We may need another striker, but Hernandez and Welbeck need (and have time) to develop their games. Ole was similar to hernandez when he arrived then he became a more rounded player as he got older.
Still love Rafael and even Evra looked a little more measured today.
But on a different note regarding the twins (if Fabio in particular can remain injury free) were they playing for any other club in Europe, then there would be rumours posted on this page saying they'd be a perfect fit for our club.
Sometimes we don't realise what we have.

Once again all you Giggs haters have been proved wrong as he came on a brought pace and direction to the game. He widened the game and brought a threat to both wings. He was the difference in the last 10 minutes. I AM KLOOT

I think he has been left out tactically. He hasn't played enough
games to be relied on at this stage of the season. If we had CL
games we would see more of him, but I think he will be saved for
next season.
Sydney!

not sure syd but ill learn something if your right. never occured to me your scenario tbh,
thought he was getting up to speed with resreves and training. I really think he could have made an impact. today was nervy and a new option night just be the spark we need. but its reasonable your sense.

That was a vital win, not just to take us 5 points clear but psychologically as well. Mancini said he felt it would be a draw and that showed him to be wrong, it is a blow to City but must certainly not the end game. We absolutely must not blow it on Sunday. Win on Sunday and see what happens, if City win then move on but the pressure is really on them if we win.

In the first half we opted to have a stable footing with three central and I think took a long term view that we would tire them out and wear them down eventually. Our outlet was Valencia who had an outstanding game. De Gea has now shut those up who criticised and Rio had a good game. Credit where it due Evans continues to be consistent.

Being objective we were not very creative and relied on Valencia, the other point was that Hernandez and Welbeck showed their inadequacies quite clearly.

Great result , the first one but not the definitive one. Still 21 points to play for so must not get carried away.

So hows everyone after that? I knew from the starting line-up that we'd have a lot of the ball, We just went at them during the whole game without really making any clear cut chances, But we got there in the end and i went absolutley mental, Me neighbour knocked in to see was i ok, must of sounded like i was getting attacked or something haha

Valencia is a modern day Kanchelskis, He's an old fashioned right winger, He should defo be given the #7 next season

3 great saves by De Gea in the 1st half and a great tackle by Rio when it was 0-0 when Olson crossed for Yakubu

And how amazing were our fans tonight? didnt stop singing all night, In Fergie's interview they said there was 7,000 there, Brilliant support tonight

Roll on Sunday now, Hopefully another win against Q.P.R and then maybe Arsenal can do us a favour against City

That is a massive result. Part one complete, win the next and put tonnes of pressure onto Citeh prior to their match away to Arsenal.

Thought we played well, really hard game. Blackburn gave it their all. Not sure we set up right to start with but got there in the end.
Thought we were great at full back tonight, Rafa and Pat had excellent games.
Only real concern for me again was Hernandez, very poor tonight.
Oh well bring on QPR and let's hope Arsenal can do us a favour, then we really will be looking great.

Well, a tough game as expected but a HUGE 3 points for us!

I think tonight highlighted though that we are lacking a top striker (neither Hernandez or Wellbeck particulaty impressed, again) and a top, energetic CM'er to replace Carrick or Scholes (not that either were that poor, they just lack in mobility and energy when played together)

Wasnt that impressed with Jones in the middle, though that doesnt bother me as he is CB imo

In every other department we did well, especially out wide and in the centre of defence

Must agree with all the praise for Valencia - what form he is in!

I think Cleverley is going to be started again next season. After his
disastrous season which was meant to be his bedding in season, I
think he will go on the preseason tour and start again next season.
Sydney!

syd pretty positive if clev was fully fit he would be involved. was in tune with his team mates enough i think hed slot in. maybe a reacurrence? or the physicality of the game?

I think he would be an exellent addition if we can capture preseason and the start. It could the perfect boost to end the season in style.

my guess is reacurrence or some slight injury hopefully.

I keep witnessing people on here continually ask for hazard to be signed. But I can't help but think that an on form Nani is better. I am not sure if hazard could handle the premiership physicality. Would he assist nearly 20 times like Nani did last year. If hazard was signed would he be a winger or an AM were Rooney plays. Also doesn't hazard have a bad reputation and tbh I can't really see him becoming one of the best players in the world. Would like to see others opinions in him.

A move to Old Trafford would delight Cissokho, according to his agent Ali Barat.
“Aly wants to play in the Premier League because he feels it suits his game,” Barat told talkSPORT. “He has already turned down interest from AC Milan and Juventus because he wants to move to the Premier League and his preferred destination would be Manchester United."

I havnt really been on the site too much in the last few months. At least I can see not much has changed. They still let lfc use the computer at the asylum and Blair is MIA.

Anyway, this is the first part of the big push for the title tonight. If we can secure 6 points in the next two games, I cant see us losing it. Mancini's comments about the league being over if we beat Blackburn and QPR might be a bit of kidology and mind games but there is a huge element of truth behind them.

Everyone who i'v talked to and pundits and ex pros all have the assumption that the City game at the council house is a 3 point banker for City. They're struggling at the moment. I still think we'll be 7 points ahead come that game.

If we can stay injury free and Valencia and Rooney can keep their performances at the level they've been for most of the season, I cant see them stopping us!

Really looking forward to tonight

Howdy folks, Such a big game tonight, This could even be a bigger game than City at the Etihad, Anyone have any predictions for line-up or score?

Team id like to see..

__________De Gea
Smalling__Evans__Ferdinand__Evra
___Cleverly___Carrick__Scholes
___Valencia__Rooney__Young

Team i think Fergie will go with..

