With all the rumors about Clyne circling up and even as high fees as 40m cropping up I am very well hoping we don't sign him.
One good season doesn't make you a good player and for that amount of money the only RB that we should buy is Philip lahm. But he is not gettable so we would have to settle elsewhere.
The two players I would like us to sign is either of Dani carvajal or Coleman. Would prefer Coleman. He has been absolutely massive for Everton for so many seasons and is the kind of Full Back that bombs forward and I feel his crossing is good too. He may be a bit suspect defensively but I think it could be ironed out under LVG.
The fact that Coleman can also play as an out and out winger also is a bonus IMO.
And I do hope we keep Rafael, the guy hasn't had a proper chance to prove himself under LVG and I hope he is given more game.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed004's Note - Coleman would be my first choice because I think he would be more likely to sign however Carvajal is a fantastic player}

03 Apr 2015 21:04:04
Carvajal is a fantastic player but I don't think we would be able to sign him. Madrid would let him warm the bench whenever they get Danilo. So much for their homegrown players.

Hi Ed 004

does that mean you think all the recent reports about Firmino signing for us is rubbish.Personally I hope we sign both of them

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - I don't think there is much in the reports about Firmino}

04 Apr 2015 12:38:19
Clyne isn't worth more than 18m tops. If Southampton want more than that then I'd look to one of Van Der Wiel, Darmian or Arias. All solid defensively and good going forward. They would be cheaper and possibly better options.

Don't watch a lot of French football but isn't Van Der Weil guff?

Fabian schar from basle is an excellent right back. He tore liverpool apart during their earlier encounter this season.

I agree, he can also play CB.

Not hard to tear Moreno a new one though, is it? My nan could dribble past him with a zimmer frame.

ED with Firmino and Depay strongly linked to us and it looks like we should be able to sign both of them in the summer who will make way for them?

Valencia have tons of money to spend as well as CL football(currently 3rd in La Liga) so do you think despite his brilliant form this season Mata could be sold in summer?

I admit this is just speculation on my part and I am a big fan of Mata but if we do sign Firmino and Depay as reported that doesn't really leave any place for Mata.

Ed what do you think?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed004's Note - I would only sign one and keep Mata. Depay seems more likely so probably him.}

03 Apr 2015 21:10:44
I hope he isn't the one to go. Mata apart from missing 3-4 chances in front of goal hasn't been bad at all. If you look at the stats: He had 18 goals in 82 apps for Chelsea. He has 12 in 40 for us. So his goals to game ratio has improved.
On another note, he's a true gentlemen and the kind of player I'd love to have in the team.
He is the player I'd have 1-on-1 on goal and he is an brilliant finisher. Playing more often would most certainly boost his confidence and he is a player who would 10-15 goals each season if given a proper chance.
He still has a lot to prove and I don't think he'd go to Valencia.

Hi Guys.

If, as LvG says Fellaini is undroppable then surely are Mata, Hererra and Young who have al done well recently I agree Wiggy has done well but I'd hardly say he is undroppable. The only player who is a shoe in every game is David de Gea who IMO is our player of the season by a million miles.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

03 Apr 2015 19:08:50
Fellaini has been one of our most important players this season, he has also pitched in with a few goals.

Credit to him and he would be one of my first names on the team sheet

03 Apr 2015 19:48:49
Most improved player this year

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Apr 2015 22:35:45
Still same player as last year only difference is injuries. The fickle bunch who were so anti moyes were blinded by the fact that Moyes signed him and talked nonsense and he became the soft target for our failures last year.

the difference is he is healthy this year and was injured most of last year. He tortured us for a few years with Everton and now doing on our behalf to other teams.

Agree3 Disagree2

05 Apr 2015 00:48:45
The difference between the Fellaini of last year and the Fellaini of this year is simply that he is being played to his strengths, which as far as I remember he never was last season, and therefore he is doing an important job for the team. You also can't not be impressed by the way he didn't let his head drop and fought for his place on the pitch. Which is paying dividends both for him, and for the club.

Im all for talent in the side, we are MUFC ffs! But someone has 'eventually' got to replace carrick? Alittle backtracking has found a guy by the name of julien de sart? Only 19? Now this guy amongst reports is a talented cool customer? Ideal replacement! Cheers!

Or maybe a more experienced player rather than someone whos barely outta college

Backtracking? You've just thrown another random name out there, what do you know about him, how many times have you seen him play, I'll be honest I've never heard of him.

I'd love to see Pjanic in our team to replace Carrick.
Although I am not so sure how good hr is defensively.
Maybe we'd pair him with William carvalho or De Jong :P

Glad the PL league is back after the intl break. I hope we don't underestimate Villa. They have players who on their day, can hurt us. I hope we go out and play from the first whistle like we have done against spurs and Liverpool. Any complacency will lead to disaster.
I'm not sure what result will suit us best in the arsenal v scouser match. If scousers lose and we win, then that will leave an 8 point gap. But if scousers draw and we win, then we're in third spot. Difficult decision!!
But whatever happens, we've got to do the business and get the win against Villa.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

03 Apr 2015 12:21:35
NoMid I think we should hope for an Arsenal win vs Liverpool because we need to safeguard our 4th spot first.

