i really prefer us to sign De Rossi instead of Fellaini

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Me too. surely no one would disagree?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't care which one we sign as long as we eventually sign a good midfielder.

Agree0 Disagree0

How about both

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 11:24:05
Actually I would. Fellaini is younger, prem proven and knows the staff and their coaching methods. De Rossi I've never rated as high as some do. I think he's too old to adapt to the pace of the league. I also don't think he's cope with Moyes training and could flop. Players moving here from Italy over the last few years haven't had a good success rate.

I've been watching a few YouTube videos of Herrera and to be honest I don't think he's worth £31m (e 36m). I think he'd be a good addition, better than Cleverly and Anderson but the price is too steep. let's be honest is he better than Cabaye? who has Premier League experience and could be sold closer to £14m.
Is he better than Demebele? How much would he cost now? 20m max?
Imo we shouldn't meet out the clause. What do you think Ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You have been watching a few you tube videos and you don't think he is worth 31m. Well thanks for that in depth analysis, and tactical comment. If only I had your knowledge I would be twice the person.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not saying he's worth that, but in today's market you have to pay it to sign the players you want. If he valued at 36million and we feel we need him we have to meet the buy out clause, if bayern want a player and are told 36 million they will pay it no haggling over a price or anything so I think if he's a player moyes feels we need then we have to pay his buyout

Agree0 Disagree0

Dump

I was being honest, I didn't want to come off as pretending to have watched the player. When people were talking about Thiago I didn't say anything until I watched the whole U21 european championships, and I only watched it because of thiago and it was clear he was the type of player we needed. Before the news broke fo a bid non of us would have had in in our top 10mf targets!

Caolan

I agree sometime you have to pay extra, but i'm saying if we are going to spend 36million euros can we not atleast bid on modric/gundogan/ kondgobia etc. as there are better options out there imo. I think moyes is panicking.

Agree0 Disagree0

36million euros is the price Gotze was bought for!

I don't know what's the mata with mourinho he parades the place thinking he's some sort of Moses who can part the sea of premiership teams to win the title. The only thing he will win is an Oscar for his performances, to be frank it's terryable how he treats some players. I'm glad we didn't get him at united I think he's just a hazard to him self, good to see we set the ba high in terms of standards at our team. Moyes is a good choice IMO

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oh I see what you did there

Agree0 Disagree0

If Mourinho doesn't play Mata then he hasn't got a Kalou.

Agree0 Disagree0

Give them a Cech for Mata

Agree0 Disagree0

It doesn't mata what any juan says, if we bid for mata they won't be Willian to do business

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 07:27:30
In my opinion he needs a lampard in the face.

DanB

Agree0 Disagree0

Fraza that made me laugh.

But what is the deal with not playing Mata. Its Ludicrous.

I'd kill to have him at United. Sheer Quality

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes deserves an Oscar if we get Mata!

Agree0 Disagree0

I have tried to think of a witty reply, but I can't. (maybe too much falling down water yesterday?)
I will just say that Torres is S##t. Schurrle-ly not too offensive?

Lads, I don't have a tv and I need a link to match of the day asap. Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If you download google chrome you can see matches on there with their free app

Agree0 Disagree0

Wiziwig mate, I use it regular, there will be dozens of streams on there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers guys

Agree0 Disagree0

Www.argos.com cheap tvs . treat yourself mate its 2013

CAIN

Agree0 Disagree0

Sadly CAIN my tv broke today and I was unable to get tv in on my old one, so was in a bit of a bind to see the action. Hopefully will be able to enjoy us beating liverpool tomorrow.

Agree0 Disagree0

Go on vipbox good streams and not just football every sport including all the pay for view boxing:)

Fraza did you not know Fellaini's middle name is Samson?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2013 21:28:00
Moyes hasn't got a clue, we're already languishing in sixth BEHIND STOKE. FACT.

I blame Woodward. It's obvious that he is the real reason that Stoke are ahead of us. We should have gone for Mark Hughes as our manager - I heard he once played for our great club?

:D

Believable0 Unbelievable0

LOL

On a brighter not, City were sh.t today. If Hull had a half decent striker, they would have won that game. City seem so open.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like my bets today got pretty much everything wrong. Anyone find the Bundesliga difficult to predict? that and the pl killed me today :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Brilliant dodgy, never fail to make me laugh on here.

I await the people who take it seriously.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stick to home teams, munchengladbach and hanburg are good at home, I was however surprised to see schalke beating leverkusen after how poor they were in the champions league qualifiers

Agree0 Disagree0

I did but picked the wrong sides. Picked leverkusen and Nurnberg. Stayed away from the other games as I thought they were too tough to separate :)

Copy and paste if you'll forgive me Eds

Manchester United activate Spaniards buy-out clause
According to our sources Manchester United have activated midfielder, Ander Herrera's buy-out clause.

After an initial bid of £26m was rejected we now hear that both clubs have held talks and came to the conclusion the Atletico Bilbao player would only leave if a £30m fee was paid out by David Moyes as that would allow the player to speak with the club due to his current contract agreements.

We hear both parties want personal terms to be agreed quickly before the deadline finishes on Monday, expect a medical on the final day.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pardoe if you don't mind my asking, where does this copy and paste come from? Cheers!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pardoe

Can I ask what was the source and is it reliable. Will make my day if it is true.

Agree0 Disagree0

Were did you see this
BIGAL REDFOREVER

Agree0 Disagree0

I seen that too. Is this person reliable?

Agree0 Disagree0

Good news IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

Came from someone called e woodward on twitter :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Its also mentioned on sportswitness.ning that came after what is for twitter a pretty reliable account,
also Bilbao have taken 1 extra player for tomorrows noon kick off against Real, so someone is going that cannot be on the bench

Agree0 Disagree0

Could be true because all Spain papers are saying he is yet to decide

Juve got Vidal for €11m but there's no value in the market, this guy is on another level, without a doubt the best box to box midfielder in the world at the minute

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Anon I fully agree, he's the player I wanted utd to go for this summer, he's class at the moment will only get better, I think Real but a bid in for him this summer but it was turned down.If real can't get him, we haven't a hope, the way our transfer window has gone!Absolutejoke.com

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 20:32:15
Watching Juve against Lazio. Marchisio will find it hard to get many starts in this team and Pogba and Vidal look Imperial and not too far fetched to see how both are going to be valued in 35 million to 45 million mark.

