Hi Guys
I have to say that I'm glad the internationals are over and its back to cheering on he Reds.Don't get me wrong I'm as patriotic as the next bloke but watching England hasn't got the thrill of watching United.I hope we can return to the form we showed prior to the break and put Villa to the sword.
On our summer transfers. There are numerous names being branded about some viable some not so.Personally I would like us to sign Depay, Hummels, Firminio and Vietto.
On Di Maria I really hope he stays and proves to everyone that he is the World class player we all think he is.I also hope Falcao stays but I don't think he will.

I enjoy watching Ireland play international now that O'Neill s over them but the international break couldn't have come at a worse time we were just getting a bit of momentum going and we had to break up it dosen't help.

Waiting for England to deliver is like me wanting to see The Pet Shop Boys in concert. I've dreamt about it a lot but it's never going to happen, I will be forever disappointed,

As an Ulsterman, these international breaks have been a pleasant diversion.

Ajh you probably wouldn't want to see the pet shop boys if you knew where their name originated from.

Supasub - their name originated from friends they knew who happened to work in a Pet Shop You are obviously referring to the (American in origin)homophobic slur (and surely never carried out - fatal?)involving hamsters? People will believe anything !!

Any news on the Otamendi rumours. Papers were saying deal agreed for next season, if true and we can get Hummels aswell, that would be awesome

By all accounts we will need to pay a figure equal to his release clause I think

Getting both will be too expensive.

Otamendi with Rojo or an in form Smalling would be immense!

I think jones will end up playing second fiddle if we do manage to bring in Otamendi or Hummels. I've had a lot of faith in Smalling and I hope for our sake he really kicks on now.

I'm not too sure why people are pushing for Di Maria to be sold. Yes he's not been as good as we all hoped but it's his first season.

The lad has 9 assists whilst playing terrible and is only second to Fabregas who's assists have dried up recently. He's been sidelined for a while on top of this and is ahead of Ozil, Cazorla, Hazard, Oscar and Coutinho.

If he is played wide left in a 433 he will be devastating in my opinion and will assist a lot of goals. I think next season he will be back to his best.

If we could get Bale to play wide right it would be a dream!

Di Maria has had a poor season, but just have a look at these stats:

Top United Assist Makers in an EPL season:

Beckham - 15
Nani - 14
Beckham - 13
Valencia - 12
Di Maria 9

Just imagine if he is playing well on a consistent basis.

Beckham's record would be out the window.

I really hope he shows his true worth and comes good.

02 Apr 2015 15:52:25
That really put things into perspective for me. Despite not playing well for more than maybe 2 games and being unsettled he is still high on the list. I would imagine he probably has the most assists in the team also.

02 Apr 2015 16:18:37
I was right, Di Maria is the top 'assister' with 9 to his name, joint second is Herrera, Falcao and Rooney with 4. If you want to have a look at the stats they are on ES*N.

Stats, stats, and damn lies. ADM has been pants for much of the season. I'd like to keep him, put an arm around him and see him come good, but let's not use stats to suggest he has been anything other than a disappointment this year.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Apr 2015 00:14:47
Stats are BS. The fact is when Di Maria has played he has been a major weakness for us, giving the ball away too often and causing our other players to be dragged out of postion to mop up his errors, thus making them look bad.

I'm all for hoping he improves but please don't even try to put a positive spin on it. Ashley Young has done much more for us the season to warrant the LM role.

Agree3 Disagree2

03 Apr 2015 01:10:11
AJH, JMB,

I agree that he has been poor this season but if you remember last season we were crying out for anyone in our midfield to assist. A positive spin should be put on his performances and that's what he needs. He is a confidence player. Fellini was blasted last season by the majority of our fans but I am all for backing our players and giving them a proper chance to show their worth.

I'm only making the point that he needs time to settle down and come good.

Stats may not show how his overall performance is but to be second highest in the league and playing 'pants' is still good in my opinion. Ashley has been immense under LVG but we all know come next season the plan will be to use him as a squad player. An in form Di Maria will have us scoring a shed load of goals and I fully believe we will see this.

There are many one season wonder players but di maria is a one season flop player because i know from next season he will be on fire. So this selling him thing is rubbish

03 Apr 2015 09:11:50
Where should DI Marea play.i have seen people suggest on the right/left of a front 3. As CAM. as traditional winger.
The question for me is where. and then is he the best option there.
Would love him to prove doubters wrong though

@Brad76

He needs to play wide left of a 433 I think. A couple people have already mentioned it below but if he was playing well and played against Liverpool in that position, we would have slaughtered them.

