Any chance of us actually getting the 5 players we need to replace Giggs scholes Ferdinand Vidic Evra? I think we would be doing well just to try and replace them never mind having a big squad clearout of deadwood on top. there's probably another 8 or so that should be replaced but it ain't going to happen is it?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think we will replace them all, but they won't be a list like Kroos, Reus, Hummels etc. We may get one, maybe two 'big' names but the rest will be up and coming young players I am sure.

Hi all.

Don't know if this will make the banter page or possibly be relegated to the teams page. However I have been thinking about a realistic squad for next year based on some rumours and how attractive we realistically are to top players.

Keepers: de gea, Amos. Reserve : Johnson

Yes this leaves us weak but Amos is a solid keeper and with de gea in position as no1 anyone we could get would have to be satisfied being no2. I don't kn

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lindegaard will probably stay on for one more year, he may feel that he will get a new chance under a new manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lindegaard must know he's going to be back up to De Gea whoever the manager is.

Here's a new one, Shaw is now following Rio, Rooney, Jones and Phil Neville on twitter. Clutching at straws much? Lol!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 May 2014 23:21:52
Well Willian followed Coutinho and Lucas last year when he was in talks with Liverpool and we all know what happened then.

"couldn't have asked for a better owner"

Sorry, Paddy The Irishman, I know we're all being respectful to a guy who's just died, but I think that's going a bit too far, mate.

Although, some of the posts I've seen from supposed United fans on social media regarding Glazer's death, just leave me feeling a bit sad. Some real hateful, bile.

The old phrase, 'if you've nothing good to say about someone, say nothing', obviously doesn't apply any more.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Exactly SK, I was taught if you have nothing good to say, then say nothing at all. PTI has said some bizarre stuff, must be a young lad. I'm sure it was him on the Liverpool page saying he wants them to win the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't get what your saying StevieK am I or the people on twitter being respectful disrespectful beacause Malcolm Glazer really cared for the club who him and his family are supposed to be investing 150-200 million in

Agree0 Disagree0

StevieK

We agree on something

I am sorry at anyone's death and it is not something to be celebrated. Whatever Malcolm Glazer has done he was a father, husband etc who deserves respect as a person in death.

However, I am appalled at the soft melodramatic nonsense spouted about how good these owners have been at our club.

Manchester United are now burdened by hundreds of millions of pounds of debt and further hundreds of millions have and will be wasted in interest and charges to provide the Glazer family with a growing asset to embellish their family portfolio.

Our success was down to SAF and in the main a core of players nurtured and bought before the takeover. In recent years, since Ronaldo's sale, proceeds of which went to prop up our finances instead of buying greater quality, we have failed to invest adequately and that is not helped by the club bleeding cash. By no means the only one, but it is one of the reasons we have seen declining standards. The last time the ground was seriously improved was money left from the plc.

So RIP the person that sadly died but anyone glorying what they as a family have done to the club needs to step back and take a good look at themselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

Paddy, only saying I could think of a few better owners. I wasn't referring to you as disrespectful, just the eejits on social media.

Agree0 Disagree0

What Paddy, you mean the club that Malcolm and his family bought without spending a single penny, and have pocketed millions from? But of course we should be grateful that they are supposedly allowing the club to spend some of its own profits on new players rather than ploughing it in the massive debt they loaded the club with.

I'm not going to revel in a man's death, but some of the revisionism that has been going in in the last 24 hours is extraordinary. Let's get one thing straight, Malcolm Glazer did not give a single crap about the club, he saw an opportunity to exploit a financial loophole in this country and has been making millions off the club's name ever since.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2014 23:18:27
The largest commercial football club in the world has to look for value in the transfer market. That and hundreds of millions of debt and more wasted on interest. That's the glazer legacy. Owners who have never once spoken to the fans. Nothing but a cash cow. Yes sympathy for the family but let's not soft soap the events of the last few years

Agree0 Disagree0

I knew it would happen some day, Red Man.

But Danny as well? In the same post?

I'm checking planetary alignments tonight!

Agree0 Disagree0

Redman I totally agree. I posted something earlier but shorter but it hasn't appeared!

Agree0 Disagree0

Here here some common sense. I am a Glazer opposer and always have been, purely based on the ownership model. But how anyone can take such opposition to a point that they revel in the death of another human is simply beyond me. RIP Malcolm

Agree0 Disagree0

Thinking of it now they weren't such great owners but I think we should just say RIP Malcolm Glazer and leave it at that

Guys I Think van gaal is going to leave any transfers until he has seen the squad.

