I think the Glazers have messed up United. £500 mill to pay off interests. I'm sorry to say we are finished. We will just be like Liverpool in the next few years. Whatever big player will want to sign City, Cheksea, Real, Barca will outbid us. Man utd are not the same force. Everything comes to an end, Mourinho will Neva leave Real for Man utd. It's time to wake up guys and let's look back and celebrate our record 19 titles. This summer Man utd will probably sign 1/2 players not even big players. Man utd dnt have the money and power anymore. Football changes that's reality. Everything comes to an end. Just been honest. {Ed002's Note - Manchester United have plenty of money.}

Whether United win the Title or not this year is something of an irrelevancy. The truth is we've been found out by too many teams this season as not being all that good.
The team has contained too many players who are not world, or even Premiership, class. SAF has conjured a decent league position but without significant reinforcements even his talented leadership won't prevail. The Glaziers have taken over £500 million out of the club in the last five years. To believe this has not affected the team is naive to say the least. Draw your own list up of who could have been purchased for that amount, would the team have been stronger, only one answer to that.
Unfortunately the Glaziers are not going away unless someone buys them out. Tough years ahead, the world may have changed forever.

Realistically, we need some kind of clear out of the more mature players (i.e. park and the noncelent beast that is dimitar berbatov) but we must also remember that this squad is in transition.

If we hark back to the period between 04 and 06 where we had a 'substandard' squad, 2 years later we won the champions league and the prem with pretty much the same squad, with a few of the older players being moved on e.g. keano.

Most true fans recognise that for every 3-4 years of success there must be 1-2 years of pain.

We cannot win everything every year. i, as a 19 year old brought up in a utd hiousehold have been spoilt by our success in my lifetime, but other family members have seen us in division 2, where we nearly didnt get back up straight away.

fergie will go when he wins the champions league/ crushes city.

Hopefully this brings some degree of sense to the situation.

de gea,rafeal,vidic,smalling,evra,valencia,martinez/witsel,modric,young,kagawa,rooney. This should be our line up for next season and being the richest club in the world we should except nothing less,for far to long we have waited for scholes,giggs and hargreaves to be replaced.ok everyone thinks evra needs replacing,midfield is our major problem,some will say these signing could hold back the youngsters,if there good enough they will get games its a squad game not a team game.this would be one dynamic squad with kagawa playing behind rooney with that midfield sat behind him we could rip any team apart,obviously the team can be changed to accomadate wellbeck,cleverly,hernandez.clear the dead wood nani,park,berbatov,anderson but hang on to scholes and giggs for one more season to teach the new blood about our great club and give them cameo roles when the games are won,joeyored {Ed004's Note - Why spend so much improving the team but sorting out the biggest liability in the team in defense. Evra should not be our left back next year}

We may have been second best to City and may have thrown away an eight point lead with poor team selection and tactics however we have not actually lost the league yet.

Personally I cannot see city failing to win both games, however if they beat Newcastle I have a feeling we may not beat Swansea.

Let us see what happens at Newcastle, there is always a chance that the pressure could tell on city. Whatever happens, it cannot hide how poor we are in areas of the team and without serious investment we will fall behind city. If city win it this year it could be argued we need an even bigger investment to catch up the confidence and belief it will give them.

It will be a major test for SAF Gill and the Glazers to see if they recognise not just the need to invest but the extra needed to overcome the extra confidence city would gain

