Baines is far better than evra youse don't have a clue what your chatting

Believable1 Unbelievable4

I wouldn't argue with that, however I still think Baines isn't great.

Sydney!

Agree4 Disagree2

I agree I think he'd sure us up defensively whilst being more effective in the attacking 3rd. I'm warming to the idea of Baines due to the lack of other quality alternatives...but only at the right price

Gav

Agree4 Disagree0

Statistically last season was better defensively and attacking wise he scores more and sets up more than evra

Somthing we've missed is a set pice taker and he's a top quality set piece taker

We get him and our corners will go past the first man on the post

MUFC1990

Agree3 Disagree0

Totally agree bout corners never getting past front post.....still need quality(world class) in our midfield cant rely on cleverly(too fragile, breaks down every time he gets tackled), giggs n scholesy were great but come on! there 70 years old(combined)nani and young spend too much time on the floor...if we wanna stay in touch with chelsea, real, barca,blackburn...sorry city, then we have to spend!!

Agree0 Disagree0

"cleverly(too fragile, breaks down every time he gets tackled)"

Nonsense, he broke down ONCE due to ligament damage.

I havent posted for a few weeks as my source has been on holiday but i spoke with him today and he still believes that we will sign Modric. Levy has reneged on things that had been discussed earlier in the summer but there is a belief that Madrid do not have the funds to buy Modric. Modric has made it clear to Utd that he is happy to join but Spurs have complicated things as they want more money than previously discussed. Leighton Baines will definitely sign within the next two weeks. Rodriguez will not join unless Nani leaves and no party wants that to happen. Most interestingly of all is that SAF is willing to sell Ashley Young if a reasonable bid comes in. INTHEKNOWATOT

Believable5 Unbelievable4

INTHEKNOWATOT..

if young was sold then, would we then look at rodriguez?

also is there no news on a dm?? modric & carrick will not be strong enough in the middle.....Oxred

Agree1 Disagree1

Stuck with Young for at least a season or two again. Can't see anyone wanting him for anything close to what was paid for him nor anyone willing to pay him 100k/wk.

Very expensive role player.

KB

Agree0 Disagree1

Ox, the manager has made it very clear that we will not be signing a defensive midfielder.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont believe fergy would sell young 12 month after buying him.
i dont think fergy just buys players on a whim and then after 12 month in which the player has done ok just sell him and buy someone else
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

KB, Young is a decent player, not world-class, but can cause opposition a lot of problems and his defensive and tracking back is very good too. He would sell for £20m no problems. 26 year old Englishman who can win matches on his own on his day.

I find it hard to believe that you think he is on £100k a week too, just because the Mirror reports that United will double his Villa salary doesn't make it true. How would a newspaper know what a club is going to offer a player unless Ashley or Gill have told them personally?

I agree with Jred, United will not sell Young. The manager will be pleased with his first season at the club.

Sydney!

Agree3 Disagree0

Syd.... that would be mistake on his part then...

carrick does a good job protecting the back 4 but as we saw against city he is too light weight....toure tore him to pieces. unless he plans on playing jones/tunncliffe there I would want someone with more presence to their game then carrick... i may be wrong and hope i am as it would mean carrick doing a smashing job but i do not think i am

oxred

Agree2 Disagree1

Sydney,

excuse my ignorance, but when did SAF rule out buying a defensive midfielder ?

Pip

Agree1 Disagree1

Fergie's said on a number of occasions that the game has moved on from that sort of player. That doesn't necessarily say he won't sign one, but I suspect he'll be looking for players who can get box to box and show some creativity instead (more in keeping with the midfielders we've had historically).

DarkLard08

Agree0 Disagree0

Darks, exactly right, the manager will look for box to box midfielders who can both attack and defend. No M'Vila, no De Jong, no Mascherano, but players like Strootman, Martinez would certainly tick the boxes.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

@DarkLard08

Box to box midfielder who can also supply some creativity. Cabaye at Newcastle fits that bill perfectly. Surely we can tempt him for £20-25m ??

Halesini

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't spend £20m+ on Cabaye.

Eds can you please post this as I can't reply to my previous post.

