Manchester United are facing a fight to keep two of their brightest young stars - Ravel Morrison and Paul Pogba - out of the hands of rivals Manchester City.

Have we ever shown an interest in Hulk?

This guy would be brilliant at United. Can play both wings, SS and up top brilliantly. Surely there can only be a limited amount of time before a big team goes in for him.

He has speed, stamina, strength and a mean left foot.

i never thought pogba would be linked to city, but the signs aint good, he aint been playing for the first team when clearly we need something in the middle, but the question then is could he make th estep up ..? i think and seriously hope i am wrong but i reckon he's gonna be off.

As for Morrison who knows he seems like a bit to much o f aloose cannon, so he could be the maker of his own united demise there.

I personaly would love to see them both make it at united. But just have a feeling that they are gonn abe off..

we haven't had any new names surgested for awhile so i thought i'd throw a new name into the hat(or at least one i've not seen on here).

Andriy Yarmolenko, he plays for Dynimo Kiev as a forward/left winger. He's strong and very very quick, he's a skillful player who has the strength and speed to cope with the prem as well as being a clinical striker. He is able to cover several positions in the team and would certainly imrove our options either upfront(with pending departure) and on the Left wing where we have no natural left footers. He wouldn't cost too much either allowing us to spend on other areas as needed.

Let me know what you guys think of him.

For my two cents on this whole future manager thing.
In my opinion there isn't the perfect manager anywhere in the world to take over from Sir Alex so it's no good just pointing out the flaws in managers and disgarding them as we'll soon be left with no one. Sir Alex is proberly the greatest manager in our history and if not the greatest certianly the most successful, so how do you follow that? The quailites we need in our next manager are:

*A big Character, they are taking over a job that hasn't been available for over a quarter of a century and following one of the greatest managers ever so they need the right mentality to handle that pressure.

*A proven track record. We can't afford a gamble on a up and coming manager straight after Sir Alex, maybe the manager after that certainly not to follow him.

*They need to play winning football. Now i've said "winning" not attractive as i feel anyone who doesn't win anything within a year or two of taking the job will be labeled a failure by the press and would proberly find the job untenable as such. I'm not saying i want to see defensive football at Old Trafford but we need to be realistic to the pressures the new manager will be under to win.

*They need to have a good youth policy. This i think is vital to the job as i don't think money will be to forthcoming from the owners for one and youth has been the policy of our club since the days of Sir Matt and to change that would put any manager off to a bad start.

*They need to be able to handle the press. With our club comes a huge amount of press interest, so whoever takes over needs to be able to handle themselves when under the press' scrutiny as slip ups tend to be blown up to ridiculus proportions in the press.

Now there are no managers who tick all the boxes on that list. But the one who comes closest is Jose Mourinho, Now i appreciate he is a contoversial figure but he has the ego to match the size of the task, he certainly has the track record and the ability to handle the press in this country. His record shows that he will almost certainly be able to win things with us. So the only things that our left is his youth policy and his "style" of football. Both of which have show signs of improvement since he took the Madrid job, has Sir Bobby Charlton's comments on youth been taken in by Jose? possibly. I think he takes a job and his winning mentality takes over and he uses what he has to make the team a winning team, at Porto he had little money yet used what he had to win the Champions league, at Chelsea he had a group of players who needed to know how to not lose before they could learn how to win, at Inter he had to play to the strengths of his squad as he didn't have a huge budget to spend and he won the treble, at Madrid a team where there is huge unrest due to the behind the scenes power struggles and where there is huge pressure to win a certain way and he is doing it.
I like him as a manager but feel the controversey he brings isn't great, but then again Sir Alex isn't without the odd controversey himself.

So is he the perfect manager to take over? No But is he the best available manager to? Yes.

So despite the issues he brings i don't think there is anyone else more suited to the job.

United have been given the green light to move for long-term target Wesley Sneijder in January – and Sir Alex Ferguson insists he has the cash to buy the Dutch international.

Inter Milan are ready to cash-in on their prize asset during the transfer window.

And although Ferguson is adamant his squad is strong enough to fend off City in the race for the title, he has revealed he has the money to spend if a world-class player becomes available.