Not sure about the 100 m thing and while it is needed in order to take us back to the top of european football, i dont think its gonna happen especially because fergy is not gonna stay for long and a new manager would need funds in order to buy the players he thinks are needed so the funds are probably gonna be limited until then. So guetting javi martinez and co might not be within our limits.
For the left back spot i think we should sign cissoko on loan with an option to buy him at the end of the season. This would allow us to see the progress of both fabio and fryers on their respective loans then make our choice.
As for midfield i would get kevin strootman and loan ando to porto or benfica. This would be his last chance to prove himself. This would also mean if he has a good season he will either get back if needed or be sold for a decent price ( 10+ mills ) which would mean overall he wouldnt have cost us much. This would give us a midfield of carrick cleverley strootman and scholes ( giggs to a lesser extent ). We should try to get kagawa asap also. While most of you are raving about eden hazard you should probably take into consideration that kagawa plays in a more difficult league and has a brilliant workrate and good attitude which cannot be aid about hazard. He is also just one year older and much more versatile. He could be used as a cover for rooney or as a midfielder. He will be like 2 signings at once and would offer the creativity we re all raving about.
I would also try to get one of mvila or javi garcia to provide a defensive cover in difficult games and allow tunicliffe to get himself a loan move.
I would also get clyne to provide backup and competition for rafael.
Taking into consideration that welbeck is developing well and that kagawa is a very good passer which would allow chicha to shine with the help of good through passes i dont think we need another striker ( will keane and cofie look to have a decent future ). This team would allow us to challenge for the premier league and it would be fergy's last season but we might not be favourites for the champions league.
OUTS:
-park ( 3 ms )
-berba ( 8 mils )
-bebe ( 2 ms )
-macheda ( 3ms )
-king ( 1 m )
-ando ( loan : 1 mil )
-other youngsters like norwood wooton ... ( 2ms )
20 mills in .

IN :
-strootman ( 15 ms )
-cissoko ( loan : 2ms )
-garcia/mvila ( 15-20 ms )
-van persie ( fingers crossed : 15 ms )
45-50 mils out

net spend of 25-30 mils and it would improve our starting eleven greatly.

Mick

PS: like all of you guys i would prefer a 100 m net spend with a massive squad overhaul ( including carrick, nani, ferdi, giggs and young ) that would allow us to bring martinez modric hazard alba and co but the only way of doing that is either saf retires now or he sticks around for another 3-4 years and i dont think either scenarios is likely. Fingers crossed for the best guys.

When was the last time a central midfield player scored double figures for United?

What do we expect next season?
Scholes 3
Giggs 3
Anderson 10 for his new Club Benfica :-(
Cleverley 1 (misses half the season again)
Fletcher 1 (gets sick about Oct again)
Pogba 1 goal in his 4 only appearances for Juventus.

Gylfi (Swansea) from Iceland 12 for Newcastle or Everton.

Kagawa 16 for Man United :-) maybe?

I have been quite interested to hear about our link to Mibwia and his comments about his willingness to come to the club. Now i know its only speculation, but i can't help but think that he is the sort of defender that SAF is going to go for. I say this, because he can literally play anywhere along the back line pretty well, is two footed and good on the ball. He is also 23. For me, i think that we have missed a John O'Shea player this season, he was so underrated but so useful. Mibwia would be an upgrade on O'Shea and would offer us versatility. He is primarily a left back as well, so he would be Evra's competition. I also think that a deal for Clyne is nearly done. Just those two additions in defence and we would have two very handy players for a very small fee.

Where has all this £100 million nonsense come from?
Deals are done across months/years with instalments based on Cashflow with varying down-payments and varying add-ons/reductions.The thought of someone transferring £35 million for this player £20 million for that player is nonsense. Even on paper and in theory we won't be having that budget anyway. Only a few people at the top know an they will bring in who they think they need and then negotiate. I didn't see Vidic, Evra, Nani, Veron & Anderson coming to name a few. This window might be similar. I'd love Martinez for one but who's to say there isn't someone else out there as good for half the price that no-one apart from scouts know about because they play for some mid-table European team.
Have a quiet word with yourselves some of you.

People complaining about city buying the league is kind of getting old, in anycase, city havnt even won the league yet. In this world, there are winners and there are losers. History has shown that the winners are usually the ones willing to do whatever it takes. If something is not illegal, what is there to stop me from doing it in order to suceed? Self-rigtheousness?
Is it illegal for a business owner to finance the acquisition of assets by his company in order to improve its performance? What wrong with city's owner funding the aquisition of players? It is his club afterall.
People talk about fairness but what chance do clubs like wigan or stoke have of ever winning the league or champions league without external financial backing?
Look at la liga, a 2 horse race between barca and real. The gap between real and barca and the rest of the teams financially is insane. Should these teams just roll over and accept they will never win the league? Or should they adopt the city/chelsea/psg like model atleast until they build-up their revenues? Id choose the second option.
I dont like city or chelsea but i have nothing against their business model, afterall, if united had an owner who was willing to bankroll its transfers of world-class players id be pretty happy, So am not gonna be a hypocritical b!tch.

