I bet people doing 12 hour shifts in factories over Christmas time or getting shot at in the army or the paramedics trying to save someone's life while being assaulted off a drunk are all getting their violins out at poor footballers having to go training on Xmas day and sitting on a coach while it's a bit cold on boxing day, the fact they may triple these people's annual salaries in one week and retire 30 year earlier than other people is ruined for them by having to pop into a school or hospital every now and then . I get market forces dictate their salaries and good look to them good work if u can get it but implying they have it rough is just laughable, if anyone in the real world was unhappy at aspects of their job they would be quickly met with we'll go do something else if yr not happy with it .

Very true Slate. Most footballers don't know how lucky they are. I can name a few in our team, pogba, Shaw etc. But then you have the genuine ones like Mata, who restore your faith in humanity.
When I get the address, they'll be hearing from me! Haha.
Have a good Easter and to the rest of the posters and Eds.

Just a post in praise of Lukaku. During the summer there was a lot of scepticism toward him, and debate about the likes of Moratta and Lacazette being better options. Coming toward the end of the year, he has been fantastic for us. Starved of supply and support at times, he's still on course for his best ever goal tally, plus chipping in with some assists. A player who has really worked on his overall game this year.

The only striker in the league I'd take over him is Kane. Close to player of the season for us.

I was one of the ones who didn’t think he would fit and didn’t really rate him. I have to say that I’ve been really impressed with him, his link up play has been excellent and he’s always putting in a shift for us and never stops trying and even tracking back to help out. His link up reminded me a lot of Andy Cole/ Dwight Yorke, would like to see him partnered with someone maybe rashford upfront and create a partnership.

Been really good for us was the type of striker we had been missing .

Really good return from him imagine how many he would score if he had some creativity around him giving him more than one chance a game.

What I like about him, is that even when he’s not scoring you can see defenders are terrified off his presence. You can’t get too tight because he can turn you, and if you stand off he’s got blistering pace for such a big man. He stretches teams, something Zlatan couldn’t. He’s been a great signing and at 24 will only get better.

Surely you would at least consider Aguero?!

He's been very good, and you seem to be able to see improvements in his weaker areas through the season. Been a great signing and 10 times the player Morata has shown us this season.

For anyone doubting Lukaku look at his goals tally for his first season with us then go compare it with Cole, Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov. Some class strikers in there and Lukaku has outstripped all of them.

I remember a year or 2 ago my lad said he'd be brilliant for us I went on a massive rant of how he was crap and I'd throw myself from something high if we signed him.

Fast forward a bit and he is my favourite current player the desire he shows every match is inspiring and a few of the current crop should take a look at him and hang their head in shame.

He has been brilliant for us and will only get better.

Do any of the eds know who that secretary is who joined from spurs and what their actual role is? do ye think united will sign 2 cm's? thanks eds as always 👍.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - are you seriously asking what a club secretary does? After 9 years or so in the role you are asking about him like he only just joined.}

29 Mar 2018 07:52:26
Ed 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 class 👍👏.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am just really shocked. It is not like the guy is new to the job. I wondered if it is because he just found out the club secretary was born in Liverpool or something? People do seem to get very bothered by things like that, yet they didn't mind a Liverpool legend and former captain managing the club. Probably because most people don't even know Matt Busby was a legend at Liverpool before he took charge at Man Utd.}

We hasn't or isn't John Alexander retiring? There's been an article written stating we have taken on rebecca Britain from Tottenham and the role is being split into 3 with one part being a director of football operations. Not sure if it's all true but would be interesting to know who we are looking at if it is.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - director of football is nothing to do with a club secretary. I don't know anything about John Alexander retiring though. That would be a big loss.

There has been talk of a DoF, but not sure how that relates at all to a club secretary.}

29 Mar 2018 10:16:46
Think it relates to John Alexander retiring . he came from spurs and is being repalced by Rebecca Britain also from Spurs. as reported in todays MEN . It could possibly lead to a shake up with a DOF being appointed. or so the report speculates.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The DoF Manchester United want was not interested in the job. It is unrelated to anything to do with club secreatary.}

29 Mar 2018 11:02:26
Club secretary runs the admin. Its reported we want a DoF but no names mentioned. We need one but not sure who's available.

This is why we need to ban these stupid international breaks. People go stir crazy with no actual football.

Thus we see threads like
What does our secretary do?
Social media and it's evils
You are a primadonna if you don't go to dinner with your teammates.
