Hi Guys

Well after the excitement of last night that Ramos wants to join us the only comment today is from his Mum saying he will stay in Spain.Does anyone still think we are being used to get him a better deal.Has our bid been accepted or rejected.

If they don't mind reposting, this is Ed001 great breakdown of what's happening to the best of their knowledge. Makes sense to me.

{Ed001's Note - we do have a Madrid site mate, but I will answer it here anyway, to the best of my ability. Ramos wants a big pay rise, as he is not one of the higher paid Madrid players. Perez sees Ramos as a bit of an issue, as he and Casillas are the heads of one of the splits in the camp. It was Ramos that stirred up the players against Jose Mourinho.

Ramos is represented by his brother, who decided that the negotiations were not going as well as they could be, Ramos was not being offered anything like the terms he was looking for, so he spoke to one of the Barcelona presidential candidates regarding using them as leverage. The candidate would be able to say he had agreed a deal to sign him and Madrid would panic and offer him a better contract to keep him. At least that was the theory.

In practice, Perez knew it was ridiculous and Ramos was forced to make a public statement about how he would never sign for Barca, which everyone already knew anyway. His brother started linking him with other possibilities in the press. Namely Manchester United. That was all it was until Man Utd sat down to discuss De Gea and asked if there was a possibility of including Ramos in the deal.

Madrid said he was going nowhere, but United have not quite given up and Madrid have not fully blocked the possibility, just put it off until after a valuation has been agreed on De Gea. So it is still up in the air right now, though I would be shocked if Ramos himself would want to move, no matter who it was interested in him.}

JMB

I have always been dubious but it remains to be seen if he was just playing us

Ramos will stay at Madrid, this is an all to frequent occurance. Top players using our club for a bigger contract.

Sky sports reporting there's no deal in place for Schneiderlin. Hope they've got something planned in terms of signings and don't let it drag until the new season kicks off, panic buying in August.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

30 Jun 2015 23:13:50
I would agree Ramos going no where and schneiderlin will drag out,why don't we just buy him with all these millions we have, get the players in before pre season

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 07:15:32
Talk of all these millions reminds me of Moyes's first transfer window.

Agree2 Disagree5

01 Jul 2015 09:20:47
I woke up this morning and my phone told me it is July 1st, the day the transfer window opens for 2 months. I remembered we have one of the most exciting young players already signed. Therefore it is incredibly hard to believe how it could be compared to Moyes first window, ridiculous in fact.

Agree2 Disagree3

01 Jul 2015 09:58:14
How is it ridiculous Red Man? I am not saying the window will go the same way it did under Moyes. What I am saying is when he took over it was all over the tabloids that he has a huge war chest of millions to spend and that was constantly being branded about.

How many times have you opened a paper this year seeing LVG has a £200million war chest? My point exactly. Hate, hate, hate.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 10:18:06
You're obsessed, Red Man :)

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 10:31:42
I have pondered whether United would want to parade any new major stars in the old Nike kit which they are contractually bound to use until 31st July. Adidas may be happier if they are publicised on 1st August in the new kit. Just something for people to mull over whilst jumping up and down on day 1.

I would rather get our business done early and some have stolen a march on us in that regard but the sponsor money is what will pay the wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 10:38:34
I hope you are wrong and he ends up coming. He would be an incredible signing IMO and will transform our defense given his passing and in general going forward ability. I think Smalling will really flourish with him as a central defending partnership.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 19:01:08
Just a quick question for the Eds, or any other posters who may know the answer. Schneiderlin joined Southampton in 2008, when he was 18, therefore he was registered at a club in English football for 3 year before he turned 21. Does that therefore mean he can be registered as a home grown player, because if so that would be very handy. I would absolutely love to see United line up with Schneiderlin, Vidal and Herrera in a 3 man midfield next season.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

30 Jun 2015 20:17:35
Shniederlin vidal herrera would be some midfield! Depay rooney di maria ahead with Coleman ramos smalling shaw. I suppose the question is who will be in the nets! And obviously huge question marks over vidal, Coleman and ramos!

