With apologies to Monty Python

Fan 1. Since he took over, what has Ole ever done for us?
Fan 2. Well he’s gained more points than anyone else.
Fan 1. Granted, granted but apart from gaining more points than anyone new else, what has Ole ever done for us?
Fan 2. We’ve scored more goals than anyone else.
Fan 1. Well yes, I’ll concede that, but apart from gaining more points and scoring more goals than anyone else, what has Ole ever done for us?
Fan 2. We’ve created more chances and had more shots than anyone else.
Fan 1. Ok, I’ll give you that, but apart from gaining more points, scoring more goals, creating more chances, and having more shots than anyone else, what has Ole ever done for us?
Fan 2. We’ve conceded less goals than anyone else too.
Fan 1. Right, but apart from gaining more points, scoring more goals, creating more chances, having more shots, and conceding fewer goals than anyone else, what has Ole ever done for us?
Fan 2. He’s completely changed the mood and style of play.
Fan1. Now you’re clutching at straws mate

You can decide who Fan 1 and Fan 2 might be.

Both Chelsea and city have recently lost away and they drew against the all mighty Liverpool.

It might not have been an all out attacking display but that was 3 well earnt points.

Grafting and going till the final whistle.

A few months ago that would have been a loss.

Was I watching the game thinking oh no we are going to concede here at some point. not in the slightest.

Another clean sheet away from home. 5 wins in a row away and another game which is building the confidence.

We are 2 points off the top 4. b4 Christmas when we got embarrassed by Liverpool we needed a miracle to get into the top 4. now we have a chance.

Let's not resort to a few months ago this page was full of so much negativity up untill now.

Let's enjoy the next month because it's going to be a tough lot of games something we can go into confident of knowing we can score goals against anyone.

Surprised how good Leister were to be honest, them seemed to create lots of time on the ball around our 18 yard box, maybe it was our tactics to sit that deep, but l was on my feet panicking every time they attacked in the last 20mins. Thought Matic was immense today but it always looked like they had an extra man in midfield. We looked very tired in the last 15mins. But great 3 points, we do need players in the Summer but there's no doubting the team spirit and work culture now its back. A solid CB and defensive midfielder (cover for Matic) in the Sumner, maybe an attacking RB and maybe a Manager.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - they are a good side redcon, dont forget the went away to liverpool midweek and deservedly drew mate..

03 Feb 2019 20:26:39
Funny because the Leicester fans want the manager out for poor tactics. Baffles me because they probably would end up bottom half if he leaves like Soton.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 23:21:43
I think tielemans and ndidi could be a nice midfield pairing. Mendy was their weakest point for me today and was very lucky to stay in the pitch.

Agree4 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 06:07:06
In the final 10 mins, most of our players ran out of juice.
But, players will adapt to this playing style step by step.
In the next season, the players will have better endurance and if Ole gets the permanent job, he would target suitable midfields suiting our play style so that we can rotate our first choice midfielders.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 09:50:27
Redcon, they beat city and drew with lpool, so i won't take our win for granted.

FZZ i think the fans are unhappy with their performances against '2nd half of the table' teams.

TRD, you echoed my thoughts exactly. We went from one of the least mobile teams to a very active one that covers the pitch well. This kind of endurance and ability is not built over night. It will take time. Puel knowing this brought on Ghezzal and Okazaki at the right time. And the former made quite an impact.

What was evident again was the need for a strong, vocal, aerially dominating CB who can command our back 4.

Can we beat fulham whist giving matic pogba herrera and rashford a rest?
Lukaku mata dalot mctom fred smalling jones darmian may well all start v fulham. Its a tough call but not the toughest of teams so maybe worth the risk.
Our midfield 3 really do need to be at their best v psg.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

03 Feb 2019 19:13:02
I’ve been thinking the same thing ken. Chelsea are at City next weekend so if we beat Fulham we will likely be 4th. One option is to go for the jugular in the first half and then take 3 off early. He rested a few against Burnley and we looked slow and cumbersome.

Martial has missed a game and a half so he could start, Lukaku has a point not to prove but it’s thenmidfield that looks very very light. I think Herrera looks ok but Matic and Pogba could do with a rest, not sure who we play though. Fulham are up, and down, mostly down so hop fully we can take control early and give ourselves options.

I’d give a Matic a few days r&r to recharge this week.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 22:37:59
No we can not beat fulham without those four players mentioned.

Pereira, fred and mctominay are not good enough to fit into midfield together, they struggled against reading. You could maybe play one of them but even then with pereira against burnley we still struggled.

Just play our best team in every game i say, with the odd rotation, dalot in for young, smalling/ jones in for bailly, sanchez/ lukaku/ mata in for lingard.

Ddg, shaw, lindelof, matic, herrera, pogba, martial and rashford need to play every game in this tough months coming up.

Agree3 Disagree2

03 Feb 2019 23:31:23
Dsg, we have to find a way to rest this guys, even if only for second halves, or one at a time. Matic is already looking slow, Pogba's impact is sporadic.