If we were playing Barca in the final of the Champions League this season how would get on?
These are our fit players:
GK- DeGea or Lindegaard?
RB- Fabio, Rafael or Jones or Smalling?
LB- Evra or Fabio
CB- Rio with Evans, Jones or Smalling?

What would he do with midfield 5?

Valencia - Park - Carrick - Scholes - Giggs or
Nani -cleverley - Carrick - Giggs - Park or
Valencia - Jones - Carrick - Cleverley- Young
I've not added Ando or Pogba cause they are out inj'd.
We know Rooney would be upfront.

Wouldn't it be nice to actually have a set of MIDFIELDERS that you just know who & where they'd play..........

Beckham - Keane - Scholes - Giggs or drop a striker then add Butt.

Those were happy days and not one team in Europe had a better midfield to us. I certainly wouldn't of swapped ours.

So with what we got how would we beat Barca or should we
not worry cause we can't get out the group stage........
Pathetic isn't it.

I feel this is important as they still are the best in Europe. {Ed004's Note - I have said for the past while we need two midfielders. Martinez to be the defensive minded one and Eriksen to dictate the play and get forward like Scholes does. It would be like having the same type of partnership of Scholes and Keano in midfield... maybe not as good yet though. Also to make a 3 man midfield you could play Scholes, Pogba, Cleverley, Carrick or even Rooney}

would love to know where people are getting this idea from about us going on some Abramovich-esque spending spree of a hundred million on the likes of martinez, van persie, hazard etc. We are not going to get any of those guys. Not with these owners. And for the people bleating on about them that situation is not going to change any time soon. At most we are likely to get fifty million plus sales in the summer and thats being optimistic. Bear in mind revenue will be down due to shocking runs in the cups and europe. Sales also wont bring in much either. Look at who we're selling. With the fifty million i'd bring in clyne, kagawa and make approaches for baines and sahin. Anything left over look for a striker. I would also contact drogba and raul to see if any interest.

I see on here there 100m talk!jus a prob were owned by the glazers&unless its raised by more loans or the 30% sale or floation can't see where its coming from,I believe that Utd are left average of around 50m a year after the debt interest payoffs, wish we did have it as do think it would take 100m to get Utd back up to chances of champions league challenge, fergie as done an amazing job to keep us up there with the squad he's got in truth, our squads have gradually got less quality under the glazers,no matter what cover is given we no that's down to cash taken out instead of put in,we've dragged every last breath we can out of Scholes/giggs as there class is still better than most, I did believe after the champ league in moscow we pos become dominent but the 1st Barca final showed we needed 2 world class midfielders&were still waiting,Ronaldo/tevez went&it aint really reached that level again, the utd transfer policy now seems more of we sign young player with the pos of a big sell on,were the line of over 27 is dead money! I wonder where the glazers would stand if utd went 3-4 years without success!it maybe then we finally see them go!

Do u think United will stick to the usual tranfer criteria?

2 prospects to come in between 16/21yrs that apparently all the top European teams were after.
Like Manucho, Bebe, Diouf, Vermijl, Pogba, Petrucci?

THE BIG MONEY SIGNINGS:
- Are they within the right age group 21/27yrs.
- Have they got the right mentality.
- Can we recoup some money back on them.
- Will they improve our first XI.
- Within our wage structure.
- Will they settle if transferred from abroad.
- Will they have International commitments through the playing season e.g African Nations.
- Are they married. (Fergie prefers this)
- Will we join an auction for him.
- Is he worth the fee
- Does he dream of Real Madrid or Barca?
- Has he got injury problem (Owen Hargreaves)
- Is he part owned by a greedy Agent.

No wonder it takes ages to complete a transfer.

Firstly everyone talks about how overrun our Midfield gets, then they say we need Modric and suggest Modric and carrick/cleverley in CM together. THAT WOULD BE NO DIFFERENT TO WHAT WE HAVE NOW.

