Dortmund chief executive stating dortmund will have some news this week about players leaving, gundogan or in our dreams hummels????

|Think both ships have sailed as signing for United are concerned, would not be surprised to see them both end up in spain at Barca or madrid.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 21:32:37
Why on earth is no one being linked with William Carvalho? If his performances are consistently like the ones in the u21 matches recently then he's going to be some player? Any interest from United or anywhere else recently EDs?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - The last I heard was that Arsenal and Utd were interested but nobody would pay the kind of money involved.}

28 Jun 2015 22:23:58
Edging closer to Morgan Schneiderlin, intertested in Coleman is more like it. Vidal to arsenal I reckon tho.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

28 Jun 2015 23:07:57
I would like Schneiderlin to replace Fellani with Herrera moving further up the pitch or Mata coming in behind

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jun 2015 10:02:50
I can't fathom why we aren't interested in Vidal? Top class player and likely to not cost massive amounts. Should be all over this

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Jun 2015 21:03:04
Guys/Edd's, who do we really want in goal if De Gea leaves? I'm still a massive fan of Anthony Lopes?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - It'll probably be Valdes though coming round to the idea of Lloris.}

28 Jun 2015 21:50:54
Personally I reckon Valdes will have a season to prove himself with a view bringing someone in next season if he fails.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 22:00:24
Valdes makes sense if we sign at least 1 top quality CB and a top RB. With Schneiderlin possibly due we would have a much better defensive unit (keeper, defense,Hm) for the whole season than we had this year.
Hopefully this would offset the loss of Ddg and the amout of points he saved us

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 22:10:13
Valdes is a great keeper and deserving of the No.1 shirt. As mentioned if we sign say Schneiderlin, Otamendi and Fabinho. Then instantly our defensive unit looks a lot tighter.

As for replacing DDG long term I think we should look to sign a young keeper with loads of promise. Leno, Oblak, Perin, Horn or Karius look like solid options, or possibly Kevin Trapp.

28 Jun 2015 22:58:50
Cillessen all day for me.

Agree0 Disagree2

28 Jun 2015 23:52:50
Cillison is a good keeper. does he also cover the 'one for the future' concept that Shappy talks about? Just needs to be a lotcheaper than currently quoted!

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jun 2015 00:43:10
I think he's ready right now, he's not a fancy name or anything but he's verging on top class. If you head over to the FNV pages you can see the scout report I wrote about him in the Manchester United Analysis.

I don't think he's cost more than €15 Million personally, he's gone from someone I wasn't sure about to my nailed on preferred choice since January, the boy has talent.

I'm not sure where it came from but I've just seen that Firmino has been voted the worst ever Brazilian international in the worst ever Brazil side.

I know we were interested, but you couldn't make it up could you, as soon as Liverpool sign him he goes from the next best thing to come out of Brazil since Neymar to their worst ever player.

Bfro

Honestly going off last season I think you lot where poor for the best part of the season with de gea earning you a fair few points.

Fellaini was probably one of your best players used as a target man to knock it down to others and it worked.

Us on the other hand messed up big time in the transfer window not replacing saurez properly and Sturridge missing majority of the season.

I do believe we have a squad capable of making top 4 but whilst we have Rodgers in charge who for some reason doesn't like playing players in there natural position then I won't hold my breath.

This season you've got to fancy Chelsea or city for the title and if arsenal get the players they look like getting then they mite be an outside bet, but that's your top 3.

Agree3 Disagree4

29 Jun 2015 01:30:38
Lavers,

You have no idea who we will sign so you can't name the top 3, what you mean to say is I really really really desperately hope united don't get top 3 again so even though liverpool will come nowhere I can laugh at how bad united are and call the season a success.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2015 06:02:04
GDS2

The 3 teams I mentioned finishing above you are 3 teams who only need to add 1 or 2 players to there teams hence having a more settled side.

Some of the players I see linked to you will need time to settle and also I think your just going for " big name signings " (Ramos and sweinsteiger) are these players who the fans want?

As I said de gea won you a lot of points last season so it will be interesting to see how you get on.