If you burn out your players then you won't get top 4. There's a reason why teams with big squads finish higher in the league than others.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 06:13:56
The current squad do not have an able backup for Matic. His physicality cannot be matched by Andreas or Fred and Mctominay does not really have that calming presence.
Yesterday Matic's pinpoint through ball to Lingard (which he fluffed) was incredible.
Jones maybe :) ? He is physical and can cover a lot of ground. But he too may not bring that calming assurance at the back.

Or you'd think this was a Jose team and a Jose performance. Put your hand on your heart and say that tou would have praised it had it been Jose on the manager's seat. The answer is a resounding NO. He and the team would have been slated. that's all i am asking for. Honesty.

Three points, clean sheet and move in. Good Leicester side. Well done lads.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 17:53:01
This sort of performance was the norm under José. It's the exception, now. That's the difference. Oh, that and actually going on to win these games where we only have a 1-0 lead. He's gone. And he's not coming back. You really need to get over it, Shan.

Agree6 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 17:54:29
Shan, it isn’t a José team. Jose is the past, he’s not managing the club any more, why do you always bring him up?

Ugly win today, some poor performances, but we won ugly 1-0 games more times than we’d like to admit under SAF.

We’re moving up the league and have some huge fixtures to look forward to, rather than dread. Plenty to be positive about.

Agree6 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 17:55:18
Shan,

Rashford, Pogba, Bailly and Lindelof, Shaw, Martail when he came on.

A win is a win especially away. Up to 5th so heading in the right direction.

Tell me what you thought was so bad about today’s 5th consecutive away win?

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 18:02:43
Shan, the performance wasn't great. But it wasn't negative backs against the wall expecting Leicester to beat us unless we park the bus. The team tried to win, they attempted to play attacking football. It didn't work out, we were poor in the final third and the key passes were going astray. But there was an intent to try and win the game. That was what was lacking under Mourinho and why everyone slated him every week. He didn't even try and attack, he expected the team to defend for their lives and hoped we would catch them with a break away goal or a set piece. It was awful to watch and hardly ever worked towards the end.

That's the honest truth.

Agree7 Disagree1

03 Feb 2019 18:07:16
Totally ignoring how Leicester are still a good team that can cause anyone problems.

We played well for the first quarter of the match. I think our openness gave Leicester a chance on the break and our players got nervous of what could happen at the back.

Matic looks knackered. Pogba drifts in and out of games, but is now contributing to goals every game. Sanchez's end product is hopeless, it was worth giving him a run if he has been training well, but AM now has to be first choice.

We can't play to the end of the season with these 3 in midfield. Who comes in? Fred has to play and step up, mctom is an obvious to give matic a rest. Can Ole give some first teamers a rest without losing games?

Bottom line today is that we scored when we were well on top, and dug in and showed good spirit when Leicester turned the screws. I'm happy to see Ole win these tough matches as much as I am to see his team walk through the easy games.

First game of a tough Feb is a win. Well done boys!

Agree7 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 18:25:07
10 games unbeaten, 9 wins, 1 draw.

At home, Leicester have beaten city and drew with Liverpool last time out.

Honestly Shan, you're just looking for something to moan about. We are flying, it is great to see.

Some people are never happy.

Agree7 Disagree1

03 Feb 2019 18:35:52
The overall performance was terrible today. But guess what we won at a tough ground as recent results for teams around us show. Defensively we look much better though. Seriously can't believe how people moan though 9 wins out of 10, football is so much better than it was just 6 weeks ago. Cheer up people we're on the up top 6 looked doubtful a few weeks back now we're 5th and we look better than both arsenal and Chelsea.

Agree5 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 19:14:48
It’s been an odd week with some odd results. City losing, Liverpool drawing, Chelsea getting thrashed, Spurs sneaking a couple of wins very late. Sometimes you get a spell where everything gets a bit weird.

Agree6 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 06:18:14
The players played with lot of heart and desire unlike the way they played for Jose.
Next season, there would be better understanding of the playing style. Moreover, there will be better cohesion between the players.
Pogba spotting Rashford's run often is an example. As LVG used to say : "It is a process" :)

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 09:37:52
The result was better than the performance, but right now Ole is giving the whole club a lift. IMO we were outplayed again for most of the game and as another 5 minutes against Burnley may have given us the 3 points, another 5 minutes against Leicester may have seen us drop 2. Swings and roundabouts. On we go.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 13:25:57
Shan you're enough to make an onion cry.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 16:27:39
Rashford misses a sitter and then scores a great goal, he’s still patchy but I think he can nail that position down for years to come. There’s a view that he misses too many chances so I had a quick look at the top scorers on the Beeb’s website. It shows how many goals the top scores have but is also shows you the percentage of shots on target, and it makes interesting reading. Rashford manages to get 68% of his shots on target, which is more than Kane (63%), Aguero (47%), Aubameyang (54%), and just about higher than Salah (67%) . Hazard is top with 77% followed by Stirling on 76%, which I’m sure will surprise some

Only Giggs made 100 appearances at a younger age, he’s a special talent who we need to nurture and develop.