Sneijder has been on United’s radar for more than a year and was their top target last summer following the retirement of Paul Scholes.

But a £30m deal could not be agreed for the 27-year-old, forcing Ferguson to rely on starlet Tom Cleverley as his chief playmaker.

The 22-year-old was a revelation at the start of the season, but has played only twice since injuring his foot in September.

Further injuries to Anderson and a serious bowel condition for Darren Fletcher has left United short in central midfield.

Ajax’s Christian Eriksen has also been monitored, but Sneijder (right) is the world-class playmaker Ferguson has been desperate to sign. Inter are understood to be keen to off-load the Holland star’s estimated £200,000-a-week salary from their wage list to help bring in new recruits in January.

His personal demands were a stumbling block when Ferguson tried to bring him to Old Trafford in the summer.

But after seeing his side crash out of the Champions League at the group stage and the challenge laid down by rivals City in the first half of the season, Sneijder would provide the Reds a major title boost in the New Year. United can start 2012 at the top of the Premier League if they avoid defeat to Blackburn on New Year’s eve.

But their squad has been stretched to the limit by a crippling injury list that will have left Ferguson looking enviously at the world-class talent at Roberto Mancini’s disposal.

He has been at pains in recent weeks to insist he is not in the market for any new recruits – but has openly admitted he will spend for the right player.

He said: “If a really top-class player became available then we would go for him, or if we picked up any further serious injuries it might be important to add to our squad.

“Let me also reiterate, contrary to what some people seem to be fixated about, money for a transfer is not a problem if I deem it necessary.”

Sorry for bringing up sneijder again.

I think ravel morrison and pogba should go to bolton on loan. {Ed002's Note - That is not possible. You can no longer send two players to a single English or Welsh club on loan.}

In my opinion there will be no january transfers for us. Sorry if that offends all you optimistic fans out there. The problems being we've accumulated so many points with effectively a second-string team, we've caught City on points, we've nearly caught them on goal difference too! Fergie's been in the game too long. He will trust in what he's got. He will believe that what he has at his disposal will be enough to secure a 20th title. I've had my doubts but like I said, we've caught em and the second half of the season is ours! It's always ours! City will also know that. They won't be able to deal with the pressure. They'll be tripping over their wages and their egos. That said, I would love to sign a few quaility signings for us... but I can't see it happening. Whow would I like to see - Modric (premiership proven). Krasic - more to him than just a winger! And perhaps Cahill to sure things up at the back. We may also need a defensive midfielder... though that would be 4 transfers in and as we all know Xmas is over! There's no belated presents under this tree. (Ed - your views please)

Ed,..do u have the return date for Cleverley.? Is he back for training.?
If he comes for the game against BB, it will be a Boost.
If we Hit 5 in that game as well, we will be almost at the top even with the Goal Diff. {Ed002's Note - There is no return date given at this time.}

I dont see players crying for the manager thats show how he involved with his players.i am sure if he sees a potential in young player he will bring thim through balotelli is a great example of that

I haven't seen as much of Pogba as i have of Morrison but i think Morrison looks pretty good, with Pogba what i have seen he hasn't shined too much but at the end of the day they are both young and need a lot more game time before you start giving up on them yet.

POGBA AND MORRISON LATEST

As a Manchester United fan I am fed up with all this talk about these two lads. For me they will never make it at United so who cares who signs them. We need quality players who want to play for the club and keep out of trouble.

LET THEM BOTH GO TO CITY FERGIE

Ok , so people say jose spends big money on top players...now..lets not forget the bargains he has made ...ozil..sahin..swapping zlatan for eto +cash(freakin genius though it wasnt his decision )..wesley sneijder, diego milito(he was instrumental for him), ballack (although he was a free transfer) , ivanovic (10 mill) petr cech (11mill) ..which isnt that bad..even if he has spent big...he has spent it well...(drogba, carvalho, di maria)...assuming someone called shevchenko never existed
He is an excellent tactician, leader, excellent man management, hates barca like most of us and wants revenge badly.
+ is a big brand name (for our owners)
not better than Sir Alex but a perfect replacement for him
DJ {Ed002's Note - Cech was a Ranieri buy.}