It hurts when you think of the fact that it cost them about a total of 15 million euros for both players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It hurts even more seeing us searching for scraps for our midfield when if we had played and paid him. Pogba would be still with us!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 20:05:58
Encouraging words for us from Ande Hererra's father, although he says it could be difficult for his son to leave Bilbao because he worked very hard to get there but he says, "its upto Manchester United". , and that says it all, the boy is interested but it's upto Mr Woodward to stop dilli dallin bids and meet exactly what his buy out clause states €36m. Ed believe me this one is our man come Monday 11pm

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think it is also encouraging that Bilbao have brought 19 players for tomorrows match against Real madrid so that they have a spare player in the case that Herrera drops out.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just read the same quotes and I think hid dad is saying it was our decision to bid for him and not initiated from their camp mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 20:05:55
Ok guy let's forget about signings for now, the lads have a job to do tomorrow, there's a rather noisy lot in scouser land getting a head of there stations! Time to put em in there place, in the own place!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Whether we keep talking about transfers on here or not it has no impact on how our team will perform tomorrow lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think his post is about showing support for the team. Rather than all posts about transfers.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 19:05:36
Am I the only one that has said from day one of this transfer window that we will not sign anyone? A new CEO and manager, so a new relationship between them both new to the club and DM would want to take stock of what we already have before buying. However we can all see that we lack a quality center mid and a left winger however perhaps DM believes was have already got the qualities needed to retain the EPL?

I do hope that am I completely wrong and we do sign Fellaini, De Rossi or Herrera? But realistically we probably just end up with Fellaini which I'd be happy with as I feel all we really lack is some steel. Use adnan, zaha and lingard more this year and not do what SAF did to Pogba and Freyers get them involved with the first team.

Never mind bring on the spouse and can't wait to go to the palace game.

Tucker

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We're all frustrated mate. We'll sign before Tuesday, I'd put my season ticket on it. I do admit it's been a terrible window though.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 18:55:44
If we don't get anybody by Monday Windy Woodward should resign.
But if we do get the players Moyes wants I suppose I'll have to give him credit.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In fairness regardless of signings I think he should step aside from transfer negotiations

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 18:49:58
I fancy us to smash that scouse lot tomorrow lads. I'm sat in a scouse boozer with lads getting ready for a cracking day. We are Manchester united. 1-3.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't think you will. Moyes never one at anfield in 10 years with Everton, ok utd a better team but it will be playing on the minds of players as well as manager. Moyes not the right guy for the job. SAF got a lot of decisions right, a hell of a lot but think this one is a big mistake. You may find yourselfs struggling for top 4 this year and you will all hound at Moyes that its his fault. Which it will be of coarse. 2-1 pool the morn and top of the table. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

We'll see tomorrow. You've had two very uninspiring wins against limited opposition. Your best player is banned & your defense is very dodgy IMO. I can see RVP & Kagawa causing you some problems. Come back after the game & tell me I was wrong. Or more than likely right. & as for top four, we'll either win it or finish second & you know it. Must be hard for you guys knowing you're only chance of silverware is the Micky mouse cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol Liverpool fans think just because they beat two mid table teams 1-0 (with Stoke it could have easily been 1-1 hadn't Mignolet saved the penalty) they're going to have a good year lol.We may struggle for top 4?When was the last time we didn't qualify for ucl for you to say it and when was the last time we didn't even finish top two, 2004-05 I believe? With signings or not, we're always going to be favourites against you, you don't even stand a chance for top 4, top 3 will most probably be Chelsea, City and us (without order) and Tottenham are massively improved so they will finish 4th at worst.Good luck with fighting it out against Arsenal for Europa League, that's where you belong anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

At least we know you will only get worse JRC08

Agree0 Disagree0

Well we will see what happens at the end of the game and if we loose I will come on here and say that I was wrong and you were right but if you loose go onto the pool site and admit we were the better team. As for Nicholas_United, what a stupid statement in if he didn't save the penalty it would have been 1-1. If De Gea didn't save those shots at Swansea it would have been 4-4. Same thing ye muppet. But he did save it and we won just like your keeper made the saves and you won.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool have played two games and were probably lucky to come away with the three points in both those games. Granted, they have played some nice football; but without Suarez, they lack a lot of punch.

I fancy us to win tomorrow.

Agree0 Disagree0

Done deal. Hope you like humble pie son.

So Rooney apparently suffered a head injury and is a major doubt for the Liverpool game. Is this Moyes' mind games and he is fine or maybe a transfer in the works for him to leave the cub? Oh how I hate conspiracies.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Rooney fit to play

Manchester United has sent in a £10, 25m bid for DeRossi and have had a €10m bid for Sneidjer rejected

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2013 18:36:07
The only fact that matters is that Man U are the biggest club in the world with 650 million supporters worldwide. That's 10% of the world population and equivalent to the US and the EU population combined.

How did this happen? Because the club has an aura and a reputation for having the most charismatic and talented players, playing swashbuckling football.

The Glazers have bought the right to be the custodian of the brand and are trying to carry off a very risky strategy of exploiting the brand through maximum commercialisation to pay down their debt whilst investing minimally in new players. Under SAF it worked (at least domestically) because the man is a genius. Witness not just what he did for us but what he did for Aberdeen who did nothing before came and have done nothing since.

We can't expect any other manager to replicate what Ferguson did. That's no lack of faith in Moyes who is as good a choice as we could have made, just a reflection of the uniqueness of SAF.

As such, we have to spend big now to move towards Bayern, RM & Barca. The tactical genius of SAF almost papered over the cracks against RM last year until Nani got himself sent off but there is not denying the gulf beteen us and these three teams is very significant. If we don't spend big soon, the result will be that a generation of kids will become supporters of one of these clubs and our position as the greatest club in the world will come under threat.

If they won't or can't spend big then the Glazers should cede custodian rights to someone else. We will have a very good idea if this is the case by 11pm on 2nd Sept.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Man U. KLOOT will not be happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 17:55:09
When it comes to transfers I don't, and have never put us among the elite in terms of getting the job done.

To me, you have the top bracket, where teams want a player, bid the amount the club want and get the player;

RM, Barcelona, Chelsea, PSG, City, Bayern etc. (I don't think spurs should be in this bracket yet).

Then you have clubs like us, who test the waters and then run as fast as they can if we can't afford or don't see 'value' in the player, clubs like;

United, AC Milan, Juventus, Arsenal, etc.

We're a top club but we just never get the job done.

Over the years we've been in for several top players, and as far as I can tell RVP was the only world class player to join us over other teams.

I think another indication of how we fair in the transfer market (rightly or wrongly) is our maximum amount we've paid for a player;

Real Madrid - £80M
Barcelona - £61M
Chelsea - £50M
PSG - £57M
Monaco - £53M
United - £32.5M

I think that says it all really, players may not be 'worth' £50M+ but nowadays you have to move with the values. and it just doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon.

Do I want us to spend like PSG? hell no.

If anything, I want us to spend like Bayern, The club want £30M? pay them £30M. deal done.

My last point, is that although I may complain about transfers, come September 2nd, I will completely forget about the transfer window and enjoying watching the great squad we do have, with some of the best players in the League.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So those teams are 'elite' because they throw silly money at clubs in order to get players? Not sure I would agree.

The best teams in the transfer market are Porto and Spurs. Quality players at good prices and massive profit from selling them on a few years later.

The teams you mention are poor when it comes to transfers. Rather than buy a player for a good price they wait until they have already signed for another club and pay two or three times the amount - often only a year or two later!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 18:27:12
I completely agree Moon mate.