__________De Gea
Rafael__Evans__Ferdinand__Evra
Valencia__Carrick__Scholes_Young
_______Rooney__Welbeck

Has anyone ever predicted the right line-up on here yet?

For the score ill go with 2-0, Rooney to get both.

Id love a win here tonight, we always do things the hard way, But for once id like us to stamp some authority on the title and go 5 points clear and put the pressure on City before they head to Arsenal, If we win tonight and against Q.P.R then we will be 8 points clear before they even kick a ball. I hope we get a few players breaking into the team from our reserves as it would be nice for us to get some homegrown talent coming through. Also it would help England too long term. I think we have a good bunch of reserve players who could potentially become first team players.

It just depends on Fergies faith in them and their attitudes too.

In saying that i still think we need to add some experienced players to the side as Giggs and Scholes are oldies, and Fletcher may/may not come back.

I don't like to speculate on who we may or may not sign but hopefully we will sign some quality players this summer to compliment the young players that are coming through and have been added to the squad. Also hopefully we will have a relatively injury free season next season.

Sam Johnstone, Joe Coll; Charni Ekangamene, Michele Fornasier, Ezekiel Fryers, Michael Keane, Alberto Massacci, Frederic Veseli; Larnell Cole, Luke Giverin, Luke Hendrie, Jesse Lingard, Tom Thorpe, Ryan Tunnicliffe; Will Keane.

Does this mean that Pogba and Petrucci are both training with the 1st team ?

Would be great to see Pogba again tonight at some point & Petrucci before the end of the season.

Eden Hazard could be our David Silva, but dare I say better? If we could get him, it would be incredible. I hate to say it, but we should adopt the same 4231 formation as City.

____________De Gea
Rafael_Evans/Smalling_Vidic_LB
_______Pogba_Cleverley
_____Nani_Rooney_Hazard
______Hernandez/Welbeck

Imagine the football we could play? Especially with Welbeck up top. Nani and Hazard would play as left and right attacking midfielders, but would all switch positions with each other. Everyone from midfield up could play each others position. If we needed extra width in a match, play Valencia and Young.

LB, I still think Baines, if we're going to sign someone, would be the right man. Otherwise, if Fabio can sty fit, I'd play him there, with Blackett and Fryers pushing for a spot.

Shappy and Red Man are both correct, we need one top player to give us momentum and something to be excited about. We also need a couple little gems. I wouldn't mind if we signed cheaper gems like Clyne, Fischer, Strootman & Izaguirre if we went out and signed someone like Hazard. Hazard will get 20+ goals in a season so I think we wouldn't need a top striker if we got him.

Redman and shappy

I kinda agree with both of you.

we have done well out of low cost signings but then rooney rio carrick have equally served well at a higher cost.

but im not of the opinion there is a certain transfer strategy. I think we pay what we need to for the certain player we are after or need rather than searching necessarily on a budget.

rio rooney and carrick all wanted to come to ot
and we paid what we had too. no flinching with cost.

players like villa, sanchez benzema have been bid on but didnt want to come but the money was there.

one i think there isnt the british talent pool more likely to choose ot thats worth paying record breaking money on.

two that leaves foreign talent, we have ac milan inter juventus real barce, bayern, city, chelsea to compete with. each offering a different style of life to choose from.

some players maybe motivated by money or have a young family they wish not to move or heart set on dream move that isnt us, or the transfer fee or wage demands are crazily high or a player has shown wrong attitude after being sounded out. and then two expensive gone not quite right in berb and veron fifty to sixty mil.thats a lot of money to waste. and then there is the tax system, hell it could even be the eurovision effect damn sure we dont get nil points for the quality of the songs. who knows. I certainly havent listed all the factors.

but i personally think if the right player comes along that fits well, and wants to come then the price will be paid.

and we certainly cant set precedent in paying top top whack where every time a top quality player is available as clubs will just squeeze us. we have to have a price to say no too. in the current climate of neuvou rich clubs we have to be patient and continue picking up gems like herandeZ.

i think a marquee signing would be good for fan morale but unless the player wants us and we them then i dont see it.

am i wrong?

and looking at the impact of cabaye and tiote in their first season it isnt agains all possibilities that we could find the right players at a reasonable price to make an instant improvement. think of the impact cleverly made. would anyone say he is a 40 mil player? but the football was fast and inventive.

there are plenty of players being scouted who do have the ability to step up who dont cost the earth who may not be as prominant in the media becuase of the team or the standard of player around them and some names really are overrated.

I know I dont make conclusive sense. for me its just reasons to say it isnt staightforward and isnt necessarily about lack of or unwillingness to spend money.

just a thought.

Redman could't agree more on how crucial tomorrow is. Taking it a little further and saying how crucial this title is.

If city had stormed this league they would have had an air of invincibility which woud have made next season very difficult.

Extremely fortunate, lucky or what? credit where credit due: with this squad and this seaSons difficulties, blooding younsters and so on; to be in this position incredible and crazy and sums up this clubs strength, buys time to get this team sorted without cities ego being further strengthed.

This scenario shouldnt be underestimated in importance. Mancity faltered when honestly the whole footballing world thought us swept aside.. the effect of us winning the title to the doubts of the city players unquantifiable.

This clubs strenght lies in its title winning mentality and all the sheiks money in the world cant buy.

maybe they will get the worth of that. maybe even be in awe of that.
and let the fear creep in....

aint been pretty but follow through, get this title and on the thoughts of above. I'll be very satisfied.

lol what's the bets the boss has a well thumbed copy of art of war?

whatever dealings our lovable rft thinks hes involved in i dont much care. he deserves to be revered as a great and ill miss him.

..constantine..