hope everyone had a fantastic christmas.
Id like to weigh in on the manager debate thats been going on.
Firstly, sir alex has stated time and again that who ever takes over from him is goin to have to be VERY experienced.
If sir alex has any say, then we can forget all these young managers everyone keeps suggesting i.e ole, cantona, martinez, blanc, lambert, moyes and sadly even guadiola.
Personally i think we ll be lookin at managers with a lots of experience and a track record of sucess in terms of winning trofies. Its also got to be someone strong enough to take charge of the situation and not be a puppet.
The few names that come to mind are;
mourinho, ancelotti, loew... Guadiola's sucess could also mean his experience could be overlooked.
My personal favourite would have to be mourinho. His won trofies in 4 different countries. People suggest he needs a big budget, but how big was his budget at porto or inter where he won the CL?

People always complain about his boring style, but how boring is his style at madrid? He plays to his strengths, if he has alot of attacking players he plays attacking football.
People here have very selective memories, i mean have we always played attractive football under sir alex? Did we play any attractive football last season? But we won the league.
Sir alex may be building a team for the future but it does not mean the next manager wont put his own spin on it. Afterall, if the team fails to win trofies, guess who will be held accountable and fired? The new manager!
The new manager will not overhaul the entire squad but he will be allowed to bring in a few players of his own.

More scare stories in the Express this morning about Morrison and Pogba being out of contract in the summer and City are going to take them.

There is an element of concern growing with me at the continuing situation. We have not really had these problems with the youth before. Sure I will be castigated for saying this but is it another situation where wages restrictions by the Glazers is potentially placing us at risk. City will offer the earth but it is well known around Old Trafford that United are not high payers, we never have been but it is said there is an even more stringent control of costs by our American owners. Rooney had to break the mould to get the pay he could have got elsewhere, is that what Pogba and Morrison are having to do?

I'm thinking SAF could enquire into the availability of Ozil at Madrid, especially if the rumours of him not getting along with his teammates is true.

It was known that SAF met with Ozil after he was one of the stars of the world cup but he opted to go to Madrid. He's young, skillful and would be perfect for the midfield and whilst not proven in the EPL he's tried and tested in Germany and Spain and on the international stage.

With Jose and SAF having a good relationship I think this could be a possiblility if not in Jan then come Summer.

Also Ed's, Syd or anyone else - will Madrid need to sell for the financial fair play rules? Previously they always seemed to be bailed out by the Spanish State, but with the eurozone problems this cannot happen anymore surely...

Adz {Ed002's Note - Don't worry about the FFP rules.}

Isn't it amusing and somewhat ironic that 'Berbaflop' is probably the exact player Liverpool need at the moment? Someone who can put the ball in the net against lesser teams. He'd walk into that side (and never even break into a jog).

I was just watching the interview of Martinez after yesterdays game. He seems like a very intelligent man, very charismatic and gracious in defeat. He tries to play nice football as well, maybe he could be in contention for replacing SAF. I'd be happy to give either him or Brendan Rogers a go, imagine what they could do with a budget. Also wouldn't mind seeing David Moyes as Sir Alex' successor.

mourhino. My ten cents. His pedigree, track record even his percieved arrogance.. you could be just as well talking of ferguson. Who else fits that mould? No one.

The biggest hang up we have is what style will he bring. What philosophy. One thing we have in favour is that the guy seems to have a genuine humilty towards the club and its history and a great respect for the manager. Otherwise why is he aiming for our club?

Lets hope with that respect he matures (from being a pr knightmare too) and adapts and can you honestly say real haven't played some great attacking football in the last two seasons? Who has played great attacking against barce? Who could? And like someone said we play pragmatic when we need.

The dream would be his winning mentality moulding to the clubs philosophy and if he was interviewed by the club don't be in doubt it will be high on the agenda.

Well who else is a winner with the mentality of sir alex? Answer no one. Any fair suggestion so far has come lacking. Paul lambert? i heard someone say.blanc maybe moyes maybe. Good managers.. They doing well but not like aberdeen or porto which made them exceptional managers with the experience of doing it.

mourino for me with the hope he adapts and matures..constantine..