I don't wanna see us be held to ransom but sometimes you just need to pay what is needed to get the player in.

I think we need more football men at the club and less business men.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 18:38:11
Agree with most of that Moon especially our transfer policy. "Some of the best players in the league" - apart from in midfield, our midfield is shocking.!

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with you Moonio.

Playing hardball for 4-5 million for one player isn't going to be very significant over the period of 3-4 yrs. Its better if we just pay what the selling club wants and get the player we want.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree to an extent that we should be getting the deal done as it were but I also do not want us spending over the odds just to get the player. I just wish we would be willing to go that little extra that we seem to be missing at the minute and I don't think that is too much to ask for.

Agree0 Disagree0

No name, the best club in the transfer market is Real Madrid. make no mistake about it.

They set their sights on a player and do everything they can, even bend the rules to sign them.

Behind them is Bayern imo, they simply ask the club what they want for the player, if they think its a good deal they go for them, if not, they don't.

they also have a great knowledge of player contracts, Martinez, Gotze, Thiago, Shaqiri all signed through buy out clauses over the past 2 summers.

Now, I don't want us to pay £40M for Craig Gardner. I want us to recognize someone like Vidal would turn us into serious contenders to win the UCL and then pay the £45M for him.

Simple as that really.

personally I believe we will sign De Rossi and nobody else.

Agree0 Disagree0

I tend to agree on the fact we will sign 1 player.I would rather sign De Rossi than Fellaini and not pay over the top for ok players and wait and see what we can do in the jan window depending where we are placed in the league.

De rossi is one hell of a player even at 30 and will give us a good 3 years and for 12 million that is a good investment compared to getting fleeced and paying 10 to 15 million too much for other players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree moon. You are spot on!

Agree0 Disagree0

Moon, I hope you're right about de rossi.

shappy's expressed concerns about whether he could adjust to the pace of the premier league.

I'd just love to find out.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we go in for Draxler he is worth a good sum, but if we go in we better not deal with it the same as we are supposedly with Herrera - don't know if any one else agrees Draxler could be useful and we should not allow ourselves to be beaten to him especially if it is Arsenal explicitly we cannot allow ourselves to be outbid by a penny pincher like Arsene Wenger

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Draxler is a great player - but there are other areas of the pitch which need strengthening first. I imagine at this stage in the window Draxler will be going for £40m+. Is it worth blowing our budget on 1 player when we could bring two in who would better strengthen our team? I don't think so. That said - if its either him or Fellaini I'd probably chose Draxler!

Agree0 Disagree0

Draxler played in the CL the other night. Doubt he'll be moving.

Has everyone got there rants ready for Monday transfer deadline day? I have a bad feeling, just don't think anyone will be willing to let players go so late, and find it mad how we didn't even bother with Ericsson {Ed007's Note - Don't you think there are enough sponsorship deals?}

So officialy moyes havnt sign ny1, varela was saf signing and was signed before moyes was appointed. So if we don't sign ny1, just wantd to know whn was the last time if ever a manager of utd or ny otha club dint sign ny player in a transfer window.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ferguson is the only united manager to ever deal with a transfer window. It only became compulsory in 2002.

Agree0 Disagree0

We will sign players by Monday night for god sake.

Agree0 Disagree0

GDS

It's not been pretty though has it? I really don't understand what has been happening this window. I know we changed Manager and Chief Exec but you would have hoped we had thought it through a little better than we appear to have

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH,

Of course mate, been a shambles by all accounts, can't really work out the strategy, I'm not going to judge until Tuesday, then I will judge and then support the lads we do have.

I was thinking the other day if we never signed kagawa and we were all sitting here now after Monday saying 'kagawa from Dortmund would be a great signing'. In other words, sometimes what we already have is better than what we can sign.

Agree0 Disagree0

The transition between SAF/Gill and Moyes/EdWood has certainly been a poor one.

Agree0 Disagree0

GDS

I'm sorry, even if we sign someone on Monday will be the plan b-c. Because we clearly never were serious about bringing the players we've been linked this past week.

Right now we seem to bring whoever is available and is pretty good. Otherwise Fellaini/Herrera/De Rossi would've been here already.

I'll be waiting until monday, but right now I'm no longer anxious because it may not happen anything special!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 16:49:37
In the next two days we will find out whether the Glazers have ambition for the club beyond the next sponsorship deal. Will we be happy or just amazed at the paucity of our ambition with our only addition the big Belgian?

I have to say I have been shocked by our efforts in the market so far. It has appeared to be a shambles with offers being made in a disjointed way to date. I wait to be proved wrong but so far there seems to be an obvious glass ceiling of £30m per player imposed on our spending. Sydney may deny it but that is the only conclusion so far and signing Fellaini is not going to disprove it. 11pm on Monday we will know but there is an awful lot to do now and little time.

Even if we buy we will be three games in including two important ones and we still have to integrate them into the club. The strategy may save a little money but cost precious points.

I don't think we can blame Moyes on this, it has to be down to the set financial direction dictated by the owners carried out by the CEO. Many criticise Mourinho but would he accept our efforts if they didn't bring the players he requested, would he accept offers being made well under valuations then not following through?

So Glazers it is time to show us the money.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We hear this excuse or that excuse but other teams have proved time and again if you put the money on the table you can buy the top players.
You hear a lot of people say but "he's not available what can you do " well gotze, Martinez cavani falcao where only available at the right price.
United are a massive club and top players will come here if the money is right,
Fabergas was never going to come for 30 mill and no matter what some people will say we will never know what might of happened if we had tempted barce with 40 mill, would barce of turned it down what would fabergas of done if Barcelona accepted.
Would Dortmund of turn 35/40 down for gundgeon
I'm not one of the people who think it's fifa and expect 100 mill spends and expect 5 signings but I was hoping for a top quality cm not because it's exciting but because I feel it would make a massive difference to the first 11

Agree0 Disagree0

Imo, the responsibility has to be collective and they should all share the blame. The Glazers, Moyes, Woodward are all equally responsible imo. Its all been poorly handled right from the start with Thiago being the start of it.

As for "would Mourinho have accepted this", I don't think Chelsea have set the world alight so far with their signings as well and have, imo failed to bring in what they actually needed, which was a top striker and a defensive midfielder.

Spurs and City have done some good business though although City lost out on Isco.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 18:21:40
I'm not sure if I agree that there is a glass ceiling at 30m. But I do think that way we seem to be run atm is that the accountants hace the final say.

I appreciate that we need to run the club in a financially sound manner, but there needs to be more of a focus on the football.

At the moment it seems like we have too many business people and not enough football people at the club.

If you look at Bayern they have ex players working at the club all the way through the club at every level. That means they have an insight into the world of football and that understanding helps improve the club.

Ed Woodward is the perfect example of a man who is an expert in the world of business but is lacking in footballing nous.

