First off well done reserves good performance and result.

Now why are so many on here now putting Rodwell's name back in the hat for buying?

Christ we are trying to improve the team we dont need him. If we are looking at that type of player then Vidal should of been bought, simple as!

Rodwell is a decent player nd the only thing he has over our CM's is he is younger.

We should be only aiming at Martinez, M'Vila, Sissoko none of whom have as many injury problems and these guys would actually improve our team.

I think the only player we should get from Everton is Baines. Good age, prem proven, hits a good set piece, would not cause a problem for the youngsters and he can defend!.

Also Red Man I agree with you that there is no excuse as to why there as been no CM signing for 6 transfer windows. Especially last summer.

Just read something interesting. After The Munich Disaster, stand in manager Jimmy Murphy wanted to sign Puskas but wasn't allowed but because of FA rules regarding foreigners and Puskás' not knowing the English language. He would have been a signing an a half!

So we are told the money in the bank is to fund major transfers whilst at the same time we have shown an excellent and "glorious" failure to spend it. These terribly greedy but top level players just dont sign for us.

So why are we not asking for Gill's resignation? Surely he has been consistently unable to complete the transfers for absolutely key areas of the team identified by our unbelievable manager who cannot make a mistake.

Sydney tells us the money is there so why has David Gill been so poor at negotiating the major deals expected of a big club?

alot of talk that we need to sort out our midfield, and rightly so. in a way i think it goes against rooney that he can play in most postions and be just as good if not better than what we have already. rooney needs to play up front and do what he does best and score goals. so options, in january lets be honest they are few and far between. personally i would put a crafty bid in for rodwell. under SAF i think he could develop into a decent midfielder. over the last few years i have defended Anderson, however i have to finally admit i dont think he will ever make the grade. carrick although steady isnt world class and fletcher has a job but would he get in any other top side? no. if we could get rodwell i would also start giving more opertunties to morrison and pogba along with cleverly. next summer i would go all out to land modric no matter how much it takes. if you look at how david silva plays for sh1ty modric could easily do that job for us.

We probably need another left back as well. I would get Jordi Alba. My perfect three signings would be Gotze, Martinez and Alba.
The thing is, the centre should have been sorted long at the go but I feel we haven't bought the right player at the right time and before the glazers took over we would have bought.
2010, Silva was available and Ozil was available. 2011, Nasri was available, Pastore was available, Mata was available and Sanchez was available. 2012, Martinez, Gotze, Cavani, Lavezzi, Jovetic, and Hamsik are potentially available. Could we nab one or two, I hope so. Gilly

Thought i'd come up with a nice positive comment for a change instead of all this doom and gloom.
Well done to Fergie on 25 successful years, we owe so much to that man yet people still slag him off on here.
I remember those sad days back in the 80's before Fergie when the red and blue scousers were winning everything and even the likes of Villa, Forest and Ipswich were better than us.
People need to have longer memories and just think where we were before SAF.
Before you slag off the likes of Berba remember that SAF inherited the likes of Terry Gibson, Peter Davenport.
I know I have criticised our players in the past and with good reason but I think we need to pull together and help the team chase down the blue idiots from down the road.

Barca, Real, City and Chelsea. They all have a world class creative mid. Iniesta, Ozil, Silva and Mata. Also they all play three across the centre. We play just two.
We lost against City because we played two against their three. They walked through our midfield. We stood no chance.
For me we need to play three across the centre. Cleverley, Fletcher and another. Preferably a defensive mid.
I'd get Javi Martinez and I'd sell Gibson, Anderson, and Carrick and I'd promote Pogba abd Morrison. We'd need another centre mid as well. Gotze would be great. I'd sell Berba too.

Hey all,
I know it's November and all, but I think that we could spend 30 million combined on Khedira and Kagawa to fix our midfield problem. Both players wouldn't be over the top expensive and i believe would fit our team well

------------Khedira---------

Seriously guys,

What's going on with most of you........

