini when we need 2 CM's urgently and Fellaini is, imo, not good enough on his own.

I'd rather we spent the £40m the pair would cost us on somebody who is world class and leave LB till next year or supplement Fellaini with another top CM.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wonder where Ozils comments leave us, is he being genuine in saying that he is staying despite his father and agent offering him around Europe? Do we go for Mata? Or is Rooneys new contract going to cover up our failure to sign an attacking player? I think by the end of the window we will only have Baines and Fellaini - I just don't see us moving for anyone else. We will be short though if Nani ends up at Juventus, if we sign no one we need a resurgent and confident Nani to step up. As for Spurs and Eriksen, I wouldn't worry. I don't know why people are going crazy about it, he really isn't that good. No body wants him around Europe and he will end up in Spain if he performs well.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Eriksen is potentially a very good footballer, still only 21 I think he would do ok for spurs and United for that matter.
Fresh
you where very confident that this was going to be our biggest ever spend what do you think has gone wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly, I think that we started too late in the window. Moyes should of got to work from June the first with his transfers. I think also that the men on charge rate our squad more than we do. Moyes also wants time to evaluate everyone, that's why there have been so few departures. The last problem is that we have gone for players like Fabregas who weren't interested when we could of signed Thiago (an example). We are only going to get the two from Everton and will make do with that. For some reason the bosses rate very few players, where as I have seen loads of players pass us by that would of improved us like Moutinho, Paulinho, Rodroguez, Lamela, Thiago, Strootman etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fresh
I think you hit the nail on the head our bosses rate the team and players higher than we do.
After winning the league by a canter and only just getting beat by Madrid I don't think a major overhaul was on the cards I think Woodward may of said as Munich.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 22:37:56
Lads no need to panic. I was only worried about Chelsea game but the way our team played it was refreshing.

If we get Fellaini alone as well it would improve us a lot especially against City.

Zaha and Adnan will get chance but probably against lesser teams in PL and FA and LC. As this is Moyes first year so he is a bit cautious as well. That's why he is playing Giggs and experience players. He will settle down after few games and then we will see our true colour of being Champions. So get behind our team. I am hoping we will get few players in this window and if not then surely we can play till January to get full idea where we are heading to in the league.

Why are people so shocked at what levy is doing? It's not rocket science. If you receive for 80 + mil for your best player and you are not millions in debt you can buy a lot of good players and not try and penny pinch. Or you could lie your head off, state you have loads of dosh bid for players you know you won't get and buy average players but still even penny pinuch. Don't give me the RVP or berb rubbish . They said a minimum of 25m every summer plus more for big signings and that was before the 80m we got for Ron.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2013 22:54:46
True but look how optimistic we were at the start of the window with all the rumours about ronaldo and big money moves. Now there's 5 days left and we haven't signed one player what are we playing at, we should of Signed lamela or even navas he's class. And now ozil has said he's staying at madrid. Our only real signing could be fellani and I don't see the big fuss about him we need ozil, modric, ronaldo, mata, snijder, marchisio but woodward and moyes won't and can't sign big players

Anniewithoutmakeup thanks for your reply for my earlier question. I am sure you are a woman. Now whether you are a player's wife or someone close enough. Only you can answer it.

Watched Celtic match today and I am really impressed. The crowd was fantastic as usual. Forest and Stokes played really well and are looking good prospect. Eds or anyone knows about them? Are they good enough or it's just one match display.

Regards {Ed007's Note - Are you looking to get banned?? Celtic are one of the hardest teams in Europe to beat at home. Forrest has potential in a Cleverley sort of way, he has had bad luck with injuries and seems to have hit a glass ceiling development wise. Stokes has found his level imo, he is a decent, solid player and has been a Celtic supporter all his life, so it suits everyone, so far anyway.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oh Bond, I so hope they're in our group :) {Ed007's Note - Bring it on... :-)

Hi Eds, With Baines not getting on the pitch tonight, Do you think this could have something to do with a potential switch? I mean not being cup tied would increase his value?

Liverpool in the cup. Was hoping for a better draw so that some of the u21 players would have got a game.

This transfer window must surely hinge on Gareth Bale. When Real Madrid sign Bale, they will allow Oezil, Di Maria, and Khedira to leave, along with maybe Coentrao. Modric probably not since Alonso is out. Personally I think we will stall on Fellaini, and I think we will try to sign at least Oezil and Khedira, maybe Di Maria as well, we will sign Baines and only sign Fellaini if we can't sign Khedira. I would rather we sign Fabregas, Vidal and Sanchez, but I would be ecstatic with Oezil, Di Maria and Khedira. Add Baines and I think we would walk the league. Maybe £80 million would tempt Madrid to sell, since they will all want to leave with Madrid signing all those players. Also the money could allow them to get their other main target Luis Suarez which would be funny.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ozil wants something like 200-250k p/w he ain't worth that much

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not his onpy 24 and a great talent imo him Rooney and kagawa behind rvp

I just want to say what a chairman levy is,, he is a proppa football fan who will put the team first rarther than his pockets,,, they are about to lose bale and with the quality in there signings they have made he isn't going to be missed,,, paliniho, lamela, soldado are big big stars but Erickson aswel. Wow! If they can get there defence right, they could be the team to beat,,,, I know this will make a lot of us worry, but let's hang on and save our rants till after the window shuts,, maybe moyes is putting something together. I would be happy with Fellani and baines

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The guy deserves praise. I like the way he is stalling the Bale deal too, in order to cause as much problems as he can for his premiership rivals who are sure to desperately waiting to pounce!

dose not moyes understand that it will be him and not ed I have got us a new tyre deal woodward that will get fed to the wolves with players like hair do and baines who will not take us to the next step sure they might help us win the league but I say might if we get a tough draw in chap league we will struggle badly with how teams have strengthend he has had enough time to see anderson welbeck nani and even smalling who has taken four steps back are not united standard but at the end of the day it will be his head that rolls a red fan

Has anyone read the Everton blog? With the Baines rumour today they have gone mad again! They all really hate us again now. Never felt comfortable having scousers liking us anyway so can go back to back to the 80's and feel comfortable about hating them again. I think we should bid 3 mil for Barkley just for a laugh.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thought I would throw my opinion out & see what comes back. Its looking more & more likely that we are getting Fellaini, but we need somebody who can pick the killer pass out, the match winning defence splitting ball. Because if Carrick gets injured we really are in sh8t street. We have tried and failed with several big & expensive names, so how about an old favourite Wes Sniejder. Before you all get giddy & arsey he is available for 6 million, he is only 29 which is 3 years younger than Carrick & about 40 younger than Giggs. Has won the champs league, & league titles in Turkey, Italy, Holland. He would also be great in helping the young lads coming through as he would pass on his vast experience & improve their reading of the game (something I can't see Anderson, Cleverley, etc doing). Before anybody says that he turned us down before, then think, so did Modric & Fabregas threw the infamous pizza at the legend that is SAF. Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not for me, but I love that you have carried on the tradition of spelling his name wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem with snieder as always bean his wages or he would be a great shout,, I wouldn't worry too much about the killer pass,, a lot of people are saying this, but on the creative side we have wellbeck, Rooney, kagawa and young, these can all make that pass, we need steel who can own that pitch, and I really rate Fellani and he could turn out to be a massive buy,, he can dominate games, not everyone agrees witch is fair enough but I really rate him

Fellaini and Baines are on the bench tonight. Apparently the commentator said that they were both supposed to start. Didn't think much of it until I heard someone mention that they would be cup tied if they play tonight.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I hardly think that being cup-tied in the Capital One Cup would prevent any deal going ahead. do you?

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not think it matters too much if they are cup-tied from the League Cup, but will be slightly interesting to see if they are brought on.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would assume Man United would be overly happy with it. What if we got to the final and can't even play 2 starters? Anyway I was just speculating why jr

Agree0 Disagree0

No, It wouldn't, Timbo, but if you knew the players were all but gone, the right thing to do would not needless render them ineligible for a competition, however trivial in the grand scheme of things it is.

Wolves winger Bakar Sako is going to Forest and Tokelo Rantie is going to Bournemouth. Why are we not in for these payers? What is Woodward playing at? It's disgraceful.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So now even Forest and Bournemouth are 'overtaking us'. That's another 2 to add to the long list of 'ones we missed out on'.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Forest and Bournemouth can put these sort of deals together so quickly, then why can't we?