Moon said that he thought we need a sporting director and I agree with him. We need someone who can work as a go between between the business men and the coaching staff at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are we looking to be the biggest brand in the world or the best football team .

Munich are the bench mark at the moment, won everything last year and continue to improve the first 11

{Ed044's Note - Interestingly another Ed was discussing the return on investment that AON feel they have got from Man Utd.}

Cabaye has been booed at St James by his own fans. I imagine that will be the next name to be linked to or the one we under bid for.

Wouldn't fancy negotiating with kinnear. you'd need a shower afterwards

What do people think about Ryan Bertrand for left back?

Assuming we are not able to sign BAINES, SHAW or our other LB targets I think BERTRAND would be a decent option.

He's out of the team only because of Cole and as Buttner is also going on loan we could do with another player in that position. Though the chances of Chelsea selling him are not very high.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I actually really like Bertrand as a professional.

Whether he's good enough to be a first choice left back is a different question all together.

I would put him in the same bracket as the Cleverleys and Hendersons of this world.

great little squad player, nothing else.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 16:07:05
Frankly if I was given an option between signing Ashley Young or keeping Robert Brady I would keep Brady.

Young has done absolutely nothing since joining us. At least he used to take good free kicks at Villa he's not even doing that at United.

I'd prefer keeping a left footed Brady over signing Young for £15m.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed is there something wrong with the site? ;).

This post looks like its 2 years to late haha.

I don't know how many supporters I will offend by saying this.
Watching last 3 games, I can't understand why we are buying fellaini? Specially anything above 15m? He don't look like that player.
If we are just buying for having depth, I will dare say promote devidee petrucci and janujaz. They will provide depth. And we definatly have ageless giggs to fill in.
No need for this kind of playing fellaini.
Yes if he is saving himself and playing with mind wash. I don't know. Definatly moyes would know batter.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Moyes would definitely know Batter, the scots love a good ol' frying session!

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini is different to every midfielder Utd have. He isn't a technical player that will play further upfield. He's a strong physical player that will help to break things up and free up Carrick a little. He's been played out of position at Everton for the last two seasons due to lack of players there. Both Moyes and the player himself have said that he will contribute more from a deeper position. I honestly think he'll be a really good signing, especially if we also bring in Herrera or someone like him to play a midfield 3 against the bigger teams.

Agree0 Disagree0

He He He nice one centurian liked it liked it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Son of Sir Matt

I don't believe Felaini has the passing or finesse for a central midfield role that would take us to another level. Decent player that causes problems when played in a particular way.

We have been so starved of signings I wonder whether some will hail signing Fellaini as a master stroke solely out of sheer relief.

Agree0 Disagree0

Remains to be seen but I think Fellaini would be perfect for United we shall all be surprised how good he actually is

Oh and USE LOGIC christ you pick a name like and then claim Giggs can do what Fellaini will donee your head read mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Pardoe.
U dnt get the point. I have put fellaini in the bracket of players who just fill in and contribute in passing side and back ways.
So that was simple logic

Maybe I'm just being optimistic here, but maybe the reason we've been pretty quiet so far in the transfer market is the situation with Real and Bale?, maybe once this is finalized our targets(maybe Ouzil Modric, Di Maria etc), may become avialable, I know some of these players have said they're staying, but surely Madrid have to recoup some of their outlay?, it's prob a very coy ploy by Daniel Levy to leave until last min and therefore making it difficult for other rivals to get their targets, once the Bale deal is sorted I think we could see a bit of movement, or at least I hope so, as its been a pretty disappointing window from us at present. We can hope if nothing else!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pal of mine just came past Carrington, press & TV cameras mobbing the place. Is it all about to happen!

Agree0 Disagree0

Annie give it up mate, no on is in the mood especially now with 48 hours left.

Yeah it has been so top secret that all the press have been warned they would be sent to Guantanamo if they leaked any news of this massive announcement. Scholes is coming out of retirement:)

Agree0 Disagree0

Im still with you annie, at least you've had the courage to stand by your prediction, even if it doesn't happen I still believe that you believed it would. There are so many posts on this site where people have made predictions, and the posters have never followed up with anything else. Regardless of what happens, your posts have been a little ray of light in a rather gloomy transfer window.

Agree0 Disagree0

Getting a little bored with your rumours now Annie. There have been about twenty over the past month - none of which have come to fruition.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't have a problem with anyone posting stuff that has some merit but what do you get by posting pure fiction.

The site is suppose to be good banter and exchange of views and info that is maybe not out there.

We have 48 hours left in this window and I would prefer to have stuff posted that has some relevance and credibility as we are all quite frustrated by what is going on and personally not in the mood for bs.

I guess when he laces it up for RM tomm that will be the end of the silly stuff unless people want to still believe that he is going to play against Bilbao and then catch the redeye to manchester to sign and do his medical:)

Agree0 Disagree0

Carrington is down a long dead end road well off the main road, which I know well

So Annie given where it is, how was your friend just "coming past" Carrington?

Agree0 Disagree0

Redseven, I`ve only ever made one prediction, 3 players in, one of which will be considered marquee. I will stick by that & if I am wrong I won't hide away, I `ll be on here Tuesday morning come what may. My source has always been spot on before and I see no reason to doubt him just yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Red Man, I will have take your word for it as I have never been to Carrington, but I do believe my pal. Why would he lie? He`s a scaffolder, if there is any building work going on around there? Tomorrow those ****** down the M62 are going to discover why we are Manchester United. Yes we are going with a new manager and with no new players but whatever team that Moyes puts out will be wearing the shirt and know what it means to wear the shirt. I know we will beat them easily and the support will be magnificent. I managed to get a brief so can't wait. {Ed007's Note - Enjoy your day mate.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be honest a draw would not be a bad result. They are on a good run of form and after all it is at anfield and even at their worst they are always very hard games.

Agree0 Disagree0

What you talking about we are going to absolutely slaughter them

I hope you are right. I expect a very tough game.

Andrew

They are undefeated in their last 15 games and finished last year on a pretty good form and BD seems to have settled down and has a decent squad.

Just being realistic mate and 100% sure there are many other here, who would concur. Tomm will be very tough and the worst thing god forbid is if we lose, that plus the shambles of this window will be very hard to stomach.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 15:18:26
My biggest problem this window is why have we taken so long? It's not like we have never heard of De Rossi, it's not like Moyes didn't know he wanted Baines and Fellaini. Why so long? Don't get me wrong, if we get those two and Herrera I will be delighted! I think we have missed a few tricks though, Paulinho looks good, Moutinho was ideal as were others. We shall see what we do but I hope this isn't how we so business in the future because I think it looks desperate and isn't the United way. I don't blame Moyes for this, I'd say it's purely Woodwards rubbish negotiating skills.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A 25 year old who just moved to Europe, I'm afraid it would have been a big gamble. He is a good player, no doubt about that, but I rate Fellaini higher.

Moutinho is 27 years old and spent his carreer in the portugese league, also a gamble.