When I said that Ryan Giggs and Bobby Charlton are at Wimbledon, I meant for the tennis! The BBC showed them there when they announced the special guests. Apparently they were invited due to their service for one club in their career.

By no means did I mean AFC wimbledon!

SK {Ed007's Note - I think people knew what you meant.}

Was at Irish open and heard someone who claims to be involved with united that 2 signings are definitely coming in, should be announced within the next 2 weeks and there could be a third.
I think modric and Baines are the 2 definate signings. I think the third signing all depends on nani if he leaves and we get around 30 million I see us going out and signing James Rodriguez, I don't know much about him but of what I've heard he could be the flair player we have been missing since ronaldo left.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Hi no name
with all due respect to you do you honestly believe that if this person was anything to do with the club he would be speaking about transfers. The only people who really know whats going on are Fergie, his 2 assistants,Gill and the Glazers.

Hi, I know we are in talks for Baines, who would be a great signing. This question goes out to everyone, are we in advanced talks with anyone else or are we likely to sign anyone other than kagawa,Powell,Baines and possibly modric?

My most wanted players at United, James Rodriguez, Mat Hummels, Juan Manuel Iturbe, Jesus Navas, Douglas Costa, and put Eden's younger brother Thorgan Hazard in there as well.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Definitely rodrigues and douglas costs two exciting young talents

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree with Juan Manuel Iturbe, he's going to be a superstar.

Hoppy

Agree0 Disagree1

Don't we have our mits in on the Iturbe deal Ed/Anyone?
Something along the lines of we have first refusal providing we pay asking price or match a bid from another club.

supasub

Navas is too lightweight for Prem.

DodgyBanter

I believe Mendes was involved in the deal that to take him to Portugal, so I won't be surprised if we're in the mix should the lad fulfill his promise.

anyone else think Ross Barkley is a player with great potential and under fergie could turn into a world class player? eds do you know if we are interested?

JS

Believable2 Unbelievable7

If he was that good he would have been in the Everton team last season just like Rooney was when he was at Everton

fearny

Agree2 Disagree0

Thats not necessarily true. David Moyes has a tendency to hold back his youngsters to an extent. Just take a look at Rodwell. Even when fit he wasnt given much game time. Rooney was a special case but Barkley certainly has the potential to be a future England star.

TK-Red

Agree1 Disagree0

So using fearny's logic, Scholes wasn't much good as he wasn't in our first team at Barkley's age, not forgetiing the likes of Beckham, Neville etc, Ronaldo was a bit part player at that age.
Great thinking fearny, anyone not a first team regular by aged 18 can't be that good !!

Agree1 Disagree0

He struggled with injuries, but there is no doubt that fergie has kept an eye on him. A bit like Rodwell. Our interest has cooled until he can prove his fitness.

Jamesmack8

Agree1 Disagree0

Fearney do your homework
No name

Agree1 Disagree0

There's a bit of a difference in trying to get in to the Everton team and getting in to the Man Utd team if we are being honest. Nice for not leaving a name again.

fearny

Agree0 Disagree0

Why leave a name fearny? They'd have to stand by their arguments if they did that. You're right there is a difference between the 2 clubs. That said, the point I was trying to make was that I dont think the amount of football he has played should reflect his ability. IMO IF WE Are talking about sheer ability then Moyes should have played the kid much more often but he seems to hold youngsters back to a point.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Or is it that Moyes is ruining Barkely like he did Rodwell

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree1

Your right and your wrong in a way about Moyes. I don't think he holds youngsters back, but he's very protective of them and plays them and takes them out of the team at the right times. If Liverpool had done the same with Owen then maybe he wouldn't be so injury prone today as they put him in the team at 17 and left him their to much football to young. Toffeecrisp

Agree1 Disagree0

Moyes held Rooney back to a certain extent.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ross Barkley is very talanted midfielder!.car,nt see him leaving everton just yet! but would command a large transfer fee.when he doe,s

Agree0 Disagree0

I have heard a lot of United fans describe Everton as an average team, but if that's the case why do you want half their team?

Agree1 Disagree0

Rooney made his debut when he was just 16 he played 37 games that year 33 in the league the following year he played 40, 34 of them in the league.
Rodwell also made his debut at 16 by the time he was 19 he had played 64 games would of been more if not for injuries.