We'll probably finish 5th now.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 20:36:37
I can't really believe this obsession with who other people are buying! If we haven't bid for them it's because we're not interested! United will be in the mix at the end of the season regardless of who we do or don't buy. We all want the ronaldo's of this world but its just not going to happen for the next few years. I did think we might get someone in but I'm even starting to doubt that now! Fingers crossed moysie and dr evil get there fingers out in the next few days!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think the frustration is more complex than that!

Its about the perception that there is more effort being placed in to corporate partnerships and sponsorship than transfers.

Its about our players being linked to other clubs rather than us bringing players in.

Its about the belief that Fellaini and Baines, for various reasons, are not the ideal buys for their respective positions.

Its about the seeming reluctance to bid that extra £5m that could secure the services of a world-class game changer - such as Fabregas.

Its about ridiculous stories such as Ed Woodward flying home for urgent transfer business.

Its about Ryan Giggs still playing. Its about a lack of creative flair. Its about Tom Cleverley being out of his depth. Its about Kagawa being frozen out of games.

Its that players such as Rooney staying will be seen as a new (yawn) signing.

I could go on, but I'm boring myself now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe our players are being linked with other clubs, Timbo, because they're better than you and many others on here, give them credit for.

Remember, we are the champions. It's up to other teams to try and catch us. If we were in Spurs, or Chelsea's, or City's position, then there would probably be more urgency in us trying to get some new faces in.

But we're not, so unless the players are top class, and most importantly, available and want to come here, then why should we buy just for the sake of it?

I'd rather it took two or three transfer windows, and got the right players in, rather than just bid for the likes of Eriksen or Lamela (no disrespect to Spurs, but why were no other proper big clubs in for these two, if they're so good?), or any other squad type player.

We have a very good squad - we need players who are going to be more than that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stevie as saf would say being the champions means nothing that was last season its gone.it guarentees us nothing if anything not bringing in any
quality players we are weaker with players that are getting towards the end of there careers(rio, vidic, carrick, giggs)all a year older and closer to retirement

quality

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll give you Giggs, John, but the others are still strong, top-class players, and no weaker looking than last season - Rio, Vidic and Carrick were probably our three best players against Chelsea.

Our team is strong - my point was, that the onus is not on us to go out and buy lots of new faces, it's on the rest. And how long does it take all these new players to gel?

There's a lot to be said for continuity, and quiet evolution. We don't need wholesale changes, the way the others do to try and catch us.

One or two in the right position, and some of the youngsters getting game time, is enough IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 20:34:12
Spurs now given permission to speak to Eriksen of Ajax.

They will have spent the Bale money and some when the window closes - we still haven't spent the Ronaldo money. Definitely should swap Woodward for Levy.

Lots of rumours about United but no action yet worries me a tad

Spurs should improve on last years position based upon their signings - and won't be a one man team anymore

This is why I think United need 2-3 signings to strengthen our squad just in case (god forbid) anything happened to RVP

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spurs have definitely spent very well and on paper, more than replaced the outgoings. They better hope they get top 4 this season though, otherwise what happens next summer when all these new stars have to go another season without CL and big European teams come sniffing?

I'm not trying to be clever here either, it just seems they've gone for the old 'sh!t or bust' approach. Securing CL football will be their be all and end all this season IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have no doubt that with a little bit of luck, Spurs will be fighting for the 3rd spot! They're investing really hard and with quality! Maybe next year they'll be chalenging for the title!

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 20:30:57
Several people on here saying that youth should be given a chance. It can also be argued though that it's the youngsters that get brought through that get the most grief from fans. Cleverley and Welbeck have come through the ranks and if they played for other clubs would be loved for being 'one of us'. At united though they're not considered good enough and people want them replaced with big name signings. They are still young and need time to develop, I saw a great stat today about Alan Shearer and how many goals he'd scored at Welbeck's age. Look it up.

Januzaj will be special. Powell could be very good. Lingard has potential. What happens though when one of them has a bad game or hits a poor run of form. Could even be that he plays well and does a good job providing options and energy, without affecting things in the final third. What happens then? We call for him to be sold to Hull or Crystal Palace so that a £30 million pound 'missing link' from Spain can be signed.

I was at Old Trafford to see the class of '92 play in the youth cup. I was also there as a season ticket holder in '95 when Beckham, Scholes, Butt and the Nevilles joined Giggs in the first team. I was proud of them and everyone around me supported them because they were just like us, United fans.

I'd rather have 11 Danny Welbecks out there playing for the club they love than any big marquee signing that knows nothing about the history and honour of our great club.

It's just a shame that they get so much criticism for doing the best they can.

Sorry. Rant over.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spot on, mate. Nice one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe we should give a brief introduction of our history to our targets before buying them! Because RVP was bought, Vidic, Evra, Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, I doubt if the knew too much about our history before come here.

We have to give young kids a chance to prove their worth, because we believe in the youth. But nothing can stop us from trying to get better than we already are.

The "missing link" is missed my friend because Wellbeck's and Cleverly are not enough to win major cups like CL.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sir matts son

Do you not understand the modern game these days? Clubs are not just clubs they're businesses now. The amount of revenue from wining competitions it's huge, massive.

In an ideal world we'd all love 11 young local lads rather than buy foreign players, but we cant, we have to improve with the other teams to compete. Give youth a chance by all mean which we do. Adnan and zaha will get game time.

Welbeck needs to start scoring because at the minute he couldn't finish his cereal . And I'm sorry but Tom cleverly is not good enough. I really is as simple as that! If Tom was 18 years old fair enough, but he isn't mate, he's 24, why can't people see this, he isn't the young kid anymore. Look how effective Rooney was at 24, or Ronaldo, or cesc etc etc. he isn't good enough and never will be so get real

And about the 11 Danny welbecks, Ye I'm sure you were dead against us signing Rooney, or Roo, or Ronaldo, or RVP, or Vidic etc etc? You didn't want these players no? Bottom line is we need to spend on a world class CM and have done for 4 years. Shame our Fans can't take the tinted glasses of and be honest about it.

Hughesy

Agree0 Disagree0

Hughesy

Yes I understand the game and and I know that it's a business. My point was that there are too many people on here showing double standards. Saying "play the kids" one minute and slating Cleverly and Welbeck the next. Perhaps I was too vague but the point was we need to support these young players rather than constantly criticise.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 20:28:23
Bloody hell the negative posters are on here again tonight, is there nothing good on tv or something? As far as I'm aware nothing has happened other than a player who has whored himself around Europe for a stepping stone to a big club has been given permission to talk to spurs. Suppose that's as good a reason as any to suggest united will be finishing 5th.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why let perfect common since get in the way of mythical fantasy bitching and moaning?!

"But I want him-why haven't we signed him" = but daddy daddy, I want that one!

28 Aug 2013 20:12:59
Bit of a rant here, so bare with me!

I'm a pretty patient guy and i'm sure we will bring some players in before the deadline still, but we are leaving it late Jesus! But apart from that, i'm really not sure who to believe when it comes to our transfers. No one has called any this year, the Ed's on here or anyone on here, the apparent ITK's on twitter, or any of the press, which leads me to believe that no one has a clue at all and when they claim to have inside sources etc. and all that, it's a load of complete rubbish! Even with Lamela, it was claimed he had "complex ownership issues", well it didn't take Spurs long to sort that hurdle out did it! Shame we've missed out on him, i'm sure we will regret that. At the end of the day, if you really want a player you will do whatever it takes to get him and i'm only going to start believing who we are signing when it's on the official site! This has been one frustrating transfer window!

p.s Ed's i'm not having a go at you, so don't take offence, just bored of all the fake rumours and fake people.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nobody has 'called any transfers' because there have been none. When there is one you will see loads of people saying 'I told you first' when really they said it about 40 players previously that we didn't sign. At least this will have taught you that.

Agree0 Disagree0

I came across this online;

So spurs have been given permission too speak too Erikson of Ajax and they want as little as 12 million for him. If completed aswell as Lamela they will have signed.
Erikson = £12m
Lamela = £30m
Soldado = £26m
Paulinho = £17m
Capoue = £9m
Chadli = £7m
Brings a total to £101 million, they are going to nearly get that back on Bale alone! Levy is a person but that is bloody good business that.

----

That is absolutely astonishing!