We need a box2box midfielder with a physical presence and adequate ball playing ability. We need a yaya, an Essien, a Nocerino, a De Rossi, a Vidal, etc.

so, let's look in our current squad of players to see which players fit this bill.

1) Fletcher - underrated player, but due to his illness if he does return, and that's a big if then his energy won't be there as much and neither will his physicality.

2) Pogba - quite possibly the best Box2Box midfielder of his age currently in Europe. This guy is an exact copy of Yaya Toure.

The worst case scenario for the summer is that Fletcher retires and Pogba leaves. which means IMO we'll need 2 box2box players..one for the first team and one to play back up.

So, who is realistically available and within our price range. not a dream list of who we would love but feasible target.

1) Joao moutinho - Me and shappy have been singing this lads praises over the past few weeks. probably around the £12 Million mark. great feet, good in the air and best of all he can run all over the place. a real old fashioned player. the negative issue is that he isn't a 'big' lad so he may just get brushed aside.

2) Julian Draxler - admittedly he offers more going forward that defending but he's still a good all round midfielder. he's got great ball playing ability and he's already achieved a fair amount in terms of apps for a 19 year old.

3) M'Vila - possibly more defensive that we'd expect but he's got the ability to go forward. although with somebody like Cleverley or another attacking style midfielder he won't need to attack as much. He looks Arsenal bound but surely he should be checked out.

4) Belhanda - now he's way more attacking that I would like but he can run for hours on end without show. terrific young lad and massively under-rated.

5) Jack Rodwell - ignore the injuries and what you've got is a talented young midfielder who is slightly more defensive than attacking but that's what we need at the moment. his passing isn't to bad and he shows signs of being one of the best defensive players to come out of England in years. the downside is the injuries and if he can manage to shake them off for a season or 2 then I certainly think he's what we would need.

6) Francis Coquelin - this guy will be near on impossible to sign. I admit that but he's very, very good. a holding midfielder by trade he can play anywhere along the back. he's slowly getting into the first team but he's a terrific young player to say the least.

7) Casemiro - Probably the guy I want most on this list, 19 years old and the perfect box2box midfielder. scores goals, defends goals, runs for hours. terrific player. the issue with him is that he's coming from Brazil and although he's built like Sandro he might not be able to deal with the physicality in the same way.

8) Markus Henriksen - Actually, scratch that. this is the lad I want more than any other in the centre of midfield if we can't tie down Pogba. THE best box2box player in the world under the age of
. Honestly, I've never seen a guy like this. absolutely brilliant.

9) Thomas Delaney - He's up and coming. okay, so he hasn't set the world alight but neither has Fletcher. he's consistently good on the ball and has a real presence. at 21 he's more than worth a £5 Million risk.

There are 9 players there with 8 being realistic signings. the majority of them are young and pretty much a spitting image of what Pogba offers.

Who would I go for? well I would suggest we need two just incase of injuries so I would take Moutinho & Henriksen.

Seriously though, take a look at Henriksen, absolutely brilliant player.

The Moon. {Ed007's Note - I'd have McCarthy over Rodwell any day Moon. And that is even from an unbiased point of view.}

Fergie says our academy and youth in reserves are very important to the club.

So what is the next stage for these guys another loan or try and push for a place on the bench?

DEF: Wootton, Brown, McGinty, DeLaet?
MID: Tunnicliffe, Norwood, Brady
CF: Macheda?, Bebe?, King, Cofie

Plus Fergie has said these players WILL be loaned out
Thorpe, M.Keane, W.Keane, Petrucci, James & Fabio

So it seems we'll be left with these players that were given a squad number last year to fight for Lge Cup appearance.

Johnstone, Amos?, Vemijl, Pogba?, Cole, Lingard plus those loaned out last season if they stop to fight for a place.

Fornasier, Veseli, Giverin?, Blackett, van Velzen could be given a squad number in may.

I'd also expect to see these talents take the reserves by storm next season with Lucas Evangelista, Dæhli, Januzai, Barmby and half Belgian half Brazilian super star Pereira (he's my pick of the bunch)

We don't need Man Cities money.
Carry on with the good youth development Warren Joyce.

