Ed,

I know you like Allison but i don't think he is currently better then De Gea and i don't think he will ever be based so far on the games i have watched against Liverpool.

It could be tight in a few years but i think De Gea edges him based on his shot stopping.

Just to point out i know he isn't playing today.

He not half as bad as karius, Now he is A bad keeper. looked like an Sunday league keeper.

De Gea at the moment is the best keeper in the world. He plays to a consistently high standard rarely makes mistakes regularly makes saves which border on miraculous.

I think Keylor Navas is the dopiest keeper playing for a top team. He is the worst of the lot.

The champions league final is going to depend on which keeper performs better.

Nice gesture of Mourinho to give player of the year award to McTominay, rest of the academy players will have a lot of hope going into next season, not quite the youth-killer everyone said he would be.

It’s not that Jose doesn’t play young players, it’s that he doesn’t trust them to get results when it matters.

Look at the team we’ve been using for the last few weeks when we need to win games. Youngest regular starter is Lukaku at 24. A lot of players in late 20s and early 30s.

02 May 2018 17:59:23
Not sure what the point is? We’ve won the matches we have needed to bar Sevilla at home!

Pep nevertheless plays youngsters at City and they are thrashing everyone. LVG okayed then all and we were awful!

Agree2 Disagree1

02 May 2018 19:42:31
It was more of them saying he won't give them a chance rather than him not trusting them.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 May 2018 22:26:27
He gave McTominay a chance when we had Fellaini, Carrick and Herrera out injured. Since two of those three have returned from injury McTominay has had his minutes cut. Coincidence?

Agree8 Disagree2

03 May 2018 02:24:27
Or maybe shappy Herrera is just playing very well at the moment? Mctominay had some great games for us and also picked up an injury when he was with Scotland. He’s played more football than anyone expected and has been trusted in some big games, ahead of pogba too.

Agree6 Disagree5

03 May 2018 14:00:47
Caolan, he got his chance due to Mourinho being unhappy with Pogba and wanting to drop him to prove a point. At that time most of our other midfielders were injured so Mourinho had a choice of sticking with Pogba or playing a kid. He chose to play the kid.

Fair play to McTominay as he worked really hard to grab that chance with both hands and got an international call up on the back of some very good performances.

But in spite of those good performances, Pogba was given his place back. And Fellaini and Herrera recovered from their injuries and McTominay's chances disappeared.

Mourinho has stated on the record that if Fellaini leaves as well as Carrick retiring the club will have to sign two midfielders to replace them. That would give us Mastic, Pogba, Herrera and the two new players. That's five players ahead of McTominay in the pecking order, does that sound like a manager who is going to give the kid a chance. And not just any kid the one who stepped up and helped him out when he needed him. Even after that Mourinho isn't prepared to make space for the lad.

Don't he surprised to see McTominay leave on loan next season.

Agree5 Disagree0

03 May 2018 14:20:16
So a manager who hates youth players etc dropped our most expensive signing for mctominay but that was only to prove a point? Perhaps Mourinho rates him, but matic has a good season, pogba has been better in recent weeks which is why he’s in the team. Herrera has been excellent, and Scott was injured there recently.
I’m not saying he will be first choice, but the first stick that was used to beat Jose, has actually been quite untrue.

Agree0 Disagree4

03 May 2018 18:15:44
Caolan, Pogba got his place back before McTominay got injured. McTominay was dropped in place of Pogba having played well, when there was no reason to drop him.

Josh McEachran was given games by Jose at Chelsea during an injury crisis. Yet Jose never made space for him.

This is the same Jose whonif everyone was fit would have Lukaku as his only first choice player under 25.

The guy who prefers a 34 year old winger over a 22 year old left back.

The guy who plays a 28 year old Smalling over a 23 year old Lindelof.

The guy who won't make space in the first team for Martial and Rashford two of the best young forwards in world football.

The guy who loaned out TFM and Tuanzebe and would rather keep Darmian as cover than give the young lads a chance.

Let's see how many of these young players get a chance next season shall we.

So guys, thanks to Ed002s rowboats input, we know who our targets are. Who do you think we will realistically get?

I'm going for:

RB - TFM to return to cover for Valencia
LB - Rose a shoe in
CB - genuinely don't think we will invest unless a deal for Alderweireld or Umtiti become feasible but cannot see it

CM - Wig to stay
CM - Pereira brought back as squad player
CM - no idea who we can realistically sign here or who is any good from Ed's list. No idea what Fred is like. I'd have a look at Ndidi as think he could be a quality player

FWD - wildcard of Bale if Martial wants to leave. If not, no change.