Agree3 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 22:27:38
I would sooner sign Otamendi or Hummels than Ramos, but I wouldn't exactly complain if we got him. As for who will be in nets, I think it will be De Gea or Valdes. If De Gea leaves, I think Valdes will start as first choice and we might sign a young keeper like Leno, Lopes, Trapp, Sommer, or Cillessen, as competition for Valdes so they can develop over a couple of seasons, and then replace him. Still, hopefully De Gea will stay for another 8 years or so.

Agree3 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 13:32:04
Now I know this player has been done to death but I was hoping some of the eds might have any new developments on arturo vidal, especially after the manic Sunday rumours that he had signed for arsenal . is he a player we are really looking to bring in this summer or do you expect him to stay put?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - He'll be leaving Juventus but I don't know where he'll end up.}

30 Jun 2015 17:01:42
Thanks, is it true he's already decided, we're just waiting to find out where?

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 18:30:58
I'm pretty sure i've read somewhere that vidal will be joining barcelona in january.

Agree0 Disagree4

30 Jun 2015 18:59:32
I read the same nellym, its all a little confusing.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 19:01:48
Ed002 has said on the arsenal site that there have been 4 offers 3 of which are being looked over arsenal is one of the 4 but no decision has been made on acceptability of bids to player or juve we will know more on his destination in a couple of weeks I believe that was late last week

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 19:13:01
Just seen that he has had no contact with arsenal recently don't know how true. Nellym l also read today that one of the barca presidential candidates is hoping to lure Pogba should he win so will be interesting to see what unfolds.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 19:27:02
Wrong Vidal, nellym! They signed Aleix Vidal from Sevilla.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 19:28:53
Different Vidal Nelly.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 20:37:24
Skysports reads vidal agent stating no contact with arsenal whatsoever but didn't say anything else with regards to his future! Very strange! My guess is either ourselves or real Madrid, but Madrid wouldn't really have any room for him? Bayern may be another team after him?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 20:56:18
Ed has also said don't be surprised to see a player go in opposite direction
I think it could be Chelsea with Oscar going to juve or possibly Madrid with isco or us with rvp. Chelsea have been too quiet and juve have been talking about Oscar this week

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed018's Note - I don't think Chelsea has shown any interest in Vidal}

30 Jun 2015 21:06:21
Hopefully the eds will let us know if they get any updates, thst right eds?? 😀

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 21:24:27
Hi guys long time reader 1st time post . we r looking for attaching mid according to rumours wat if it to replace mata and mata for vidal .thx to all the eds and others

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 21:40:58
Good thanks ed. Well I think whoever gets him will be very pleased with themselves, sure there is a bit of baggage and madness but on the field he is a huge presence and he lifts the level of performance of all those around him. Dare I say like Robson or keane. That said I don't think we will get him but I dearly hope we do.
Any 3 from Carrick Herrera fellaini Vidal schneiderlin blind would be a very strong midfield either way we need Morgan and another midfielder such as Vidal /gundogan / modric veratti I think we need to target and sign a really top proven midfield player but more importantly that player must still retain the desire to win and drive this team forward and drag the forwards back when required he needs to inspire those around him and have the self confidence to carry the weight of expectation at this club.
A spine of Valdez Ramos Vidal and Rooney provides winning mentality huge experience massive presence, on funny note I would love to b a fly on the wall in that dressing room a couple of huge egos at least one total headbanger and none of them speak proper English but as I said above if they come and come with the right attitude old Trafford will be rocking again IMO

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 22:02:32
I can't see Madrid allowing Isco to leave. I imagine they would have room simply to sign Vidal as a replacement in the squad for Khedira, then rotate Modric, Kroos, Vidal, Illarramendi, Isco, and Rodriguez. I think Vidal going to Chelsea with Oscar going the other way seems very plausible in fairness. Juventus have expressed an interest in Oscar in the past, and Chelsea could then play Fabregas further forward, and play Vidal next to Matic instead of Fabregas. Still, we can only hope that there is a chance he might sign for us, the guy is absolutely dynamite.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 22:26:44
I'd be surprised if mata was swapped for vidal. could see lvg preferring vidal though so could happen! Wouldn't be fair on mata tho