The player I really don't understand why we didn't go for is Lamela. He is significantly better than any winger we have and is one of the most talented young players out there

Agree0 Disagree0

Using your arguments, anyone is a gamble unless he has played in premier league!

So, let's gamble and maybe we'll get a Mata, Hazard, Aguero, Yaya Toure, Vidic or Hernandez gamble!

It's a stupid excuse. Every player is a gamble unless you know the furure!

There are really talented players that are beast anywhere. We gamble a lot, some right, some wrong but is why we love this game!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lamela isn't guaranteed to succeed. His defensive work-rate is appalling, which is why none of Europe's biggest teams moved for him. He's looked very good in an average Roma side in a poor Serie A. For me, it's a classic example of people thinking the grass is always greener on the other side. Right now, he's not as good a player as Nani, and there isn't a cast-iron guarantee he ever will be.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Dark Lord - sure I read somewhere that he's a bit of a trouble maker? Anyway, I'm sure nani would look world class in The Italian league? Maybe even Young! I can see the points about being a gamble and think our reservations stem from veron & kleberson etc?

Regardless - I'm sure we will win tomorrow against (king brennys litter -that name still cracks me up!). Then a few signings.

Looks like we Herrera isn't coming to us now. FFS

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Looks like no one is coming. If fellaini and baines war on the cards, they would be benched today. Buckle up I guess and go with what we have. Next summer will be no better because of the world cup and most players and teams will wait until after the wc to do deals.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't worry, is there any better state of intent by DM from a young right back who could never make it to the first team?

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see fellaini or Baines now

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 14:22:31
So Baines and Belgian Big Hair in the starting 11 for Everton. there goes the remaining transfer hopes.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well they are currently employed by Everton so why wouldn't they be playing?

Agree0 Disagree0

If they are going to be sold, why would Everton risk playing them and possibly losing cash because of injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because they don't want to sell them? Surely Benching them would give out the wrong impression from their point of view if they are currently negotiating? And also the fact that Moyes really pissed them off!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 14:05:23
Thought all Everton fans were starting to lose it when I saw one say on twitter, "would you take £10m + Hernandez for Fellaini, definitely" . But then sanity was restored when another Evertorian replied "Hernandez wouldn't touch us with a barge pole." Haha amazing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2013 13:50:06
So yet again Mata didn't even make it off the bench last night! Anyone know what's going on there? Maybe he is just resting him but it seems a little strange to me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2013 13:41:13
I still can not believe the amount of money Fernandinho went to city for. I think he is a £15m player at best.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Which is what a few of us said at the time while others were panicking about how we should have bought him. Not a bad player, just not a great one. Same goes for Navas.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 13:17:14
No player has ever said he doesn't want to play for Moyes but 1 thing for sure is I now doubt the negotiating skills of Woodward let alone the experience and charm to convince both club and player . , wait and see how many players we will be linked to and have bids rejected just in 48hours with his either low bidding or poor negotiating . , even Moyes isn't sure of the transfer outcome anymore because of Mr Woodward, e.g now he know Bilbao wants €36m for Hererra he will go and submit a second bid of €34m., just watch

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2013 13:30:23
As a United fan I like the fact David Silva has been poor for the last 18 months but as an all round football fan as well that enjoys watching certain players play well, it is rather confusing as he is a top player and just doesn't look the same as he did 2 years ago. It hink it may be the fact they play him wide left then comes in and I don't think it suits him at all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2013 13:30:09
Im starting to feel that we shouldn't buy now. Would just feel like desperation. No way we should be taking second best.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You wouldn't like us to buy Fellaini then?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 13:29:51
1st half. Hull midfield of Tottenham rejects has made city midfield look very very ordinary. Even though they are at their full strength.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Eventually they lost but fair play to them, should have got at least one goal.I thought Brady was very good, shame he's gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Huddlestone is going to be key for them this season, his passing is great and doesn't panic under pressure! Good he'll get regular football too! Brady did look alight but never could have made it at United.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am going to get a lot of abuse for saying this, but city were always going to be a worse team selling tevez. Despite him being a greedy scheming shister, he always gives 100% on the pitch, if you can get him on the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 12:44:17
Another bid for Herrera turned down - It seems Woodchip was in the remedial class at school as he's a very slow learner - pay the clause and get the player - as Moyes apparently consults SAF regularly then maybe Woodchip could arrange some tuition from David Gill - if he can't do the business (we'll see come Mon) then questions need to be asked

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Where did you hear of "another" bid for Herrera being turned down? I don't seem to find anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jeff Stelling mentioned that Bilbao have announced a second unsuccessful bid by Utd - didn't catch the amount though but he obviously hasn't quite got the hang of this whole transfer thing

Agree0 Disagree0

Redfaith.

Jeff Stelling just after lunch announced a second bid from united has been rejected. No details were given

Agree0 Disagree0

It's on Twitter that united won't go to €36million. Surely if you're willing to pay €30million then an extra €6million won't break the bank, will it?

Agree0 Disagree0

Son of Sir matt, I think it's probably a way of United trying to haggle the price! If so then it's bloody stupid trying to save money this late in the window. Yes we're usually a sensible club in the market and hardly ever over pay for a player but when it's right at the end of the window and we desperately need a couple of decent midfields we shouldn't be messing about. Can we blame it on Woodwood? Or is it the glazers? Starting to get on my t!ts.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 12:16:30
Dear Eds, can you please let us know if there is any truth in this supposed De Rossi bid? Have me made one or are we seriously about to do so?

Herrera is a very interesting move, took us by surprise. If he can give us what we really need, which is the ability to:
1. Receive the ball under pressure and get out of trouble with good feet.
2. Distribute the ball quickly and, importantly, positively from the centre.
3. Pick out a killer pass in the final third.
then we should pay what is necessary to close the deal. He's not the Fabregas-level signing we wanted and yet the fee seems huge, but I can imagine his potential wages would be significantly lower, so that 'saving' must be considered.

Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2013 12:43:35
So we now seem to be going for 4 players: Baines, Fellaini, De Rossi & Herrera. Surely we don't need 3 midfielders? De Rossi is apparently happy where he is so I think we will end up with Fellaini & Herrera and possibly Baines. That would be a satisfying end to the window.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Midfielders are a bit like buses, you wait for one for 5 years and then 3 come at once (I wish)

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha good reply! I still think right now we will do well to get one, nothing accepted and we need to get bids accepted, agree contracts, agree agent fees and do a medical as well as fly them over etc. So much to do, so little time! The other thing is why on earth, have we left these bids so late, surely we knew about these players a long time ago. Why wait until the last minute.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm all for sticking up for your club and for your players but Mourinhos post match interview last night was beyond cringeworthy. How can he honestly stand there and catergorically state that the best team lost, His team had 26% possession and Bayern had 41 shots! If they would have won last night it would have been even a bigger travesty than the champions league final. Then to cap it all he states that Ramires should never have been sent off when the world could see that it was a straight red let alone a second yellow. All of you out there that posted that you wanted that egotistical, attention seeking, arrogant narcissist at our club should take a long deep sigh of relief and thank whatever deity you pray too that Fergie also knew what the vast majority of us reds believed, And that was to keep "the special one" as far away from our club as possible.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes, we should be relieved that we let a charismatic, proven winner who can attract world class players slip through our grasp. A reality check togthered, Moyes hasn't proved himself to be any of those things yet.