Rb - We need better, I'd go for Coleman for a year or two, just to help TFM along. Valencia as cover but he is a major liability for me as he brings nothing to the table but heart.
LB - Would like Rose as well, Alaba is my preference
CB - Not bothered, we have enough cover as Jose plays 2 holding CMs' (Mickey Mouse could look good back there 95% of games) .

CM - Wig to stay is bad for me, he scored the other day but he isn't utd quality and means we won't get in better quality. With Matic and Pogba plodding around it means more of the same slow play.
CM - Definitely not Ndidi for me, very poor on the ball we already have too many sloppy passers. I'd go for Kante as Chelsea won't be in CL, Pjanic, Thiago, Veratti all viable for big money imo. Haven's seen enough of Savic to make a decision but everyone raves about him, so probably him. (hopefully 2 and we sell Pogba) .

I'd like Bale but we have about 57 LW's. I think we really need a RW - no idea who though, hopefully not Willian - Pulisic maybe for the marketing/ potential.

02 May 2018 12:17:03
POV a has the potential to be world class but is just too inconsistent. If Jose’s not convinced that this will improve, then he should sell him and bring in Milosovic Savic who seems a similar player but hopefully more consistent and not so dependent on finding the right system for him.

Having signed Sanchez I don’t see a replacement for Martial if he leaves unless Bale is at a reduced cost.
Personally;

Alderweireld
Alex Sandro
Milinkovic-Savic

DDG, Toni, Bailly, Alderweireld, Sandro
Milinkovic-Savic, Matic, Pogba
Lingard, Lukaku, Sanchez

Joel Pereira
Young
TFM
Lindelof
Rojo
Fellaini
Herrera
Andreas Pereira
Mata
Rashford

Out;
Romero
Smalling
Jones
Blind
Carrick
Martial.

We are never happy it seems. let's sign some more slow lethargic looking players to chase other teams up and down the pitch. We forged and identity over 2 decades that has since faded away from brilliance like Wazza fall from grace. To get utd back to the top will be like getting wazza banging them in ( not grannys ) . We clear the deadwood ( fat ) get some pace back and avoid those who spend longer in the mirror than my wife. How many years before we say enough?

Great post on the F1 Ed.
Sad Vettel didn’t win it but story of the day has to be the Red Bull team taking each other out of the race. Classic tale of internal competition creating an external joke and brand failure. What a couple of dumbass 🤣🤣.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you could see it coming from the start as Verstappen hit him a few times before the actual crash. It was like watching an old horror movie, which would build up anticipation over time until the actual moment happened. Each time Ricciardo decided to try and overtake you were just waiting, waiting, waiting for the crash, and they would tangle and he would drop back for a few laps, then it would begin again.}

02 May 2018 07:52:35
I know. I was like “sooner or later they’ll screw up and somebody will be in deep s***”. ”. Wow both got into deep 💩. What a joke!
But on the whole the race was great to watch with tight corners and some parts of the circuit was just exciting to watch in terms of overtaking. All in all good race but still sad Vettel didn’t win.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - hopefully the new rule changes they just ratified for next season will make more races this interesting. Personally I am not sad Vettel didn't win, the Ferrari has a clear advantage in terms of race pace this season, the season will be over quickly if he doesn't have a few more races like this. He needs to be behind chasing, otherwise they will just walk away with it.}

02 May 2018 08:01:11
Agree fully. Just hoping Vettel and Ferrari close out the competition early, something I hope ManUtd does so next season 🤣🤣.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is boring when someone wins it early. Much better when it goes to the final race, though I would not advise going along to watch it when it does! Me dad took me along to Abu Dhabi for my birthday one year, it coincided with a year Hamilton won it there. However we did not have a bloody clue what was happening as we had not got the ear things. Without commentary we may as well have sat and watched cars go past on the road outside...}

It might be worth watching again as last season was a bore fest.

FZZ it will be Ferrari this year and as Ed said Ferrari has faster cars.

I don't think Ferrari and Vettel will walk away with championship. Mercedes have a stronger and inconsistent car but with a limited operating window for tyre temp they will have hit and misses on circuits. Ferrari are ahead in qualifying but they ain't able to convert them on wins so it's going to be tipsy turvy season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no mate, Ferrari is quicker now for sure, more powerful engine in race conditions and better pace in the car. The only advantage the Mercs have now is a stronger engine that they can turn right up for one lap to give them a better qualifying pace. Even then they are still not always able to match the Ferrari, which should tell you something. The last race all the Merc teams had engine upgrades, yet the Ferrari was quicker.}