Believable14 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2019 16:38:13
And, just read further down the list, Lukaku is at 78% and Martial at 76%, so basically if we can create chances then we usually score. It kind of reinforces the issue that we need a little more creativity to give our productive forwards more chances,

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 16:47:00
AJH he’s definitely the way forward. I’d love to see him spending as much time as possible with the baby faced assassin. Rash has the potential to go on to be a United great.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 16:53:07
Tony, that's a nice stat. However, is there a further drill down of that stat as to how many of those 68% go in the back of the net? That would be interesting. Shots on target mean for nought unless they go in. Rashford gets too many straight in the goal keeper hands or mirubbishs them for my liking.

Agree1 Disagree5

03 Feb 2019 16:59:46
I think the header was more of a Rom sitter than a rashford sitter. The goal was what Rash is all about. He's ready and just needs to play. He has loads to work on, but that should be exciting, not worrying.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 17:13:32
Shan i'm not sure why you are not happy.
8 wins in 9 games is not shabby in fact its better than any other team has achieved in the last 9 games.
We won't play flee flowing possesion football and control games more often than not. Even in games like today and v burnley where we have lots of possession we look scrappy because we don't have the right balance to our team and squad.
We need better players in a few positions but until then ole has found a winning formula.
As basil fawlty said 'dont look out a Torquay hotel window and be disapointed with the view of Torquay ' don't expect to see the hanging gardens of Babylon.
When you watch this current united squad don't expect to see error free football. But at least they are trying now and looking to attack.
Rashford is our top scorer and is doing fine imo.

Agree5 Disagree1

03 Feb 2019 17:33:26
Ken, i am happy. don't get me wrong. I am happy with the result. I am a results oriented person. But i am failing to see what everyone is seeing with respect to performances. Aftee the first 3 games and first half vs spurs, rest have been the same for what our previous manager was sacked.

Agree2 Disagree4

03 Feb 2019 17:42:20
Of course we have we have the same bunch of bang average players in many positions.
It wasnt joses fault the football they played was crap. It was his fault that they were not trying their best and were all miserable confused and lethargic
But ole has them winning. Sure they might come u stuck on occasions and their technical ability is limited but they are trying.
The substitutions are now largely attacking and the mindset is better.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 18:28:43
Shan still caught up on 'rashford is crap'.

I'm a results orientated person but 9 wins are not enough.

Jose got sacked because he was miserable and played terrible football. It's only acceptable when the team are winning and we weren't doing that. So rubbish football plus bad results = sacking.

Ole, so far has us creating more, scoring more, conceding less and winning games. You okay Shan?

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 19:37:42
Better than most i believe. I still have my head in the right place. I think i need a bit of a time off from this place. See you guys. i will be back when i find the same definition of entertainment as you all.

As to why i don't like what i am seeing is more probably by what i see at the top of the table rather than where we are or what we are doing. Its just that effect to know that it just might be their year.

Agree0 Disagree4

03 Feb 2019 19:51:02
Stat's before the game today.

During Solskjaer’s tenure, no side has won more points (19), scored more Premier League goals (19), had more shots (121), created more chances (87) or conceded fewer goals (6) than Manchester United.

You must lead a very demanding life shan if you haven't found entertainment in that.

Agree4 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 06:28:36
Jose in his 2 and a half year tenure never had a clear playing style.
The starting 11 and back 4 were changing frequently.

On the other hand, Ole has shown glimpses of his vision in such a short span. The team is playing higher up the pitch, there is more intensity, better width from the fullbacks etc, .
He has the players on his side as well. They seem to give everything on the pitch.

The Burnley game showed that our strongest team contains De Gea, Lubdelof, Shaw, Matic, Herrera, Pobga, Lingard, Martial and Rashford.

Which leave right back and centre back up for grabs. Dalot has a lot of potential but we need an experienced head in there. Centre back well the options aren't great. Jones is either injured or makes a bad mistake whenever he plays. Rojo is the same. Smalling would be a good 3rd/ 4th choice as cover an rotation. Bailly is a bit rash but again is good 3rd/ 4th choice but i'd move one of those two on to make room for Tuanzebe.

Midfield we lack options. Fred at best is still settling and may cone good next season. McTominay needs a loan for regular minutes. Garner may step up. We need a long term successor to matic.

Upfront things are better. Sanchez and Lukaku offer good cover. I would think about moving them on and bringing in Greenwood and Chong.

Ww don't need a lot but we do need to end the uncertainty over who will be manager and we need the DoF sorting. But its United so i'd expect it to drag on.

D sell both Lukaku and Sanchez. I don’t see where Lukaku fits in and he won’t be happy not being fist choice. As for Sanchez, he may be chomping at the bit but he’s ineffective for but us and has been since we bought him. When he was subbed today Martial did mor win his first 5 minutes on the pitch than Sanchez had done all game.

We’d get good money and free up big wages, promote a couple of youngsters and buy a top CB, a top CM (I think we are light) and possibly a FB.