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 01:18:32
I thought about that Pepgiggs but I suspect Vidal would only cost £30 million tops this year as opposed to the £40+ million he would have cost last year. Anything around the £30 million mark is more than affordable for us, almost a bargain for a player of his calibre. Also I would hate to see Mata leave, the chemistry on and off the pitch between Herrera and Mata is fantastic, and it would be sad to lose that kind of team spirit that those two bring.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 07:14:29
Are juventus still keen on van persie or has it cooled?

Van persie could be used in an exchange maybe.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 09:14:46
In an ideal world like gilly says, we can afford him so we don't need to give over a player but we had to I'd be happy to give them anybody from evans, Rafael, januzai (on loan) chica or rvp

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 10:32:05
even i hate to see mata leaves but i don't find any other player juv want from us . and mostly he will end up in real for isco can't rule out psg too

{Ed001's Note - We have posted a new player profile about, Kieran Richardson

Believable2 Unbelievable0

30 Jun 2015 13:12:38
Apparently we bid under £25million 10 days ago for Schneiderlin which didn't meet the asking price and was rejected and there has been no contact since.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

30 Jun 2015 14:00:23
They know they have a free run at him with arsenal pulling out so there not going to panic plus LVG probably wants to give schweinsteiger all the time he needs to decide if he wants to come first but with him saying no i'd expect schneiderlin to be signed very soon and if arsenal have pulled out of vidal deal we should be jumping right in to sign him no questions asked we need both vidal and schneiderlin

Agree7 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 14:43:33
nach,

I think 'need' is a bit strong, we have do have plenty of midfielders in the squad, but players like that would improve us, I am not sure Vidal is even a potential, that bridge burnt last year.

Agree0 Disagree8

30 Jun 2015 15:21:35
Probably letting saints swear on a bid, Koeman saying no serious bid, just a bit of mind games. I would prefer we just got in there and get the business done tho. Us united fans have a very rational fear that deals go belly up no matter how certain they appear to be.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 15:45:48
Nope l personally think LVG has given the mo hawk a year to prove his fitness. We shall see soon enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 15:57:07
I can't see LVG allowing possible transfer targets to be dragged out. If we haven't spoke with them for 10 days, I can only assume we are now pursuing other targets; or indeed, My Mohawk is back on the cards.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 16:00:58
To add to my comment: I recall last season when we were moving for a few targets, things went quiet then we signed them.

I think the situation with Schneiderlin will be sorted by the end of the week one way or another.

Agree1 Disagree1

30 Jun 2015 16:26:33
It would be a mistake if we let schneiderlin go to somewhere else if we're to hv any chance of competing for the league we need someone who has epl experience and doesn't have to get used to the pace of it so in that regard we should be paying what it takes to get the deal done why is it always us who are haggling with teams I never see Chelsea or Man City doing it and we're supposedly the richest team it boils my blood it really does I its the season book holders I feel sorry for they pay there money in the hope that we'll get the best team possible for them to watch week in week out but yet when the best players want to come to us we want pay the money it's a JOKE rant over

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 18:47:39
And it would be a bigger mistake letting vidal go to the gooners, they will be serious title contenders if they also get a class striker in the summer