A brief note on his "cringeworthy" post match interview. Do you not feel that is exactly how supporters of other teams felt about SAF? Can you not remember the unbearably cringeworthy comment suggesting that the Swansea player (sorry can't recall the name) "could have nearly killed RVP", just for kicking a ball at him. Good managers defend their respective clubs regardless of whether it is justified and Mourinho is without doubt a good manager. If you can't admit that you are an ignorant fool.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramirez tackle is how you break peoples leg.

I love watching Goetze and Hazzard both great players. As I said before Mourinho is a loud mouth and his honey moon period is going to end soon and the press once they turn on you are a nasty bunch.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bayern are an exceptional team and I think Jose got the tactics spot on. They played better against bayern yesterday than they did in the champions league final, and will improve and be very hard to beat. I don't think I have ever heard Jose come out and give much credit to any opposition, it's his way to make his players feel like winners instead of having lost a match. Bit like fergie in many ways.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumpelstilskin, I was at an amateur game one Sunday morning when an attacker fell over in the tackle, the defender the booted the loose ball hitting the attacker. That boy went in to a coma which he never came out of, now who is the ignorant fool?

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumplestiltskin Sir Alex earned the right to say what he wanted over 26 years of hard graft virtually raising a phoenix from the ashes single handed.Mourinho rides in on his silver steed (Only to clubs with money mind) rampages around like a bull on heat for a couple of years and rides off into the sunset when bored or as generally happens he gets sussed out for what he is. I hardly think its his sparkling personality and charisma alone that attracts all of these so called "world class players" the billions of Abramovich, Perez et al might just have a say in it. The guy on the other touchline last night is the proven winner as you put it, always classy, respectful and dignified, Unlike this tiresome arrogant eye gouging thug.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anniewithoutmakeup that is a very sad event to have had to endure, Kinda puts things into perspective.

Agree0 Disagree0

Annie, so football induced comas are the rule rather than the exception are they? Hardly ignorance, when it is a statistically improbable occurrence. Failure to acknowledge Mourinho's credentials as a manager, on the other hand, is, as it is in direct contradiction to his impressive managerial record.

Regardless, forgive me for taking your word with a pinch of salt but you have form for fabrication.

Togthered, I think you need to attenuate the rhetoric a little, "phoenix from the ashes", little dramatic don't you think?

You infer Mourinho only associates with teams with money, so how do you explain his success with Porto? It was such that made him a desirable quantity to Europe's elite clubs, the fact that he has managed to maintain that success in numerous leagues throughout Europe is testament to his ability. Guardiola, although undoubtedly a talented coach, still has to prove that he can replicate the success he enjoyed with Barcelona.

Agree0 Disagree0

His success with Porto was hardly groundbreaking when you consider the standard of opposition. And before you choke on all that hair garnered from the princess in the tower I know he won the champions league, But we all know that embarrassing jig down the touchline at OT would not have happened without the Scholesy disallowed goal and every other club since he has had massive financial backing.Iwill not dispute that he is not without merit but he has always been and will remain a classless flybynight that will run to the hils at the merest hint of adversity. Let me ask you this who would you want alongside you in the trenches Moysie or Mourinho. I rest my case.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not entirely sure what trench warfare has to do with the managerial credentials of either Mourinho or Moyes. Managers are judged on trophies won and Mourinho can't be criticized for that.

Agree0 Disagree0

The analogy references character, durability, honesty, commitment and reliability all traits sadly lacking in you Portuguese Demi-god but not methinks in mr Moyes.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Mourinho were here instead of Moyes you wouldn't be here talking about this. So, you want to have your post as the brightest one, so be it!

So not much time left and we may see new signings or we may not.Eds/posters what you guys think went wrong with our transfer policy this year. we usually do our transfers early to give them pre season and time to gel but this window has been quite opposite. There were lot of reports tht moyes may announce some signings on his first press confrence but till date we havnt been able 2 sign ny1. There were talks tht moyes first signing is important to make a statement of intent but now we are left with fellani's.I mean what do you guys think went wrong. we always expctd that it wil be a smooth transition whn saf goes and expected that new manager wil have funds to invest but our bids have been penny pinching. Do u guys think it was a mistake letting saf and david gill leave together because now we have a new manager and ceo and there may be lack of experience in dealing in transfer or tht extra effort required to get the deal done.People may say that moyes needed time to evaluate his squad but I guess he was a manager of one of our rivals and must be aware of our weakness and on top of that we seen managerial chnages in so many club but they are almost done with their transfer dealings. we may sign a few players in nxt 2 days and none of us will be moaning but this transfer window have been very unlike united so what u guys think is the reason of it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We spent too long on trying to get players who are unobtainable (Fabregas, De rossi. ) they're players who don't want to leave and are happy where they are playing, also we have under bid for almost every player we have bid for this summer bar Thiago who I think we equalled Bayerns fee but still the bids for Fabregas, Fellaini and Baines have been embarrassing

Agree0 Disagree0

In hindsight, perhaps it would have been a smoother transition if Gill would have stayed for the summer? What's done is done now though. It's all speculation from the outside but it does at least seem like Woody has had trouble closing deals. It almost comes across as though we're trying to be a bit clever, making relatively low bids then not following them up quickly to try and make the selling team sweat. We will only know how successful that strategy has been on Monday eve.

I do think from Moyes' early comments that we were trying to make 1 big signing as our 1st signing, possibly Fabregas or Ronaldo, but they never worked out for whatever reason. Since then we seem to have been playing catch up.

As you said, if we get our targets by Monday we can't moan. Finger's crossed we can pull it off at this late hour.

Agree0 Disagree0

What went wrong.Woodward!

Woody out of toy story could have done more business for us.

Fingers xd though window still open and hopefully we will bag Fellani & Herrerra.

Agree0 Disagree0

My take on it is that Moyes is not well known in european terms and no one is sure how this season will turn out. I think if we finish top 2 this season he will be able to attract top players next year.
also woodward seems to be way out of his depth when it comes to transfer dealings which hasn't helped.
All in all I think UTD have managed this whole transfer window very poorly and I think both manager and woodward need to take the blame for it.
To continuously chase fabregas when it was quite clear he wouldn't leave barca was shambolic and now we are left chasing players, if we are to believe the reports, who clubs won't let leave so late in the window and also are not top quality.
all in all tough year ahead.

Agree0 Disagree0

A combination of Moyes' dithering and Woodward's penny pinching is what went wrong.