Not really United related but I was watching a little of Raheem Sterling's interview in which he says he 'isn't a money grabber' and 'that he just wants to win trophies' as the reason he hasn't signed up at Liverpool.

He goes on to say that 'if it was all about money I had the chance to sign a contract worth £100k a week but rejected it and would have signed for less if I was sure I can win trophies with the club'. He also said 'he wants to play with world class players and was upset about Suarez and Gerrard leaving'.

Now if what he says is the truth (and I have no reason to doubt him) then surely we should commend him for putting money to the back of his mind and thinking about his future. A lot of youngsters get stick all the time for choosing money over development so it's nice to see the lad thinking about his playing career not just his bank balance.

Oh and by the way Raheem there is a club pretty close by in Manchester that's pretty famous for winning trophies. You never know what can happen in this game.

Not that I know of Herbie but big names like Owen and Ince have played for both teams. I don't think it would ever take place with Sterling but stranger things have happened. Good player though and will get better.

02 Apr 2015 08:01:39
It will be very difficult to sign him and he will be outrageously expensive, not just in terms of transfer fee, but wages as well. Not to mention the consistent media hype.

He is a good player technically and if he improves his finishing can be world class.

But I would rather get Memphis Depay who would cost significantly less and has just as much talent I think.

02 Apr 2015 08:05:27
It was a very odd interview, not sure what he was trying to achieve. If he was hoping to clarify things I think he has made it worse. The Liverpool fans will be less than impressed that despite being 20 and being offered £100K a week, he insists its about winning things. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Brendan is it?

He's a good player, will likely become a great player but this kind of interview puts me off him.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Apr 2015 09:25:06
He had one good season because suarez made all his team mates look better, look at his stats this season he's been oor, most over rated player in England I'd rather sign Depay any day.

I think we sold them Heinze.

I would take Raheem as well, especially if we say goodbye to ADM.

I think Sterling is absolutely being fair. He isn't a scouser, he is from London so he has no loyalty to Liverpool - it isn't as if he lived next door growing up. Yes, they have developed him, but in recent times they have been no more successful than Wigan. Why would be stay? If he has ambition he won't sign this new deal and will move to someone like ourselves, maybe Arsenal, Chelsea etc.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Apr 2015 12:38:42
I agree with AJH. There is no need to come out with this interview. It just leaves more questions than answers. He should just put his head down and concentrate on football.

Very talented player who should come good. I reckon he will be off to City if Liverpool do not qualify for CL.

02 Apr 2015 13:08:51
Where do you play him and who sits, sell Dimaria or Janusaj? I don't think so, he will end up at city by the sounds of it.

02 Apr 2015 15:22:42
I'd rather have Depay, has everything sterling does plus added strength and the fact it'd be a cheaper deal overall.

Phil Chisnall moved from Utd to Liverpool 1964 £25k, well spotted Ed002.

A week or so ago the rumours were him going to Arsenal but if it is about winning then probably Chelsea or City or abroad. I can't see (IMO) anyone coming from Liverpool to Utd.

02 Apr 2015 16:56:41
He said he needs to take time to think about his career and achievements, that shouldn't take long then, depay for me all day long, the price will be big cause his English, and all the hype that goes with him,and I hate the way he runs like a fairy!

I go to Uni in Liverpool, and have had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting and talking to the lad out on a few occassions, and based on his personality I wouldn't have him anywhere near the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Apr 2015 08:56:15
It may not be relevant but as I understand it Raheem Sterling was a Manchester United fan growing up. There have been recent rumours that he wants to play for us but not from any reliable source. Personally I think he is at the crossroads, he could become an unbelievable player but his finishing needs to improve, however whoever pays top money needs to be very sure he can continue to develop. I have watched him since seeing him in the youth games I think for England and was disappointed when he chose to go to Liverpool. I can't see a direct transfer even though Barcelona and Real have done them so to make it happen would likely mean him running down his contract.

I thought the interview potentially could have served a few good purposes for him. No one but sterling knows why he did the interview but what he said could be interpreted as any of the following: 1.saying to Liverpool you have sold Suarez and Gerrard's going so invest in quality if you expect me to stay as I want to win medals. 2.city/Chelsea/etc I am available and want to win medals and money isn't too important (however bidders would have in the back of their mind he rejected 100k so wouldn't want to offer too little). 3. I say money isn't important but want a improved offer from LFC. That said I wouldn't want united to sign him anyway.