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 11:36:32
Let's put this transfers aside and start a new topic . I would like to discuss about Ronaldo .
Suppose if Ronaldo at the age of 33-34 finally decides to come back to Manchester United which i think will and play for us for his final years, what will you prefer .
I personally don't want Ronaldo at Man Utd anywhere in future(Would take him now though) . The reason is that if he can't give his peak years to us then i don't think i will accept a declining ronaldo . I respect him as a player who has got abundance of talent and respect all his contribution to us in the years before . But for me he is a greedy arrogant person who used us to get himself a better contract . It did not happen once but twice . Whenever his contract was running out he would come out and speak about his sadness and how much he loved Man Utd . Man Utd name was included in every thing he say including he would love to come back home . Then suddenly he signs new contract and then Man Utd are just past and he loves Real Madrid . I know people will bring Rooney here but he never expressed himself infront of media but to the manager . The first time when we were not replacing quality but buying average players, people used to think United are in decline . Rooney asking for transfer was for IMO for same reason and i hated him for that . Second time he was benched in important games and so asked about transfer . But he was not involved in media and noway was using other clubs to get bump in his paycheck . I remember Chelsea were interested and Mourinho came out saying Rooney needs to come out and say he wants to join chelsea .But Rooney never did that .

So back to Ronaldo, he is far more superior footballer than Rooney but i hate him for using our club to get more money . At least Rooney stayed and contributed.

I don't believe anymore in what Ronaldo says . Sometimes when he scores hatrick, at the end of the match when asked by reporter expresses himself as " I am happy about my goal but our result and our team winning is bigger and i would rather want that " and when suddenly he stops scoring in 2 or 3 matches he gets frustated and does not even like his team mates scoring ahead of him .

So personally as much as i want a player of his quality in my team, i would avoid him when he wants us to be a club where he can retire with peace as RM are no such club to do so

Believable4 Unbelievable1

30 Jun 2015 12:21:25
I feel Ronaldo has burnt his bridges with us and used us. Also he's not going to be the phenomenon he is for long so he needed to return to us this season at the latest

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 12:44:32
He'll be in China in 3 year's is my guess. We should steer well clear of him.

Agree4 Disagree1

30 Jun 2015 13:01:26
Madrid would only let him go if he run his contract down and had no choice or if he was only scoring 10 goals a season, walking around the pitch and not influencing games like he used to, he will never come back to United and will probably finish his career in Portugal.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 13:15:04
MLS is my guess. he will never go to china as he does not need the money.

Agree4 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 13:20:06
this obsession with ronaldo needs to stop, he's gone, he's had his time with united all the talk every summer is boring. let the guy go lol.

i think he will either retire at madrid, go back to portugal or go america

Agree12 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 13:37:29
Perhaps he will go to US . MLS often give massive wages to old players

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 14:23:53
I think this is either Ronaldo's or Benitez' last season at Madrid - more than likely Benitez. They really won't get on.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 15:00:13
I don't think he will come back to us, I am not sure I want him back (more for the fact he is not the greatest Team player than what he did when he left,.I am sorry to say but for most continental players there dreams are for Barca/RM no matter how much he loved the club. We don't have to agree but we should understand)
However, I think.he could play to 40 and still standout, his body condition and desire is that good.

Agree1 Disagree1

30 Jun 2015 17:50:35
Make of it what you will but Ronaldo sold his image rights to Singapore businessman Peter Lim and quote was "This is a very strategic move for me and my management team to take the Cristiano Ronaldo brand to the next level especially in Asia

I love this thing that's happening where 'Ramos has decided he only wants United should he leave Madrid'. I guaran-damn-tee if Chelsea or any other top club for that matter put a more sizeable offer to him he would suddenly 'want Chelsea over anyone else'. Get real media lap dogs.

Believable5 Unbelievable14

30 Jun 2015 11:29:50
Doubt Jose would want him tho after Ramos' antics during his time there ha.

Agree2 Disagree2

30 Jun 2015 11:36:36
Well it was only because a journo spoke about it. I always swerve papers, twitter when it comes to rumours. But i do like Hunter and he seems to be fairly spot on when calling things, So when he came out and said what he said it made me take notice where previously I thought Ramos was only looking for a bumper deal.