Does anyone think this is possible or might even be in the mind of our team...
Man Utd scoring 6/7 goals each against Swansea & Sunderland thereby giving a chance to retain the title in goal difference...
I know this looks impossible considering how we played our last game, but we scored 4 against a solid team (everton) recently... Either way conceding 0 goal is the key factor here :)

And most importantly Man City shouldn't score more than 1 or 2 which also looks highly unlikely

AJ {Ed002's Note - I think there is a better chance of Newcastle taking points from them.}

Rumour has it we'll keep the 3 following player?

Owen: he'll sign a pay as you play deal.
REASON when he plays he's scores 1 in 2 games plus Macheda can be given one more chance on loan.
King, W.Keane & Cofie on loan also.

Park: Glazer's are shifting bonds all around the Asian Market in sept apparently. Plus we are rumoured to be doing a mini tour in Asia for pre-season.
MY THOUGHTS so he's and a bad season, Fergie has experimented with him in CM, I'm sure shoved on the left again he'll have 1 more last hurrah season for us. (Evans had a stinker last season and he's certainly pulled his socks up)

Anderson: 18m player? If we sell him who would pay over 6m seriously. Plus how obvious would it be that he'd end up doing a Forlan and we'd say bugger! Sold him too soon.

It most defiantly is the last chance saloon for these 3.

It's going to be a sad day for football 'IF' City win the league with what with their spending, ethos and the whole Tevez saga. Also do you think if they do win the title, it'll be even more appealing to players like Hazard to choose them over us. That coupled with the fact they will throw hundreds of thousands per week in a 'kids' face?

Does anyone else think that the game was ours for the taking against City? As the game progressed I thought City were wide open a lot of times, and all we needed was some fast counter-attacking, which was always one of our great strengths. I think SAF got things wrong in so many ways, and one was not playing Tony, he would have done so much damage down the right. What possessed him to play Park, who hadn't played in ages? Again Young would have given us that bit of speed down the left to help with the counter-attacks. I'm really trying to see things SAF's way and to understand why he picked who he picked, but it doesn't make sense! FFS we could have the league virtually wrapped up now!!
Fingers are crossed though. Newcastle will make it very hard for them.

The reserves played Blackpool last night in the Lancashire cup and there was a Fletcher named on the subs bench. No news on the official site or anywhere else for that matter. Hope it is Darren as he deserves some good luck. If anyone has any news on this then get posting. And Lindergard plagued last night too.

Was wondering if one of the eds could answer this for me.

My friend enhances everything he says so I dont know how much to read into this but he wroks for SEG the football agency and he does seem to know a lot of people in football when I have been the games with him directors at everton coaches at celtic and he can get tiickets for any game us ask him for so I know he does have a job with these and is representing certain footballers.

Robin Van pirse is a client of SEGS and having spoken to him he has relayed to me that all options are being left open regarding his contract and that his reps have held mettings with man city which have not gone well at all and at the min that is a no go but also added that they have held talks with united and that these have gone really well and that at the minute there are only two possibilites for his futre us or arsenal.

How likely is it that these talks have taken place and that this would be the case regarding his future????

Thanks

Darren the Red {Ed002's Note - Most unlikely that Manchester United have held talks over Van Persie at this time.}

I saw this post and thought some of you would be interested I know edoo7 had told you about the kids. You might have seen them on soccer AM as well. the kids are now in glasgow and due at a celtic game this week.

I am a Rangers fan from Blantyre, the same place Reamonn lived.I never knew him but since his death it has been a big part of our local community. Can I just say the Thai Tims are a credit to the memory of a young guy who was brutally murdered.Thankfully his death wa not football related and he helped these kids learn English by signing Celtic songs while doing his own charity work.I do think it is shocking that not one person has went on to the Celtic site and congratulated or thanked Ed007 for the work he has put into this whole thing.Without everything he has done and witjhout his help these kids might never have the got any publicity or the chance to visit Scotland. He has helped the charity since it started and campaigned on all these sites here and elsewhere for month after month and even had Liverpool and Man U fans donating money.Without Ed007 those guys would have never heard of these kids. Ed07 must live local to me after reading his stuff and although you guys might hate him for his football team at least give the guy some credit for doing this kind of thing for poor children.Poor show from timalloy and the Celtic fans who know what the ed has done btw Honest Blantyre Rangers Fan p.s. please post this ed and I hope it doesn't embarass Ed007 or blow his cover as an ed on here.I just think it shouldn't go unoticed