Well done Levy. {Ed004's Note - I reckon they're a quality left sided player away from having possibly the best team in the league}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It is pretty impressive business. It will be interesting to see how long it takes that'll to gel.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed004, possibly the best squad in the league although I think they need a central defender

Agree0 Disagree0

They need a left winger. Since neither Sigurdsson or Chandli are that great, and they need a left back since Assou Ekotto and Rose are not great either. Also they only have Kaboul, Dawson, and Vertinghen at centre back, surprised they sold Caulker really, so they need another centre back. Also surprised they sold Parker, since all clubs need to have a core of players from that country to be successful, Manchester United and English players, Barcelona, Bayern, Dortmund, Juventus all have a lot of home grown players.

Agree0 Disagree0

That is incredible business, fair play to Levy.

Like AJH says it will be interesting to see if they gel together as a team quickly with so many new faces. I've said above they may be in a tricky situation if they don't finish top 4, it's all or nothing for them this season IMO. Of course, if they do 'click' they may not have much trouble.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is Lamela not going to play left side? I thought that was his position.

Agree0 Disagree0

I suppose it depends what percentage you over-rate players you've only ever seen on TV or YouTube by. Every season we see decent (but no better) players coming in from European leagues and being bigged up here because they've picked up a name for themselves. The list of also-rans is a lot longer than the list of successes and will continue to be so. We'll see where Spurs are at the end of the season. 4th, I'd guess, unless Arsenal buy well or Chelsea or United implode, in which case they might get 3rd or 5th. Paulinho and Soldado are quality signings, Lamela might be, the others I can take or leave. And they were a long, long way back last season when you take Bale out of the occasion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Darklard08,

I'd agree with that assessment TBH. They have bought lots of talented and dare I say fashionable players but I expect 3rd to be the very best they can hope for this season. Paulinho looks very good and Soldado and Lamela are clearly talented but we'll see how they get on in a new league.

Spurs definitely won't be challenging for the title come March/April IMO. Whilst they have fantastic options on paper they still have a suspected weakness at the back and a lack of quality in depth up front, which are the 2 areas of the pitch than often win games. They also need to gel together as a team quickly.

I can see them building a top, top squad over time but only if they make CL next season, then build on that. CL qualification is essential for them.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 19:53:12
Id rather give the young lads the chance before we spend unwisely. Januzai looks better than scholes did at his age. (ok scholes was a late developer and I am not saying Januzai is going to be better than the master) Powell lookes better than Butt at his age and zaha as good as beckham at 20. These old boys were given the opportunity and they grasped it and learnt on the job. sometimes it isn't all about the hear and now. I hope that all 3 are given ample opportunity to flourish and not have people on their backs just because they are not yet the finished article. Bringing young kids through is the tradition our club is built on and one we should never disregard. compliment these kids with some of the great top class pros we have and the occasional world class player such as ronaldo / catonna is the man united way. let the rest shove their sugar daddies up their arses. rant over

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Allelujah.Ken you're a man that speaks sense. Why sign players for the sake of signing someone! Sign quality players by all means but make sure we integrate our talented youth players at the same time. I would rather play the young lads than have a summer of djemba djemba's, klebersons and bebe's

Agree0 Disagree0

I like the cut of your jib, Ken. Well said.

Agree0 Disagree0

The one position I do fear this being the case is on the wings, where we have loads of options but none of them great. I hope this doesn't stop us giving Januzaj chances, who I think at this early stage would be best played at RAM/RWF. I'd even be tempted to shift both Nani and Young if it meant more playing time for Januzaj and Zaha. Ideally, we would replace Nani/Young with 1 top quality winger then give Zaha/Januzaj whatever chances are left over, but that's probably unlikely at this stage.

Agree0 Disagree0

I too like the cut of your jib, young man.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ken big difference between these youngsters and the class of 92 is that the class of 92 grew up and played together from a very early age.excluding beckham my uncle was manager of boundry park juniors under 14s he had in his team butt, g neville, p neville, scholsey, john okane, ben thornley.they grew up together and are still a close knit group now, you will never get a repeat of the class of 92 in modern day football and have so many players come through the ranks in one go.

Wow I really do not believe this is happening, its now on a website that SPURS have been given permission to speak to Ajax playmaker CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN!

We are now falling behind spurs now!

Eriksen is a very good player and will end up being a world class player, why are united speaking to Ajax for him, we are crying out for this kind of midfielder, did spurs get wind that WE may have been interested? I think perhaps so, as why go in for him now when they are going for Erik lamela and near enough a done deal!

To be honest I love my team and will support them through thick and then and to be honest this first season under Moyes I would be happy to finish in the top 3, as I think this is where we will finish with the current squad.

Im now gutted a player like Eriksen is now going to spurs who in my opinion will finish 3rd or 4th now! and will be us battling with Arsenal for the final champions league place!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That is exactly what I am saying I think he would jump at the chance to play for us and we could use a player like him AND he os very young

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously, what the hell are people getting their knickers in a twist over? Eriksen is a talent and might become a top European player in a few years time, but he is hardly an improvement on what we have already got.

Agree0 Disagree0

Over rated in my opinion, he thinks he's better than he is. In the past he's gone on about going to Spain, but there's no interest from there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just because you want a player doesn't mean the club have missed out on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

What's the point in signing erikson when we have some mint young players we want to bring through in the same position.

we also already have about 6 senior players who can play the same position.

Agree0 Disagree0

And GDS hits the nail on the head.

Does anyone know if our scouting network changed much following the arrival of Moyes? Did he bring in his own people? Can't imagine we would scrap fergies contacts but seems like we are struggling to identify serious talent before others step in

First post on here so please be gentle with me!

I was wondering what people think about the Kagawa situation, in that there have been rumours about Dortmund wanting him back. I personally think he has the potential to be a really important player for utd and do not want (and don not expect him to leave, considering his comments about wanting to succeed at united).
However he does not seem to be able to get a game at united. We have been trying to sign a creative midfielder over the summer and have so far failed to do so, so would playing him in there not be worth looking at. My only concern would be him being a little light weight but I think with Rooney playing just behind RVP kagawa would be able to push forward knowing that Rooney would be able to drop back and interchange positions.

Your thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think the kagawa conundrum is just as important as the signing of new players. My personal opinion is that he struggles when played as CAM. All his best games last year were when he played from the left of a front 3, spurs at home(2nd half) liverpool & Norwich at home! I thought moyes would love him and use a little bit like he did with piennar. Surprised he hasn't featured at all yet!

Agree0 Disagree0

That's hilarious rumpel, just read it out to my girlfriend and she shivered. But I do think we'll sign someone, once bale joins real I think it'll start the merry go round of transfers. GGMU

Agree0 Disagree0

I think SAF bought him and didn't know where to play him, which seemed strange. He needs a run but I'm not sure Moyes will give him one

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 18:57:59
I sure hope Moyes has something up his sleeve with regards to transfers, because if he doesn't, and the results start to go against him, he's going to be about as popular as a rogue pubic hair on a communal bar of soap.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ha! That was classic Rumpel!

Don't worry though, we will see signings, the club aren't stupid enough to do go empty handed this window.

Probably going to get slaughtered for this but would anyone take Alex Song over Fellaini? I guess he'd be obtainable and a better cheaper option in my opinion

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nope. I'd rather we took neither.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not Fellaini's biggest fan, but I'd prefer Fellaini over Song.

Agree0 Disagree0

In my opinion we need more goals coming from our midfield and I think Fellaini is more of a goal threat than Song. I do still like Song as a destructive midfielder but I think Fellaini is more capable of chipping in with the odd goal or 2 as well as being a solid defensive mid, assuming we are not going to buy the likes of Fabregas.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 18:46:03
Are we just going to stand by and let Tottenham sign Christian Eriksen as well! Ajax have given him permission to talk to Tottenham!?
Why haven't we signed him hasn't he only got 1 year left on his contract he may be cheaper than usual if that is Moyes problem!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we wanted him we would have signed him by now. The lad has issues and Spurs are a club that doesn't mind being a stepping stone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe we don't think he's United quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

Eriksen has his heart set on a move to Spain. Expect him to stay with Spurs for two years before moving on. He hasn't looked too good over the past 12 months either.

Soooo frustrating watching smaller clubs ( spurs, chelsea, man city and yes they are all smaller ) all out spend us again! Now these clubs waste a lot of money on so called " stars " that don't always work out, but at least they then move on and try the market again and see who fits with there plans and they bid the correct amount to buy them .

Our negotiators seem afraid to buy player's in case they turn out to be another veron/berbatov, but every club buys a few duds ( madrid : snijder, modric, kaka etc chelsea : anelka, Shevchenko etc man city : ballotelli, javi garcia etc )

We seem terrified for the last 5 years to try and replace keane/scholes and now there is so much pressure finding these replaements that no one at the club wants to do it .