Also I believe that Ramos' dad is a Utd fan. Is it inconceivable that he might actually want to come to us? Or do you believe that players nowadays only move for money JMB, have you lost all faith? lol

We are the biggest club in the world JMB! Are players not allowed to want to join a club because they realise this. Just happens we also have the money we've earnt fairly by being the biggest club in the world

Agree2 Disagree2

30 Jun 2015 12:46:51
Call me an old romantic, but I still hold the hope that players still have the desire to be at certain clubs regardless of the money. Ramos is and will be an even richer man no matter what happens so hopefully if he does end up at UTD it will be because he wants to be. Fergie always stated he only signed players that truly only wanted to be at UTD, I hope Van Gaal understands how important that is too.

Agree4 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 13:21:26
JMB

You are stating an opinion not fact. We will see whether your opinion is right or wrong about Ramos

Agree2 Disagree1

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 13:31:36
This arrogance that 'we are the biggest club in the world' is embarrassing. We may be a big club but we are not the biggest in the world and we are far from the best.

Cards on the table Ramos wants a new deal at Madrid. A big contract as it will be his last major one in football. Madrid are refusing to meet his demands. He hears interest in him from United and his brother fans the flames by mooting the story who in turn leaks it to the British press as Ramos's advisor (his brother) wanted.

Now City are apparently interested which will drive up the price even more. Ramos doesn't want Man Utd. RAMOS WANTS MADRID and if he can't have it then he WANTS MONEY. If he wanted to join us because 'we are the biggest club in football' he would say "I want to leave Madrid for footballing reasons and join the biggest club in football".

I cannot speak anymore sense today. It's starting to drive me mad!

Agree4 Disagree9

30 Jun 2015 14:46:46
JMB,

This is YOUR OPINION, you know that nothing of what you saying is true, but apparently if we don't agree with you then we aren't talking sense.

The press and ed's are suggesting what you are saying is incorrect, so it comes down to whether we believe people who have been privy to information or to someone who has spent all season finding the negative in every little thing united have done and constantly expected the worst. If your opinion based rants which you try to maintain are fact were correct we would have finished 7th last season and be looking for a new manager now, so forgive us for disagree when you talk 'sense'.

Agree7 Disagree2

30 Jun 2015 14:16:30
Oh you are a negative so and so JMB.

The fact of the matter is a quite reliable Madrid source has come out stating he wants to move and only to UTD. Sorry for being optimistic.

And to add, we are one of if not the biggest club in the world, doused in history and been pretty god damn successful these last 25 years especially. God forbid that a world class centre back like Ramos might actually want to move to a club like UTD!!

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 14:20:06
Cheers Pepgiggs. The negativity on here sometimes is incredible. Just trying to spark a bit of pride

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 14:21:05
I'd be concerned as well if City came in flashing the cash however the statement that Ramos has heard of the clubs intent and likes the idea of the project to return the club back to the top of England and Europe feels me with confidence that he will choose us over anyone else. As for the biggest club in the world? Well it's us or Madrid, global fans would suggest us, trophies would suggest them, revenue there can't be much in it with the Adidas deal now so it's a debate that will rumble on. Well, rumble on until you except it's us!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's a yellow card for using 'the project', Ports.}

30 Jun 2015 14:43:17
I might be in a minority here but for a number of different reasons i wouldn't want ramos at old trafford (most of these reasons have been covered by other contributors to this site). I do have to ask jmb how he claims to be stating fact when i assume we all don't really know- unless your ramos's agent. Do you really just mean it is one possibility?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 14:22:25
has ramos said he wants to leave for MONEY reasons? last time i checked he didnt.

There are so many games played now that it is almost impossible to know what is real and what isn't. All players will eventually be tarred with the same brush, 'the boy who cried wolf'.

Personally I would be amazed if we signed Ramos. It's all a games of bluffs, double bluffs, incompetence, ego, hearsay, greed, media manipulation and just plain bull. It's like an episode of Scandal or House of Cards.