With rumors that Drogba could turn to Barcelona for a two year deal, why don't we make a move for him first? We need a 4th striker behind Rooney, Chicharito and Welbeck, and Drogba is a very different player to those three. Able to be a strong, target man who can hold the ball up. Not going to be an every match player, but he would provide a fantastic option (certainly better than what Berbatov or Owen give us). He's not the solution to our bigger problems in midfield, but he could be an affordable 4th striker and a great option for added height and strength up front. Makes no sense for us to play with two out-and-out wingers to provide crosses when our front line is so short and our central midfielders rarely push into the box as threats on crosses. Just a thought....KG

Hi ed/anybody with info on this...

Does anyone know whether we should expect Darren Fletcher to play again? Rumours today on twitter said that he's going to retire. Just wondering if you can cast any light on the issue for us.

It would be a great shame to lose Pogba and Fletcher, added to that we might get rid of Anderson and Scholes might not carry on (although I think he will). We could find ourselves very short with just Cleverly and Carrick with a few youngsters. Of course I'm not saying that will happen, but we could lose a couple in midfield for sure...

Get rid of giggs and sell nani
that would certainly reduce the wage bill and bring in some much revenue
and maybe we could afford a cut price 2nd division midfielder

How dare you all ruin are once great atmosphere bar a few fans that do sing the rest should just burn there season ticket cause they don't show the team any support what so ever! I'm sick of hearing about how fergie is a legend, giggs and Scholes are legend etc blah blah blah legends don't carry on and ruin our club they realise when enough is enough, try can't give anymore worth giving and move on, and mike Phelan should be linched what does he do he's just a YES man sits they and does feck all! I'm embarrassed to be a united fan! You all should be ashamed to even call yourselfs fans when you clearly can't see what right in front of you! A pile of s*it

FERGIE is a liar he says we have money then show it and make united fearfull again, teams arnt afraid to cum old Trafford , Blackburn, Everton, city, athetico, basil, benfica it's embarrassing! And any united fan who thinks otherwise doesn't care about our club and what we stand for!

For me, these would be my ideal signings during the summer. And before people start complaining, just is more what I hope will happen rather than what I think will happen.

Hazard - 32 million
Hummels - 12 million
Walker - 8 million
Van Wolfswinkel - 10 million

I would be happy if we could get those four players as they could really strenghten our starting 11.
Hazard, for me, is a must buy. He is extremely talented player and would be the perfect replacement for Ronaldo, which we have been missing since he left.
Hummels is a great young defender and could go well with Vidic at centre back. I know ye are probably wondering why I think we should go for a CB rather than a defensive mid. The reason for this is that we can push Jones up, as he has played there before and has great energy. He also isn't bad at getting forward.
Walker would be a great addition with his pace, and he is a great defender aswell. He would link up well with Valencia, who would cover well for him if he decides to go forward.
I have watched van Wolfswinkel a few times this season and I think he is a great striker. He is pretty young and doesn't have a crazy price tag like Llorente, but in my opinion, he is just as good.
Altogether, they would cost (the prices I have put down are just estimates) roughly 62 million. We would also get some money from sales, such as Berbatov who could fetch 10+ million.

Feel free to criticise this post or express your own views. Like I said, this is what I would like to see happen, not what will happen.

Find it hard to believe the Glazers will allow SAF to spend big this transfer window! They're hardly going to let him spend over £50 million then draft in a new manager and say to him here's another £50 million to buy whoever you want are they?I see SAF toeing the line again, usual no value in the market taglines and we steadily go down the league fighting with the scousers for 6th place!Do any of the ED's know how long SAF will remain incharge and if we really can complete for the worlds elite players anymore with the leeches taking all our money away from the club? They've taken nearly half a billion surely by now,and I'm sure Gill will still try and make us believe it was for the better for the club!
