Imagine if we do succeed to bring in Falcao permanently, sign Bale as reported, sign Shawcross, sign Valdes for free
Mmmmmmm ed mmmm

Signing bale for the figures quoted in the media would be a mistake. £90m transfer fee and £300k pw in wages. Not worth it in my opinion. I would try and buy reuse, strootman and garray with that same £90m. It would improve more areas of the team and be better value for money.

Don't get me wrong, I like Bale and think he would improve the team, but not at the figures being quoted. He is worth maybe £35m transfer fee and £150k pw max.

Shawcross & Valdes, seriously?

I'd rather we went all out for Ronaldo. Appreciate it won't happen though.

Agree0 Disagree2

I would be concerned about Ronaldo's left knee. Too often we see them put an ice pack on it which makes you wonder what the problem is. We got stung with and a degenerative condition when we bought Hargreaves so we would have to be very careful. I have noticed the heat shall we say in the Ronaldo rumours has cooled. Maybe a swansong in 3 or 4 years depending on the situation but I can't see it before then.

Bale would be a great signing imo

Agree2 Disagree0

Bale would be a great luxury buy. But he is not an immediate need at all.

We should look to him not the next summer but the one after that. I would rather go for Reus. A better player technically, more versatile and would come a lot cheaper.

Where would bale play exactly? We have di Maria and januzaj, he is a great player but for 90 million? No for me in the slightest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reus over Bale any day. Well Said RedFaith!

Bale would be a fantastic buy, could you imagine Di Maria and Bale either side of Falcao? There wouldn't be many better attacks out there.

But we must prioritize centre backs and midfielders first.

Bale is likely to be the best player in the world in a few years time, third best player behind Ronaldo and Messi.

I for one would love to have him, can play anywhere along the front line and drop deeper.

If we got Bale, I'd actually put Di Maria back in midfield where he's played better for the best part of a year. Then Bale, Falcao and Januzaj as the front three.

I think in the unlikely event that transfer happens januzaj would depart, maybe even in part ex.

I don't want Rooney to play if fit. He will only grab the winner, or as some like to call it "Getting the stat to mask a terrible performance"

Believable4 Unbelievable3

I can't tell if this is a serious post or not.

Agree2 Disagree3

Isn't it pretty obvious that he's having a go at the fans on here that like to criticize Rooney's performance no matter what he does?

Agree6 Disagree0

Wasn't THAT obvious until u pointed it out loko ;)

So as it stands Rooney, Jones and even Falcao could all miss the City game. Not so concerned about Jones, but in a big game like this I really feel like we need Rooney and we need the option of Falcao to match City's attack. If those two are missing I am even more concerned that I would normally be going into this game.

Fresh you worry too much. :) The team is on the right track, it will take time there will be plenty more highs and Lows over the next 8 weeks, there will be lots of knee jerk reactions on here from the usual doomsday supporters, those of us who understand and those of us who have been around long enough will realise that Rome was not built in a day. LVG has not had the same personelle to pick from for 2 games running, a lot of lads from abroad need to settle in a new country.
The Beast has made some very valid points re the teams form and questioned LVG's decisions (well in fact he has questioned everything LVG has said done or not done for the last 30 years) but I am not in the least bit concerned with the management team at this time and I believe that while the immediate results will be somewhat inconsistent in the medium term we will be fine. time patience and a little understanding of the task at hand is needed Should city sack their manager after such a poor start with a team of champions?. Is kompany suddenly useless? Is ya ya finished because he has not matched last seasons form? Just as well the Beast is not a city supporter it looks worse for them depending on which way you look at it.
Knee jerk reactions from supporters is the way of the world infortunately.
If you use the crteria set out by some supporters Wenger, rodgers, pellagrini and martinez should all be fired on this seasons showing and Big sam should be manager of England Brazil and Germany at the same time he is so good.
Patience and not concern is what is needed

If we ever go to war Ken I want to be next to you listening to your war cry. William Wallace would be proud.

I am very happy with a lot of aspects, we are beginning to see signs of true fighting spirit and belief within the squad, this leads to greater confidence and gives an air of authority on the pitch. Last minute goals late comebacks were sorely missing last season.
We are also showing much more attacking flair and moving the ball a lot quicker which will only improve with a fit Herrera and when falcao claims a regular staring berth.
There has been a lot of tinkering with formations but unlike playstation / computor footie (where some of our posters seem to spend too much time) where you can slot players in and out of teams and play on REAL football is a little different because players are human and are not robots, new surroundings normally take time to adjust to ok some hit the ground running such as costa but he went into a very settled successful environment and had a full pre season unlike di maria blind falcao rojo so the players and the coaching team are settling in to their new environment working out the league, how they need to adapt their style to play and make an impact in the EPL.
LVG said we will begin to see after 3 months some significant improvement I think we are seeing at the very least significant improvement in some aspects of our game, and yes the are some areas that have shown little or no improvement But I am seeing enough to know that we are on the right track and not as far behind as some on here would have you believe. )))

Good post Ken and there are obviously two sides to the coin - its important the majority of our fans back the manager because he is our manager at the end of the day. I suppose the major difference between LVG & Pellegrini for me is that City have just won the league with Pellegrini, you earn time in this job now. He also hasn't been given £150m to spend and come out saying one thing and then doing another. Every week LVG back tracks on something he has said previously, so I genuinely don't trust him.

I was actually excited when we hired him, we needed a strong character and I brought into the media hype and the big idea. However after reading more about him, listening to what he had to say and then seeing our product I started to feel uncomfortable which has now led me to calling for his head already.

Some people may say his record is good, but I personally don't think it is that great when you look at it closely. My view may be a little knee jerk in some peoples eyes, but its more case of identifying the problem before it grows into a major issue. For example I would go to the doctor if I noticed something going wrong with my body, I wouldn't wait for my arm to fall off first!

Ken,

Absolutely spot on, I was starting to feel like I was going mad reading some people's opinions on this page and feeling I was the only one seeing the improvement and enjoying this season!

Beast,

But can't you see how ridiculous you sound calling for the head of a manager 8 games into his spell? If you were excited at first and have changed your opinion so quickly, why not give him some time to change it back? What would sacking him now (which 100% is NEVER going to happen) actually achieve?

If you were at the stadium and you shouted out LVG should leave you would get so much abuse it is unreal. You know full well it is not going to happen as well, so you aren't achieving anything other than getting people to argue with you on the matter.

Rooney doubtful for Man City clash after injuring himself in training.
It doesn't get any easier for us.

I really feel that we need him over Mata in this one.