Hopefully his intentions are legitimate, but I can't help but think if Bayern or City came in for him the rhetoric would change somewhat. Players have dream clubs, but they also have friends, family and advisers. Just look at what is happening with DDG. Next week it wouldn't surprise me if we see a picture of Ramos as a 10 year old wearing a Liverpool shirt, or printing off his homework on a 'Brother' printer.

No bookie is getting a penny from me this summer. Football is now politics.

You see someone like Herrera ,the way he talks about the club and the way he plays and it's obvious he really wanted to join us and it means a lot to him to play for United .
With Di Maria it was obvious he would have either preferred to stay at Real or else join PSG so we were effectively his 3rd choice and it showed at times in his performances .
My one worry is that Ramos could be more of a Di Maria than a Herrera

United are one of the biggest sporting institutions on the planet. To say otherwise shows a clear lack of insight and knowledge.

I have nothing against fellow supporters voicing off, but the never ending stream of negativity and rollocks that emanates from you on a daily basis is becoming annoying.

"I want to leave for money reasons!"

Said no footballer ever.

I read a comment down the page that questioned if I was a "true" fan because I didn't believe that every footballer we have ever signed did so because we are the #biggestclubintheworld.

What does that even mean? Tallest? Fattest? Most hectors of land?

Seriously, players are interested in things like money, location and winning trophies. Obviously most players have some vague interest in the history and prestige of a club. But when a player like Ramos is thinking about leaving a top club, 9 times out of 10, money is at the bottom of it. Ed001 has explained the situation and that Ramos's wages are the issue. If a supporter suggests that a player is signing for us for the money, rather than misty eyed romanticism, it doesn't make them a lesser supporter. It simply means that they have some understanding of the dynamics of the modern business called football.

Your welcome Welsh Red Devil. It is a very interesting write up if anybody has time to view it. Thanks again to Ed001

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate. It is a difficult situation as both sides are saying different things. Hunter is saying exactly what is coming from Ramos's side. So it is a solid source he has, the issue is whether they are being entirely honest with him. The way they used Barcelona suggests they are not entirely truthful.}

30 Jun 2015 12:23:00
Yes ed001 you could be right, he might just be being used as a a pawn. I read an interesting article, it could have been sid lowe, i'm not sure but they did state, regarding that whole being offered to Barca story, that Madrid are quite clever when it comes to turning their own players into the villain if there is a possibility that they might move. He then proceeded to name different players and incidents. But he basically said that it could have been Madrid who started that story in the 1st place to make Ramos look bad.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is possible, but it was certainly believed by the Barca presidential candidate to be from Ramos's brother. Having said that, it is difficult to know for sure, as we don't know what checks the candidate would have in place to ensure it was a legitimate offer from Ramos.}

Could any of the eds fill me in on how this Barcelona transfer ban works please? How can they have signed Vidal if they are on a ban? Because although he can't officially play for them yet they have signed him so someone else can't sign him. Now a couple of the presidential candidates are talking about Paul pogba being a target. Could they still sign him even though they are on a ban?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he just can't be registered for the team until January. So he will be sitting out the next 6 months. The presidential candidates are just talking, I wouldn't take much notice of those links.}

30 Jun 2015 11:36:29
Ok thanks a lot ed. You say Vidal will sit out though, does that mean that he won't stay with Sevilla? Missing half a season won't do him any good when he can actually play for them? Thanks again ed

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - right now he is set to sit out the next 6 months, I think, from what I understand, the transfer ban blocks them from signing him and sending him out on loan so he has to just watch. He can't be registered with Barca until January.}

30 Jun 2015 09:51:01

Think there is certainly a chance, Graham Hunter does usually know his stuff but the

re is also a chance he is being played like the rest of us could be. If Real came for DDG and we have gone back at them and said well we want Ramos and he wants to come to us then fair play to Ed and the rest for not rolling over and doing to Real what they do to other teams. I guess we have known for a long time that DDG may leave and they have been working on a plan to soften the blow, who knows really but seems like we will find out in the next couple of weeks.