People like to allocate all the blame to Woodward, which I feel overlooks the fact that Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all changed manager this season, yet still managed to strengthen. Apparently this was always going to be a "difficult transfer window" for Moyes, but why?! It hasn't been difficult for any other of the top teams with a change of manager. Perhaps he should have sacrificed his holiday to ensure that the transition was smooth, in reality it has been anything but.

A sensible strategy would have been to continue the pursuit of SAF's transfer targets, which, IMO would have made us favourites for the league and contenders in Europe. Instead, he decided to pursue his own, which has been going so well.

The written/typed well isn't great at conveying sarcasm, thus I shall make explicit the sarcastic nature of that last sentence.

De Rossi would be ideal in my opinion. If there are no world class CMs available for the long-term, I don't want to buy a young non-world class CM, I'd much rather spend 10-15mil on De Rossi who can cover until a top player becomes available in future transfer windows. Sly Spurts suggesting Arsenal are in for Julian Draxler for €60m.
Doh!

Was hoping Moyes would have taken a punt on investing in the cream of the young European talents incl Draxler and Kondogbia but not to be.

:(

Herrera is a promising move though given the footballing lesson he gave us 2 seasons back when Bilbao destroyed us.
Think Herrera, Fellaini and Baines would improve us for sure but that's our lot and disconcerting in the extreme we are still bidding for much needed reinforcements a full 8 weeks into the window / Moyes at the helm.

Rumours of a stellar signing coming in are just that. Rumours!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Gutted if it happens. I have raved about this guy for so long. He is genuinely a candidate for being one of the best players on the planet in a few years and was hoping we will go after him next summer

Doubt Wenger would pay that much for any player.

Crazy 48 hours ahead of us and almost forgot we have the Scousers this weekend :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see Wenger paying top dollar for any player. He's been penny pinching and bargain hunting for so long that it has become almost instinctive to him now.

Wenger and Woodward are a match made in heaven, they should get married, on the cheap.

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't he just sign a new deal? An I believe you read that wrong! It's a story in one of the papers who are saying they are in for him (who wouldn't want him) and he is 'rated' at £60m. I don't really understand the ins and outs of release clauses but I believe he has one somewhere in the region of £40m.

A great player who I would have loved to see at United. Can't see him going to Arsenal though. Worth pointing out that he is cup tied in the Champions League. Why would they spend that much on a player unable to play in the biggest money-spinning competition? {Ed007's Note - He wouldn't be cup-tied for the CL. The rules have changed:

18.07 As a rule, a player may not play in a UEFA club competition (i.e. UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, but not UEFA Super Cup) for more than one club in the course of the same season. Exceptionally, however, a player who has been fielded in the first, second, third qualifying round or the play-offs of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League is entitled to play in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League for another club as from the group stage.

I m being honest.
When transfer window started, and we were strongly linked with thiago and febregas. I wad having a long chat with my cousine.
It was time of uncertinity, we werr struggling to get any genuine deal with Barca. And Barca was related with this herrere guy to replace Febregad should he choose to leave.
So in fun, I told him why are we making this cat and mouse game? They are linked with Herrera to replace him so he definatly must be good. Then why not we go and buy him straight away! Deal will be cheap and quick than febregas.
And now when we are listening the bid is rejected and we may buy his release clause; we are simplying laughing on that LOGICAL thought at that time.

I personally haven't seen much of him and can't say if he will be a good buy or not. But I will continue with my simple logic that if barca can think of replacing febregad with him; he must be a very good talent.

Lets hope we manage to reinforce much needed midfield. As reports are flying we are negotiating for de rossi, fellaini, and herrera. Any two will give us nice options and steel.

What do you think the future holds for these players this season?

Tunnicliffe on loan at Ipswich - jan or next summer sold?
Macheda sent on loan, sold or released?
Bebe sold ASAP?
Buttner loan then sold?
Powell sent on loan to Wigan?

What is best for these promising lads?
Thorpe?
Petrucci - surely needs a loan?
Cole?
Lingard - kept for Cup appearance against Liverpool then loan?
Keane twins - loan together?
Januzaj - first team cameos from the bench or loan?

I posted some time ago whether people thought Moyes was interested in someone that the general media were not aware of. It seems to be the case as I don't recall Herrera being mentioned in discussions. I do however remember being impressed with the Bilbao team that put us out of Europe. Hope we sign the lad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We willl need to wrap this up today or it won't happen. Monday is leaving it too late to sign players from outside prem in my opinion. We've had to raise bids all summer long for our targets, having started with low bids. - We have failed to wrap up deals for Fabregas - Fellaini - Baines because of this. I think that unless we meet hererra's release clause we won't get him. We can't even negotiate with the player until we come to an agreement with the club! Hopefully things will progress quickly today. Have a funny feeling it won't though.

Agree0 Disagree0

I kind of agree the majority of transfers on the final day are within the prem but I'm pinning my hopes on the fact old Arry Redknapp managed to sign VDV from Madrid on the final day and that was 'trific' haha

I hear Spurs are to sign Christian Eriksson for £11m. He may not be a world beater but at that price he represents great value for money. Why on earth were we not interested I wonder.

Also Spurs have boxed clever making their moves before selling Bale. We are left with a few days left of the transfer window and will no douby be held to ransom.

Lets hope that DM learns from the experience.

P.s. Anyone know where Halilimovic went, if indeed he moved?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The top clubs didn't go for Eriksen because he has a Suarez type habit of running his mouth off in the press. He has openly talked about so many clubs this summer its comical. He has gone on record saying his next club will be a stepping stone to a move to one of the Spanish big two.

He is a good player but clubs just don't like to deal with such players and Spurs are taking a big risk.

Agree0 Disagree0

Erikkson has made it known he wants a move to Spain for years. No Spanish club have come in for him, he's banding himself around like a b1tch on heat. It's not why a buying club like united want to hear when investing in a player. I've seen him a few times & personally think he's massively overrated. I think he'll be found out in the premier league. He's no where near as good as Rooney or Kagawa in the hole.

Agree0 Disagree0

They already signed him and made an official announcement. I am also surprised why we did not move for him and can only assume our scouting sees something we are not seeing to pass on him.

There must be developments today I am looking forward to seeing what happens. Who do yous think we will end up with I still think there could be a suprise maybe sign someone that hasn't been linked out if the blue.
On another note doesn't it annoy you having to wait an extra day for the match.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe Turan or Banega. I think if nani is staying we would pass on Turan but Banega is maybe the surprise signing. Both very good players.

Been thinking about Spurs spending spree. Apart from what would happen if that mob pulled the plug on the Bale deal. Never going to happen I know but I would laugh my rollox off! What happens if they don't get champions league football next year? How do they keep all the stars & no doubt egos happy? IMO Arsenal still have a better side. I think the smile could be wiped off Spuds fans faces next year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They could get a loan to cover their debts for a year until they could sell Bale for a large fee.

Possibly KG. still it would be funny wouldn't it!