Its either this or the yanks are so greedy that they will not release the funds to adiquitely adrees the glaring hole in the middle of our midfield .

If this is the reason(glazers being tight) then you need to Look at bayern and how it is ran and then realise that if we had not been bought by big malk and the mac nugget boys we would have as big or possibly bigger transfer budget each year than them , and all you people who say support the club no matter what are just the type of people big malk was depending on ( the type who just take it up the a** and get on with it )when he bought this ' lovely soccer club in england '

These leeches need to be removed as we are now standing still and that is a really dangerous thing to do in modern football, just ask the scousers

Rant over

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sometimes I think so called "fans" on this site just want to see the amount of money spent rather than the quality of player.

We have a very good squad, we need a couple of finishing touches to take us to the next level.

Why don't we go and spend £30M on Kyle Walker? Oh, no that's right, we've got Rafael - one of the best right backs in world football, who developed with us after a shrewd youth level purchase.

How about £40m on David Luis? Oh, no that's right, we've got Smalling Jones Evans and Micheal Keane coming through.

We need a couple of first team regular players:

Left back:
Evra is too shakey in defense, although this will wait till next year.

Def/Box2Box midfield:
For me Gundogan would be absolutely perfect next to Carrick-the energy and running would be the perfect foil - very unlikely. Fellaini looks likely and will add to our midfield options with something new.

Left Wing/CAM:
An Özil type player would be perfect. Too early for Januzaj/Zaha?

To bring someone in they have to be better than Cleverly/Ando, Evra and Kags/Rooney/Welbeck to get in the first team, that is why it is difficult to get these players.

There is now one week to go. Have. Some. Patience. I fully expect at least 2 additions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dodgy
I don't think we should waste money, but we should at least spend it, we have the biggest turnover of any team on the planet and we spend like a top 10 team, u don't know you have wasted money before u even spend it?do you?

We are not spending money so we will never know if we are wasting it

We should have a team as good and talented as bayern, do we? are we even close?no chance and its is all down to big malk and the mac nugget boys

I will wait till Monday but if its fallaini and baines only then god help us and our poor club, these Americans will have to go $500 I think is enough for any given leach don't u think?

Wayne Rooney on his FB:

"Here's some pictures from Monday night's game. It was an unbelievable reaction from the fans, so thank you. I really appreciate your support. It means a lot."

Yeah footballers and famous people get sponsored to post certain things but a lot of his posts come him personally so it seems genuine.

And I know it's far from him saying he wants to stay but it definitely sounds like a change in tune from what we've been hearing in the media (from everyone apart from him though) all summer. This and the news of him supposedly not going to hand in a transfer request can only be a good sign? I hope he stays.

It looks as though it will be the first Sunday there is no Mass, or a day when Utd are destroyed by the likes of Hull and Norwich before we all realise that we are plain just broke and the glaziers are penny pinching us.

Shoot me if you must. But 2.6million spent this window, FFS wake up. Moyes is used to buying cheap. let's face it. We have not been the same since the glaziers came

Guys I no how frustrating it is when we see a rival spend 30million on a top quality talent, but we don't have the unlimited funds that are talked about, I was told at the start and I posted saying there was a kitty of 60million,, It's looking very likely that Fellani could join soon, I hope baines follows but Everton are not willing to lose both, maybe there will be a deadline surprise but I very much doubt it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In all seriousness, who really is out there and available that would be able to come into the side and immediately improve the team? {Ed004's Note - Lamela}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, maybe, but I think Nani, if he stays, can have a big impact. I honestly believe that SAF had given up on him, and the player in turn had given up on United; but with Moyes' arrival I think the player can find his form again and really make a big contribution this season. That said, Lamala is a top player. Doesn't he play on the right side though? {Ed004's Note - Yes he plays in the right where we currently start Valencia who hasn't played well for ages}

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree about Valencia; but I can see Nani being used on the right side as he is better at coming in field and can score goals.

I was impressed with the shift Valencia put in against Chelsea, but he definitely is lacking something in the attack department. For some reason he seems almost reluctant to take the full back on and put in a cross.

Agree0 Disagree0

What he, s lacking is a left foot

Spurs are going to be a real force. What a piece of buisness it could turn out to be selling bale and bringing in the quality they are doing. Say what you want about levy but he's got balls to take the bale issue this far while spending big. Really hope we get 1 maybe 2 quality signings in to really strengthen the first 11. Also quietly impressed with moyes and think we'll have a good season regardless. Hope kagawa is used well when back to match fitness

Very very dissapointing window for us so far!

Fellaini may happen and he will be a plus for us but hardly going to put the frighteners on Europes top teams is it and Chelsea, City and Spurs all have strengthened better than us, be worried about falling behind in the prem never mind champs league.

Prove me wrong United!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's debatable if Spurs have improved massively or not. Bale is a big loss.

Here's a question for you are any of you just a little bit worried about the way our noisy neighbours have gone about their business this summer. No big fanfares or silly statements just quietly buying some quality players to add to their squad and bringing in a real quality manager who loves to play attractive football. They have gone very much under the radar this summer and it worries me. Please let's here no nonsence about Cardiff. Start of the season and no captain or centre half of the quality of Kompany. If he plays they don't concede two headed goals.

What has happened to the stupid brash loud Citeh. These are worrying times

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They learnt that when you normally go public with predictions about winning everything in sight it came back to make them look silly.they suffered last season when kompany was out they look lost on set pieces without him

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree to an extent, I think if they keep the group together for a few seasons they can really build something really special. But I'm hoping they take a little time to gel this season. They should definitely be there or thereabouts in any case but hoping they slip up a few times as they learn to play together.

It's a fair point on Kompany and I've heard it said before - but at the end of the day football is a squad game and you have to deal with injuries. How long did we have Vidic out yet managed to win the league last season and lose only on goal difference the season before. This is where our strength is, in the squad, when key players go missing you need reliable squad players to come in. Ours may not be 'flashy' but they are 'competent' because we rotate and give them chances. I can't remember the last time Garcia played for City, let alone at CB, so I'm not surprised they had issues on Sunday v Cardiff.

Agree0 Disagree0

What playing good football lol after Cardiff game mate joe hart and defence ain't that good Chelsea team to watch out for as for city not that bothered about to be honest to many overrated players there just for pay day

Agree0 Disagree0

"Please let's here no nonsence about Cardiff. Start of the season and no captain or centre half of the quality of Kompany"

I think that says it all.

If they were as strong as some suggests they are, they would be able to weather loosing a key player or two, like we have in seasons past.

Even without their captain, they shouldn't be conceding three goals at Cardiff, with the quality they have.

Agree0 Disagree0

'A real quality manager'.

Sorry, what has Pellegrini ever won?

You always go on about the fact that Moyes has never won anything, to bolster your argument against hiring him.

What Pellegrini did with Villareal was the equivalent of Moyes with Everton breaking into the top 4.

He won feck all with one of the best teams in the world, and was sacked after one season, and he did ok with Malaga, who had millions pumped into the club.

Still not a winner though, unless he won some obscure cup in Chile that I can't be bothered checking up on.

So, what's the difference between him and Moyes then?

Oh yes, he's foreign, so he must be better, and he wouldn't just be a Glazer-puppet, would he?

Simpleton.

If you go right back to the start of this Rooney nonsence I posted on here that it would end up with him getting a new contract and the new manager being seen as some kind of saviour for getting him to stay. It is what Paul Stretford has wanted all the time and it looks like he has pulled it off. I am sure when he signs for more money and an extended contract there will be people on this site who will come on here and celebrate. Being robbed by a bald fat scouser some things just never change

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He will prob sign on for a couple more years but I would be surprised if it was an improved deal.
Either that or he will leave next summer

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of the things you have posted. Rooney is a 'Fat Bald Scouser',
Cleverly is terrible
Transfer dealings awful
City are to be admired by there approach this season?
Glazers etc.
I could go on but 95% posts are Negative.why?
Why do you choose to be a negative supporter?
It's honestly like you don't even like the club.
Negative comments after we win 4-1 at Swansea but Positive comments towards City after they LOSE 3-2 to Cardiff?

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with Kloot here. Fans with short Memory, I haven't forgave Rooney for what he did to the club and sir Alex last time, never will.