I think if there good enough and ready moyes gives them a chance
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney didn't like it when he was left out of certain games, he was also sub too much for his liking. It could be Moyes blooding him slowly and carefully, but many believe Rooney was being held back. Rodwell was kept out of games that was crying out for him and Barkley could have played many games last season. Ed001 has talked about this before I recall.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok chaps it's no name tiger2 here the reason Barkley hasn't featured is due to 2 serious injuries in the last 2 seasons(do your homework) obviously Everton are not rushing him back what I've seen and I have physically seen him for both 1st team and reserves the kid will be a top player but is being handled correctly unlike Wilshire who may of benefited from the odd break and seems to be suffering
So there you go have fun
The real Tiger2

Agree0 Disagree0

Fearney TK red and pardoe how old we're Beckham scholes butt the Neville's before Fergie trusted them and unlike Everton we normally manage to keep hold of our stars
Pogba and Morrison were being groomed the same way but you lot are so inpatient that when the likes of Gibson are given the odd chance having hardly featured your on their case(he's no Roy jeans etc)
That's why your bar stool managers observe and learn
Tiger2 no name

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney played 2 seasons for evertons first team he played in 67 league games out of possible 76 i think thats pretty good for a 16/17 year old, he was a regular first team footballer at 17 i just dont see how that can be holding him back.

rodwell made his debut at 16 and had 64 games under his belt by the time he was 19 , this would of been more if there weren't concerns about his fitness even then.
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Tiger 2 no name will you please top embarrassing yourself. You clearly have no clue what you are talking about. Gibson reached 24 years of age before he was sold by United. Hardly impatience on behalf of United is it? Come back when you can construct a valid argument and sensible point of view.

Am I the only man in the country who thinks that SAF should retire now.

Not quite got it; see the loss at Wigan, and losing control of the Cold Trafford match v Everton""
dear unnamed sir
ngiak is very upset now
did ngiak actually miss sir alex doning his soccer boots and playing in the game?
sigh... why doesnt anyone tell ngiak these things!
gan

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Shocking comment. The day he retires will be a sad day for the club. He obviously still has the goods. Yes we need tweaking here and there but nothing dramtic. 3 decent players and we will be a force again.

Too many people here beleive that we are entitled to sucess. Not many managers can build new teams and still challenge every year on all fronts. Look at A.V.B at Chelski. It all went pete tong.

S.A.F is a genius. Players want to play for him. His man management is 2nd to none. No one on this site knows what benefits the club better than him. If he beleives that he is hindering the club, believe me, Fergie would be the first to recognise that. When he does retire, he will walk away with his head held high and with all the real fans eternal gratitude. He is the best club manager ever i the history of the game. Renaming the North Stand is not really enough to honour the great man.

My sister in law was seriously injured in a car crash and the family wrote to the club to ask for any little bits and bobs to auction for her treatment abroad. S.A.F personally wrote back and sent boxes of signed shirts, programes, training tops etc. He then sent flowers on her birthday and gave her dad a call. Honestly, with all that he has going on in the club and personally, this shows to me what a great man he is. I will never hear a bad word against the man.

Maybe just put fabio as first choice left back as hes looked better than rafa when he's played, plus rafa didn't go out on loan, keep Evra for back up And also jonny Evans can play there..

Just my opinion what do you guys think?

Also think we should go for cabaye and m'vila them 2 alon with kagawa and Powell we could be well away next season

De gea

Rafa
Smalling
Vidic
Fabio

M'vila
Cabaye

Nani
Kagawa
Young

Rooney

That's my preferred line up I put nani on the right as he always has his better games there and going with free flowing football he might excel more Dwright

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Too exposed out wide for my liking, full backs not quite strong enough defensively yet and wont get much cover from the wide men further up. rafael would play better with valencia in front as he will track back and help.

Does anyone know if we have made a formal offer for baines or willems? I'd prefer baines for his experience.
I think we will sign modric but it will drag on all summer.
I don't think united need another stiker, I think with Rooney, welbeck and hernandez(gets unfair critism) we have 3 top quality strikers.
I think macheda has until january to prove himself as William Keane should be back from injury.
Although I think fergie may make a surprise signing! Any ideas?