Ed2. I know you're not doing transfer related rumours on this page, but wondered if you could answer a FFP question. As I know you've done comprehensive write ups on this in the past? What do the changes voted through yesterday actually mean (outside of the UEFA spin) will it help clubs like City and PSG to spend what they like again?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - In simple terms, the changes are there to reward clubs who have been compliant and want to invest going forward. So if a club has worked within the rules for three years say, and has a new owner or investor that wants to put a lot of money in to the club, then they can give notice of this happening and will be allowed to do so.}

30 Jun 2015 09:36:32
So a club like Arsenal could get a large new investor and notify UEFA that they are intending to spend a large amount when this happens and due to their compliance this would not be accounted for in FFP rulings?

Hi all, is it just me but, I hope we're not going to have a summer of promise, promise that big signings will be made, and then start haggling last minute again trying to get a bargain. I would think it would be better to pay a bit more, and get our business done as quickly as possible, rather than wait for some of our players to get injured during pre season, and let every other club add zero's to the price of players we try to sign when they see how much more we need them. Also why not get them early, and give the a full pre season with us, as the CL draw will be here soon, and I don't want us failing because our new players aren't signed or are not match fit yet. That would be so much more expensive in the long run!
Cheers

Mhb,

In reality we don't know yet what is going to happen, it seems like we have targets and ed seems to be doing a good job, all of our business is being done so quietly behind closed doors which is why all the rumours you hear are 'apparently' and 'united haven't bid yet' etc, the press don't really have a clue and neither do we, but we can be hopeful as we know the funds are available and LVG and giggs have both said we are looking to really strengthen the team to fight on all fronts.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 07:32:55
Something I was thinking while we were linked with alves and now Ramos with people saying we would get X amount of years out of them because they are 32 and 29, we can only base that on previous generation of footballer, for example Carrick is winding down his career now, however with the advances in rest recovery and a better understanding of the body by the player and how to look after themselves surely the age of decline and retirement should start to become older and older there have already been players surpass the general age we consider players should retire, imagine if Ryan giggs was 16 and coming through today what age would he go to now with all the medical advances we have today.

When players are on loan united send scouts to watch how players develop, how many of his games did you actually see or have you just looked at stats? We will have watched him regular and made a decision that he isn't good enough to play for the first team meaning he is allowed to leave.

As much as I like Ramos as a player and think he would bring a lot to the team I find some of the hypocritical posts on here amusing. When Wayne Rooney held United to 'ransom' over his contract demands and suggesting he may leave for a bumper new deal elsewhere he was torn apart by most fans, deemed the Villian of Stretford and hated on by everyone and their grandma's.

Now Sergio Ramos is doing the exact same to Real Madrid and 'if' (big massive 'if' at that) he signs for United it will be for an obscene amount of cash and he will become by far our highest paid player. So IF he leaves Madrid for United it will be for money (a massive amount that Madrid aren't even willing to pay so make of that what you will) who is the mugs in all of this?

One last point, Wayne Rooney got vile abuse for getting himself a bumper new deal and yet he has given us his full career and continues to do so and will eventually become our top goalscorer ever. Di Maria is paid a heap more (which of course he has merited right?) and Ramo's IF he signs will earn significantly more so. We live in funny old world full of fickleness, hypocrisy and a buring need of materialistic yearns for new well polished toys.

30 Jun 2015 05:38:12
JMB

If it happens and I remain dubious, I think we should not underestimate the worth of prizing one of Real Madrid's key players, still in his prime out of their team. Psychologically it could be very interesting. Someone can correct me but I don't remember Madrid selling a player who they didn't want to, who forced his way out. If it happens then is it a turning point in the pre conceived notion, they have perpetuated, that the flow is only one way to Madrid which they have always maintained as the "end point" in players dreams. To end that could well be worth the fee.

Lastly Ramos is 29 so not too long term but perhaps be here long enough to see whether the two outstanding young centre back prospects we brought in the last 12 months can develop. That is what LVG will likely have in mind, giving them a role model and looking to the youth in 3 to 4 years.