Agree0 Disagree0

So it's not just me, Lastsanemanalive, I thought I was going mad, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lastsanemanalive I appreciate that for supporters like you and Honeybudgie who are new supporters you must wonder why people like myself get so frustrated with what is happening to our club and the standard of players we now have playing. I know that when Honeybudgie stopped supporting liverpool and shifted over to United he didn't care who owned the club as long as we won things. I am not really surprised as he has no sense of connection to United as long as he can wear his shirt down the pub he is happy

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice1 kloot. I actually tend to watch games from the comfort of my house though, on my cozy sofa. Sad, I know. Does anyone else get that Deja-vu feeling as we come to transfer deadline day I fully expect to be sat glued to the TV with absolutely no action at Utd once again. Another season without strengthening our midfield its only a matter of time before that costs us massively. Normally we are being told that there is no value in the market, this season we were told that we had a war chest, it appears unfortunately that all we have is an old empty chest with no money in it. Struggling to understand how Chelsea, City and even Spurs are adding players that would walk into our side and we sit back and make ambiguous statements time and time again, (Moyes being asked about Bale). Without Fergie who was a master of getting average players to work well as a team and achieve great results, I think we may struggle and as can be seen from the Chelsea game we have absolutely no creativity in midfield and probably have the worst attacking wingers that the club has ever paid a wage at the moment. Hopefully I am wrong but from what has gone on so far I think I could be right. It is starting the smell of desperation like the Arsenal situation signing players in the last couple of days of a transfer window, are they players we really want.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just have to take one of your sentences from above and change it a little

I said last week that United penny pinching regarding Fellaini was a big mistake and questioned exactly how much they would be saving haggling with Everton well it looks now if reports are true that they will be saving NOTHING. an initial 20m pound with it possibly rising to 24m!

His buy out clause was only 23.8m? unreal that the club who were desperate for a signing wouldn't just pay the clause and deal with fro directly. it really does question if the money men at United have a clue at all

Believable0 Unbelievable0

By my calculations we have £3.8m in the bank that we would have otherwise not had. Yes, we may pay £4m in add ons over the course of next few years but paying slightly more over a longer period is cheaper overall and makes perfect business sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

Devil Dust

It's pretty clear that we don't have people out there with skill enough to negotiate transfers.
Does not matter what the "the positives" will say, something is wrong with our transfer policy.

I think they didn't think it would be difficult to get done with business and we'll get desperate at last 3 days or we won't get anyone and pay for this mistake again in the CL .

Agree0 Disagree0

Does that not mean that they could POSSIBLY be saving up to 3.8 mil? Even if they only save 1 mil, that can hardly be declared as NOTHING can it?

Also, perhaps they wanted to use a majority of the money on someone else, and were therefore holding it back, but have now given up on this player so have the money free to use on "plan b".

We can never be sure what is really going on behind the scenes. We can only speculate.

Agree0 Disagree0

MU do not pay over the odds for players. Whatever way you look at this Fellaini isn't worth £23m. If he was worth £23m then Chelsea, Arsenal or MU would have paid it. IMO he is a £20m player. But to Everton he is worth a little more because they overpaid for him originally and he has improved under their care. There is a difference in paying an initial £23m for a player or say £18m initially with the rest in add-ons. To be fair Everton will probably allow MU to pay in installments and that would mean there's more cash to spend on other players. I would be happy with Coentrao, Fellaini & someone like Oezil.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well considering the fact Fellaini might not have been Moyes' first choice and we only moved for him after some other targets were unattainable ( maybe Fabregas if he was to be given a central role or maybe someone else we do not know about ) and that's why we moved for him after his buyout clause expired

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
Or maybe United know they can get him on the cheap as no one else wants him

Agree0 Disagree0

Jred

I think Arsene would take him but only IF he could get him for £8m, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

We know Arsenal wanted Fellaini and 002 has said that if he became available Chelsea may be interested in him and to be fair they are looking for a player like him. It's possible Fellaini has said he will only join MU, meaning we are holding the ace?

Quite simply. NO! Haha

Apart from anything else (which is quite a lot) he is also getting on a bit now. We do not want to be going through another transitional period in the near future with another new manager. I believe this was a major factor in going for Moyes. If he performs and things go well he will be managing Manchester United for a long long time to come.

With the papers reporting that we're interested in David Luiz, does anyone see us, if we got him, playing him as a CDM with Carrick, rather than Fellaini? I would rather pay £30m for Luiz than £20m for Fellaini that and the signing of Özil would be a great summer for us, imagine:

Sly reporting Ozil has commented on how happy he is at Real, that it's an honour to play there and that he intends to stay. Apparently these comments were made at some kind of promotional event this morning. Eds I read what you said about his father earlier in the trasfer window, do you think he's just saying the right things and ticking the right boxes so to speak with his comments? He's obviously not going to come out and say I hate it here and want to leave.

I am struggling to see how Madrid will get around the financial fair play rules, with all those big wages on their books.

They will have to sell - surely?

Mate, just until the transfer window closes. I think that our only target right now is Fellaini, I don't think we can or will get any big star.

If Moyes has his targets and if we really need/want them, they would be here already.

HAPPY WENDESDAY

Another day down but as yesterday I'm still excited and optamistic about the coming days, I'd be lieing if I said a little anxiety wasn't creeping in though. Personally at this current time I think Ozil is good option and I'm hoping the rumours moyes isn't interested are fabrications, we all know he is fond of German football and Ozil came from Germany, silver linings and all.

Reference Kagawa I struggle to believe he will go from a marketing perspective he is worth a lot to Manchester United obviously his footballing ability is also immense but the revenue and interest from Asia MU receive because of him I would imagine is huge? Obviously not in footballing terms but I felt Kagawa arrived around the time that Park left to maintain our position and appeal to the Asian market more.

I could be barking up the wrong tree just a few thoughts from me.

You only have to look at Kagawa's two seasons in Germany before we bought him to realise that his footballing ability was the primary reason for buying him, obviously there was always going to be marketing potential with him but that was just a bonus, he's a great player can't wait to see him get a good run of games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kagawa will have a big role this season. I am sure of it.

Bale apparently was told by the Spurs upper management that he could say goodbye to his team mates last week. Hence the trip to Marbella and now the strop. He also now has stated he will not return to the Spurs training ground again. Looks like the situation is about to come to a head (and about bloody time). De Gea rolls it out to Luis, passes to Fellani, to Modric, good skill from Modric picks out Rooney, sublime ball to Van Persie, GOAL! (maybe)?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Luis?

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope he flops out there personally. No way he is worth 80 odd million. Van Persie, Suarez and Rooney on his day, are all better players' IMO. I would even put Mata above him. I mean, FFS, the guy had one exceptional season, and he is apparently in the same league as Ronaldo. Ridiculous.

Agree0 Disagree0

Luis who?.

Agree0 Disagree0

David Luiz

Agree0 Disagree0

Nani?

Agree0 Disagree0

David Luis, we have been "linked" with £30m bid for him

Agree0 Disagree0

Aaah, I see now. Was thinking it would need to be some 'roll-out' to reach Nani.

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously the the Luis is Suarez who will misplace a pass and do a Viera only for Van Persie to run all the way from the halfway line and do a Giggs and score!

"Man United continue to be interested in the best players"
MMMM. where have I heard that before?
Another week has passed by and still we wait.
I really can't see anyone coming in now, I think he's even given up on Fellaini and Baines now.
If somebody does come in then I will come on here and admit that I was wrong.
The whole transfer thing has stunk of desperation and to be honest i'll be glad when the window closes.
As the close of the transfer window nears we seem to be going more quiet.

My gut feeling is two players will be bought on deadline day whether including felliani or not

I hope I'm wrong but Fellaini seems to be the only thing we may get.

Don't you all think Levy is playing a game to stifle other clubs' transfer activity?

He knows he's losing Bale, so he's done all his transfer business and spent the money already. But he also knows the move will spark a transfer merry-go-round, and so he's drawing it out as long as possible to avoid stimulating the market until the very last minute.

In other words, leaving clubs like us scrapping round in the last few days of the window, and possibly limiting who we have time to agree deals with(Ronny, Ozil, Di Maria, etc).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

But if we all know the deal is done, i'm sure the clubs do too, there is no reason that deals haven't been done in principle and are just waiting for bale to go public and it will begin rapid fire.

28 Aug 2013 12:20:04
If we are looking for an advanced midfielder / playmaker I think that its going to be either Mata or Ozil. Both will fetch around £30 million, but which would you prefer? I think Mata is getting more and more accessible, he was left out of the team on Monday, he's not playing much, they have just signed another left winger and are about to announce the signing of Willian and Eto'o - where does he fit in? Ozil is more likely to get into the Madrid team, but he doesn't look happy and wants to leave.