We have a game against Arsenal at OT where were can look to get 3 points.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Apr 2015 13:17:30
I disagree MB. When did we settle to safeguard? We are Man Utd, the most successful club in England we should always be aiming to finish as high as possible!

03 Apr 2015 13:41:41
Guys stop looking backwards, look up, we are only 2 points behind City. Ok barring implosion Chelski are gone but hey I'd love second this year.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Apr 2015 14:58:05
JMB you do realize that United aren't playing in the Arsenal vs Liverpool game right?

Agree4 Disagree1

03 Apr 2015 15:38:11
Any result in the arsenal v liverpool game suits us one way or another so just going to watch it for what it is, should be a decent game. I'll never want liverpool to win a football match and I would like to see us 8 points clear of 5th by the end of the weekend, something the 'realists' on here would have thought was impossible 3 weeks ago, but also getting above arsenal would be good too, although like someone said we have arsenal at home where we can go try and go above them if need be. So yea, I'm on the fence, should be a good day tomorrow as long as we win.

Agree3 Disagree1

03 Apr 2015 18:13:34
I think a draw between arsenal and Liverpool and a win for us will be great.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Apr 2015 21:20:44
Arsenal win is the result we need tomorrow without doubt! It's imperative we get top 4. I have a feeling De Gea staying will be decided upon it not to mention Incoming transfers this summer. Worry about 3rd or 4th after an 8 point gap has been opened up.

Agree1 Disagree1

03 Apr 2015 22:39:06
Prefer an Arsenal win. It will cement the top 4 and then our destiny is in our own hands with games against City and Arsenal in terms of where we end up in the top 4.

Agree1 Disagree1

03 Apr 2015 23:20:52
I'd rather we leapfrogged Arsenal which would leave us breathing down the necks of City in the lead up to that fixture. I wouldn't have settled for 4th at the start of the season and I'm not settling for it now.

Agree3 Disagree5

03 Apr 2015 23:51:20
JMB, supposing we leapfrog arsenal tomorrow, but have bad results against them , City and Chelsea, and Liverpool pip us to 4th by a point. Would you then be glad that we didn't open up an 8 point lead over them?? At this stage of the season where we are at, all that's important is getting that CL spot! 3rd or 4th makes no difference. We can't win the league, so making our chances of finishing in CL spot had to be the main priority and the best chance of that happening is a Liverpool loss tomorrow. Simple as that

Agree2 Disagree2

04 Apr 2015 02:38:43
Then stand- United that would be our own fault and we would only have ourselves to blame. When did we become so reliable on other teams results? WOW.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Apr 2015 02:41:51
Stand united that is a shocking comment

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Apr 2015 19:51:57
Wanting a Liverpool loss to increase an 8 point gap over them is a shocking comment? Have a word with yourself JMB. The man who invented the shocking comment! I've spent all season reading your moaning negative comments day to day

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Apr 2015 19:53:09
And if that's the case why do you want a draw? Surely you would want a Liverpool win? If other teams results don't matter. Contradiction at it's best

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Apr 2015 23:32:51
Where did I say I wanted a draw? I'd rather finish second than 4th that is all. Settle down bro.

Anyone noticed Calum gribbin he looks a real talent plays for the under 18s and has a look of messi I know that's a big thing to say but check him out

Believable1 Unbelievable0

03 Apr 2015 10:58:05
There was a big article about him two weeks ago which likened him to Messi. He does look a talent but has a long way to go to get to messi standard!!

Agree0 Disagree2

03 Apr 2015 17:57:39
I have watched him playing for the under18s a couple times looks very talented not just on video, I can imagine people saying messi was the new maradona and others saying too young to tell and he didn't turn out to bad did he

03 Apr 2015 23:22:04
Looks a bit light weight to me phil. Technical ability seems to be there so hopefully he can make something of himself.

03 Apr 2015 08:37:17
Firminio plays as a CAM. But where would fit in our side if he plays there?
We have Mata and Rooney who could play there and is he comforatable on the wings. Does he have pace, I heard he's a good dribbler.
Hazard too transitioned fr CAM at Lille to LW at Chelsea, could he do that?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Apr 2015 09:42:58
As far as I'm aware, he can also play either wing. Hopefully we have CL next season so we will need a good squad. Any good side needs top players beyond a so called starting 11.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Apr 2015 09:51:21
He doesn't have pace but he's not slow either, he can play anywhere in an attacking 3 of a 4-2-3-1 and even as a false 9 striker, he's good but I don't think we need him.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Apr 2015 11:10:50
He is a very consistent performer but he holds on to the ball too much (he is a good dribbler) which would not be beneficial to LVG's set up and our three second rule on the ball. Also our track record with Brazilians is far from remarkable. I wouldn't mind if we got him but I'd personally like to see us pursue other targets first.

PS. Supasub you are correct mate. Mourinho always said the magic number for first team players should be 22 with 3-4 fringe players on top.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Apr 2015 11:48:11
Douglas Costa would probably be a better option as a winger, more pace.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Apr 2015 13:18:24

If we do sign depay I feel we are well stocked with the winger department. We would then have depay, Nani, Valencia, young and Januzaj and di Maria. Seems decent enough.