Agree1 Disagree1

30 Jun 2015 07:07:35
Ramos would never end up being our highest paid player and is on 5.5 million euros a year mate after tax which works out to 4 million pounds if i am not mistaken.

We have RVP collecting 10 to 12 million pounds a year and spending most of his time on the physio table. I have no Idea what rooney is on but would assume even higher than that. Ramos will probably end up on something much higher than he is at madrid but not at these guys level.

Some of the fans need a head check here and make up their mind if they want world class players as wages always plays a big part to getting them and nothing wrong with anyone looking to increase their earnings.

Agree5 Disagree1

30 Jun 2015 07:41:49

You want the club to be back to where it was, you complained last year all season that we weren't good enough, and now we want to buy a top player you are complaining about that as well and looking for the negatives.

It can't just be that you want to find negatives in everything? I am just waiting for beast to reply saying 'I agree with JMB' now to complete the set.

{Ed001's Note - not that much, though he would want a big salary, I very much doubt he would ask that much. Though it might end up being a huge salary to clinch him with other clubs circling now and waiting to see if they can jump in and get him. This is one of those situations that can go either way, bridges are being covered in kerosene, but no one has quite set them on fire, so he could still stay. Look at what actors get per movie and no one begrudges it. It's the entertainment business after all.

City are already in Violation of FPP and will not be able to do the wages or the transfer mate. They are half our turnover and just 5% less in wages than us.

If he goes it is United mate. They are losing money every year and if I am not mistaken were fined but suspended or trying to pay a lesser fine to UEFA.

I think he is coming and will see this thing happen quite quickly, window open tomm right?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - for starters FFP rules are being relaxed. Secondly they are looking to offload a number of players to bring in some money. Thirdly they are looking to agree payment plans that get round some of the restrictions.}

30 Jun 2015 18:09:46
Ed001

I realise all those things but they would need to have a fire sale and take bath if they want to get involved in transfers like Ramos. The players they will try and offload are going to be long drawn out process and no guarantees.

They have more than a few like we do in RVP and Nani whose wages are a hindrance to anyone who might be interested no matter how cheap they might be in terms of a transfer.

If we go with the theory that all these players are in it for the money then most will not move and sit tight and collect their weekly wages as long as they have a contract.

I mean does any believe for a second a Turkish side can afford RVP's wages and even more silly does anyone believe he would be willing to move his family out there. Istanbul is a nice city for a few days to visit but not to live there LOL.

The families of these footballers starting from the wags are spoiled rotten and have a major say in where they go.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you also have to remember that FFP is taken over 3 years, so they have 3 years before their spending this year hits. By then it might have been lifted altogether. Under normal circumstances I agree they wouldn't take the chance and will be careful, but when a big name player like Ramos, who would generate worldwide publicity, becomes available, they will take a risk if need be. Having said that, I really think it is a matter of Madrid or Man Utd for Ramos, but you never know these days. Principles go out the window for many when money is waved under their noses.}

The funny thing is JRed if you were to choose who is or has been the best CB of recent times, the lad we let go for buttons Gerrard Pique would surely be up near the top of that list. He is also the type of defender (if reports are to be believed) LVG wants as he can play the ball with his feet well.

I honestly believe at the moment Koscielny at Arsenal is the best central defender in the PL and possibly Europe. Majorly underrated outwith North London in my opinion. Who's better at the minute? Very few come close.

Having said that I have always been a massive fan of SR and would be gleefully pleased should we bring him in. Ten times the defender Hummels is.

JMB I 100% agree about Koscielny being the best defender in the PL and one of the best in Europe. He's been brilliant the last couple of years.

In terms of the money it will cost to have Ramos over the next few years, while it will be a massive amount, we need world class players. He is one of the best CB's in the world and we haven't had that for the last 4/5 years back to when Rio and Vidic were still great. I've started to care less and less about how much money we spend. As long as we get the right players and don't get stung by FFP then that's all that matters.