P.S I would much rather see my own team do well than united do crap

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 13:54:27
Post SAF era has not been good for us till now . Almost every aspect of Manchester United has been severely affected by his retirement . However there is one positive thing we can see . It is certainly the type of players we target in window . SAF rarely targeted world class players and usually used to buy overrated english players and regularly failed to replace players or weak positions . He ignored CM position for almost 5 - 6 years . Ronaldo was never replaced . Young, Jones, Bebe, Valencia, Smalling were bought (overpaid for me ) .
Now we are strongly chasing top class players. Mata, Di Maria, Falcao were top class signings irrespective of how some turned . And now we are targeting players like Ramos, Otamendi, Coleman, Schweisteiger, Schneiderlin who all are top players in their position . Hope our new recruiting policy strengthens our team and returns the fear factor back to Old Trafford.
P.S I don't mean fancy names all over the field makes a strong team but if every position contains top players then no one can complain

Believable2 Unbelievable1

28 Jun 2015 15:12:35
And look what Sir Alex did with those over rated players!! Don't always need the besting you can coach a team.
For us fans big names are great and I get your point, just knocking the great manager to make it is not necessary.

Agree5 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 16:34:04
So we should be an English Real Madrid, then?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 17:33:40
I am not knocking our great manager Brad. He was greatest manager of all time who could bring out 200 % from every player but every managers are not the same . It's not about fancy name but in transfer quality was not bought as much we liked

Agree0 Disagree2

28 Jun 2015 17:35:23
No Noucamp
Should do like Real Madrid only when we are in need of top players at certain position and those players are actually available . U won't want to fill the position with average players .do you ? Otherwise barcelona approach is far better

Wouldn't it b something if we could sign vidal and schniederlin lol . Schniederlin playing the holding role with vidal and herrera box to box . Di Maria and depay out wide with Rooney up top !! That would be some team, think it's just a pipe dream tho eh guys and eds lol if only 😡😡😂

Arsenal are one top striker short of a potential title winning side if they get vidal

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 15:00:57
Yeah if arsenal get him their going to b some side I think . I think Di Maria and herrera as our box to box midfielders may b a bit to lightweight jred m8 . Carrick as anchor with herrera and schniederlin as our box to box duo could work tho

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 15:13:29
If the Vidal to arsenal rumours are true, all they are lacking is a goal poacher, this in my opinion would make their squad strongest in the league. For a side who wanted to get their transfers done earlier looks like we're lagging behind a bit 19 days till pre season

Nomid

Your new name should be the grass is greener on the other side LOL.

I will wager we finish ahead of arsenal and happy to hand over the cash to ed001 in Dubai as long as someone does it at your end that the eds vouch for.

Arsenal need a holding midfielder and a central defender. Their goal keeping is decent but not great so chec will help in that department.

They have never lacked in the midfield area and will you sit Ramsey to Play Vidal or Willshire? does he offer them anything those 2 don't and do you think Wilshire will agree to sit on the bench, because Ramsey is better than Vidal and in this crazy market he is a genuine 40 mill plus player.

Agree1 Disagree1

28 Jun 2015 17:50:13
Pepgiggs

An arsenal fan asked if there was a chance vidal would sign for them which he/she replied "of course"

Then another mentioned something about 1% to which he/she replied it's a lot more than a 1% chance of signing (or something along them lines)

Hardly told them he's signing.

If Ed002 was posting here and we asked the same questions I'd imagine he/she would give the same reply

It does appear ed is giving them more than a bit of hope, especially with his comment 'alot more than 1%' or whatever he said.maybe he would have if someone hadn't pissed him off. Be nice to get a new comment off him from our side! Seems like none of the eds want to comment on the vidal situation at the minute

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 21:28:19
Gcu. Not at all. We are stronger than arsenal in a lot of positions. But they're lacking a top aggressive midfielder, as we are. But I think if they get vidal and a decent striker then they will challenge next year.
As for betting, let's see who they get and who we get before making any silly bets!!

