We only need a defensive midfield player if we d ont have the ball - if we do need one we have Carrick Fletcher and Jones

My wish list for midfield is any two from Modric Cabaye or Moutinho -

When we play big teams we need 3 in the middle and would imagine from last season SAF thinks Rooney can drop into a 3 if need be....

It would be good if we can do our business early though like last year

Pedroknight

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Greedy one you are... Modric and Mourtinho in one window? As good as that would be I would have one of them and M'vila but we are only going for one mate.

With Juventus securing two midfielders today (Asamoah and Isla) it would be crazy for Pogba to leave us. United must still be negotiating with his agent as there would of been an announcement by now.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Is Progba a Juve fan? because if he is, he will probably go their even if they sign 10 midfielders.

"Gab, I haven't heard you saying the same about Oliver Norwood ? Class act done well at Coventry which is a higher level than pogba has played yet he's gone to Huddersfield without a mention , maybe if he had pogba's agent you'd have said the same about him

Dustbin"

Dustbin I can't quite believe you're trying to sound credible whilst coming out with a comment like this. So are you saying you think Norwood is better than Pogba? Or do you believe all our youth players are just as good as each other? I don't really get it. Some players will turn out good enough and some won't. SAF wants to keep Pogba - why, because he is good enough. SAF allowed Norwood to leave - why, because he is not good enough for United

Either you have never seen either play much or you're just trying to make a point that isn't there

Either way I'll trust SAF's opinion of a plyer - and my own for that matter - over yours for now

Gav

p.s. I just worked it out - are YOU Oliver Norwood? Now that would make sense

Does anyone else think that if AVB becomes Spurs manager and Modric leaves then Moutinho might replace him there, or will the pull of Champions League football be enough to entice him to Utd if were interested?

DB-Red

I think the lure of man utd will pull him to us not just CL football lol its spurs for gods sake, united or spurs hmmm.....!!

According to wide media speculation it would appear that Modric and Baines are the next two targets of the window. It doesn't surprise me as SAF often looks within the EPL for immediate first team additions as they are relatively risk free and know the league inside out. As Sydney said, the confirmation of Fabio's loan move does hint that we have a deal in place with someone...most likely Baines I feel now. And also with the possibility of a Macheda loan to Besiktas we will be looking at a young fourth striker. I fully expect the striker to be Henriquez. This is what I think the manager is looking for to start the season with:

__________DDG
Rafa__Small__Vidic__Baines
_____Modric__Carrick
Valencia__Kagawa___Nani
_________Rooney

I don't believe that Nani will be sold, and I don't think Rodriguez will be bought UNLESS someone else puts a bid in for him, that is when we will act. I'm hoping that the plan is sign Rodriguez next summer and then let Young go - next year he will be 27/28. If Baines comes in I think he will be first choice, I can't see us paying perhaps £15 million for a left back to sit on the bench most games - if we were to do that we might as well spent a couple of million on Oveido or Izaguirre.

Anderson also won't leave but Pogba will. We can't afford to let Anderson leave as we could lose Scholes, Giggs, Pogba and Fletcher all in a year. That would mean we just have Cleverly, Tunnicliffe, Carrick, Jones and perhaps Modric. A little light on numbers. I don't think we are showing too much interest in a DM as Tunnicliffe will get games (much like would of).

Kagawa, Modric and Baines would all have to be registered, but they will take the place of Berbatov, Owen and Kusczack or perhaps Park. So we will be okay with the size of squad. I expect dealings to be similar to last year, around £60 million.

RedDevil19

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I really would love us to sign Modric. Imagine the passing between him, Scholes, Kagawa and Rooney.

RedDevil7

Agree0 Disagree0

I like the formation but would prefer moutinho instead of modric

unitedforlife75

Agree0 Disagree0

19, you cannot say that Anderson will not leave this summer. You have no way of knowing whether or not a club will make a bid for him this summer. United will not keep a player for two more seasons just because we are losing others next summer. Replacing Anderson wouldn't be hard. I will be surprised if Anderson is still a United player by September, then again I would be surprised if a club paid what our club will want for him. A makeweight in a Rodriguez deal has to be a real possibility and if Rodriguez did come in it will almost certainly spell the end for Nani at the club. I guess we will see soon enough mate.

Apparently Ganso rejected a new contract offer from Santos. Think hed be worth a shot, provided he could get a work permit. What do youll think?

Daniel

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I have heard he is injury prone. Not sure we need another Hargreaves.
I can see him going to City or AC Milan.

RedDevil7

Agree0 Disagree0

Would easily get a work permit having represented Brazil (hasnt featured this year because he was recovering from a long term injury) I dont see him leaving Santos tho because the only reason he rejected was because he wasnt happy with their offer, He has stated that he wants to remain a Santos player and his contract runs until 2015 so i think it will be another while before he decides to leave Santos.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

What did you make of Evra the season before this one? Because in my book he was poor then too. Seems more like a decline than blip to me

SAF's long term target Axel Witsel has been made available by Portugese giants Benfica. Chelsea are also in the chase for the £20m rated starlet.
I think it'll be a steal for £20m and we still can lower it by sending a player on loan.
Also ed, do you think we may go after Moutinho. I think Witsel and Moutinho are better suited to Man U then Modric.