I read the site everyday but do not post too often. I just wanted to say I remember at the start (first couple of months) of last season, lots of our fans and common posters on this site (you know who you are) talking about how we are not good enough and people like Smalling was a complete waste of money etc etc etc. It is easy to get frustrated from time to time especially on the back of a bad result. But Sir Alex, has the bigger picture in mind. He has too plan games in front. We really have no idea about players mental / physical state or sharpness, we just second guess the gaffer and if he gets it right he's a genius, if he doesn't he's a moron. I used to be like that years ago. I accept we have issues in midfield, I have been saying it for years and I really think we could have done with Sneijder in the mix, maybe along with a martinez. I get it. But it didn't happen. Yes it makes it harder for us, but that is something we can deal with. I am stunned with how over the top some of the reactions to our players abilities. Yes we can improve in areas, especially in midfield. But if we don't we will still be competitive. Leave the over the top criticism and garbage to the "haters" who we all know do it out of jealously. Also, please do not get carried away with the start that City have made. It means nothing to me. There is no way they will walk the title, we would never let that happen. Coupled with the fact we have made three out of the last four champions league finals. Come on guys chin up, we are about not giving up, fighting till the very end, determined, tenancious, winners. These are qualities that can only be bread into a club not simply purchased. Your entitled to your opinions, of course you are but it always gets too me when people talk a lot of negative stuff about players, staff and our club only to be jumping up and down when we win saying "I knew it all along", "I never lost faith". If it was me I would feel really fake. You should never lose faith, you should never worry about the money other teams are spending. Focus on us. We are the best for a reason. We are......... after watching every game this season, and only enjoying 1 or 2 i think it's time we clear out some of the dead wood and bring in a few new faces, 2 cm, lb, rb, st

evra isn't getting any younger, and his performances have been sh1t, hernandez is good but isn't versatile enough and we all know about the cm position, maybe also bring in an experienced cb.

cb: subotic/thiago silva
lb- alba
cm - martinez and modric
st- higuian/benzema/RVP(if he doesn't sign a new contract)

sell: gibson, diouff, macheda, evans, kzusack(?), berbatov(maybe part of the modric/martinez deal)

______de gea______

______martinez_____

rooney could have the free role which messi and ronaldo have for barca and real. or maybe a 442 with rooney and higuian up top with nani, young on the wings and martize and modric/cleverley in CM

Man Utd net spend under Glazer from May 2005 £56 million approx.

Man Utd net spend in the previous transfer window pre Glazers amounting to the same time & transfer windows £125 million approx.

Now taking into consideration that obviously, like everything the price of everything goes up including players. Does Sydneys arguement that the Glazers have done right by your club ring true?

May I remind you of all the players that you have all complained about as not good enough. Evans, Park, Evra, Rio, Anderson etc etc.

Is Sydney playing on a different pitch from the rest of you guys or do you actually believe his stance?

Okay so I've defended Anderson so much this season, and now i'm starting to lose patience with him. He's really getting on my nerves - he's sloppy, miss places passes, can't defend, is lazy and has a rubbish shot on him. He shouldn't be playing for the biggest club in the country, (he'd walk into the liverpool side mind). Wholesale changes will need to be made i think, and to be honest i hope they are made.

Get rid of Kusczak, Gibson, Evra, Evans, Berbatov, Owen, Diouf, Drinkwater, James, King, and Giggs (retire).

They haven't and won't perform - most of them have had there chance, and if by now they haven't then they aren't good enough.

Fabio last night was excellent for me - much better than Evra has been this season and even the last one. I hope he stays fit so he can hold down the spot permanently - but another left back might be needed as cover and competition. Having said that SAF is putting faith in Fryers at the moment and he hasn't put a foot wrong yet.

If money was no option we'd go for Bale, Modric, Gotze, Martinez etc. But unfortunatly we can't do that - and im glad we can't coz id hate to be City. So, where do we go from here? Well...for me two central midfielders, a left back/left winger, center back and another forward are needed. You'll all say no to a left winger, but Young is our best one, and he can't play every game, Nani's not good on that side - as we saw yesterday.

So my suggestions are:

CB: One of Benatia (2nd choice), Subotic (1st choice)or Cahill (3rd choice).

LB: Baines, Alba or Pereira, although my first choice would be Bale - left midfield and left back, would allow Fabio to get games. It'd work well.

CM: One defensive midfielder out of: Tiote, Rodwell, Cabaye, Martinez, Javi Garcia. Martinez would be first choice, but Tiote would add so much steel.

An attacking midfielder which for me has to be Gotze, he's too special to miss out on - we've missed out on alot recently and we can't let it continue to happen.

Winger: Bale first choice, but someone unheard of or obscure will sign as usual. Vadillo looks as though he could be an option - know very little about him thought to be fair.

Striker: I'd definatly 25,000,000 for Van Persie, he's a fantastic striker and he's finding fitness as well. Thought to be negotiating a new deal but who knows what would happen if we moved in for him.

First Team for me would be 4-4-1 (realistic):

De Gea, Rafael, Vidic, Subotic, Fabio, Nani, Cleverley, Tiote, Young, Gotze, Rooney.

Rooney has to play upfront, so fed up of this nonsense of him being played out of position. He's one of the top 5 strikers in the world and we just don't use him there.

Anyways, what do you all think?

Ok so after watching last night's game it looks like we have to get a Cm in as a matter of urgency. I thought Rooney did a more than capable job in there however, he is our best forward and to think we should convert him into a midfielder is mad imo. Anderson's attitude over the past 3-4 games has been appalling and even though I have defended him over the last few years whenever any of my mates or opposing fans criticise him I can't see him being here for much longer and if he continues in the same vain as recently then good riddance tbh.