Which would you prefer to get in these last few days of the window?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ozil for me

Agree0 Disagree0

Oezil has everything, Mata lacks one or two things to take him to the next level in the EPL.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 15:15:22
Mata. proven in epl and scores goals Ozil is a poor finisher and we need more goals from midfield Ozil also has a tendency to fade late on and rarely sees out a full 90 mins in Spain so would he be able to last in a full bloodied game and still be able to contribute in the last minute if we need him? Mata is proven so he would be my choice. not that either player is likely to join
I have a feeling it will be Fellaini and possibly a and other who no one is expecting. Bender is my surprise transfer

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't mind either but Mata because he's a better freekick and penalty taker he's also proven in England

so here's my thoughts if any of you care to read:

We seem to now support a club whose owners are more interested in bringing money in than investing it in the team. This is why I think they signed Moyes up! Because he, like the glazers will always look for the cheapest option! Anyone ever hear the expression 'fur coat no knickers'? that's what I think has happened to our club! On the face of it, it looks like we are one of the richest clubs in the world yet we won't or can't spend to keep up with the best! We act like a mid table team in the transfer market! So who's fault is this? with the amount of money that comes into the club through sponsorship, advertisment and the million other ways we generate money its both ridiculous and ludicrous to accept that we can't compete with the best! why is it bayern, Madrid and barcelona, clubs that are already far superior to us on the pitch are able to strengthen and we can't? they identify players they want or need and go get them! then you have Chelsea, City, Spurs, Liverpool and even the likes of Southampton for F**k sake getting what they feel they need to make them stronger! It's just sickening! I don't care if I sound like a broken record! for all you who say I'm sick of the negativity and people moaning on this site about our lack of activity I say to you I am truly amazed at your naivety and unfounded optimism!

It really got to me after the Chelsea game when Moyes tried to give the impression we could be in for Bale even though those of us who live in the real world know that this was NEVER an option when you consider the price! To me, he seems like the ideal company man! "Manchester United are always interested in the best players" maybe he forgot to read the small print where it say yes, if they are in the last year of their contract or are free! I think I, like anyone else has a right to be negative when you consider the line of BS we've been given over the last few weeks! 7 weeks, 6 weeks, 5 weeks left in the market bla bla bla well there's 5 days left so what do you people think now!?

Just ask yourselves this, how many of the best players in the world play for our club? How many play for the likes of Bayern, Barca and Madrid?! And while you might say "we are Manchester United" we do things our way and we've been successful for 20 years we have, unfortunately fallen behind these clubs in recent years! I like all of you love this club with all my heart I'm just a little worried and frustrated at the lack of quality in some positions in comparison to the very top European teams and nobody seems to be doing anything about it! Thanks for reading and I look forward to your replys and negative comments towards my statement! :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And I bet you went out and bought the latest smartphone, just because everyone else did?

United do things there way its called self sustenance, yes there needs to be income invested in the team but because other teams spend doesn't mean we need to, others teams vast sums of money doesn't bring success it brings competition, competition which will continue to fight at the highest level with the players we have!

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on mate.Yes we have won the league a few times recently. But since we were shown up at Wembley by barca we have not addressed the problems. We have bought a few players since then but world class players only one RVP.We have fallen way behind Europes elite. We get the same speel every year, the war chest is there for whenever we need it.Unlimited funds are available.
However no value in the market, not the players we need.Bayern Barca Madrid find and buy the players they need. Are we now admitting we can not compete with these clubs and Manchester United are no longer one of the worlds elite because that's what it looks like.
Bring back the standard of players that once graced our great club.Do Cleverley Welllbeck and Giggs really have you off you seats in excitement. If they do then I sympathise with you because you know no better

I washed David Peggs car

Agree0 Disagree0

So there needs to be income invested in the team but we don't need to spend money? ok! The Glazers would love you! I don't want the club to spend money because other teams spend money I just want the best players to play for us and unfortunately we can't get them for free! We're lacking some real quality in the heart of our team in my opinion!

Like the car valet said Cleverly, Wellbeck and giggs just aren't at the level we need them to be and I think you can add Anderson, Young and Nani to that too! In my opinion (which means f**k all) we have too many 'squad' players and not enough genuine starters for a team that's suppose to be one of the best in the world!

p.s you got it the wrong way round mate, everyone else bought their smartphone because I have one!

We lost those games against Barca because of the tactical ineptness of SAF and not the players', IMO

Based on this week it seems that what we want to do is sign Fellaini, Luiz and perhaps Ozil as well as tie Rooney down to a new deal. We are going to have a brilliant squad if that happens, I can't see it happening but I would love it too. Realistically, Rooney will get a new deal and Fellaini will be signed and that will probably be it.

as a life long fan like many others the love for this amazing club stirs a lot of passion in me which is starting to get a little hard on my heart. I hink it's becoming painfully obvious that the club have very little imagination and some of the players that Fergie is being linked with like David Luiz for 30 million! And let's not kid ourselves here Fergie is still pulling the strings at the club this is painfully apparent when you see the two goons of not so cleverly and well lucky wellbeck! Now I've tried getting behind these players but I just can't! Players like them and young, Anderson, nani and of course Bebe should only ever have seen the inside of the utd changing room on a tour of the stadium! Now I see and whilst granted its "paper talk" that fergie sorry Moyes is considering a bid for that chump Luiz! I think there would be a lot that would agree with me when I say that if Barcelona failed why would they sell to us and is it only me that would like to see Mata in red? Then to add more insult Monaco look set to land one of European brightest midfield prospects for a measly 17 mil in kondogbia which is about what young cost and then Eliaquim Mangala who I think looks a fantastic prospect I can't see being bought as like Giggs they will probably play Ferdinand until he's eligible for a state pension!

KLOOT seriously has spiced up this forum the last few days, we needed it after all the negative transfer news.

Anyway, with one week left until deadline day and hopefully Ed and Moyes are both working their socks off to get their targets. Who do you think we'll sign first?

I think Fellaini is a certain. Now Marouane isn't many supporters first choice, but he sure is mine. We have needed a physical presence in the midfield for a long time and he can easily do the job for us! Him sitting in front of the back four will open many doors for us! The defenders won't be put under too much pressure, Carrick would be able to roam further forward and pick up for assists and the midfield will be much more difficult to just run through.

For the past few season who have most teams been frightened of facing while playing Everton? Fellaini. Yes, maybe he was played further forward to just receive long balls some games but he still offers a huge threat to the opposition!

A lot of posters mention he is not the best passer on the ball and he isn't. But is this a massive factor of his game? He would be winning us back possession and the feeding it to Carrick or a winger to produce some attacking play.

And finally imagine the threat from corners. Fellaini, Carrick, Vidic, Rooney, RVP, Evra and much more. I think we'll see much more goals from corners and set-pieces.

But after Fellaini is signed, we'll need another creative/attacking player brought in IMO. Ozil has been mentioned but I don't see it happening. Fabregas looked like a target and maybe he still is. It's hard to call who we will sign, hopefully they will be the right one.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we buy Fellaini they should put in his contract that he ha to cut his hair.

Chelsea signing ANOTHER left winger in Atsu. Mata will be pleased.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not sure what is going on at Stamford Bridge. Mata was a delight to watch last season, and one of the players' I most feared when we played them. The guy is absolute class. If only we could get our hands on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should make a bid! Syd what do you think?

Agree0 Disagree0

Double deal for Luiz, Mata & keep Rooney. I would be a very happy chap.

Agree0 Disagree0

You think he'll be sold? surely we'd have no chance anyway!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Atsu will be loaned to Espanyol one for the future I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney, would you be satisfied with a straight swap Rooney for Mata?

I certainly would, he is exactly what we need!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mata plays on the right or through the middle. Willian on the other hand plays on the left and so does Atsu, it's Hazard who is more likely to get pissed off

Agree0 Disagree0

I would swap Rooney for Mata in an heartbeat. I think if Mata was interested in a move to United and we are interested, I think Jose would sanction a swap deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mick, Hazard will always play ahead of Mata. So if Willian has taken Hazard's left spot, then Hazard will take Mata's central or right spot. There is simply too many players similar to Mata at Chelsea.

is it just me because all us fans no we need more additions in a couple of areas (more midfield) and dm and utd r doing nothing about it. why. I can see us getting nobody and can see us finishing 4th -6th in league everyone is buying were not dm your not at everton anymore we must have money to spend fergie had about 50mil each season put your own mark on the team. why is kagawa not playing? why is zaha not playing and zaha was one of the players of preseason. like many fans I think he's a very good manager but your not showing us this yet. there's players out there who are excellent players and available and fit in our squad so wy are you not trying to sign them. can somebody please explain to me? a clueless fan:(((

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Calm down things are happening behind the scenes. Panic when Monday passes if we don't buy. But still don't panic much as remember we are the champions. We are still a winning squad. That won't change overnight.