28 Jun 2015 13:18:05
Hi guys, just back from a week away in Spain! Haven't had much chance to see the rumours etc, so from what I gather Schnedierlin looks likely? Would personally be very happy with him. Been fantastic at Southampton, and when he didn't eg his move last summer he got his head down and had a great season. Instead of just sulking, which makes me think he has a good attitude. I think we will announce some deals next week, as I don't know if any one has seen the Giggs quotes today? About strengthening the spine of the team, and I think he said especially the midfield (I may be wrong on that part). I do think we will sign a couple of midfielders, and schneiderlin would be an excellent start! Giggs also made a point if star names were available we would be after them, which makes me think the other midfielder (if we sign 2) could be sweinsteiger.
Also to all the people complaining about us signing gaitain (I think ed2 mentioned on another page we are interested) we need to remember we are playing champions league next year, and will need a bigger squad with more quality. Nani, will be moved on as he's had so many chances. My view on gaitain is the guy obviously has some quality about him, so trust the scouts who will have watched him closely I'm sure as they are paid to help identify the players who will best fit the team.
Personally I think this window will be exciting for us, and let's not forget Depay has already signed, what a player he could be!
Sorry for the long post!!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

28 Jun 2015 12:14:08
If you had the choice of either schneiderlin or vidal to join our midfield who would you choose.

I only ask as last year we was all crying out for vidal myself included.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Jun 2015 12:29:02
Why not both Vidal is more box to box closest midfielder to Robbo/ Keane .If i had to choose it would be Vidal though

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 12:38:01
Schneiderlin for sure. Vidal is great but Morgan is the cog in the machine.

Agree3 Disagree1

28 Jun 2015 12:44:41
Vidal may be the better player, but Schneiderlin will be better for the team. He will bring more stability to the midfield.

Agree1 Disagree1

28 Jun 2015 13:08:33
Schneiderlin is a much better holding midfielder than Vidal who likes to venture forward and score a few goals. We have tried herrera, Fellaini and even Jones in that role and non of them are suited to it and from a point of addressing the needs of a team, i would go with Schneiderlin as there are no doubts about how he would do in PL and how long it takes for him to settle in.

The only other guy out there that really ticks the box in that role is Verrati or Schweinsteiger.

Interesting quotes from giggs about proven winners if available we go and try and get them. Kind of leads you to think we are after the likes of Ramos rather than guys who have had one good season in another league and yet to win anything.

Agree1 Disagree1

28 Jun 2015 13:22:20
Imagine shniederlin, swienstieger or and vidal as our midfield 3! Obviously swap one for a fit Carrick and an on form herrera and that's our midfield sorted! Fellaini for cup games or as an impact sub to lump up to! Vidal won't happen! We missed that boat and didn't take the chance on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 13:44:17
I agree schneiderlin is the more important fit for our team and with schneiderlin in the middle it could allow herrera more freedom to bomb forward which is something he could do much of last season particularly when Carrick was injured.

Cheers for the replies

Let's hope we get schneiderlin tied up soon

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 13:49:47
Vidal and scheiderlin are different types of players. I would like both.
Vidal will be my choice. If he goes to arsenal and stays fit, then they'll be favourites to win the Pl next year.

Agree1 Disagree1

28 Jun 2015 13:54:54
Vidal would be my choice. However I fear that boat has sailed. Schneiderlin Coukd work well with Carrick and Harera as a 3 with him stepping in as HM to give Carrick a break.
Could allow us to bring an older head like Schweinsteiger as well for rotation. he has showed he can do Hm as well as more box to box.
Carrick, Harera, Schneiderlin Schweinsteiger, Fellaini, Pereira would give us great depth and variation through the middle.

Agree1 Disagree1

28 Jun 2015 13:59:47
Schneiderlin all day . Not because he is a better player but because he is the player we are in desperately in need of . A vidal type player can wait for a season

According to the eds and most tabloids he's agreed a deal with an unnamed club. Will be revealed next week! Ed said 3 clubs have made 4 offers for him, I'm guessing the 3 choices he had are us, arsenal and real Madrid?!?! Most people are claiming he has chosen arsenal! I'd be gutted if that's true! They have so many midfielders! Might make Wilshere available though

ESPN reporting our interest in Coleman. I think he is the best in his position in the league ( probably world). Wont mind if we get him for 30 million. Has better defending and attacking compared to both alves and clyne.