The tempo of our play is a constant problem which we can't seem to address for any period of time. Our first few games this season were spectacular because we played at a high intensity, had plenty of energy in the team and most importantly pressured the opposition. Then when we make 1 or 2 changes it's as if we are watching a completely different team who have very different instructions. I have said it before on this site that the best sides press the ball when they do not have it. The amount of times over the last 4-5 games where we don't apply any pressure until the ball is 40 yards from our goal is unbelievable.

The sooner we can intigrate Pogba into the team the better as he will show energy and dynamism when playing not just because he is the type of player who can dominate a midfield but also because he is young, he is fearless.

Lets hope January brings a quality signing because our performances of late suggest we need one.

Pogba should definately be on the bench for Sunderland, and a start at Swansea would be ideal. As well as Morrison on the bench at Swansea. It's clear to see Pogba needs game time, and i dont think we should loan him out at all cos i believe he could easily grow into the team by the end of this season if given the chance to.

So, with the exception of Rooney and Jones it was another piss poor performance last night from our mighty squad.

I'm getting fed up of scraping results against sides we should be beating 6,7-0.

They didn't pack men behind the ball, in fact from what I was watching they were very open and very attacking.

Rio, Evans, Anderson, Nani and Valencia all need passing lessons. It seems to me that since we've adopted this new 1 touch style of play we've actually forgot that the ball has to go to a player on our team...

We better kick into form after new years.

If the Glazers were not willing to release funds then why did they sanction an £18.3m fee for De Gea when we already had Kuszczak & Lindegaard at the club and VDS was willing to play on for one more season? Why did the Glazers sanction a £16.5m fee for Jones when we could have kept Brown and O'Shea? Why did they sanction a £16m fee for Ashley Young when we already have three wingers? This is not the actions of an owner who is not willing to release funds?

Answer that question and we will talk some more.

Sydney!

nobody is saying that the glazers are not willing to release money the issue is how much.
many fans feel that a club of our size should be able to compete for the very best players in the world but over the last few years we have been missing out.
this has been due to a number of reasons but one of they is def money.
you are entitled to your opinion but that is all it is you dont 100% no what fergy has as a transfer kitty or what we are prepared to pay in wages you are just basing your views on second hand information.
over the past 3/4 years fergy has identifed several players who have been available but we have not been able to get.
man city have proved that money talks.

ozil for example only wanted madrid but could a club like united not turned his head with a big contract, i guess we will never know.
before any one starts with we only want players who want to play for the club remember there are very few players out there like that kean ferdy only signed new contracts after demanding more money and would rooney still be at united if we never caved in to his demands.
At the end of the day we should be able to buy the best players in the world if fergy wants them but i for one dont belive that united under the glazers we will do this.

I'm one of the UNITED fans that think that exhibition last night wasn't convincing. I do have a pride too. But is important to for up to be real with ourselves that we're getting weak every week only because all this classless players games are affecting the game of other players. We really need to improve our squad to have more equilibrium between all sectors. 2 med, a striker, LB would be enough to build up a very competitive squad, cause we have SAF with us.

Fabio needs to play more in order to be ready to cover Evra if injured.

I believe.

Just for fun :

Guys what SWAP deals would you want to see in the WINTER/SUMMER windows (be practical) :

Mention only SWAP deals:

I just read a rumour about Inter being interested in Anderson(though i dont believe in this rumour)

Sneijder = Anderson + 12 million

Subotic = Berbatov + 10 million
or
Goetze = Berbatov + 18 million

Modric = Rio + Carrick + 10 million (sorry for this illogical transfer but i badly want this to happen)

Madrid would want to involve Chicharito in any SWAP deal so i dont see us swapping any of their players.

Fourfourtwo magazine are doing a report on the rise of the mini maestro and there's a bit about him with Jamie Redknapp calling him the new Wayne Rooney and Martin Keown apparently saying he'll be "one of the best players we'll ever see in this country"
Supposedly he can dance past players and has a powerful shot in both feet? Sounds exciting prospect!

I don't think there is a single United fan out there who wouldn't agree that we are desperate for a quality cm or 2 but that doesn't mean we are a terrible team/squad.We are just going through a rough patch. We are still 2nd in the laegue and don't usually play our best football untill after christmas so if we can keep City in sight hopefully we can close the gap on them in the new year.

And Sydney! If you think you're going to sign a world class midfielder in the January window then you need to have a chat with RAINFISH.

Am i the only fan on here who is content with last night?

Yeah i'll say Anderson had a bad night, as did Nani and Berba struggled. But other than that we created plenty of chances against a team that had every man behind the ball. Fabio should be first choice LB, he is better defensively and imo attacking than Evra. Only problem was a few sloppy passes of which there was only one point in the game where they looked like they might get a goal. A period of what like 5 minutes? You lot are turning worse than the LFC fans for absolutely slating our players.