Agree0 Disagree0

Welshy, I still think we will have 2-3 in by the close of the window. If we sign Fellani and Luis as rumoured this morning I'm opening an Afro wig stall outside OT. Zaha still needs more experience at a higher level, that was plain to see when he was brought on for England the other week. Not sure about Kagawa but don't think he has been 100% fit but think he will play a part against Liverpool. I'm hoping for a triple signing this week, Fellani, Luis and Modic. Cross everything, come on DM cheque book out son!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mark, granted we need CM reinforcements, that's obvious to see and hopefully we strengthen there in the next week.

But to say we will finish 4/6th what have you been smoking? Rediculous statemet! We are Ye champions, we've started the season fairly well, and even if we don't add to the squad we will still be in the title race. 4th to 6th. Jesus!

Hughesy

Agree0 Disagree0

The team could still win the league without signing anyone. I think that has been made pretty evident over the past few weeks.

Chelsea will be our biggest rivals this season. I don't fancy that City side one bit.

I also expect us to get to the last 8 of the CL league this season, at the very least.

We have world class players' all over the pitch. If we can't get better player' in then I am happy and confident to go with what we have got.

Agree0 Disagree0

I no where your coming from mate, kagawa has had a mixed pre season and with the hard start of the season we have, moyes is going with trusted players, I'd expect kagawa to have a big season, on signings it's a worry that we haven't made any signings, but I think we forget how good our team is, and maybe we only need Fellani, there's loads of players I'd like to see but it's the midfield that let's us down

Agree0 Disagree0

Samthered

I think you're didn't want to say World Class. We have great players in each position, but we only have RVP and Rooney (on form) to be called World Class players.

It's a long season and if Carrick gets injured, we're doomed. We have a balanced squad but we need real great players in some weak areas, i.e CM.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nick,

It all depends on what you constitute as world class. For me, we have world class CB's in Vidic and Rio, a world class CM in Carrick and a World class CF in Van Persie - not to mention Rooney. Those player' have consistently delivered at the highest level, thus - IMO - they are world class.

Agree0 Disagree0

I meant to add that I agree that we do need to strengthen; but I don't think it is an absolute necessity, that will affect our chances of winning silverware.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nick86, if Vidic is not a world class central defender, I don't know what world class is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nick, if Vidic or Rio had plied their trade in Spain or Italy for any of our equivalent teams over the last few years, you'd consider them world class.

Classic example of not appreciating what we have in front of us.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 05:58:26
I see people on here saying that fellani will sign for us soon and that he will add to the team. I'm not doubting that but it's not good enough really is it. We are man united for gods sake and the truth is if we don't sign anyone else then this transfer market has been a disaster for the club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's going to matter to me how the club present the signing too. If Moyes and Co. come out and honestly say, we tried to sign the biggest names in the world and couldn't make it happen and Fellaini will add some steel to the midfield and a different physical presence in the air, and will make a nice squad option, I'd accept that and hope that Zaha and Januzaj can play a role this season. But if they come out and try and sell Fellaini as a big time signing and the player we've needed desperately, it will come off not only as fake, but as very insulting to all of us supporting the club. Fans can deal with problems if the club is just honest with them.

Agree0 Disagree0

I fully expect at least 2 players will come in we need 2 midfielders imo one a DM and one further forward ie Fellaini and modric /ozil /fabregas someone like them, especially as Rooney appears to be staying

Agree0 Disagree0

The club are never going to say that we tried for good players and ended up with Fellaini though are we.

Agree0 Disagree0

Felliani will do a job, but that is it IMO.

I don't think we will sign him now. I suspect our valuation of the player is no-where near Everton's.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 05:15:19
I've been discussing it with my mates today, and I really think a positive signing for us would be the retirement of Giggs. i've been saying he should retire for 2 or 3 years now. And while I admit, he does have the occasional positive appearance, I don't think he should be part of the squad still.

Not only is he a shadow of his former self, but every time he plays, you are taking away an opportunity for players like Kags and Anderson - and even youngsters, to prove their worth.

The club preaches "evolution not revolution" - well evolution includes moving the old out and bringing in young blood.

He was subbed on yesterday and was p**s poor. Watching the match, we were crying out for a player who could unlock the Chelsea defense in the final third - and in my opinion, that is clearly Kagawa.

Furthermore, I've never believed in having "player coaches". there is way too much of a conflict of interest. All players playing at the Prem level are ultra competitive, and with that, ultra confident in their abilities. So for a player to have input on whether he should play or not is ridiculous IMO. At most he should be played in cup games surrounded by youngsters in order to provide some leadership/experience. Its a joke that he started and was subbed for our first two league matches.

I very much appreciate his service and loyalty to the club, but I think its time for him to really take a back sear and focus on his coach role instead of player.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said.
I have said it all summer. I m happy if we don't manage to sign anyone. but then the chances should go to deserving squad players or coming through youngsters.
.hence every time we all stuck up seeing giggs in every match either starting or coming from bench. what a bad luck for those players and we fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he's so bad, ask yourself why he keeps getting picked. Having him part of the 1st team squad provides real continuity now that SAF has retired. I agree he shouldn't play too often but your analysis is way too harsh. Mid the youngsters were ready and good enough, they would be played. Perhaps when Kagawa and Nani are fit, or if we sign midfielders, then he will play less

Agree0 Disagree0

You are confusing a coach with a manager if you think giggs has any say in what team moyes picks. Moyes obviously likes the experience that giggs brings and he is obviously training well and moyes thinks he deserves his place. We have a tough start to the season and that experience is needed to get us through the first 5 games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post, 100% agree. But I wouldn't be surprised if at some point during the first half of the season that he calls time on his playing career to focus on his coaching officially. Perhaps that time will come if and when we add to the midfield options in the squad, or when the likes of Adnan Januz are deemed ready to make he step up. We've a tough start to the campaign ahead I recko Moyes is relying on the old reliables in the squad for the early part of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Absoloutely spot on. All this emperors new clothes crap is now just a joke. He was a great player but that was a few years ago. He lacks pace his final pass is poor to say the least and he is stopping development of younger players.
Before he totally loses all his cred he should bow out gracefully. It is sad to see a legend who does not know his day has gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with AJH if Chelsea get a top striker I think they will be the team to beat but spurs could also do very well

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe ryan giggs to be a sexual deviant who owns a sex tape of him in a threesome with sir alex and moyes, I believe there is no other explanation as to why he still gets picked and if the news of the world was still around they would of uncovered this by now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys he was poor against Chelsea and should not have been brought on. Anderson or Kagawa in the last 15 minutes were the better choice if you are trying to win the game.

I love him to death for his service and commitment to the club but it does speak volumes about squad strength when you need a game changer when you bring a 39 year old on in top level encounter.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 00:51:50
Just a observation from last nights game on what I think the league will look like this year.

City are the team to beat IMO and much better than Chelsea. I know they lost at Cardiff but they are by far a more complete team than chelsea. I think the city game in a couple of weeks will be very difficult.

On another note Spurs might surprise a lot of people and finish ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal. They have assembled some team in the last 3 years and credit to Levy. Paulinho looks a class player and generally their midfield is very good and Lamela will give them a great threat on the left wing even with Bale leaving.

I expect a lot of teams beating each other this year and winning the league with 6 losses is not far fetched.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Definitely Shahram

I think a record amount of losses for the winners and possibly a three way shoot out in the last two weeks. Allot could depend on the top threes involvement in the CL at that time as to where the title lands.

I think both City and Chelsea are on a par with City the better players but Chelsea the better team (currently) add obviously Jose exp in the league and winning it gives them a slight advantage but very close. If we get the signings we and every other human knows we need I would thrust us straight into the favourites position even with Moyes inexp with winning it.

Spurs IMO if they gel well (will be difficult but AVB can do it) they will no doubt get 4th and with consistancy through out could even pose a title challenge. Inexp could be key for them but they could also use the underdog tag and pretty much all of England would want them to win if they were in a title fight with any of us three.