I'd be over the moon if we signed Coleman, by far the best option , the £15m qouted I don't think will be what Everton want tho but if we have the money go for the best option I say.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 11:44:04
He's probably the 3rd or 4th best RB in the league, never mind the world. Zabaleta and Ivanovic are much better and Clyne is around the same level but Coleman is still a massive upgrade on Valencia. One thing that would help him here is that out of those four he's probably 1st or 2nd best going forward and would therefore, be a great outlet when we have Shaw fully fit on the other side. We'd need to sign a holding midfielder though to ensure we weren't caught out due to how far forward our full backs would play.

Agree1 Disagree4

28 Jun 2015 12:11:46
Coleman is by far the best option available and I'd pay whatever they wanted

28 Jun 2015 13:13:04
Coleman given his age is the best option available. Better than Clyne offensively and would be a great signing. I agree Ivanovic and Zabaleta both very good players but neither are available and both age wise not a solution.

Full backs have shorter careers compared to CB given the fact that once they drop a bit of their pace the position becomes difficult to play.

28 Jun 2015 08:13:26
Several respectable broadsheets musing that United can't lose by bidding for Ramos:

1. If he leaves RM for us (increasingly likely as RM have identified Laporte to replace him - though what a brilliant pairing him and Varane would be) we would get a commanding, experienced, ball playing defender who loves a tackle.

2. It strengthens our bargaining position with DDG: if they play ball, we play ball. Plus, if they want £50m for Ramos, then we want £35m for DDG - behind all the posturing, a deal could be sorted out.

3. We don't have to sell DDG to RM, so we can afford to play hardball with them. Even if he leaves for free next year, another year of Dave (who genuinely loves us and only wants to go for personal reasons) is surely worth sacrificing the low fee RM are currently offering.

4. And if we don't get Ramos, then other good defenders out there (please see the excellent analytical report from Mr Moonrinho) Looks like Benatia could be available also.

So, even if Ramos is just using us for a better contract, we can't really lose - either we get a cracking defender or we get a better deal for DDG.

Part of me still thinks Ramos is a distraction and the real target at madrid is Benzema but your points are all valid. I must say I'm enjoying the Billy Big Balls show laid on by Ed Woodward, being a real stern negotiator at present with real madrid and so they should meet our evaluation just like we met there's with Di Maria!

Well on euro pages ed said Hummels looks set to stay and on gunners page looks like Laporte is real target for Ramos so I guess a deal can be done with DDG as leverage but wouldn't be surprised if Varane made way to Chelsea to accommodate Laporte.

Well its nice that someone at OT has grown a pair. Real have bullied us and got their own way for far too long but it seems we are now standing up for ourselves.
64M for Ramos? Sure and we want 45M for DDG. Now put up or shut up. If Ramos suddenly gets cold feet then any DDG deal is off. let's see whos playing games? let's face it, if Real want DDG for 15M we may as well hang onto him for another year.
Good to see us behaving like the big club we are for a change.

I always said we would never sell DDG for anything under 25 million Pounds. It is a matter of what the valuations for players are in this market and no club will get bent over and allow something like this. It is not about DDG but a precedent that a club like ours can not afford to set and to be frank can afford to play hardball.

I mean let's face it they skinned us on Di Maria, so they can have him but pay the rate.

{Ed007's Note - Is this some kind of ransom demand? Be careful with that $hit Kid, you could end up dubbed up here. They already know you'll leave Adidas trotter marks...

Even I have the financial might to outbid that £25ish fee. Jokes aside a tabloid is reporting he will be a United player by wednesday, another paper says Southampton wants the deal to happen as early as possible so they can buy their replacement but United still are waiting for S.Steiger before making any decision on S.lin. I also read somewhere that both Schneiderlin and S.Steiger are wanted by United.

Midfield.

Is that Steve Steiger or Scott Steiger? I prefer Scotts brother Rick anyway.

I would take both as we need to beef up our midfield with potentially playing 55 to 60 games next year.