I don't want a complete squad over haul I want 5 players max, 1 cb 1lb 2 cms and a winger.

My realistic targets would be

Shaw/Ben davies
Shawcross/ Martins indi
Classie/sneijder
Fabregas/Rakitic
Reus/Bakkali/xherdan shaqiri/ben arfa

There is so many players that I be happy with I just want a stable midfield and defence

What are your opinions guys?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ben Davies, Sneidjer, Ben Arfa. Just No!

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh dear

Agree0 Disagree0

First of all BIG V,

Ben davies - Ben arfa - Shawcross and dare I say it, nowadays sneijder, are not good enough for UTD!
I agree that rakitic & clasie would be a class act in CM.
Lastly those aren't realistic transfes.

Ben davies - Never any interest
Shaw - AGREE
Shawcross - not good enough
Indi - AGREE
Clasie - AGREE
Sneijder - nope, and Ed can his name please just be banned or starred out on this page.
Fabregas - LvG says he doesn't want him, plus Arsenal get first refusal.
Rakitic - Not much materialised on him.
Reus - doesn't wanna come
Bakkali - another dutch player we are 'linked with'
Shaqiri - wo love him but heard nothing apart from twitter (which I've been advised to stay away from)
Ben arfa -?!?!?! when have we ever shown major interest in him

Agree0 Disagree0

Bakkali is Belgium

Would taking advantage ofvthe current upheaval at Southampton make sense with a triple bid for Shaw, Lallana and Wanyama? Would cover 3 of our 5/6 issues.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd prefer schniederlin tbh, I feel he is a very underrated player

Hi all, If PSG follow through with signing hazard and real do likewise with aguero both city and chelsea will do well to replace them on a like for like basis, this can only be a good thing for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 May 2014 20:35:48
Yes, Chelsea will den come for Young, he looks like a Mourinho type player while City wil swoop for Nani or Valencia.

ED what kind of transfer fee do you think Bruno Martins Indi will command now?

If he has a good WC his cost could and most certainly would shoot up.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no interest in discussing money MB.}

Fair enough ED, I was asking because in the rumours associated with Indi no numbers were mentioned.

On a side note, do you think he's good enough to be a starter for us?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Not sure haven't seen him play}

29 May 2014 14:57:14
Wow, he was 85? R.I.P Malcolm Glazer. Thoughts and Prayers to the family.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He was 86. It seemed a little disrespectful that the ssn Ticker had him down as 85 for over an hour before noticing.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was 85, would have been 86 in August. It seems like you are being disrespectful posting that on a website redseven.

Agree0 Disagree0

GDS2 - It seems that there was confusion all around. The BBC and numerous other organisations had him down as 86 whilst sky and others had him down at 85. Given that the BBC have changed their article to 85 it seems safe to assume that 85 was his age.

Not sure how me suggesting that a news agency with thousands of employees should be expected to get somebody's age correct is disrespectful; especially given the ambiguity.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was just winding you up, I couldn't see how sky getting somebody's age incorrect was disrespectful either but you said it.

How many on here would want Miranda for anything over 15 million has hit his peak years and we need a young commanding Hummels Benatia type centre back

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We need a good CB. Age is irrelevant right now.

Lads,
Think its time we all faced reality with these rumoured transfer targets. Couple of points I’d like to make:

• Van Gaal has been brought in for a reason. To do the best with what we have and develop the youth.
• No ‘world class’ player is going to move to us without champion’s league football next season.
• Up and coming players or players with potential such as Depay are a possibility.
• Shaw will be about as world class as we get (still don’t think it will happen though).
• Think we’ll see the likes of Wilson, Lingard and Petrucci all get their fare chance.

Honestly believe the ‘world class’ signings will happen next year providing we obtain a top four position.

Hope I’m wrong with some of this, but that just how I see it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

LvG was brought in because he was the best possible option available. MU wanted Ancelotti originally and no doubt others before LvG.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with most of this. I think we will end up signing Shaw, Indi, Clasie, and Carvalho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets wait an see, then we can all carry out an autopsy. Be hyper critical of the facts if that's what you want.
A lot of what's being said is utter crap and we know it, relax its Manchester United for gods sake. I believe and read for that matter about 10% of what I see, try being more selective on what you consume.