Either way I think it will be a very close season if all teams perform and if we get our CM sorted and hopefully LB we will be slightly ahead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shahram

Not sure I agree mate. Chelsea need a top class striker and if they get one they will be very dangerous. I've no idea why they played the way they did on Monday night, it was very odd.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 08:37:28
Shahram, I expect City to be a really tough team this year. People forget they had several key injuries against Cardiff. I mean how often have we used the excuse in the last few years that we only dropped points because of our injuries and that we had to play Carrick in defence? And against Cardiff City had to play Javi Garcia in defence. I think too many people have just looked at the result and just dissmissed City as a threat.

City conceeded two goals from corners, hardly suprising as they had no Kompany, no Nastasic, no Richards even. They only had Lescott as the only defender who can defend a cross. People need to look at the bigger picture.

City have a good group of defenders, some very dominant midfielders, a few extremely good creators and a couple of top class strikers. They also have some good depth to their squad.

Add to that possibly the best tactician in the league as manager and suddenly you need to start taking them seriously. The only thing going against them is Pellegrini has never won a league in europe(although he won many in south america) and he has never managed in the Premier league which is very tough due to the gruelling schedual.

But in saying that I still think our main threat will come from Chelsea this year. Mourinhos tactics were hardly inspiring on monday night. But his team didn't lose. That is how Mourinho wins the league for most teams he manages. If you look at the talent he has in his squad then you will see there are very few teams who can beat Chelsea this season, obviously there will be the odd shock result but on the whole I think you would struggle to name five teams you would be confident of them beating Chelsea even 70% of the time. Most Mourinho teams only lose 3/4 league games a season. So Mourinho knows the key is to make sure he doesn't lose against the teams he expects to challenge him for the title, the 6 pointer games if you will.

Thats why he was happy to play a 6 man midfield against us and stop us gaining any early season momentum.

As long as Chelsea don't lose their games against us and City then they will likely win the league this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH

I watched chelsea against Villa and Hull and I have watched both city games. The cardiff score is very deceiving and it was just one of those days. They are a very good team and will only get better. I think chelsea is 1 or 2 years away depending on what they do and what their rivals do. I would be shocked if they actually challenge for the title this year.

I rate the spurs team higher and think their midfield is class and will dominate a lot of teams this year.Spurs also need a striker and If they get a top class striker then watch out.

I have us as favorites if we sign Fellaini and one other major midfield signing and left back to me is not an urgent issue and I would prefer a top quality winger to be honest as our wing play is toothless.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shappy

I know Mourinho talks a lot and the media loves it. Everyone forgets that his tenure at madrid was a flop, especially given what he had at his disposal.

Pellegrini is a very good coach and knows his stuff and has better players imho.

Aguero Silva, Toure are world class for me and their strikers are not too far off as a group from our group if you take the thing as a collective group.

When you look at their squad there is no glaring voids in any department baring injuries, whilst chelsea seem to be a lot of very similar type players in midfield and still vulnerable at the back in case of one major injury and toothless when it comes to strikers and one striker does not solve that as we all know you need 2 or 3 top quality strikers given the grueling schedule of PL and all the cups and Europe.

Anyway time will tell but I can see teams like spurs, liverpool, arsenal turning them over. I think City will be the toughest game away for all the top teams and any point there will be a bonus.

Come Christmas, I expect united or city to be heading the table and would not be surprised if Spurs are up there to.

Not sure City are the team to beat. I think they have weaker midfield than they had last season, as I don't think Fernandinho is any better than what they already have; and judging from the game on the weekend, both CM players' have a tendency to drift out of position, hence why Cardiff played through them so easy. They have no real cover at CB; so unless they address that issue, I can't see how they can rely on the likes of Lescott and Garcia to give them defensive stability when their main CB pairing are injured.

A lot of you have been complaining the past few days regarding Kloot and his opinions. Well, frankly, Kloot has a more consistent opinon than 90% of posters here. He doesn't change it after 1 game, 1 goal or 1 pass like some on here. Have no doubt, if he left, this site would be a lot duller.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The site would be more user friendly, clean and suitable for teenagers to read again.
People might actually post more. Without the feeling of being ridiculed by Him. {Ed004's Note - I agree with Gagus it's good to have debates on a banter site}

Reddevilfan,

Just ignore kloot he is harmless really and he generally aims his petty insults at a whole group of people rather than just one person. Debates from people of all ages are what our little family on here is all about.

Not fare!we all have right to express ourself, so has KLOOT. we should not say he must depart. if someone has problem with his thoughts, he /she simply can scroll down and avoid.

I find him quite amusing from what I've read over the Summer

And anyways if everyone agreed with each other what would be the point

Keep it up guys:-)

If people cannot take some words typed on a screen whether abusive but in jest or friendly as banter then they should decide themselves whether world wide internet forums are for them.

Not everything in life is pink and fluffy and i'm certain our own dressing room was never like that with SAF airing his opinions so exercise your right as a human with working fingers to by pass posts that you individually deem inapropriate or offensive as the ED has already done his job and allowed the post through as it has not been deemed that bad for this site.

If you have an opinion and want to air it by all means feel free but whether or not people ridicule the opinion is down to the fact their opinion is different and its up to the individual to decide if they take it as banter or not.

I don't mind being called every name under the sun for a specific opinion as I don't take anything to heart and can stand by my opinion, if someone shoots me down for that then so be it its part of the online forum experience IMO.

I am not complaining, put aside his hatred for the glazers:), it is what it is is say, he talks a lot of sense when it comes to other stuff and his assesment of some of our players is too far off.

Reddevil - he's not God, despite what he might think.

'him' will do :)

I believe we will sign Fellaini in the next 48hours, for a fee of around £24m. I think he will do a job in our midfield, add a bit of steel and bite.

But I really think we need an attacking CM too, someone who can break down stubborn defences with a splitting pass etc. Ozil wants to leave so we should go all out for him. Could have Carrick and Fellaini, with Kagawa, Rooney and Ozil behind RVP. We would be so strong! Please Moyesy pull something out the bag

We would have the strongest team and strongest squad in the league just with them 2 signings. Look at the list of players who wouldn't even be in the first team, lindergaard, jones, smalling, Evans, fabio, buttner, Valencia, cleverley, Anderson, giggs, nani, welbeck, Hernandez.

What a bench we would have every week. A lot of the players mentioned should be squad players and would be very strong squad players. This is not including januzaj and Powell who I hope get some chances.

Missed zaha out there!

Its only when you see a post like this that you truly understand the strength of our squad.I completely agree GDS2 a bit of steel and a more attack minded centre mid and we will be more than a match for any squad in Europe.

Just wanted to give my views on Rooney last night. Now those who come on regularly will know my feelings about him and the situation and so I won't go into it further. I also gave it 24 hours before posting and a second watch of last nights game before commenting as I didn't want to be seen to make any knee jerk views.

Now, I have read a lot of comments praising him and his performance, both on here and in the media, but I just don't get it! Ok he ran around and lasted the game, but what did he do? His first touch still looks very poor, his passing most of the time was over hit or just plain sloppy. He had a few poor long range efforts including what I can only describe as a back pass to Cech in the first half. To me, for all the running and supposed effort, he still didn't look interested, especially seeing as he earns huge amounts and should be trying to show he wants to be here and for all the fans support.

Also, he doesn't seem to be getting on particularly well with other players, it just seems forced and not real. I still think it is time to part ways, thanks for the past but he doesn't want to be here and I don't think his best is in front of him. let's just go all out forMata as a replacement.

Again, my views only as always.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You see, when you hate a player, you can only notice the bad things about their game. Not the way Rooney ran his socks off last night, nor the way he was our creator in chief throughout because, simply said, Cleverley can't create shi**, nor the way he managed the highest number of chances created in the match, nor that he was our only player who actually had a decent effort on the chelsea goal.

Fact is, he did have his bad moments. He was disposessed twice and conceded possession via poor passing twice. His first touch wasnt the best and he could have set up Van Persie for a chance but he was still, by quite a margin, our best attacking player

Agree0 Disagree0

Hate Mick? Really?

I don't HATE any United player, when they pull on the red I am 100% behind them. Just because Rooney ran a lot didn't mean he had a great game. His shots, passing, control were all poor. He wasnt our best attacker as that was Young for the brief time he was on, which shows how poor we were in the final 3rd. If Mata, Ozil, Fabregas or a fit Kagawa had been playing in Rooneys place, in my eyes we would have won.