Perhaps people are getting a bit too hung up on specific players. Remember the Madrid galacticos who won bugger all? It's not about the names, it's about their ability to contribute to the team. We desperately need midfielders, probably one with steel and one with creativity - if they are 'top level' and will improve us then great. Clearly Rossi would improve us, as would Fellaini and for my money, so would Herrera. Did anyone think Dwight Yorke would have the impact he did when we signed him? Remember when Keane left and we signed Michael Carrick? It's not always about the stellar name

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well that kind of common sense clap trap is going to get you no where on here AJH.

Isn't there any sensational panic you want to convey this fair Sat morning!?

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH

we have been more optimistic than a lot of people on this site but there is no denying we have some glaring issues that needs to be resolved and has been lingering for some years now.

If you look at what we need to change over the next 2 to 3 years it is quite substantial and worrying given the age of some of players.

I see required replacements for the following players as we bleed in new players and bleed out the older ones with some potentially retiring even before then and don't really know with the exception of Adnan if the academy has players that are good enough.

Ferdinand, Vidic, Carrick, RVP, Rooney, Evra

It will take some serious money, willing clubs looking to sell and players wanting to come.

I can see us needing to spend close to 100 million next summer to replace and upgrade in some key positions. I know 100 million sounds a lot but when you look at the going rate for top players, that gets you about 2 or 3 players.

I posted a while back stating spurs were catching up with us with squad depth and capability I now fear us playing them after there recent influx of players. I feel that they are now stronger after selling bale and will be challenging for honours

I agree, head to head last year even without their new signings they beat us and drew the return leg.

Each Everton fan on here is a massive hypocrite! This time last year moyes was a god send in you lots eyes now because he has joined the biggest club in the world he's a poor manager and I don't know what it is but you seem to think you are better than us! Everton will really struggle without moyes and everyone knows it. You lot will be lucky to finish top 10, you have a very overrated manger! I saw someone say he had 'the balls to have a go with limited or no resources' that made me laugh I must say, if he was a 'great' manager he would have adapted his tactics which very rarely worked to save the side from relegation. Just because Moyes has stepped up to the best club in the world you try to take away the superb job he did! Every Everton fan I know personally have all said that he was an amazing manager and who knows where Everton would be now? Probably in the championship! But sure come on here say what you want about players not wanting to play for him, when quite clearly your two best players do. But to say he isn't up to the job is pathetic so far so good in my eyes, maybe not signed anyone but we are Manchester United winning is in our blood and every player from the under 18's up had the winning mentality and it shows with our continued success.

Good post Caolon fully agree

Agree0 Disagree0

Excellent post Caolan. Smacks of desperation & bitterness. They know Fellaini is leaving & they feel the need to hit out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes did a very good job at Everton. Their fans are not happy that he knew he would become United manager long back and didn't make it public. I mean its common sense really that if he had gone public with that it would have wrecked Everton's remaining season. The leak about Sir Alex's retirement to the media was what made it a bit of a mess. Moyes has actually been very respectful through all of this.

As for Fellaini and Baines its clear they are overvaluing them and that is what is holding the deal up. I mean Everton fans come here riding on their high morality horses yet fail to understand that Everton have never declared them "Not For Sale" like United did with Rooney and as long as that is the case they will be open to bids.

Well said Caolan. Moyes can't attract players they say yet the whole Everton squad was bought by him and two of their star men are desperate to join him at the biggest club in the world. I don't see the Wigan manager crying and whinging about Everton's obvious interest in McCarthy and how Martinez took Kone with him.

Agree0 Disagree0

So far, so good?! I beg to differ.

At best it is too early to form an opinion. But if one would be so inclined as to attempt to form such, I suggest the review would be less than favourable, largely due to ineptitude in the transfer market. I would also suggest that our pre-season form was a little embarrassing, the 1-4 win at Swansea flatters what was an unconvincing performance for large parts of the game and the goalless draw with Chelsea speaks for itself, as well as being the first goalless draw at Old Trafford since 2009.

Here's hoping these aren't indicative of things to come.

So it looks like Baines, Fellaini (farewell game 2moro), and Herrera. Knew little about apart from a youtube clip I checked last summer when linked with Herrera, but after some intense research, I feel he is a very good option for us. Extremely disciplined, quick to close down central play. And direct with his attacking. No nonsense style done to a high standard, and classed as a 'Spanish Steven Gerrard'.
I don't know about you guys, but I'd be extremely happy with these additions (unforeseeable events aside).
On top of Rooney staying, Hernandez back in training. Kagawa raring to go and even Nani's return. WE ARE UNITED!
Don't write us off, we are A LOT better than our critics suggest and WILL retain our crown!

I must say I am disgusted with John Terry. He has the nerve to call himself the captain of his club then hides away when the decisive penalty needs to be taken.

Now I never played football at a high level, but at the level I did I was lucky enough to be made captain by my fellow team mates and coach. I wore that band as the honour it is ment to be, and I excepted the responsibilty it came with.

That ment I lead from the front and set the example, that also ment putting myself out there and taking the pressure at key times. I was involved in five penalty shoot outs as captain, and as captain I always took the pressure penalty. The one if missed then we lost rather than the one needed to win it. Because that is the hardest penalty to take and it was unfair to place that burden on someone elses shoulders.

Terry should have taken charge and take Chelseas last penalty instead of taking the cowards way out and letting a young man trying to make his way into the team take it.

Lukaku was devestated when he missed, and where was his captain ti console him? He was wollowing in his own self pity, reflecting on the reality that he won't be the centre of attention again when he lifts a trophy for his team. David Luiz has my respect tonight for being the first at Lukakus side, he played and reacted like a true leader. Maybe mr Terry should take note. {Ed007's Note - I had always scored enough goals to stop my teams needing penalty shoot-outs to win things...just saying ;-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree, your captain must lead from the front! Look at keano, never left a thing on the pitch! The passion, the commitment! Will never forget him standing up to Viera in the tunnel at Highbury! Would Terry do that? I doubt it!

Agree0 Disagree0

I only ever missed one pen as a kid and I was pen taker for years just saying. John terry and penalties brings up a happy memory from that night In Moscow and may he miss many more penalties but not for england.

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on lads this is Braveheart ye are talking about didn't he once play with cracked/broken ribs for England citing his big heart pushing out against the ribs as the reason he could play.

I seem to remember he slipped once too oops

Agree0 Disagree0

At least this time in a final he had a real reason to wear full kit.the bloke is a complete and utter cnut

Agree0 Disagree0

Am no Terry fan but to say as captain he must hit a penalty is ridiculous. U would never see nor want Vidic hitting one.

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree Shappy. I hate Terry with a passion. He's a first class bell. However he's never been known as a penalty taker & would almost certainly be last on the list to take one. It's the same as saying you'd have Vidic take a pen for us, he's under no obligation to step up when other people are much better choices to take a pen. As much as I hate him you can't deny Terry wears the chelsea shirt with pride & gives his all. As he did with England. I hammer him at games because he's knob as I said but he's no bottler.