Jones, Rooney, Fabio and Valencia all played brilliant. Hernandez was sharp on and off the ball. Rio looked more comfortable. De Gea made a good few stops and good distribution of the ball. Berba was trying, although it didn't pay off for him. Like i said last night there was only Nani and Anderson UNDER - PERFORMING. No they're not sh*t, incase you forgot Anderson had a blinding start to the season. And Nani is probably the best winger in the EPL over last few seasons. I was quick to get on Andersons back lastnight but atleast he goes out and tries.

Seriously, get behind the team or dont say anything. Id love to see any of you Keyboard Critics play better than they did lastnight.

Whatever the question is Rooney and Anderson in the midfield is not the answer. It doesn't half make you appreciated the Ginger Prince. Even at his age now he is twice the player in that position that they are. Rooney never has been or never will be a world class midfielder he gives the ball away too cheeply. As for Anderson he is just an arse on legs and i suspect a massive dissapointment to Fergie. To put it bluntly we were playing against a pub team last night and because of this tactic we have of dropping off to our own area we allowed them to dictate the pace of the game. The way we are playing at the moment I just hope we can somehow hold on the City's coat tails until something changes and we find our MOJO. I belive SAF has now realised that our CM is weak. Heance the reason rooney playing there. I don't think it will be his permanent position and a new midfielder will be signed in eirther jan or the summer.I also believe fabio deserves a few more oppertunities ahead of evra. His performance last night showed he poses just as my threat if not more then evra, he also gets back into position unlike evera. Lastly I think chico needs to work very hard on his game. Yes his movement and energy are really good, but in the last few games we can see that he battles to link play up and most importantly he battles to beat a player. There is no doubt he is a good player but would just like to see him improve his overall game. Anderson started off weel this season and his performances have gotten worse, I think he will be given another chance with cleverly, but if he does not prove his worth I think he will be replaced in the summer which will mean 2 CM's.

There seems to be a lot of negativity about the performance last night. People are saying we didn't have control in midfield and we struggled against them. This is wrong. What was poor was that we gave the ball away far too easily but apart from that the only thing wrong was we played far too negatively passing it back far too often. However, Galati also played well. They defended with a lot of energy and some of their balls into the box were great. We didn't have our first choice defenders with Ferdinand and Evans but I thought Fabio and Jones did very well. We do need a new midfielder in january or the summer but we are not as bad as some posts last night said.

the ones that played poorly-nani,anderson,berbatov.
I don't know if am wrong but i have noticed fergie sits in one position throughout the game,he doesn't come to the touchline to pass instruction,i think we need carlos back as our assistant coach.
January is near already, hope united can buy at least a proven cm.
All the best united

Eventhough united do poorly at times but they grind out results, thats the winning spirit about them, but when liverpool play poorly the best they can get is a draw.liverpool fans take a hard look at your average team before slating united's own

Though having said that about three clean sheets and then reading down a bit - I notice not many people would agree we are doing okay.

I thought Rooney was great in midfield today. Perhaps the guys around him weren't up to standard today but he bossed the whole game. To be honest with you, I wouldn't mind if we bought another striker and kept Rooney there. He was great!

Disagree with me if you want to, but this teams is just poor. Even against the worst team in this CL season we struggle like we playing Real or Barcelona? This is the team that SAF and GIGGS said that can compete with Barcelona? Better not, otherwise we'll be humiliated.

What is the point of playing Anderson, Carrick, 'Fletcher' instead of Pogba or even the Old king Giggs if they don't change anything in our game? We looked like we played with 10 players only.
Poor game, poor team and very uncertain future in this year competitions.

New players in central park needed in January or we'll end up with nothing, cause I can't see us challenging City for PL.

'first half - jones has been immense, fabio has made some brilliant runs, rooney spraying passes all over the pitch. again valencia playing well, good to see him coming back to his old self. shame about owen would of loved him to get a goal or two. with the possession we have its just a matter of time before we add more goals to the scoreline. centre backs are looking more comfortable tonight aswell. especially rio. chicharito looking sharp also. cant complain so far.

These scousers are doing my nut in. Their stupid posts regarding how much better they are than us (lfc) is becoming quite tedious. Why are they so confident? They have nothing to shout about. They last won a trophy in 05/06 and have been in a gentle decline ever since. What makes them think that they are going to change this path of failure is beyond me! Drugs must be going cheap in Liverpool, because I'm sure they're all on something! Our 12 trophies vs their 6 since 2000 surely tells something about the gulf between the two clubs, no?! So Liverfool fans, stop making yourselves look silly by saying these outrageous things, and let's just have banter about other topics.