Hi guys with xerdan xhaqri of bayern stating that he wil leave bayern for a premier league club, do u think he wil be good signing for us

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Liverpool are looking at him. i'm not convinced, excellent technically, very.fast, scores goals but his end product is hit and miss. But at 22, if he works hard on that part of his game, he could be a great player

Agree0 Disagree0

He has issues, but we have looked at him in the past under SAF. Not sure he is the type of left forward we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd prefer him to some of the other players we have been linked with.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we go for him I can see us getting his fellow country men Rodriguez instead of Shaw and Xhaka instead of Strootman I would be delighted if we signed these three as there top drew but would prefer Shaw Carvalho and Griezmann but that will cost a bomb and would not be shocked if we went Swiss I am shore LvG will know and rate these players

Agree0 Disagree0

I have always thought he would do well in the Prem I would take him at United

Hi eds, any interest in xherdan shaqiri? Big fan of his, still only 22 scored 7 and assisted 3 from 16 games. Looking to move to get more minutes. Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, but not from Manchester United.}

Sounds more like Coke to me. Knowing ManUtd, they'll rather get Pepsi for more. Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Ferdinand will be seriously p1ssed if Koke arrives when he's been released. We know how much he rates Koke.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh I didn't realise you meant the player, in regards to Ferdinand and the player, not so much :)

Ed, I know that you said we can't sign players until the window opens. But how come West Ham have signed Zarate for an undisclosed fee? Is that not a transfer that has been completed outside of the window? Sorry if I am being a bit ignorant or stupid here, just a little confused.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - They have agreed everything in principle he will be an official player on 1st of July}

We announced De Gea in similar fashion. Only earlier.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ed. So we could theoretically do that with Shaw and whoever else if all goes well.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Yes though clubs might want to wait until World Cup is over before announcing deals}

Just a word on our two England center backs. Can anyone see Jones and Smalling struggling for game time under van Gaal? By the looks of it he wants to bring in Indi who is a Stam / Vidic sort of player and I personally can see him being paired with Evans who is good on the ball. Jones isn't great on the ball in my opinion and Smalling is worse. Smalling I think out of everyone will get the worst deal and will play the least, a scrap between Jones and Evans to partner Indi?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - Personally I think Smalling is currently the best of the three. I think when people talk about Smalling the majority of the games they talk about are when he is playing rb. Though he needs to work on his passing ability}

As a defender only, Smalling is the best for me too. What he lacks is composure on the ball and his passing let's him down. These days you need to be able to be tidy on the ball so that is a real issue for Smalling. Obviously playing him at RB was so he can improve on the ball. Evans is tidy on the ball, but isn't a great defender. Jones can do both, but he still needs to learn not to fly into every challenge like it's a matter of life and death, injuries are also an issue for Jones. If Smalling had Evans' composure he would be first choice for England and MU. But he will struggle unless he improves his weaknesses quickly.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Who better to work on his technical side then LvG and hopefully Meulensteen}

We know thought that van Gaal really likes a ball playing center back. Would he want to mold Smalling into one or go with Evans or Jones who do have greater ability on the ball. Out of the three I think Evans has the least potential but fits the system best.

Agree0 Disagree0

Smalling could improve a lot, Jones too could become a great defender providing he gets a more level head. Evans for me should not be first choice, but initially I think he might be while LVG works with the two England lads.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2014 11:59:41
Martins Indi is a complete centre back, yes he is strong and reasonably quick good in the air and great in the tackle but he has very good vision and his passing is superb. He regulary finishes games with a passing completition in the high 80's sometimes in the low 90's. I think his pass completion rate for last season was nearly 89%.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shappy, I do think we will go for Indi if Hummels is difficult to achieve.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd really like to see Jones/Smalling and Evans used to form the ongoing CB partnership. unless LvG can model Jones into a ball playing midfielder(!)

As long as we're adding decent quality in midfield and left back then I'd like to think we've got enough in the squad to get a CL place next year with just a couple of additions.

We may end up like Liverpool in that we concede too many; but as long as we revert back to the that dynamic powerful attacking forward play, then I'd settle for that at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

We mustn't discount Michael Keane: immense potential (though does remind me of Evans)

Not sure if Smalling will be used at RB, can see Valencia doing that job (in fact plenty of potential cover at RBI: Rafael, Valencia, Varela. )

Personally think Jones will be converted to DCM.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently van Gaal is so strict that he orders his players to sit up during meal times. Should be quite a culture shock for some like Rooney who have just got out the high chair.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Surely the ability to use a knife and fork is the biggest hurdle to overcome. ;oP