Cult of Personality

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Are you a CM Punk fan? Witsel wouldnt go for 20million imo

Spot on with the Punk thing. Also I aint got football manager and to be fair, I haven't seen Witsel play that much. But I believe Fergie had wanted to sign him 2yrs ago and last year too.

QPR have signed Manchester United defender Fabio on a season-long loan deal.

So Baines will be definitely coming, this season will be Evra`s last season, Baines will be first choice for season after this then Fabio will be the 1st choice and blackett will be the back up.

Rafeal will be the 1st choice RB. Clyne is not in the list anymore.

MD_11

Believable0 Unbelievable1

"Rafeal will be the 1st choice RB. Clyne is not in the list anymore."

Clyne was never going to be a replacement for Rafael, he was always going to be signed as competition for Rafael. So Clyne will still be on the list and it is down to him whether or not he accepts our offer.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree2

So have we defiantly made on offer to clyne
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Several clubs have made offers to Clyne it's now up to him to decide where he wants to go. I think it's strange that Newcastle who were heavily linked have now bid for Debuchy, perhaps he has already made his mind up which makes us wonder what the hold up is? Or did he just rule Newcastle out of the running?

Modric, moutinho, baines and a striker

You support Sunderland then so don't refer to United as We. I AM KLOOT

Agree2 Disagree1

Dude he is the second best left back in England by far and is only second due to us having maybe the best left back in the world of the last few years and maybe the best english left back ever ahead of him

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see anything wrong with having a 2nd team. I am a United fan first and always will be, but I also have a love of Everton FC. Two reasons. Firstly my dad supports them so have always watched out for their results. Secondly since Moyes has taken over the job he has done on their budget is inspirational in the modern day of Russian n Arab sugar daddys. So give the guy a break. We all complain enough about ABUs so I think it is nice to see other clubs fans appreciating us for once.

According to balotelli's agent he is worth 200m! Worth a cheeky bid? ;) Needed that laugh this morning! he is so overated, he scores a good goal and he is praised but he gives the ball away so much and doesnt chase anything.

Welbeck > Balotelli

Ste-Utd

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Is this the same agent that Pogba has?

What a prat!

Cban

Agree2 Disagree0

No doubt Balotelli has decent potential to become a world class player - if he removes the attitude and focuses on his football he can become world class - but the best? 200m? are they serious? What has he actually done?

I am afraid Ste-Utd if you can't see the talent that Balotelli is then there is no hope for you. Within 5 years he will be winning the BallonDo'r . I AM KLOOT

Agree2 Disagree4

Jred, he did put in a good shift and did give away the ball, but when the rest of the team is non-existent what can he do? It was like Welbeck at the Euros, he done all he could do and done it well, but the rest of the team never gave him chances to bury.

Sydney!

balotelli did ok last night in very difficult circumstances against one of the best ever international teams , against germany he had a great game had 2 chances and took them very well.
welbeck done ok this tournament and his goal was a good one , but i would still like to see him have a great game rather than shown flashes of his potential if you know what i mean.
jred

Although I don't really see what the fuss is about, he is a talent. look at his age and then everything he has won...

Agree2 Disagree2

I think this looks a great well-balanced team Sydney!

Rodriguez and Valencia terrorising down the wings, the interchangeability I expect between Kagawa and Rooney, with Modric orchestrating from the back and Carrick carrying on his much under-rated defensive midfield berth.

Our 'principle' cover options would be great too:
Jones - RB/CB/DM
Cleverley and Scholes - CM
Young - LW/RW
Powell - AM
Welbeck and Hernandez - CF

Can't see us having 4 wingers especially as Kagawa could play there too hence I fully expect Rodriguez would replace Nani.
Rodriguez could also play in the Kagawa role too which I believe is why he's now top of the Uncle Fergus shopping list :)

Fervid never offers a 19 year old 45k a week which was what we have reportedly offered him that shows his talents. A former united player (google it if you want I forget his name) has also said he would surpass veira. Remember Scholes, Beckham etc were in there 20s before they pinned down a first team spot and you were expecting Pogba to do that now? Yann M'Vila was put in that position simply because he is getting more first team football and is more proven this doesn't mean he ha more ability than Pogba.

Hi guys watched the euros and I have to say really impressed by moutinho and Thomas muller.
I would like to know does anyone know if muller would be available at a reasonable fee because he's the kind of player SAF likes young and versatile.
Reading a lot of reports linking us to moutinho and he was very impressive. Good on the ball sets up goals and decent from set pieces. IMO we need to sign him and sign him fast. If avb goes to spurs and Modric leaves he will snap him up. Moutinho is the sort of player we have been missing over the last 2 or 3 seasons!
Does anyone know how serious our interest in moutinho is? Eds? Syd, Jenny?
Caolan

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I dont know of any concrete news abour moutinho, i will ask about. but from what am being told the 2 players likely to sign are modric and baines. modric has accepted the terms we will offer and the stumbling block is levy. i expect this one to drag out similar to berbatov. Baines representatives are listening to what united want to offer, but fee is still to be agreed with everton.

nothing else concrete to do with united at present.
